This is a novella and part of me felt this novel should be before book 2. But with it falling after Book 2, I have a better understanding of what is going on in this novel. I very much enjoyed this series and there is one more main novel left!
Was a very quick and enjoyable read for me. I was very interested in Kaelen in the previous book and so this novella allowed me to see a whole other side of him behind the façade he had presented. Last book of the series here I come!
I’m not sure why I always feel the need to read these novellas. I almost always regret spending the money on them. I mean, even if they’re not bad, they rarely actually add anything to the overall story.
I thought I would like this one better than Undiscovered because I found Kaelen to be a more interesting character than Zen. However, it really wasn’t any better.
We did get to see more of the Diotech compound. It was nice seeing it from Kaelen’s point of view (POV), as it gives a bit of insight as to what Sera may have gone through when she was there, though not exactly the same, of course.
Other than that, and just seeing things generally through Kaelen’s POV, we don’t learn anything more about anything of substance.
I really enjoy companion novellas that give me a look into the mind of a different character from the main series, and this one let me see inside Kaelen’s mind. It goes through some scenes from Unforgotten — but tells them from his perspective instead. It was interesting, but I also felt like I had a difficult time remembering that it was supposed to be in Kaelen’s voice. I guess I wanted a little more from him.
Unleashed by Jessica Brody is a novella told in the POV of Kalen. Unleashed happens during Unforgotten when Kalen goes back to 1609 to capture Sera. This is a quick but enjoyable read. It's nice to know what Kalen was thinking when he was acting as a priest and when he was saving Sera from dying in the witch trails. I can't wait to start Unchanged, the last book in the Unremembered series, and see how this amazing series ends.
Loved it! Kaelen's POV is considerably more interesting than Sera's in my opinion. He is a character who is almost fiercely devoted to Alixter, and that makes it even more crucial to the plot, knowing Kaelen's 'relationship' with him. However, I wish it were slightly longer. Apart from that, I enjoyed it tremendously and am looking forward to seeing more of Kaelen in Unchanged!
I was a bit confused beginning this one, because I thought "2.5" meant it came after book two, but it actually seems to be kind of before/during book two, from Kaden's POV. I suppose it was interesting, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the other novella.
I literally read this novella in 15 minutes. It was short and very insightful into Kaelen's thinking of Sera and even doubts about himself. Read only after reading whole series (novellas and all) of Unremembered.
Great bridge story to get ready for the final installment in the Unremembered trilogy. Since Kaelan is such an important part of book 3 it is good to hear about events from his perspective.
