Danny, languishing in a hospital bed, sick with terminal cancer and having been run down by a car is here to blow the whistle on life.

Notorious for street activism promoting veganism and antinatalism on his Social Experimentalist YouTube channel, he now moves several rungs upstream and deals with life and sentience as the source of all our ills.

The appendix concludes with a list of the many sicknesses and ailments we can be struck down by. Appendicitis included.

As someone who has already decided not to have children, I sometimes find reading books like this to be needlessly bleak. I also find the rhetorical device of listing a bunch of bad things that can potentially happen during the course of a life to be a bit overwrought. But! That doesn’t mean the author is wrong.

Also, if you, like me, are interested in challenging your deeply held convictions, this is the most thoughtful response to antinatalism I have come across.
