I absolutely DEVOURED the second installment of the Fourtune City Mafia series. Sydney and Jade are friendship goals and the complex relationships Sydney has with her men are explored even more deeply. We see her continue her independence and really growing into her own. The men were chef’s kiss as always and I loved seeing them squirm. We get more glimpses into her relationships with Seb and Viper which was such a treat. The cliffy the book ends on had me on the edge of my seat and has me salivating for book three!

OMG this book! I had the hardest time putting it down to complete my actual work. I loved it. The emotional rollercoaster I was just taken on, and that epilogue? Chef's kiss. I cannot wait for book three to come out.

Dangerous Thoughts is coming February 14th and it’s absolutely for the Seb & Viper lovers 🖤
Sebastian shines as my favorite of the 4 MMCs in this installment and it made for such a great read!! Alec and Ash…. they may have been the source of many frustrated highlights/notes, but it was a conflict that lead to Sydney standing her ground and setting boundaries that were so needed after the events of book 1 (you’ll have to read to see who followed those like a good boy 👀)
I enjoyed the new characters introduced and there were so many conversations Sydney had with Jade & Justin that had me yelling “yeah!!!!!” I love how relatable the Evelyn’s make the inside of these platonic friendships. It’s a relief between all the danger she’s entangled in to read about her and Jade getting drinks and trying new crafts together, which led to me laughing right along with them.
All that aside, this is a dark mafia romance and we’re definitely getting higher stakes in book 2! The spice is *chefs kiss* amazing. Don’t skip the trigger warnings before diving in to make sure you’ll vibe with the book! This was a fast read just like Dangerous Men and I cannot wait to eat up the third book after another killer cliffhanger!

I got the incredible opportunity to read this as ARC, just like with Dangerous Men.
That I enjoyed it would be an understatement. It’s clear that it’s a continuation, so best to read Dangerous men before. Jade, remains and I think will be forever my favorite character. Her dry wit, her supportiveness and her contagious energy is everything. And the men.. how do I even begin? Out of the four, Alec remains my favorite. But I’m warming up to Seb. Maybe even Viper still. I loved how Syd was not suppressing her angry side as much. And that ending.. I’m still reading.. part three is coming soon right? Right?!

I was given an ARC through the authors, this review is based only on my opinions and my opinions only.
I spent every waking moment I had today reading this book losing sleep because I simply could not put this book down, I haven’t read a book I couldn’t put down like this since the first book was released. I am genuinely obsessed with everyone in this book and everything the FMC stands for and how she handles her own evolution as a character. The men…..just wow, I simply have no words for how hot this book was. I am eagerly awaiting the next book. Read the trigger warnings this may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it was definitely mine. I can’t say more without feeling like i’m spoiling this amazing aggressively spicy masterpiece so I leave you with this. “I don’t have to do it. I could hang up right now. But I follow his orders”

Your favorite characters are back in Dangerous Thoughts, book two of the Fortune City Mafia series.
While brothers, big broody bossman Alec and love bombing puppy Ashton were the leading men of Sydney's blossoming new version of relationships in book one, we get a much better look at the remaining two brothers in the wake of the events of book one. The composed, ever-watchful Sebastian and rabid attack dog Viper are eager to emerge from their respective shadows and unleash the parts of Sydney that they know she has hidden from the world, and even herself, uniquely embracing and claiming those pieces for themselves, leaving no doubt that they have left their mark on Syd, and the readers.
Where does that leave the other two brothers though? The ones on our stupid, lying, assholes shit list after book one? Well, that's for Sydney to decide, and for you to find out.
And Jade! As if we could ever forget the sister we wish we had! She's just as fun in book two, back at her full time job of keeping Sydney relatively whole, while simultaneously pushing her to figure her shit out the way only the very best of friends can, and running the cafe inside their bookstore. I love their unbreakable bond. It's a sisterhood all women should have.
And new characters! Yaaaaaas! What's not to like/love about them?
But it's not all filthy, delicious fun and games. There's still that pesky past that doesn't seem to want to stay behind all of them. In fact, it seems more present than ever. What does that mean for Syd? Can she accept that the men in her life aren't the versions of themselves she believed them to be? Can she handle their truths the way she handles other parts of them? Can she accept herself as the woman they see her to be? What does it mean for the brothers? Are they able to keep the girl and their carefully built empire out of the vengeful hands of the man they previously believed to be dead? If so, at what cost?
Book two is just as devourable as the first, laying down some honest facts, delivering laugh out loud quips, and making you blush hoping that no one is able to see your screen while in public.
BUT, I would just like to say, how very rude of the authors to leave us hanging the way they have, yet again. RUDE! The least they can do is give us Dangerous Deeds the moment it's done, so we can find out what happens next, because I need to know.
****Team Sebastian, BTW. It may be a “why choose” but that doesn't mean we readers can't have favorites. Voyerism isn't really my kink but I do so deeply love a quiet, intelligent, deadly man that keeps his cards close to his chest for the world, but would reveal everything for his lady love. F*cking swoon.****

Holy Shit. Like for real. This book had me in a chokehold the whole time.
Dangerous Thoughts is the second book in the Fortune City Mafia trilogy by the wonderful Evelyn Ward(s). You are once again joining Sydney and her band of Murderous men on a wild ride.
Sydney is angry, and she has every right to be angry. Some of her men know what space means and some, well, they think they know. She needs time and space from her men but circumstances are not always making that possible. When things start happen around her and too her, it’s a scary experience.
When she has to call them though it's no question they will burn the world if she but asks.
Ashton is still the wonderful golden retriever boy he is from the first book and I feel like he grows a bit in this book. He finally listens and he learns why his behavior is problematic.
Alec is self loathing and a devious bastard. He has to learn a lesson and what it takes for him to learn is terrifying.
Viper is babygirl. I mean, Viper is still still the same insane mountain of a man and we get to see more for him in this book. He is a great mix of menace and surprise. I agree, who doesn't love kittens and little rabbits?
Sebastian is the king of actual consent is this one. He respects the lines Sydney puts down. Slutty Little Glasses really comes through in this one and I loved it!
I love that the authors delve into the difference of some books in a sort of tongue in cheek method. Using the ‘The Prince’s Blade’ and comparing to another fictional series there is a very good discussion mid-book regarding the Female Power Fantasy and the Male Power Fantasy.
Overall I would 100% recommend this series with no warning that it ends in a cliffhanger just to watch my friends have the same reaction I did.

This book is sheer perfection for me! Sydney & Jade’s friendship remains as loyal & loving as in Book 1 with Jade dropping truth bombs on Sydney like any real bestie would!
I cackled twice before I was even in chapter 1. Sorry, one of those times was super inappropriate but I’m dying to ask K if the resemblance is to someone still living or ? 👀 I know, it’s fiction, but still I can hope that fucker is rotting.
The men, well Mr. SLG (aka Seb or Doc) is in rare form throughout the book. He’s more than a kinky little voyeur & we get to know him so much better in this book.
Viper! Mmm, he’s everything I hoped for & still surprising af! Kinky little sadist!
Ash shows us his vulnerable side & we shares childhood memories with us.
And Alec… f*cking Alec! I nominate him for dumbest smart motherfucker in her polycule…because I wanted to slap the shit out of him FREQUENTLY!
Definitely surprises in this book and scenes (hinted at from content warning) that I was 100% sure would include so-and-so & take place in such-and-such place…did not in fact contain who I expected or happen where I expected!

If the first book was about Sydney hurt, recovering, and needing the shelter and protection Alec and Ashton can provide, book 2 is about Sydney strengthening, beginning her own, and choosing her own worth, as can be reflected by Sebastian and Viper.
Adding Jade's little brother to the mix is so incredibly perfect and I'm looking forward to seeing more about The Brat as we go.
And now, we have a faithful animal companion who seems smarter than all of the characters combined (as it should be).
The character development for the guy pack and the dynamic duo of Sydney and Jade is very well paced and helps endear each of them throughout the adventure. Jade is THE. BEST. And their devotion to each other is beautiful. If only everyone had a guaranteed Jade in their lives.
The spice, as we expected, is delicious, and I would rate it a solid 3.5/5 peppers. The meta humor is still top notch chefs kiss, and the sarcastic irony is so very well done.
How do you recover from betrayal? How do you move forward when honesty can be deadly? How do you defend your fantasy enjoyment while still holding your feminist card?

Yes hi, it’s me-one of the many obsessed with this series!
After reading book 1, I was waiting impatiently for book 2 to be released and I’m so thankful I was able to get my hands on this ARC.
To say my obsession grew more would be an understatement. I read this book so quickly I’m upset with myself because now I have to wait again for book 3.
The romance and longing? Check
The quirky friendship between Sydney and Jade? Back and better than ever
The additional characters added- bring more to the story and make things even more interesting
The suspense? Amazing
The writing? I couldn’t put the book down. I literally carried my kindle with me all over my house. I had a ridiculous early morning wake up time and guess what? Didn’t matter, I needed to keep reading.
The MMCs have been more rounded out, seeing inside their minds (especially Viper which was awesome) and really getting to hear them as individuals. They are everything you want for Sydney (and I’d be lying if I didn’t say myself either). I can’t figure out who I love more-Alec or Sebastian. Maybe both.
Evelyn Ward can create some swoon worthy men!
Seriously though, the last few pages will make you look around the room like you’re on a tv show wondering what the heck is going to happen next.

It was SO GOOD!
They wrote something marvelous. Not only was I swept away by the story, but the spice was hot. And it has helped me better understand myself and why I pretty much only read romance. And not just for the happy ending. And not just because it usually doesn’t kill off women for guy character development. Or it passes the Bechdel test. Or that women have more agency than a sexy lampshade. And why darker romance appeals to me.
This book, and the first one, are great.
I didn’t know how they were going to top:
“Very, extremely, vagina-loving gay woman here. Move along and please do not interact with or startle the lesbian.”
And
‘“And that stuff only happens in movies. Or in poorly written novels by authors who have no idea how the mafia works.” “Hey, those authors do a lot of painstaking research.”
But “Baking and cooking are completely different sciences! There are rules to baking. Precision, measurement, finesse. Cooking is like the wild west, and it stresses me out.” spoke to my soul. As did the discussion of The Prince’s Knife in the book club was so well done. And I refuse to have any more spoilers. Except the kitten will have a perfect life.

I started with Evelyn Ward's first series and I knew then that I would read anything they write. Is a mafia romance normally my thing? No. But as soon as I read the first book, I was hooked because of the writing, story, and characters, so I knew I had to read book 2 and it did not disappoint.
It's important to note that it is darker than the first book. Please read the content warnings!
The writing makes you feel like you're right there. It's so immersive and the multi-POV takes that even further.
This story basically starts right when the last one ends. It's a story about honesty, boundaries, friendship, and growth all in a dark mafia romance! I think it takes a ton of talent to be able to do that.
I wouldn't say there are role reversals, exactly, but you expect some characters to only act a certain way. It's never black and white and some of the guys surprise us.
How Sydney handles everything feels representative of how many of us feel when we feel conflicted between how we feel and we think we should act.
That's what I love about these books. You get an interesting spicy story that has more depth than you'd expect.
The guys? Well, we learn a lot more about them and their past.
Be prepared for lots of emotions!

How Sydney handles everything feels representative of how many of us feel when we feel conflicted between how we feel and we think we should act.
That's what I love about these books. You get an interesting spicy story that has more depth than you'd expect.
The guys? Well, we learn a lot more about them and their past.

Just like Dangerous Men, I absolutely Ate.This.Up
Like, in an unhealthy way. I'll set the scene. I fly home for a few days. I end up getting the flu the day that I get the arc. I loose track of time for a full 24 hours. Then suddenly I realize I need to refresh my memory from Book 1. So in my fever haze Saturday I re-read it, then have crazy dreams of stalkers, handcuffs, and hot coffee burning my feet (don't ask, it was a fever dream). Sunday starts with a migraine but I'm determined to read Dangerous Thoughts so I strap on an ice pack, down a shit ton of excedrin migraine with even more coffee, and buckle in for a spicy ride that makes me pissed off that I'm sick and can't jump my husband's bone(s).

Y'all. I read this book in 13 hours. I've got responsibilities. I've got obligations. However, none of that mattered once I cracked open this bad boy. I was so completely engulfed by Sydney and her Dangerous Men that an asteroid could've hit my house and exploded and they'd have found my remains still clutching my kindle.
This series has me in such a chokehold. The story itself is incredibly twisty and amazing, the characters are swoon-worthy (in a delicious, deadly way), and the spice is SUPERIOR. Seriously, second to none. Chef's kiss all around.
I love and respect the ending of this book (read: it destroyed me mentally and emotionally and I'm still not okay) and I cannot wait to see how this newest cliffhanger is resolved in book three!

I received Dangerous Thoughts which is book Two in The Fortune City Series.
I received it just before heading to bed, I thought I'll just read ONE chapter.... 3 1/2hrs later I was utterly immersed into the story!
Ok, I may have a favourite out of the 4 Unhinged men infatuated with Sydney. And that man is ꜱᴇʙᴀꜱᴛɪᴀɴ, anytime that man was mentioned I swear I wanted to bite my Kindle. 🤭
But I still am all over Alec, Ash and Viper! These men are totally smitten with Sydney.
If you have read Dangerous Men which is book one you will know that it ends with a cliffhanger that had me hardstuck for ages!
Book two continues, into a running start. This book had amazing pacing and I felt like every character really loved their own life's in this story.
Safe to say I could not put this book down. When a book keeps you up till the brids start talking , you know it's a good book!
Will Alex, Ash, Sebastian and Viper be able to win back Sydney?
And will they be able to figure out the mysterious figure trying to take them down from the inside?

It took me 25 hours to read this ARC only because I had to stop and adult. I was on an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish that ranged from fuck them men Syd to omfg noooo I'm gutted at the end. From the beginning it draws you in making it almost impossible to put down. We got to see a slightly different side of Seb (love him), you want to jump in the book and smack Alec in the head multiple times, Ash almost drove me nuts but then won me over when he finally realized what he did was wrong (thanks Seb) and well Viper is going to Viper but I still love him. I have a simultaneous love hate relationship going on with the authors right now, I absolutely love they wrote the book, hate the fact it ended the way it did! I will definitely be counting down to Book 3 because I need to know more!!

THE SEBASTIAN FANS WERE EATINGGGGGGGGGGGGG IN THIS BOOK!!!! That man and his slutty little glasses could tell me to walk off a bridge and I would WITH A SMILE ON MY FACE! Him and viper this book were ON ONE AND I LOVED IT!!!! The unlocking the door scene?!?? ICONIC!!!! The alley way scene?!?! AMAZING!!!!! I literally had so much fun reading this book and I enjoyed it more than the first one!! The fact that VIPER DID WHAT HE DID IN THE LAST FEE CHAPTERS?!?! Swoon!! I NEED BOOK 2 EXPEDITIOUSLY because that ending TORE MY HEART OUT!!!!
If you love dark mafia romances with why choose trope this is the book for you besties! You have to read book one Dangerous Men first and read your trigger warnings!!! But I seriously loved it! It was kinky and sexy and angry and I wanted to give Sydney a hug the whole time to let her know she will be ok!!! And Ash in that box seat?!?!? DYINGGGGGG!!! Definitely give this one a read besties!!!

You bet your ass I dropped everything to read this immediately.
After the bombshell ending of book 1 I was dying to know what was going to happen with Sydney and her men. This was definitely a slow burn and some miscommunication but I ate it up. It was still filled with spice and protective men 😍
Sydney stood her ground with wanting space from her guys, rightfully so. Alec should have been honest from the start and he fucked up. I do wish he’d grovelled more but it was a start and I like that he was being honest with Sydney about who they really are and what they do.
Ashton my little golden retriever, I love him so much. He definitely didn’t want to give Sydney space, it was physically impossible for him 😂
Viper is still as psycho as ever and I approve.
Sebastian is strong, steady and exactly what Sydney needed in this book.
Overall, this book was everything I needed. I can’t wait for book 3, I’m hoping for some group spicy scenes 😍

Book 2 picks up where book 1 (Dangerous Men) leaves off and the excitement doesn't stop.
Sydney is learning to move on after the events in book one but her ride-or-die bestie is right by her side (Jade is seriously the bestest of best friends!). We are also introduced to Jade's little brother Justin who is just adorable and I hope we continue to see lots of him in the next book.
I loved that we got to see a lot more of Sebastian and Viper in this one! Sebastian was such a great love interest and we got some great insight into Viper and how he views Sydney.
Sydney's character development here is top tier - I love it when the FMC starts to embrace her darker side!
The story ends on a cliffhanger (much as book 1 did) and I can NOT wait for the next installment in Sydney's story.
I would definitely recommend this to fans of dark romance, why-choose, and mafia romance.

Okay, I devoured this book in one day. One more chapter turned into finishing the entire book, lol. This is the second book in the series and picks up immediately after the first. I loved diving back into the Sterling Brothers’ world and seeing how each of them handled Sydney’s decision to step away while she tried to sort through her feelings after learning their secret.
While I really enjoyed watching Sydney grow and navigate life on her own, there were moments where her choices frustrated me. Even though I am not usually a fan of the miscommunication trope, it did not stop me from devouring this book. I loved getting more insight into Viper and Sebastian, as well as seeing Jade and Sydney’s friendship and how truly ride-or-die they are for each other.
This book ended on another cliffhanger, so now I am impatiently waiting for book three. I am so thankful I was given the opportunity to ARC-read this banger.

This was a 4/5 rating for me. I think after the cliffhanger in the first book I wanted something a bit more dramatic to happen in book 2. It was a great book, and I read it in 24 hours, so it’s definitely worth the read!! Just felt like something was missing for me personally. I did like that it left off on another shocking scene and I’m looking forward to reading the third book when it comes out!! I thoroughly enjoy this series and I can’t wait to see what happens next. I think Sebastian became my favorite in this book! He is just so sweet and attentive to Sydney and her needs that it really made me love him even more than the first book. I was hoping for a bit more of Viper in this book, so hoping he has more scenes in the next one. Thank you to the authors for this arc copy for an honest review. Sydney and Jade’s friendship is what every girl deserves! I’m lucky to have two myself and am often reminded how lucky I am and it saddens me that this isn’t normal!!

We met Jade’s little brother in this book and he is amazing, the book club scene is so good! I kept my guards up with him though worried that there was going be some plot twist about him.

This book will make you feel all the feels, laugh out loud and panic speed read covering the bottom of the page so you don’t accidentally spoil it for yourself and everything in between!!

This book was a RIDE, that had me on the edge of my seat the whole time.
I finished it at 4:30am and Im just buzzing with energy.
The barely bridled feminine rage in this one was *chef's kiss*
Once again, the Spice in this might have been great (it really was), but the TRUE highlight and joy for me in this book is Jade and Sydney's friendship. 🥺 Their bond and love for each other is so unbelievably beautiful.
Sebastian was also the GOAT in this one. we love a king who respects *boundaries*and consent.
I absolutely enjoyed the hell out of this and these authors really have cemented themselves into my auto-buy list. 🫶

Phewww and I thought book 1 was awesome, but this upped the captivation levels. It's hot as hell and yes it's dark and have a lot of violence, stalking, etc., but unless you have triggers, you won't be able to put it down. To quote Jade "it's like episodes of Sydney and her mysterious me". You'll get to see an unexpected side of Sebastian and some more of Viper and his sadistic side. Then there's Bea, the cute little kitten with her tendencies to harass the clients. This book is seriously filled to the brim. Sydney finally got to meet Annika, but my lips are sealed, no spoilers here. Just a warning that the end is a shocker of a cliffhanger and I'm begging for book 3 asap!!!

This was just as good as Dangerous Men and I loved every second of it. Getting to see a deeper side of the boys was everything I wanted it to be, Sydney is still that girl and I love her with every fiber of my being, and Jade is still the badass best friend that she always has been. I was blushing and giggling like a fool while reading this but other parts had me gasping and gripping my kindle I was so nervous. The last few chapters really hurt my heart and I am anxiously awaiting the next book. A phenomenal addition to the Fortune City series, I cannot recommend it enough!

Dangerous Thoughts is book 2 in the Fortune City Mafia series. It picks up Sydney, Alec, Ashton, Viper and Sebastian's story from Dangerous Men. This story is intense and emotional, dramatic and intriguing. It'll consume you from page one and doesn't let up. Sydney is put through the wringer but her guys are there to make certain that she bounces back. But this time it's different and that's be easier said than done. Dangerous Thoughts ends on another huge cliffhanger! Dangerous Deeds can't come fast enough!
