Aaron Kiefer just wanted to get stoned in peace. Instead, he stumbles into a nightmare.
The only reason he survives is because of Pulsar—a chaotic little sleep paralysis demon who crashes his fight and rocks his world.
Together, it’s up to them to stop wild devils before they run rampant. But between the spooky government agency breathing down their necks, untangling their new partnership, and surviving adulthood, it’s going to be a lot to handle. And that’s before they learn what’s truly at stake.
Our Devils is the first book in a darkly funny, R-rated urban fantasy series about monsters, hyperviolence, and trying to grow up a little too late in life. Perfect for fans of Digimon, John Dies at the End, and Invincible.
A type of urban fantasy that is sorely needed in fiction these days. It’s snarky, it’s funny, it serves up the gore one scene and it’s referencing Twilight the next. This one is for the generation that grew up being called a loser for liking anime, BEFORE it became mainstream. As a fresh author’s first book, I think it’s a solid start and it’s got me interested in a sequel already.
Really not for readers who enjoyed John Dies at the End. It's not funny but slice of life where JDATE was propulsive and interesting, and replaces the Lovecraftian with gore. Competently enough written from a mechanics standpoint but nothing interesting or new. More like slasher horror with common paranormal elements in vibe. Pages and pages of blow by blow.
All he wanted was denied him when they turn up. He will join them trying to fight the demons before they overrun the world. Life is going to get very complicated and chaotic very quickly. See just how he deals with it all I received an advance copy from hidden gems and a wonderful read
I couldn’t get enough of this book. The characters feel so much more real than most other books I’ve read recently. This feels like a realistic take of what might happen in this nightmarishly cool situation, and you can tell the author had a blast writing it. Incredibly emotional, action packed, with some incredibly hilarious moments to boot, Our Devils was a hell of a ride from beginning to end. Can’t wait for the sequel!!!
