Paws and Probable Cause #3

DOWN: A Paws & Probable Cause Mystery

Rate this book
In the war between progress and preservation, someone just committed murder.

Spring has finally arrived in Tidal Cove. The snow is melting. The tourists are returning. And real estate developer Raymond Cross is face-down at his controversial construction site.

Cross had enemies everywhere. Environmentalists who'd chained themselves to his bulldozers. Locals who didn't want their town turned into a resort playground. Business partners with secrets in the contracts.

Even Wren has been fighting him. The feral cat colony she's been caring for lives on the land he planned to destroy.

Now she's a suspect. And so is everyone else.

But Wren notices something the police miss. The feral cats are acting strange. They've been watching the site for months. They saw who came and went the night Cross died. They know the escape route the killer used.

The cats can't testify. But Wren can read their fear. And what she discovers leads to secrets buried deeper than any foundation.

A cozy mystery about the price of progress, the cats who guard the truth, and a community torn apart. Book 3 in the Paws & Probable Cause series. Your spring escape awaits.

The endings of each mystery

I love the way Sophie Lyon ends each mystery solved , but continues to give more information about the lives of the people and the animals. And then she gives us a few details about the next mystery Wren is about to be involved in. I love the way this family is growing closer and trusting each other. I love the way this family especially Bea connects with Wren. I’ve cried a lot through this book, some sadness and some happy tears. The books are thoughtful and refreshing. But also have a lot of mystery and intrigue.

Great mystery plot entwined within some good behavioral information about cats. I like the way this author ties up loose ends for all of the characters instead of ending the book once the crime was solved but in this instance there was a bit of repetitiveness - my reason for the 4 stars. This is a great cozy mystery series with lots of animals and interesting characters. I look forward to continuing this series!

and the story goes on

This book has lots of story lines that I thought ended when the murder was solved. This book wrapped up a lot of story lines that were not essential to wrap up. Nice but the book felt long. I wish Jonah would push for a more permanent relationship with Wren. They haven’t said a lot about his grieving status directly. Let’s see what the next book tells us…

Amazing animal behavior and a good mystery

This is a great book about observing animal behavior but also a great mystery is entwined throughout the story. Many characters that are artfully described to where you feel like you know them. There are several good life lessons to discover as well.

This book needs an editor to review it asap. The facts of the book change, he\him and she\her used incorrectly often. The book goes from current to past without understanding. The topic was good and charactors have potential but descriptors need help immediately. The same descriptors are on repeat so much, I scan read when a description of environment was being written. It has potential with a few edits throughout the series.

Mystery, caring, homey

Likable main characters, dialogue that explains and helps you know emotions. Growing together...home, community and caring for life...including the animals...those in our homes, those without real homes. Love the mystery!

A unique cat murder mystery that's nor paranormal!

Anyone with animals in the family knows they don't "speak English" but the speak my actions, behaviors and how the family interacts with them. This book gives a great example of using cats to solve a murder.

Down

Again, Sophie Lyon has created a beautiful story filled with intrigue, laughter, togetherness and change. Just when I thought the story was over, Lyon brings in more heartfelt, tear creating feelings. Down is a book worth reading and enjoying.

Feral cats

Cats are the largest killers of birds and small animals. In our town, there are too many cats, and my Robin nests are suffering. So when this book concentrates on a feral cat colony, it lowers the rating for me, even if they do help Wren solve a murder.

a cat mystery

This was another excellent read. Sad for ghost. But the colony is protected and the murderer will spend his time in jail.
