As an avid reader myself, and a Westcoast girl, I love two things: swoon-worthy pro athlete book boyfriends, and writing stories about them living in the beautiful Northwest where I'm blessed to call home.

I do my best work late at night after I’ve tucked in my three littles, and my hard-working husband.

By Kenna King

🏒 Sports Romance

🏒 Enemies to Lovers

⭐ 5/5

Wolf, he is not what Baylor and her family thinks of him
Baylor, she needs her time to see who he really is

Wolf, Baylor and a happy end that was hard to get

This book in that amazing hockey series follows defense man Wolf and his rival's sister, Baylor. Wolf and Beau, Baylor’s brother, had been in a competition since they were young, but one incident six years ago had Baylor’s family strongly dislike him. To say it nice.
But every attempt Wolf made those years ago was turned down. Apologise, coming to see.
So he went quiet and concentrated on his career. When a friend of his sets Baylor’s apartment under water, Wolf and Baylor are forced to work through issues and accept help.
At least she has to. And so Baylor begins to see the real man Wolf is, behind her dislike and her family’s disapproval.
But slowly Baylor relies on Wolf and falls for the enemy. One who is such a very good man. But when a game against her brother comes up, Baylor has to make a few decisions and things to talk about.
But then things go the wrong way and both, Baylor and Wolf, are getting hurt in some way.
Can they get their happy end and live their love out loud?
A beautiful and slightly sad element laced romance. Slow burn, heartfelt and with characters that are lovable, relatable and have one rooting for them.
And really well appreciated appearances of former couples.

While I enjoyed reading Wolfs book it also felt different, almost censored in a way.
The tension was tepid and not like all other Hawkeyes books. Almost as if the author was holding back on purpose. For what. Pleasing the purity police? The spice was at odds with the rest of the entire Hawkeyes universe so far. Odd choice for sure.

ARC REVIEW let’s get into it!

5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I LOVED this book!! I literally could’ve finished it in one day and only put it down because I had to

Wolf and Baylor are EASILY in my top 3 faves for this series
If you haven’t already you should pick up the start of the series Match Penalty

My favourites will forever be Scottie and Katerina but OH MY GOD I had so much fun reading this one Kenna you just get better and better!

Baylor and Wolf were so cute, one thing about Kenna is, THE BANTER

The BANTER I LOVED THEM SO MUCH because once they spend more time together it just got better they start out she’s mean to him and I think he liked it

They’re neighbours and his bathroom flooded leaving her without a kitchen to bake in so he offers his so she can keep her business going, a shared space with the man you’re supposed to hate. What could go wrong?

Acts of service were also big in this book I noticed everytime he got up and left her a coffee mug out, he made her breakfast, he walked her to her door. Wolf I love you

Kenna had me hooked from CHAPTER 1 and I LOVE when that happens for a book she got me invested right away and I just couldn’t wait to see how and when they got together

I also LOVE the little nods to seeing the OGs in the rookie series, I got my favourite one (Juliet) and Isla!

Kenna safe to say I think you need to make Hawkeyes hoodies because I want one now

The other thing I LOVE in her books is the girl group connection and how welcoming they are, Ellie and Baylor’s friendship was so sweet and now when I open a business I want to do it next to my best friend too.

If you’re new to Kenna’s books absolutely go from the beginning and meet the OGs in her Hawkeyes Hockey series and read Cocky Score Here

Or dive in with the Hawkeyes Rookie series from the beginning reading Match Penalty Here

Tropes:
Dislike to lovers
Neighbours
Brothers Rival
Baker x Hockey Player

Quotes: (there are SO many quotes I wanted to pick from)

"No, I figure you'd wear your brother's jersey in my seats just to get back at me."

"Want my advice?"
“No, not really."
“Doesn't matter. I'm your best friend, so I get to tell you anyway. I think you should agree to let Wolf help you. He owes you for the kitchen."

"I'm just saying there might be more to him than the guy you remember from that game."

I'm almost offended that Sprinkles is behaving for him. Even my delivery truck has a crush on Wolf Ziegler.

“I know I'm still supposed to hate you... But thanks for everything anyway."

Thank you so much for Kenna and her team for the ARC

I will never shut up about this book or any of her books, go find your next read!

Happy reading!

Thank You Kenna King For This Beautifully Written Emotional Turmoil Enemies To Lovers Found Family Hockey Romance ARC On Sale Now!

"...I'm trying to work out how to tell my brother that the man he hates is the one I want to go home to."

“You’re the one who’s hurt...You should’ve let me fall.”
“I’ll never let you fall, Baylor.”

“It was dancing, Wolf. Not a marriage proposal.”
“Too bad. I might have said yes."

“Still want me here?”
"Baylor. I haven’t wanted you anywhere else.”

The beautifully written Offside Rules, by phenomenal romance author Kenna King, is like Baylor's delicious cupcakes. It's rich with emotional turmoil and fully satisfying for the heart.

Baylor bakes her cupcakes at home, selling them from her used food truck Sprinkles. When her kitchen ceiling collapses her neighbor offers his much larger kitchen until hers is redone. The problem is he is her family's mortal enemy.

Six years ago hockey star Wolf knocked down, Baylor's brother during a game, leaving him so hurt it took several surgeries and years of rehab to get back on the ice.

Needing to keep her business going she sets some Offside Rules while using Wolf's kitchen, including Wolf keeping his clothes on and absolutely no grey sweatpants! There's a penalty jar for when he breaks the rules. He breaks them a lot. He also fixes Sprinkles, makes her breakfast and helps with her deliveries. Soon her enemy is the most important person in her life and she can't ever tell her family.

What makes Offside Rules so special is its honesty. There isn't miscommunication. Quite the opposite. They talk. They listen. They are kind and respectful. Wolf won't make her choose between him and her family. Baylor knows her once enemy is her choice.

The writing flows perfectly from laughs to drama, to spice to found family to exciting hockey plays to swoony romance as your heart breaks and heals a few times over. The only real rule is you need to read Offside Rules.

If Kenna King writes it, I’m going to read it. I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump and totally missed this book was coming out. I went into it totally blind and was not disappointed. It was a nice palate cleanser.

Baylor Fairbanks and Wolfgang “Wolf” Ziegler knew each other in college but a terrible accident made Wolf public enemy number one for the Fairbanks family. Now, Wolf is a professional hockey player at the Seattle Hawkeyes and Baylor is a home baker trying to make the jump to professional. Baylor and Wolf unknowingly live in the same building and circumstances cause her to have to turn to him to keep her baking business going. To keep things professional, Baylor institutes a list of rules and an infraction jar.

I loved Wolf and Baylor together as the relationship had a great balance of banter, tension, and sweetness. They might be my favorite couple. He’s got a tough guy exterior and heart of gold. He’s giving big caregiver vibes.

There’s a third act break up that hits pretty hard but luckily resolves pretty easily. Epilogue gives us a happy for now ending, but author bonus content gives us the longer term happily ever after. The story felt really good where it was left.

I LOVED this book and just DEVOURED it. It only took me one day to binge-read this one, and I had a smile on my face, even while I stayed up all night to finish it! This is Wolf’s book and I promise you, you won’t be disappointed.

Baylor has hated Wolf for the last 6 years, after he caused her brother an almost career ending knee injury. She finds out that Wolf lives in the apartment above her, when a water leak from his apartment damages her ceiling and kitchen. See, she’s a cupcake baker and needs her kitchen. I love Baylor! She’s determined to make her business work, she’s smart, and truly hates Wolf. But the more time these two spend together, she sees a different side of Wolf, and it’s nothing that she expected of him.

Wolf fell head over heels as soon as Baylor knocked on his door. He’s determined to support her cupcake business and offers her his kitchen and volunteers trying her cupcakes. He just can’t keep his eyes off her, but also knows he can’t be with her, because of what happened to her brother. He’s just so supportive and he just wants to help Baylor in a way where he’s not just giving her money. He also never wants her to feel that she has to choose between him and her family,

I loved reading this book! Their chemistry, their banter, it all worked together so amazingly. These two are honestly just perfect for each other and I can’t get enough of them.

ARC REVIEW
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Always excited to get an ARC for a new Kenna King book!

How can Wolf not be added to my 2026 book boyfriend list! He knows what happened 6 years ago was not his intention and now he is going to try and right his wrongs! That of course starts with allowing his cute neighbor who is a baker and the sister of his rival use his kitchen after his friend flooded hers. The amount of nice things Wolf continues to do for her was extremely sweet. Also shout out for him being her biggest cheerleader!

Baylor has every reason to not be a fan of Wolf’s. He’s the reason her brother almost couldn’t play hockey anymore and now his friend flooded her kitchen. Accepting his help is not something that comes easy, but she wants to make sure her business is still running. It was so easy for you to be a fan of Baylor’s. It was great to watch her succeed!

Wolf and Baylor’s banter is just chef’s kiss! The more time that they actually spent together the better it gets. The rules and the rules jar added in something to show the underlining chemistry building between these two!

How is there only one book left with the Hawkeyes! 😭 I feel like I just started this journey with the first series. It has been an amazing journey and I can’t wait to see what Kenna brings us with book 8!!!

Thank you Kenna so much for this ARC! 🤍

Thank you to Kenna King for the ARC of Offside Rules! This was everything I didn’t know I was needing right now. The writing was clear and sequentially easy to follow.

Offside Rules follows Baylor and Wolf. 6 years prior, Wolf accidentally hit Baylor’s brother, Beau, while they were playing hockey causing a near career ending injury. This lead to Baylor’s whole family holding onto a hatred of Wolf for 6 years. Fast forward to present day, one of Wolf’s houseguests throws a party that ultimately leads to damages in Baylor’s apartment that, unbeknownst to Wolf, is one floor directly below his. Unfortunately for Baylor this directly impacts her cupcake business. In attempt to repair the situation, Wolf offers his kitchen until hers is fixed. Reluctantly, Baylor accepts with a list of rules that Wolf must follow. Will he be able to keep his distance and follow ALL the rules? Time will tell.

I loved the banter between Wolf and Baylor. Their relationship was charged from the beginning which drew me in as the reader. This was the perfect amount of tension, spice, and sweet moments. Wolf has so many green flags. The inclusion of the girls from other books adds great ties to the other books without requiring that you’d read them before this book. I also loved the emphasis on the importance of family. It’s a great interconnected standalone.

ARC REVIEW

“Some rules are worth breaking.”

When Baylor’s kitchen floods she agrees to work in a neighbor’s kitchen upstairs. The neighbor is Wolf, her brother’s biggest hockey rival. (TW: hospital, hockey injury, past heart attack, skipping meals, child abandonment)

🧁 Dual POV
🏒 Hockey pro MMC
❤️ Baker FMC
🧁 Forced proximity
🏒 Brother’s rival
❤️ He falls first
🧁 Rule list
🏒 Neighbors
❤️ Cinnamon roll MMC

“You’re worth choosing.” 😭

I couldn’t put this book down! I stayed up too late trying to finish it. The FMC is a people pleaser learning to make her own choices even when it goes against the grain. Her family holding a grudge for six years is a really long time. I love that she gave the MMC a chance. HE’S SUCH A CINNAMON ROLL!! I love that he never pushed her or asked her to choose. He stood up for her when she couldn’t stand up for herself. I loved the ending but I was confused why they had to break up just because her kitchen was fixed. However, it did create some really great yearning and sweet moments that resolved beautifully in the end.

I loved this. Wolf truly was the king of acts of service, without the people around him knowing he was doing said acts of service. Goodness, he joined the NHL . Like his dad said, no one thought he was trying to take out Beau, but he carried that penance like he targeted him on purpose. Honestly, I get it Beau took a lot of time to get back to better, but get some therapy guys. How her mom treated her when she found out there was a possibility that she and Wolf were friends was awful. I hated that they laid guilt on her. She was nothing but loyal to her brother for years - and now she has this man helping her, paying attention to her, and she's told she has to stop. Ridiculous. Grow up mom. Anyway, I liked this book. It may be my favorite of Kenna's books. About halfway through I looked at my husband and said "this one is gonna break my heart." - because I could see the writing on the wall. He knew she would have to choose and he didn't want her to lose her family for him. He was perfect, no notes. Keep walking around shirtless, Wolf. The world appreciates you.

Wow! So good!
This series just keeps getting better.
This is book 7 in the Rookie Hawkeyes Series and features hockey player Wolf and baker Baylor.
This is an enemies to lovers story that has these two in close proximity to each other.
Due to Baylor’s apartment being flooded and unable to use her kitchen, Wolf offers her his.
She ends up accepting as she needs to bake her cupcakes that she sells in Sprinkles, her delivery truck.
The two have history due to an incident 6 years ago that had her family blaming him for her brother Beau’s nasty injury.
As they spend more time together Baylor soon discovers just how special Wolf is with all the wonderful things he does for her.
However close they get, he will not come between her and her relationship with her family.
Will Baylor’s family ever accept him?
Can they have a future together?
Such a wonderful story full of banter, so much fun, drama, spice, great friends and lots of emotions.
Thank you Kenna King for the opportunity to read this amazing story.

Honestly this started off beautifully. Baylor was just minding her own business baking her orders for the next day. When her upstairs neighbor was having a party. She had enough and went upstairs to ask them to turn it down. Only to ultimately find out the man her and her family hate Wolf lives there. Well before things get heated some not so smart people stumble out of the guest bath with the water way overflowing. Baylor rushes downstairs and finds that her ceiling and all of her hard work ruined. Even though someone else threw the party it doesn’t win any points for Wolf.

Well to Wolfs credit he pays her for the money she missed out on for the day and offers her his kitchen to cook in while hers gets fixed. And while things start off rockey he keeps doing all these really sweet things for her. And her walls start to crumble.

But will their feelings for one another be able to trump her families extreme dislike for him? Will they get their happily ever after? I guess you are just gonna have to read it aren’t you!

Ahhhh Wolfgang! Our man Wolf is determined to right his wrongs, especially when it comes to the beautiful baker Baylor. From when he accidently hit her brother on the ice to now accidently flooding her kitchen, Baylor has plenty of reasons to hate him but when she's stuck in a bind and he offers her the use of his kitchen, she has little choice if she wants to keep her business running. Of course the forced proximity brings them closer and when Baylor gets to know him better, she falls, like we all do! I loved these two together, yes the situation is complicated, but it's their friends, their family found that are rooting for them all the way.. their very own cheer squad and it's brilliant.... so just had the small hurdle of Baylor's brother! Another brilliant instalment from the Hawkeyes and Wolf's cheeky rule breaking!

I voluntarily reviewed a free advance copy of this book provided by the author. The opinions expressed are my own

Wolf and Baylor's story was so complicated! She's hated him for years because he caused the injury to her brother that almost ended his hockey career. When she discovers he is her upstairs neighbor and that he's indirectly responsible for her kitchen flooding, it definitely doesn't help his case. He does everything he can to help her so her business doesn't falter, including offering up his own kitchen during the repairs. They end up in close proximity, and Baylor starts to find it difficult to keep hating him. His kindness and their attraction is just too much to overcome. Very much a slow burn as they sort their feelings, but the spice was worth the wait. Sweet and spicy and just a fun read. Loved it!!!

I was so excited for Wolf’s book & I was obviously not disappointed lol I was very happy with how Kenna rolled out their storyline. Wolf never tried to use his actions or knowledge of things to sway how Baylor felt. He never tried to trick her or push her. He was always just there. Supportive and steady. He did what men should do, and showed up through actions.

I know Baylor struggled with how her family would feel, but she did her best to give them the info they needed. I love that she was her own person & didn’t allow them to change her or pressure her

Kennas girl gang has to be one of my favorites!! Multiple series later and we’re still seeing some of our OG babes. Always always always supportive without question!

Can’t wait to see where we go next 💕

Wolf is the one man Baylor should never fall for. He’s her brother’s hockey rival and the person her family blames for nearly ending her brother’s career. Thanks to a flooded kitchen the man she finds herself spending far too much time with, what starts as a simple arrangement quickly turns into something neither of them planned.

Wolf is a hockey player who breaks rules on the ice but seems determined to win Baylor’s heart, oh yes. I love so many moments the shared kitchen and the stolen cupcakes, shirtless encounters, homemade breakfasts. Wolf even fixing Baylor’s delivery truck.

if you love:
Hockey romance
Forced proximity
Forbidden love
Grumpy hockey players who are secretly soft for one woman.

Then this is for you.

I have read all of these Rookie Hawkeye series books so quickly! I love how Kenna just jumps right in to the action and draws the reader in. Wolf and Baylor were so cute. I was interested to see how their relationship could grow given how they knew each other but to me it was done in a believable way. Something about Baylor’s family was weird to me but I can’t put my finger on it. I’m glad she was able to stand up for what she wanted even though it would make it tough with her family. As with the other books, I love the found family through the hockey team. It just makes me happy.

Thank you Kenna for the eARC. All thoughts are my own.

Okay I devoured this one. I could not put it down.

Wolf and Baylor are so amazing, I just can't. KENNA YOU NEED TO STOP MAKING EVERY BOOK THIS GOOD.

I just loved their banter and back and forth so much.

While Baylor was supposed to hate Wolf, he made it practically impossible at every turn, and I loved that. I really loved Ellie and Baylor together and the Hawkeyes family coming together for Baylor, all because she was important to Wolf.

I loved the rules and rules jar so much and was just waiting for when the roles would be reversed. It was so clear the connection between the two of them and I really enjoyed the ending and how everything came together.

I really enjoyed the storyline on this one. It felt like there could have been a LITTLE more enemies part of the enemies to lovers, it felt like there wasn’t quite enough of the tension or yearning that there could have been. I also feel like this was one of the least spicy books in the series, but maybe it was me misremembering since it has been awhile since I read the others in the Hawkeyes universe. Theres still a couple of smutty scenes but overall if felt way more plot forward than some romance books

Loved being back in the Hawkeyes universe, and this series really is one of the ultimate found family series! The friendships, the support, the way everyone shows up for each other…

And, Wolf …Just quietly building up all those acts of service without needing recognition or credit. The little things he does say so much about his character, and I absolutely adored him.

This book had me laughing, crying and staying up far too late because I just needed to read one more chapter. Another brilliant addition to a series that will always get me reading.

put sweet treats and hockey in one book? i’ll definitely read it.

i love Baylor. her sense of independence but also feeling as though she must live up to her family’s expectations and opinions.

Wolf, you can defend a puck against me any day. Him creating a foundation to pay for Beau’s medical bills without them knowing had me crying quietly in the pillow so my fiancé wouldn’t tell me to stop reading.

I love that this was a slow burn but didn’t feel like a slow burn because their friendship organically grew. Thank you Kenna for reminding me how much I love my hockey romances.

Another great Kenna King book! Always so sad when I finish her books but always anticipating another great read. This story did not disappoint at all!
Wolf and Baylors love story is another great addition to the Hawkeyes hockey team! Felt like there could be a Hawkeyes mid season transfer for Beau and Ellie to fall in love but we will have to wait and see if that comes to fruition or not as a spin off.
Again loved this book and will read it again I’m sure!

I LOVE Kenna king’s antagonist banter between MFC & FMC, ever offensive or derogatory but just to feet kicking good!

3rd act break up ripped my heart out in a whole new way, you knew it was coming and STILL got me.

As always a gem! As always binged it and dropped other books to read.

Cupcakes

One flooded apartment and this forced proximity to her brothers biggest rival takes place. Baylors kitchen gets ruined when Wolfs apartment floods hers… wolf offers her use of his kitchen problem she hates him, her brother hates him her parents hate him. Some well placed rules later and cupcake baking at 5 am the hate becomes less and less. These two were perfect!

Talk about a redemption arc story line. I loved Wolf and Baylor and their love story. She hated him because of an injury he caused and little did she know that he has been trying to fix it the whole time. Their romance was sweet despite the fact that she tried to fight it so badly. Loved it.
