As soon as I heard the news, I knew it had to be wrong.
Bea? A killer? Impossible.
Not the sweet therapist who gently bullied me into recovery and never gave up on me, no matter how grouchy I was. She believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. And I wouldn’t be where I am now without her.
Helping Bea means breaking the law. It means asking my Blade and Arrow teammates to risk their freedom, if we’re caught. But the idea of leaving Bea on her own is unthinkable. So, with my friends' help, we race to stage a daring rescue before it's too late.
I woke up from one nightmare only to be thrust into another.
First witness to a horrific crime; now accused of being the one who did it.
On top of that, my protector is a man I never expected to see again. I thought about Indy from time to time—wondering, worrying, even toying with the idea of checking up on him. But I never, ever imagined I’d wake up on the other side of the country after he abducted me.
I want to be angry with him for what he did, even though he claims he’s just trying to help me. But it’s really hard to stay mad at Indy when he’s the only one who makes me feel safe.
Protected from Villainy features a wounded warrior hero, a sweet and strong heroine with struggles of her own, forced proximity, found family, a security team of Army veterans, and plenty of sweet and steamy moments. Can be read as a standalone and an HEA guaranteed!
Gia Cobie is a librarian and author living in upstate New York. In her spare time, Gia enjoys reading and spending time in the Adirondacks. She loves romantic suspense and paranormal romance, and also has a weakness for reality romance shows, wine, and buying way too many books!
This is shaping up, just two books in, to being my favourite Gia Cobie series yet. There’s something about how these guys are willing to go that bit extra over the line of legality that makes it that more exciting.
Now, if you like a hero that’s down bad, this is for you. Indy hasn’t seen Bea in three years, since she was his physiotherapist after he lost his hand and had a prosthetic fitted. THREE YEARS. And then Bea’s in the news for supposedly killing somebody and he immediately knows she didn’t do it, and rescues her. Three years no contact. They only knew each other through Indy’s hardest time, and he swoops in like the superhero he is. What’s so great about these books is how much you connect with the characters. The Shadow Team is a brotherhood (plus Yara!). I’m just so blown away by how good this was. I can’t wait for the rest of the series. I’m on tenterhooks!
Disclaimer: I’m on Gia Cobie’s ARC team. This review is honest and voluntary.
This was a good book, it kept me guessing with who was behind it all and I liked Indy and Bea.
There is no third act breakup and all the characters are super sweet and very protective.
Unfortunately, I don’t think the writing style was for me, there were a lot of confusing moments where I thought I’d missed whole conversations but the author will mention them later on (if that makes sense). I also found a lot of phrases and sentences repeated that the characters say and it got a little annoying.
The storyline was good but with the writing style, the book just didn’t flow.
As soon as Indy hears that Bea is a murder suspect, he knows there's absolutely no way she's guilty. So he and his teammates come up with a way to rescue her. With him she'll stay until they can find evidence proving her innocence, and find out who's really guilty. He always was fascinated with her back when she was his physical therapist, but having her back in his life is showing him how he truly feels. He's not sure he can let her go when this is all over. Here's hoping she feels the same way.
When Bea wakes up with no clue where she is and how she got there, the first person she sees is her former client, Indy. Finding out how he took her out of the hospital, to save her he says, should make her mad, but what she's really feeling is something much different. With Indy she feels safe and protected, and she's starting to feel something a whole hell of a lot more than either of those two things also. But when this whole ordeal is over, will Indy want her to stay?
When I first was introduced to Indy in his sister and Rafe's story (Protected from Malice), he was so intriguing that I I really wanted to read his backstory. Similar to Rafe, Indy is a protective alpha, also similar to Rafe, he feels as if he's not good for the woman he's realized that he loves. Thank God for Bea because she saw the real Indy, that he was a truly good man, and deserved to be loved, to have the happiness they found together. I love Gia's characters - her alphas are sometimes broken in ways, but all have big hearts, soft spots for the ones they love. Her heroines are equally amazing, with big hearts, also with their own scars, but love their protective guys. Indy and Bea's story is now my favorite in this series with its suspense (I definitely did not have a clue who the villain was) that wove seamlessly with their evolving, strengthening physical and emotional connections. The cast of found family is strong this time around too, and I'm very, very excited to read as each one finds love.

Protected from Villainy is the second book in Blade and Arrow Shadow Team series. A gripping page-turner that combines action, romance, and mystery perfectly. The author's strengths include crafting a compelling narrative, delivering on promises of being romantic, entertaining, charming, complex, dangerous, and suspenseful with emotional turmoil. Emotional depth and unexpected twists and turns are weaved through the intricate and utterly captivating relationship between Indy and Bea. Protected from Villainy is an immersive journey of two souls connected by past trauma and an undeniable devotion.
Indy, a former Green Beret bearing the battle scars, both visible and invisible, found his anchor in Bea during his arduous rehabilitation. She wasn't just his physical therapist. She was a beacon of unwavering belief when his own light had dimmed, an empathetic force who pushed him through his darkest times. When Indy learns Bea is trapped in a nightmare—accused of murder—his rescue mission is not merely out of loyalty, duty, or repaying a favor. It's a primal, instinctual drive to protect the woman who once pieced him back together. He doesn't hesitate or question; he simply acts, risking everything, even his team’s safety, to protect her. Indy's unwavering resolve, born from gratitude and a deeper, unspoken affection, reveals a hidden layer of steadfast courage and magnetic strength. Bea, on the other hand, is a beautifully rendered heroine—sweet, strong, and resilient. Going from a compassionate therapist to a terrified murder suspect, she finds herself in an unimaginable predicament. Even amongst confusion, shock, and the fight against injustice, her silent strength shines through. Bea’s internal conflict about Indy is complex: although she understands his good intentions in kidnapping her, he is also the man who truly makes her feel safe. This forced proximity changes everything for both of them. In moments of vulnerability, fear, and reluctant trust, their chemistry ignites, evolving beyond the initial therapist-patient relationship into something undeniably deeper and more passionate. Bea and Indy become each other’s sanctuary. Their dynamic is built on trust and healing: Indy’s protective instincts complement Bea’s shattered sense of security, while Bea’s compassion subtly mends the lingering wounds Indy carries. Their journey is one of mutual saving, profound comfort, and falling in love amid chaos, where the protector also finds his own solace and strength in the woman he has sworn to protect.
Protected from Villainy is a story that resonates deeply with lingering warmth and addictive, suspensful plot witnessing two perfectly imperfect souls find their home in each other's arms.
Beatrix is a physical therapist at a VA Hospital. One of her patients, Derek, is trying to talk her into doing a 5k run. I love how Bea tells him that although he is a former Army Ranger, he is a hero and one of her best patients. It warmed my heart how she interacts with her patients and all the little things she does for them. She is just so good and kind. She is there to help her patients heal and deal with traumatic shifts in their lives. That their lives aren’t ruined if they lost a limb, etc. When her watch vibrates and she answers the incoming call, it is Jenna, one of the other PTs, and her friend. Jenna needs to really talk to Jenna asap about something she is upset about. However, Bea finishes her paperwork and then heads up to the locker room to meet Jenna. But, what she finds is horrible and what happens next is even worse. Not only is her friend murdered, but she is the scapegoat for it. However, since Bea is injured she is in the hospital with injuries and a concussion so she isn’t awake yet.
Indy is razzing his friend Rafe who is with Indy’s little sister, Eden, whom he is going to marry. Ace, Webb & Tyler join in and tease Indy because he is still having trouble with dealing with it and it is funny to them. They all live in apartments in the Blade & Arrow HQ, except for Rafe & Eden who have a house on the protected property. This is the newest branch of B & A, the Shadow Team, which handles things a bit differently from the other two. Then, Indy gets a text from John, someone he met back at the VA Hospital in DC. Indy just doesn’t believe that it is possible for Bea to have killed someone. Even with all of the evidence against her. He gets his team to look into it more thoroughly. They decide to follow Indy’s example and come up with a plan to extract Bea, protect her and find out the truth.
Finding out how Indy treated her back then wasn’t a surprise. They pull it off and then when she wakes up, after a sedative for transit, (Indy is a medic & and that whole part had me hearing the Mission Impossible theme song in my head, lol). Indy didn’t realize that he had feelings for Bea, until the aftermath of how she dealt with everything he told her. He told her everything. As a teen she got chicken pox and developed Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, which caused her to lose her hearing, but she has implants that she can turn on and off. Then they begin planning on how to prove her innocence. Then some really freaky stuff begins happening and things get scary. This book had me laughing and crying a lot. We meet Yara, a robotics expert and someone who had been on one of the Green Berret teams, she is the one who did the mods to Indy’s prosthetics. More freaky stuff happens. I love how good the fight scenes are, and how the team handles everything. I was ticked at the reasoning why behind everything but the ending was perfect. One of the best things in the book was explaining about Extreme Jenga. Indy is just so sweet, adorable and perfect for Bea. So romantic too. I can’t wait to see who falls next on the team to Cupid’s arrow.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Protected from Villainy is the second book in the Blade & Arrow Shadow Team series full of romance and suspense. Gia knows exactly how to keep you guessing who’s the bad guy while swooning about the romance between both MC’s.
Beatrix, or Bea as she prefers to be called is a physical therapist at a VA hospital working mainly with amputees. She loves her job even though it isn’t always easy because her patients can be quite grumpy and even angry which she totally understands. One of those patients was Indy whom we met in the previous book as being the brother of MC Eden. Bea was helping him get used to being an amputee and learning to use his prosthetic but he didn’t make it easy for her. That didn’t keep her from never forgetting him though, he’s always kept a small special place in her heart.
Fast forward two years and Indy is in a much better place, he’s made a lot of progress and feels totally at home in his new job and with his team mates of the Blade & Arrow Shadow Team. When he receives a message during one of his meetings that Bea has been accused of murdering her collegue Jenna and is unconscious in the hospital waiting to be arrested, he jumps into action. He’s never forgotten about Bea who was the sweetest person trying to help him even though he was a grumpy bugger. She’s always been in his mind and now he’s got the chance to do something back in return.
Together with his team he sets out to kidnap Bea from the hospital and bring her to the B&A headquarters to keep her safe while trying to find out who’s responsible for the murder and the attack on her. Being in close proximity makes them grow closer and when Bea is once again attaced, Indy turns into a fierce protector.
I absolutely loved the romance blooming between both MC’s, Bea is the sweetest person, cooking and baking whenever she feels stressed which results in loads of yummie pastries for the team. Indy from his side is doing everything he can to make her feel at home and to show her how he’s changed. Also the banter between the team mates was yet again hilarious.
The only little niggle I had was regarding to the actual murder plot. When finding out the who and why I felt a bit confused as it seemed to me there was never any mention or hint towards the reason of the murder. But that is totally personal, I’m sure other people might think totally different.
All in all, this was yet again a super story that kept me glued to my reader. I love this series and can’t wait to see who’s biting the dust next. I’m secretly hoping it’s Tyler because I’m dying to read his story. Hint, hint….
A big thank you to the author for giving me the chance of beta reading this wonderful book. I’m leaving my honest review.
Protected from Villainy is book 2 of the Blade and Arrow Shadow Team series by Gia Cobie and she absolutely did it again with this book. I loved it! I love all the Shadow Team guys and the premise behind the Shadow Team so much. It's a little grittier, maybe slightly darker, than the original Blade and Arrow series and I love it! This book delivers on the action, suspense, spice, and of course, the love. This book follows Indy, our MMC, and Bea, our FMC. Indy is a former special ops soldier who was injured overseas and ended up losing his right hand and part of his lower right arm in an explosion. He had to leave the military and had to face several surgeries as well as grueling physical therapy after being fitted with a prosthetic. He faced many a day of self doubt, often feeling worthless at losing such a crucial part of his body. But after lots of talks with Cole, the founder of B&A, Indy realizes he's still valuable and can contribute to the team. He moves from Washington, DC, where he was doing his physical therapy, to the pacific northwest to join the Shadow Team. Bea was Indy's physical therapist in DC. She works at the VA, helping injured veterans as they recover from injuries. She has her own insecurities, as she has cochlear implants after losing her hearing. But she uses her disability to help her empathize with her patients. Shockingly, one day at work, she uncovers the dead body of her friend in the locker room area of her office and is arrested and considered the perpetrator of the crime. Indy hears about Bea's arrest and knows the sweet sunshine physical therapist that he believes truly helped save his life when was in the depths of depression after his injury, could never have killed anyone. He and members of his Shadow Team head to DC to break her out of prison and bring her back to B&A and into hiding while they track down the real killer. This novel had all the suspense and action you can expect from Gia Cobie. There's also lots of spice in this one and of course, if you love the way Gia writes our leading men, you'll love this one. Indy was perfection. If you like page-turning action and romantic suspense, coupled with a sweet and spicy love story with two strong main characters at the helm, this one's for you. I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series. Can't wait for the next one!
Protected from Villainy is the second book in the Blade and Arrow Shadow Team series. It features Indy (who we met in book 1) and Bea. There are a number of crossover characters, however the book can be read as a standalone.
The first chapter introduces Bea, a physical therapist dedicated to helping her patients. She receives a call from her friend who appears anxious. Concerned, Bea is eager to ascertain the cause of her friends unusual behaviour and rushes to meet only to discover her dead in the locker room. Bea is attacked and left unconscious at the scene only to find herself suspected of the murder. As the book progresses we learn more about Bea, her courage and her own secrets emerge.
Indy, a former green beret medically retired after an accident, is now a member of the newly formed Shadow Team. Wounded mentally and physically, he met sunny Bea during his rehabilitation. Three years on, he has put his life back together and is fully committed to his role on the team. When he learns that the pretty therapist who was instrumental in his rehabilitation is in trouble, Indy doesn’t hesitate to rescue her before the police can arrest and question Bea. With time ticking, Indy, and his teammates, must draw on their skills to protect Bea and identify the real killer.
I was engrossed from the beginning wanting to know the who and why. It is well written with likeable, believable characters, a good mix of action, emotions and suspense and an innovative use of hacking. I found it a quick read with twists and turns, particularly in the later half, that kept me hooked. Whilst I enjoyed reading the book I felt a large part of the first half was about the development of the characters and Bea and Indy’s relationship with little (beyond the initial incident) about the murder which I personally would have liked more of in the first half. This is why I only gave it 4 stars however I acknowledge that other readers may like this approach.
I am looking forward to reading the stories surrounding the supporting cast of characters when they get their turn.
Bea and Indy spent months together years previous while she was his physical therapist, and during that time, Indy quietly developed feelings he never shared. So when news breaks that Bea is suspected of murder, he immediately knows something is wrong. Having known her so well, he recognizes that nothing about this situation makes sense.
Without hesitation, Indy gathers his team and crosses the country to make sure Bea isn’t wrongfully thrown in jail. His actions are incredibly gallant, even if his execution isn’t perfect. I completely understood Bea’s frustration when she wakes up to realize he took her without explaining, but with time working against them, hesitation wasn’t an option. From that moment on, the entire book centers around Indy’s devotion to Bea. His worry and protectiveness run deep; the smallest injury unsettles him, and if she’s hurt in any way, he’s immediately there to care for her.
Bea’s reactions throughout the story felt valid and real. I felt for her every step of the way. I also loved that she had the rest of the Blade and Arrow Shadow Team on her side, not just for protection, but as support and safe places during everything they faced. While Bea is strong, she’s also vulnerable, and I really appreciated that balance. Her emotions are tangible, and watching her process everything added depth to both her character and her developing relationship with Indy.
There were so many moments in this story that surprised me. Even when I knew more was coming based on where I was in the book, I never quite knew what it would be. The plot continued to unfold in a way that felt full and intentional, never dragged out or rushed. It made for a satisfying, well-rounded story that left me fully invested from start to finish. I received this book as an ARC and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
Perfect is what you make it. And this? This can be perfect. For us.
This is a great book full of action and adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
When Bea is accused of the murder of her friend and colleague, Indy finds it impossible to reconcile the image of her as a murderer with the sweet, caring physical therapist who took care of him when he was at his lowest, and meanest. so with the help of his security team he sets out on a journey to not only prove her innocence, but to also to protect her from the danger that seems to be dead set on finding her. And erasing her. And let’s be honest all good romances start with a kidnapping right?!?
I love that this book had such a huge and positive amount of disability rep, both with Bea, who is deaf and uses cochlear implants in order to hear the world around her, and with Indy, who as an amputee uses prosthetics on a daily basis. This book described a lot of the difficulties faced by amputees, the hard of hearing/deaf community and also army vets who after their time in the service often struggle with their new reality when they leave the service. It also highlighted the fear, and absolute terror faced when the very things that you rely on to help you are instead used to cause you fear and pain.
The relationship between Indy and Bea is actually super sweet, well if you skip over the whole kidnapping part, and as their connection grows I think it becomes apparent pretty quickly that he would do anything to keep her safe, and that he is her home, her safe place to land and that’s always a beautiful thing.
Will Bea and Indy be able to prove her innocence, or is she destined to remain in hiding forever? Will the danger that is heading Bea’s way be successful in their attempts to eradicate her? Will Indy be able to show his love for Bea while keeping her safe from harm? And, most importantly Who killed Jenna? And why?
I don’t want to dissuade anyone from giving this book a chance, my opinion may not line up with yours.
I enjoyed both Indy and Bea as characters and appreciated the life changing circumstances each of them overcame (she went deaf as a teenager and has cochlear implants and he lost his lower right arm while a Green Beret).
The storyline is little unique in that the hero kidnaps the heroine from a hospital to protect her from being arrested for a murder he ‘knows she didn’t do’. I love the Blade & Arrow team and would have enjoyed a little more of what the team was doing to track down who the real killer was. Indy isn’t really directly involved in solving the murder and is focused on protecting Bea.
The suspenseful portion of the story was what I was most looking forward to reading, and it’s just not there compared to previous books by Gia. The focus on Indy and Bea getting comfortable with each other not having a problem with their physical differences (prosthetic arm and cochlear implants) and having repeated conversations about thinking the other was perfect.
The suspenseful portion of the story pops up out of the blue and it just seems out of step with the rest of the writing. I would have preferred less relationship meanderings and more focus on why Bea’s friend was murdered. When that was finally explained it was a little bit of a let down because the reason is bizarre and had no real connection to anything else.
It was an entertaining read, but not stellar or exceptionally memorable compared to other boos I’ve read by Gia.
received a free ARC from the author and The Author Agency; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.
Sorry it’s boring and it drags on and on, and the plot is ridiculous.
I’m sorry but I didn’t enjoy this one. In places I liked the team and the camaraderie and bond that they have but that’s it. The plot is just ridiculous at times, and the s*x scenes were awful. I wanted to ask him if he’d ever heard of foreplay!!!
When Bea is accused of murdering her colleague and work friend, Indy straight away knows she’s innocent. Indy was her physio patient years ago and had feelings for her but never did anything about it. When Bea is injured and the police are waiting to arrest her, Indy and his B&A team plan to kidnap her from the hospital. I’m sorry but it’s so silly. How are they going to prove her innocence? The case against her is so flimsy that it’s silly that the police were going to charge Bea!!! When they have Bea safe at the B&A compound, and Indy has explained why they kidnapped her, Bea is really angry with him. Erm what now???? She was the only suspect and the police had pretty much convicted her without any real evidence and SHE’S ANGRY WITH HIM??? Eventually she ‘forgives’ him. Forgives him for saving her from prison. Charming.
Indy and Bea are soon madly in love, but I didn’t feel any connection with them at all. Indy constantly asks Bea during s*x, ‘Is this okay? Do you like this?’ It’s weird! Not just during s*x actually, he does it all the time! ‘Are you okay?’ Over and over. The team meanwhile are investigating who the murderer could be, not sure how they are but hey ho.
There’s too many problems with the plot in this, sorry. I did like Indy though.
Beatrix "Bea" Howe is a physical therapist who is loved by her clients when she is wrongfully accused of murder. Bea has no idea how she could be charged with Jenna's death as she knows someone whispered something in her ear before she lost consciousness.
Indy Garrison works for Blade and Arrow and will do anything to help Bea clear her name after how much she helped him as a therapist after he lost part of his arm during combat. Yet he knows that breaking her out of the hospital won't be easy but his teammates are there for him.
Will Indy be able to help Bea clear her name and protect her from whomever is out there and wants her to pay for their crime?
I enjoyed this book and I know I have read books from this author before.
One thing I really liked about this book was the emphasis at how someone who loses a limb and ends up with a prosthetic is still capable of doing so much. Both Bea and Indy were at certain disadvantages with their pasts but both of them worked hard at overcoming them and following their own dreams,
I liked the relationship between Indy and Bea and how they knew each other previously and this book built on that. Nothing was rushed but there was a background and Bea had really seen Indy at his lowest points and didn't judge him.
The mystery was good and parts of it surprised me. I liked that it took Indy's whole team plus Bea to work together to find out who was behind everything.
I look forward to reading more from this author!- Rebecca

The second book in the Blade & Arrow Shadow Team series is titled “Protected from Villainy.” It has been two years since Indy was one of Beatrix’s patients, and during that time, neither Indy nor Bea has forgotten the other. When Indy learns that Bea is in real trouble and facing charges for a crime she could not possibly have committed, he feels compelled to act. Without hesitation, Indy and his team kidnap her from the hospital to keep her safe while they investigate who is setting her up and who is genuinely responsible for the crime she’s accused of.
The slow-burning romance between Indy and Bea is sweet and perfect as they get to know each other on a personal level, moving beyond their past roles as patient and physical therapist. Their chemistry and attraction are both emotional and passionate. The team’s support is strong, just as in all the other Blade & Arrow groups, showcasing actual found-family dynamics.
The suspense and twists in the story are fantastic; I couldn’t put this book down! It had me hooked from the beginning and kept me guessing until the end, which I absolutely loved. I can't wait for the next book in this series because the Shadow Team is definitely becoming my new favorite series.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another great book in the Blade and Arrow family. Bea's character is pretty great, she is a physical therapist that specializes in working with people and veterans that have disabilities. That's how is met Indy. Bea also has a disability that makes her feel different, not good enough, thanks to her heartless ex. Indy is just what you expect from a Blade and Arrow Protector, strong, fierce and willing to put himself in danger to protect the ones that need help. I can't quite phantom that Indy put himself in the position he did to help Bea. I get why he did it, but it's few and far between that you find someone that would risk everything that Indy risked to help Bea. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. He has amazing faith in her from the very beginning. My favorite parts were when Bea and the Blade and Arrow crew kept giving Indy compliments, NOT, on his cooking skills, Too Funny! I could actually imagine their faces when they do it. I gotta say, for someone as lovable as Bea, she sure has a lot of trouble coming at her. Don't worry, she has Indy and the Blade and Arrow guys and gals ready and able to handle it. Plus a few surprises that you will love to hear from. Great book Gia!! I really enjoyed reading it. Although, I love all your books!!
This was my first Gia Cobie book, and overall it was such an enjoyable read. From the forehead kiss in chapter three, I was completely sold! Bea and Indy are so cute! 😍 The tension between them is undeniable, and the fact that sparks are flying while they’re just talking says a lot about how well their chemistry is written.
As a deaf reader with cochlear implants, I was genuinely surprised and excited to see a Deaf FMC with implants. I had no idea going in, and that representation made my connection to Bea instant and meaningful.
Indy is the perfect kind of protective MMC, strong, steady, and safe without being overbearing. He’s possessive and watchful but still respects Bea’s independence and trusts her, which I really appreciated. Bea herself is a great balance of kind, gentle, and strong-willed without ever feeling weak.
The book is fast-paced, which worked really well for the suspense-heavy plot, and Gia Cobie does a great job setting scenes and making everything easy to visualize. While the conclusion of the suspense wasn’t quite what I was hoping for, I was still genuinely surprised by the killer and the twist revealed alongside it.
Great chemistry, thoughtful representation, and engaging storytelling. This was a strong first impression, and I’d definitely read more from Gia Cobie.
Second book in the Blade and Arrow Shadow Team series and one of my favorite from the author. This one has it all. A great mix of action, emotion and suspense. Bea is a therapist. She works with patients that are wounded warrior heroes. They can be extremely grumpy at times but she handles them with ease. One patient even after 2 years still comes to mind ever now and then Indy. Someone she never forgot. Indy learns that Bea has been accused of murdering her colleague Jenna he instantly without a doubt knows that she did not do it. He gets his team together and will do whatever it takes to protect her and prove that she is innocent. But along the way these two find that there is something between them. But will Indy be able to keep her safe? This storyline is about a wounded warrior hero, a sweet and strong heroine with struggles of her own, forced proximity and found family of a security team of Army veterans and plenty of sweet steamy moments that will have you wanting more. This was a very enjoyable engaging storyline that had me turning the pages wanting more. I absolutely love any and every book from Gia as every story has depth and likable relatable characters that have you engaged in the storyline and turning the pages to see if they get their happy ever after.

Protected from Villainy is book 2 in the Blade and Arrow Shadow Team series but can be read as a standalone. I read it his way and didn't feel like I was missing anything. The story line pulls you in right from the beginning. Bea used to be Indy's therapist that gently bullied him into recovery. Indy knows her and the type of person she is. So when Be a is being wrongfully accuse of murder, Indy, knows in his heart Bea could never have done what she's being accused of. In order to help her clear her name, he knocks her out, breaks her out of the hospital and brings her back to their team house to recover and hide out. I love Indy and Bea. Bea is such a sweet innocent character. Indy is protective and caring. And while the story is action packed, they never lose sight of that sweet caring nature for each other. Bea helps rehab amputees and really helped our wounded war hero Indy see better of himself. She helped him get his prosthetic and learn how to use it. Bae also wears cochlear implants after losing her hearing. This was honestly my two favorite things about these characters. The fact that they were written perfectly, even with their imperfections. The way they loved each other and their imperfections and helped heal each other had my heart melting. I enjoyed this story. I can't wait for the next one in the series.
Former Green Beret Indy Garrison has joined the Blade and Arrow Shadow Team after his medical discharge. Two years ago, he was lucky to receive physical therapy treatment from Beatrix (Bea) Howe. She understood what some patients go through as she has worn hearing implants since she was a teen. When Indy learns that she has been accused of murder, the murder of her friend and coworker, he knows that it is completely untrue. When he learns that she is in the hospital, injured and soon to be arrested for murder, he convinces his team that he must rescue her. He and his team arrive and remove Bea from the hospital to safety. As they learn, from her, what actually happened, they begin their investigation as to who murdered her friend as well as injured her. As she stays with his team at their facility, she spends time with him and is aware that there is an attraction growing between them. When the killer is able to contact her there, the urgency to find the killer increases. Will they find the killer and the complex reason for her becoming a target? Have they ended the threat against her and is there now time for them to pursue the love they have found for each other? Thrilling action and suspense from the very first pages to the thrilling end! I don’t know. It’s not bad, but it’s not particularly memorable either.
We follow Bea, a highly skilled physical therapist who gets framed for the murder of her best friend. Injured and concussed, she’s essentially kidnapped from the hospital by Indy, who’s determined to keep her out of jail. Their reunion is a shock—Bea is understandably distant at first, though she recognizes that Indy’s actions come from a place of care and protection. While hiding out at B & A HQ, Bea starts to feel a renewed chemistry with Indy. Indy, meanwhile, seems like he’s been at least half in love with her for years. Their relationship develops quickly as they spend more time together.
The identity of the person who killed Bea’s best friend is genuinely unexpected, which explains why the case is so difficult to crack—even with B & A’s resources. That said, the framing itself doesn’t quite hold up. The culprit doesn’t come across as particularly intelligent, and the murder clearly wasn’t planned. So why does the setup feel so elaborate? The idea that people in high places would be pushing so hard to pin the crime on Bea feels oddly sophisticated for such a sloppy killer.
Overall, the story has its moments, but the logic behind the central mystery kept me from fully buying in—and that made it hard for the book to really stick with me.
This is a wonderful story of love found again. Bea was a physical therapist at the VA and treated injured military members. Indy was a patient of hers and she was training him to use his new hand prosthetic. They remembered each other, which was useful when she was accused of murder several years later.
Bea’s friend Jenna at the hospital asked her to come to her and sounded agitated. When Bea got there, her friend had been murdered and the murderer hit Bea on the head and she became unconscious. The weapon was left next to Bea, and it had her fingerprints on it. She is arrested, charged with murder, and handcuffed to a hospital bed while she recovers. Indy sees this on the news and knows she is innocent and needs help, so he and the B&A team kidnap her from the hospital. Now she is under the care of Indy and his team.
There is so much that happens in the story at this point, as the team works hard to discover who the murderer is and why Jenna was killed and Bea is the target. In that process, Bea and Indy rediscover their attraction to one another. I highly recommend ‘Protected from Villainy’. It’s impossible to put down! This is the second book in the Blade and Arrow series. This has been my favorite series by Gia Cobie so far. I really enjoy the team being so cohesive and supportive of each other and the people they are protecting. It really does create its own world by reading about all the people who make up the team.
I really enjoyed the characters of Indy and Bea. Indy really does have a heart of gold even though he is also a strong male character. He has been through a lot and overcome an injury that made him doubt his abilities. Bea has been through plenty herself with her hearing and her friend. Indy's efforts to care for Bea are so tender that the romance between these two was inevitable.
I really loved this story. It had plenty of suspense mixed with romance. The beginning scene grabbed me right from the start. The interactions between the team are such a great contrast between friendly banter and action heroes. The characters are very likeable and easy to relate to. I'm looking forward to even more action in the next book!

This is a story about the newest version of Blade and Arrow protection team called Shadow team. As the name implies it's the team who stretches the boundaries of what is legal. for them protecting the identity of the team and getting results is what matters.
Indy one of the team is a medically retired special forces man whose physical therapist, Bea, is being investigated for the death of her friend, another therapist. Indy doesn't believe it and he convinces the team to "kidnap" her from the hospital where she is recovering from injuries in the supposed attack on her friend.
Lots of nonstop action, falling in love and dangerous situations. As in all of Gia's books the team prevails but has some difficult times which not only help bond the team but also Indy and Bea. I like the new team that plays in the grey area a bit more and still the hero falls madly in love with the heroine who risks her life also to help the team and the hero. Highly recommend the book it keeps you guessing and makes you want to read just one more chapter before putting it down. (Ya like that's going to happen.)
I really enjoy Cobie’s stories and was so happy for Indy to get his own story after seeing him in Protected from Malice. He struggled so much after losing his hand, falling into depression and anger, but is starting to find his way again thanks to his work with Blade & Arrow. And he’s going to use his skills to protect the one woman he can’t forget, spiriting her off in the dark to keep her safe.
As they give in to the pull between them, Indy & Bea help each other feel more confidence in themselves & their attraction. The relationship they develop together may be fast, but it works on building on their previous connection. While there is no third act breakup, when you are about 2/3 way thru and you find your baddie you know that something more is coming. Cobie makes it work like she always does :)
I find Cobie’s stories a well-balanced mix of suspense, action, steam, and emotion. Her bad guy works, the way we get there flows well, and the team is always fun to read. We’ve got a few more guys that need a book and I’ll be first in line.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.**
Indy met Bea when she was his physical therapist, a few years ago, she taught him how to manage his prosthetic hand. Now he's heard that she's been accused of murdering her best friend and that the police aren't looking for anyone else. He asks his team at B and A if they will help him, they travel to the hospital where Bea is recovering from a blow to the head and kidnap her! Indy is worried that when she recovers consciousness she'll be very cross with her, but better that than her being locked in a cell. His team can investigate and work out who really carried out the murder and why. Bea is surprised and frightened when she wakes but she remembers Indy and how she felt about him. She meets the rest of his team and they help to set up her implants. Indy realises that she know how he feels about his prosthetic as she has the same problem worrying how people treat her differently when they find out about her implants. Can the team all work together to find the murderer, and the why. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
As usual a great romantic suspense from Gia, with many twists and turns.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second book in the series. I wanted to know more about Indy after the first book. Let me tell you this book did not let me down.
Bea was Indy’s therapist when he was recovering from his injury. Bea was framed for the murder of her friend and fellow therapist. When Indy heard the news, he knew there was no way she could have killed anyone. Indy and the guys kidnap Bea from the hospital to give them time to prove her innocence.
I am enjoying seeing the Shadow Team working together with one another and the other series teams. I loved how Bea could see the real Indy and did everything she could to get him to see how amazing he is. I adore Bea she is such a sweetheart and the fact she likes to bake to relieve her stress makes me love her more. Watching Bea and Indy’s relationship change and grow was so wonderful. There is so much personality in this book between Bea, Indy and the team. I loved the banter between them all. There is suspense and action where I was trying to figure out who and why her friend was murdered throughout the book.
A captivating read, wonderful characters and a plot that held me riveted This is the second book in the series and I have to say that this was a simply wonderful read the interaction between Beatrix otherwise known as Bea is a physical therapist at a VA hospital working with those that have lost limbs. Indy has spent the last few years getting into a better place and he feels totally at home in his new job with the Blade and Arrow Team. When he is contacted and told that Bea has been accused of murdering her colleague Jenna and is now unconscious and they are waiting to arrest her. He steps in trying to help and is determined that she could not be responsible for killing someone she is too goodhearted. His team and himself all work tirelessly to prove that Bea is innocent of these charges, I will not spoil the plot but will say that you will be captivated by this book it is a wonderfully written and the plot has been so well delivered. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.
Book 2 in the Blade & Arrow Shadow Team Series by Gia Cobie.
This book gives us some twists and turns throughout and with the suspense hanging on every page, I could not put this book down.
Tropes: • Wounded Warrior Hero • Strong Heroine • Forced proximity • Found family • Team of Army Veterans
Bea finds herself facing a crime she didn’t commit and now she is a fugitive, how did her life go from bad to worse? Oh wait, she is hiding but it is to keep her safe until the B&A team can find out what happened. Indy can’t believe and doesn’t believe the therapist that he really liked was capable of murder so how can he help her and how can he ask his team to do what needs to be done until they find answers?
If you know anything about the Blade and Arrow Shadow Team, you know that they trust each other completely and will do whatever it takes to help find justice. Jump in the world and this series and watch just how strong of a bond the B&A team has, not only for each other but for the women that seem to show up when least expected.
