Rate this book
Hannah's crush on Kate was one-sided…until tonight.

Hannah has never been happier. With her ex in the rearview mirror for two years now, she’d settled into life in Marley Creek—home to her long-time crush. She’s ready to make a bold move when she’s invited to a party at the striking blonde’s pet bakery.

Kate’s successful business is on the brink of something huge. Then, the drop-dead gorgeous redheaded Hannah kisses her, and Kate questions her no-relationships rule.

Hannah’s life is on standby waiting for Kate’s texts. So, when Kate doesn’t invite her to a meaningful event, Hannah must decide if she is going to walk away or fight for her. Kate is falling for Hannah, but will fear from a past experience keep her from committing?

When Hannah’s ex threatens to destroy her new life, will this couple let the past tear them apart, or will Hannah and Kate fight for a fresh start together?

If you’re looking for a steamy, sapphic small-town romance full of holiday vibes, age gap, and found family, Love and the Three of Cups is perfect for you!

I really enjoyed this book. It didn’t quite reach “great” territory for me, but it was definitely good and very easy to get through. A few parts felt a bit rushed, especially early on, and I would have loved a little more build up and backstory. That said, the tension between the MCs was strong, and there was enough outside conflict to keep me engaged the whole way through.

Hannah is sunshine in a bottle who’s been told to dim her light, and I adored her. Watching her grow into herself over the course of the story was one of my favourite parts of the book. Kate is more responsible, a little older, and understandably jaded after everything she’s been through. Seeing her fall for Hannah while still struggling to let go of her fears and worries felt very real. In my opinion, these two are perfect for each other… if they could just get out of their own heads.

The romance does feel a little rushed at the start, but the tension that builds later on really makes up for it. I also loved the theme of facing past demons, both literal and emotional. The climax pulled a lot of things together and made up for much of what was missing earlier, even though some of it still moved quickly. The spicy scenes were a definite highlight too, very well written and a lot of fun to read.

Overall, this was a really enjoyable read with the bones of something great. With a bit more breathing room in the build up and character backstory, it could easily have gone from good to outstanding. I’m glad I picked it up and would happily recommend it.

A Heartwarming Celebration of Love and Friendship

Love and the Three of Cups is an enchanting and heartfelt story that beautifully blends romance, friendship, and self-discovery. Victoria Hamel’s writing is warm and inviting, drawing readers into a world where love is celebrated in all its forms. The characters are vibrant and relatable, each with their own unique journey that adds depth and charm to the narrative.

What truly stands out is Hamel’s ability to weave emotional authenticity with uplifting themes, leaving you with a sense of hope and joy. The pacing is perfect—never rushed, yet always engaging—and the dialogue sparkles with wit and sincerity. This book feels like a comforting conversation with a dear friend, reminding us of the power of connection and the magic of shared moments.

If you’re looking for a story that will make you smile, tug at your heartstrings, and leave you feeling inspired, Love and the Three of Cups is an absolute must-read. Highly recommended for fans of contemporary romance and anyone who believes in the beauty of love and friendship.

Hannah is doing a event for the store she works at, 'New Age Stones and Witch Crafts' and she's nervous. Not just because she's not that good at fortune telling, but she'll be working with a woman she has a crush on.

Kate Sterling runs a pet store and bakery, and is doing a charity event with Hannah's boss. But she's worried her land lady will sell the building out from under her. After the event she and Hannah flirt, then she kisses her.

Really awkward writing. Not really bad, but feels weird.

Kate and Hannah date, but Kate refuses to commit. When Kate's family sees the two on socials and tease her, Kate freaks and breaks up with Hannah.

Then Hannsh's ex starts stalking her on socials, and she finds out from her mother that he's in the area. She mobilized her friends to help, and they contact Kate, who rescues her when Chad arrives.

(Her rushing in to rescue Hannah feels very cliche. I mean, it's a thing, but...)

They get back together, wrap up.

Not BAD but clearly rough around the edges. As it's their first book, plenty of room to grow.

Hannah has a crush on Kate but has only been with men and, wants to have a lesbian relationship. Kate is not going near Bi women again and, is definitely not having a relationship with anyone. Then, they have sex and neither can stop thinking of the other but for Kate, it’s really just the sex or, is it What happens when Kate finds out Hannah is Bi and, what happens to Kate when her landlord wants to sell her home & business. How does Hannah’s teaching a of tarot cards go? How will they manage the obstacles? A Spicy read to find out!

Love and the Three of Cups is a cute, small town queer romance! It gives all the warm fuzzy feelings, while addressing some important topics without making them feel heavy at all. I loved Hannah and Kate's dynamic.

Sigh. This was such a sweet story. I read the whole thing in one sitting. Victoria Hamel knows the job; this was angsty without being melodramatic, and I was really rooting for Hannah and Kate to build a new family together. Have I mentioned hot?!! Phew. *waves face* I loved this one.

Love and the Three of Cups is a steamy light read that hits Halloween, Turkey Day, and Christmas. I will say that Kate makes the best Grinch around. 😆

I thought this story was very sweet. I love how the author developed the community surrounding the MCs. Even with their emotional baggage getting in the way, I love how everything was concluded by the end of the book.
