Doubling Groups 2.0: How Andy Stanley and a whole generation of churches are exploding with doubling groups and the power of hospitality.

Rate this book
We can take our world for God by giving the ministry to laymen who are using their gifts to grow their groups, to double their groups every two years or less. A group of ten that doubles every eighteen months will reach a thousand people in ten years. It is happening. It is happening like never before. Bill Hybels spoke at North Point’s fifteen-year anniversary. He described North Point by saying it is the fastest movement in history. How did they do it? Doubling groups that are growing through hospitality are two key components. They are two components every church can use to reach their community. May God richly bless your efforts to reach people for Him. We must work in the power of the Holy Spirit. We must work in faith. We must work in humility. May God richly bless His work through His people for His glory.

Very quick read, a few basic insights, and that's about it. The main value of the book, I think, is in providing a bibliography of sorts, referencing other, meatier books on the subject. I personally came away with the feeling that the thrust behind the rationale for pursuing multiplying small groups was primarily to offer a platform for promoting the author's Q&A small group lesson website. To be fair, that issue wasn't forced, but it was noticeably present.

Quick read

The book was not bad. It had some good insight on small groups but never really develop a great strategy, it was a good summary of quotes from the top 100 churches pastors and how important they believe small groups are.

Takeaway from book is the importance of senior leader incarnating the mission and regularly casting vision for what they want to be a value and norm.
