She believed in love. He believed in control. Neither expected to believe in each other. Sunnie wasn’t looking for forever but love has a way of showing up in the most unexpected places—sometimes shirtless, tatted, and unapologetically dangerous. Jules Jones, better known as Pyro, had a reputation that spoke louder than his words ever did… until her. What began with tension turned into territory. Now she wears his last name and his fire on her skin but in a world full of chaos, exes, secrets, and smoke, the real question is—Can two wild hearts build something that won’t burn? This is more than a love story. It’s a blaze and once it starts…There’s no going back.
Spoiler alert 🚨 This was my first read by this author. The book started off good but lost steam in the middle toward the end. I think the plot could have been developed more. Why was Pyro relationship with his mom fractured? They never really developed that. Why was his sister pit against him. What was the point of Dame bringing the ex to Thanksgiving and the mom bringing Pyro ex-wife? Some things felt random and didn’t make sense. When did Lisa and Lincoln hook up? Where was Sunnies mom? I felt like there were a ton of plot holes and the book was filled with a bunch of random sex scenes.
this books pacing has made it difficult to finish. it feels as if majority of what is happening between the characters, we are being told instead of seeing and experiencing the connection ourselves as the readers! As far as I have gotten the characters have had 3 physical interactions (outside of them meeting) and 2 out of the 3 have been sexual yet we are told that they feel so strongly for each other to the point of the FMC (spoiler alert*) getting a tattoo of the mmc’s name, ma'am that is a stranger? Also another spoiler* the mmc burns the ex house down with him there unprovoked?? If I continued reading I would have found myself in a slump! A subplot within this story would have improved it IMO, as the book solely being character forward is not enough for me to finish.
Going into Pyro, I had high expectations because the hype around this book was everywhere. After finishing it though…it was just okay to me.
The story definitely had its moments but it didn’t hit as hard as I expected. I kept waiting for that moment where everything really pulled me in, and it never fully happened.
Not a bad read at all but just not the explosive experience the title (or the hype) made me think it would be.
However, Pyro is definitely a man I want no parts of. 😭 That man be doing stuff completely unprovoked.
Entertaining to read about…but not a man I’d want anywhere near my life.
The inconsistency in this book is the reason I gave 3⭐️ I liked the story but let’s be real a controlling man is NOT attractive at least not to me I don’t even play like that but anywho, the perfume for starters how is it when he went to purchase it, it was the one she originally wanted but didn’t get it because Larry didn’t like it but when she retrieved the gift off her porch it was one similar but he designed the scent THAT MAKES NO SENSE!! How did her dad even know about Pyro there was nothing ever said about them to the dad, how did the gm know about them, nothing else was mentioned about them messing around, what was the purpose of Pyro mama showing up on his door step asking for a grandchild she wasn’t even a good mama to him MAKES NO SENSE!!!!! they didn’t talk to one another for 3 months but he shows up at the Freaknik party, clear the party out and she goes home with home Fawk all night get a tattoo that says Pyro Property when did that happened and all of this without being in a relationship when she’s supposed to be the wife type THAT MAKES NO SENSE!!!!! And to set Larry house on fire and kill him made absolutely NO SENSE they weren’t even messing around anymore and it had been months. The overly mentions of her belly was very aggravating. BOOKTOK loves to hype books up.

My goodness what a read! Sunnie and Jules were a chaotic couple who had a palpable chemistry. There was lots of push/pull for control in the beginning. Sunnie made him feel it in his chest though and when presented with an ultimatum, Jules manned up. After he called her bluff in the kitchen (IYKYK), their forever was cemented for them. Jules didn’t play about his “pretty girl” and was willing to do whatever to ensure she was protected and would always be by his side. Despite him claiming he wasn’t a relationship kind of guy, I did love them together and watching his development. He really just wanted to make sure that he was whatever it was that Sunnie needed. And I appreciated her being such a strong FMC. Their banter was great too.
I do feel like there were some things I wish were fleshed out more. Like their early situationship days, it had me feeling like I was missing context when their relationship progressed. And I also wish we had a bit more background into Jules’ history. How did the dynamic with his mom and sister begin? How did he end up with Granny? How did fire become his thing?
The book was good until it right until they got married. Then it got repetitive with a whole bunch of random ass scenes with no context behind them. Bc where was Sunny’s mom ? What happened to pyros daddy ? His relationship with his mom ? & this random ahhs “wife” with the crunchy wig come from, why did she feel it was necessary to come to thanksgiving. What was the sister and his relationship like ? How you go from 4 months to 7months pregnant ? Lisa did all that motivational speaking to sunny about her being somebody wife just for her ass to go goosin on a married man. THENNNN she got a ring ? FOH 🙄 & not pyro bullied that man to tell his wife? So what she left him and he married the random fling? I think either yall being paid for these reviews orrrrrr idk bc yeah STOP LYING !
“He was the kind of fine that made your throat dry and your thoughts nasty. Like God carved him out of gunpowder and grief, kissed his knuckles, then told him to go ruin women for sport.”
-unhinged, toxic fire sign MMC -thick bodied FMC -grandma/grandson bond -insta love -detailed spice, “eater” MMC -funny banter -choosing healthy love -fast, unsteady pacing -check your trigger warnings
I enjoy an unhinged MC so, I knew I’d enjoy this when it was recommended. Pyro is immature, easily fueled by rage & will go to extreme measures to prove a point. I liked that the FMC Sunnie matched his blunt energy and stood her ground around his disrespect.
The pacing however was fast but, continued to ebb and flow between making sense and leaving plot holes. There were a lot of overemphasized moments that were never clarified. The MCs weren’t flushed out fully. So, it was surface level which made it more confusing for why these two were a pair.
Granted, when one of the MCs are unhinged in these kinds of books the storyline will fall into place however. So, I knew to expect the unexpected. But, I felt like it could’ve come together stronger. The first half was so good then, the storyline just went everywhere all at once.
Overall, it was an entertaining story that felt unrealistic. But, engages you enough to see the story through. This was my 1st book from the author. I’d try something else to see if the writing style is different.
The story had great potential, but there were too many "holes" in the storyline. There were so many times I went back to reread, because I thought I missed something pages before. It had VERY good potential.. just wasn't fleshed out enough for me. The time jumps were weird, it took me a minute to figure out what was going on and when. What was the deal with his mama, sister and Dessy? Did Lincoln leave his wife for Lisa? When did Lisa and Julie run into each other for Lisa to have given her a black eye? And for what reason? Was he previously burning down buildings or people? Is he a gangster? And the reiterating/ professing of their love for each other becomes a bit redundant. I gave it 3 stars.

This started really good. I love me a chaotic thug but it felt like there was soo many plot holes. Like the book was written too fast and we were missing whole scenes and pieces. It felt like the story was happening in the background. Also the characters got together so fast the plot started to lack and it just became repetitive and I felt like there was nothing left to invest in. Somehow the story moved fast with a lot of random scenes but also nothing happened at all 🤷🏾♀️
This was cool but I will admit I got tired of stuff either being full of sin or full of fire, also Jules needed some therapy. It's not very clear how he was abused by his mother or maybe I just didn't get it. Overall, I love how he was when he finally committed to a relationship with Sunnie
I really enjoyed this book and loved how Sunnie matched Jules’s energy. There were continuity issues and what felt like episodes where the story was completely left out which was confusing. When exactly did she get the tattoo? In the middle of the night? How exactly did she go from 4 months pregnant to actually being 7 months pregnant and had no idea? What happen with Lincoln and Lisa? It mentioned Lisa got a ring… was it from Lincoln? Some info on how that unfolded would’ve been nice. Solid read from a new to me author but these small details would’ve scored it higher. I’m interested enough in her catalogue so off to book 2: phantom.

Sunnie was a whole trip with all that talking, but she definitely met her match in this one! 🤐 It was so satisfying watching her go from talking a big game to being completely quiet the second she stepped into Pyro’s space.
Pyro is a whole mood quiet, dangerous, and the type of alpha who doesn't have to say much to take over. The chemistry between them is explosive; the transition from her mouthy attitude to 'legs in the air' had me hooked!
First book by the author and she did not disappoint AT ALL!! I received this book as an ARC and it was good from beginning to end!! I love a good insta love and happily ever after!! 10/10!!! Loved Jules and Sunny
Possible SPOILERS: I enjoyed this read. The book started off so good I was up until 2am giggling just like granny. I adored Pyro and Sunnie. I love watching couples fall in love, submit properly and heal together. I had a few questions though…… Why didn’t Pyro’s mom truly love him like a parent should? I couldn’t wrap my mind around the relationship with his mom or the sister. Why did Dame bring the ex to Thanksgiving? Pyro didn’t do relationships but had a secret ex-wife? When did Lisa and Lincoln hook up? Were the boys on the trip and I over looked it? Where was Sunnies mom? All in all it was a good read, with great spit bubbles 😏 and a lot of chaos.
I rounded this up to 4 stars from 3.5/3.75. Honestly the first half was good I thought that this would be a 5 star, but then halfway through it fell off.
On a positive note I love that Sunnie stood up for herself no matter what and didn’t accept half measures.
Slight spoiler
It went from lust, tension, and banter that was soooo well done to we’re in love and getting married. That really threw me off, sex two-three times, no dates, and we’re sure about each other after a three month break???? It was just hard for me to believe. Also, I never figured out when this tattoo happened on Sunnie……
I also wanted more from the plot there was so much potential. What was the beef between Pyro and his mom/sister? Why did Pyro go the jail? And was he a veteran? Where was Sunnie’s mom/grandparents? Was Pyro in the streets? Because he definitely had a gun at the club and was like everyone knows me….is that where the name pyro came from?
All that to say, there was a lot of room for more than just intimacy, and so much depth that could have been added to Jules.
This was a hard read. Barely finished. Definitely needs editing. I was confused about 30% in. Thought i missed some chapters. Felt that way the whole book. I see a lot of reviews say the same thing. I thought it would get better. It did not. Felt like it was skipping chapters the whole book. And so super repetitive. Like a robot wrote it.
I’m not sure how to feel about this book and the story. Definitely got attached to the characters (loved the friendships and girls nights) but I couldn’t fully buy into what tethered Pyro & Sunnie together beyond the physical. I thought it would’ve made for a great homie-lover-friend type story but it ended in marriage and the author didn’t put in enough work to show the love between them. Or maybe the chaos of everything was their way of being in love? There was definitely lust but the love wasn’t really shining through. Super spicy but very unromantic and that upset me, I want EVERYTHING!! And don’t get me started on how things ended for Lisa… A forced marriage? Eish!! The writing is superb though — you can tell the author is also a poet. Definitely reading more of her work!

Let me start by saying that I did finish the book and I saw the potential. The spit bubbles were great. I saw who Pyro’s character was trying to be and I adored Granny. I wasn’t a fan of Sunnie’s sudden switch and that was the disconnect for me. She was so strong and admirable at the beginning but immediately she turned weak. I saw how the author tried to make Pyro obsessive but it did not land to me after their first spicy encounter after the club. I know this was insta love but I didn’t feel the love. I kept reading because I had to know if this love that was brewing between the so was going to be show and it fell flat for me most the time. There were also a few plot holes. One being that during their first encounter the only thing that happened was oral pleasure but as the book ended, it says she got pregnant during that encounter. I had to keep going back to read multiple times scenes because it felt like i missed detail but a lot just weren’t mentioned. Overall, it was an ok read. Kudos to the author for finishing and publishing a book.
Insta love. We’re told some of the most pivotal plot points instead of letting it play out. The story is fast paced to the point where I’m questioning if this is part of a series. Because of this, Pyro’s OTT behavior and the spice doesn’t hit as hard as it would have , if there were a build up to their relationship.
Overall I did not finish the book. I fell asleep around the time she announces she’s pregnant then she’s actually further along than they thought. When I woke up, I didn’t feel the need to finish.
I really wanted to like this book, I actually did enjoy the story line but the random jumping around threw me off. There was no true build up to the intensity of their relationship. It felt like "scenes" were missing.
*spoiler* For example, Lisa knew all about her night with Pyro; him spanking her. But we never heard Sunnie say that in that phone call.
Them only having spent time together once and to not talk for 3 months..then they were on the brink of being in love.
I did finish but definitely would have enjoyed more background info
Good book but as other have said the plot holes and pace of the book did impact the experience. I had to keep going back because it felt like I had missed whole chapters when they mentioned things just to realise we were never told. Even the pregnancy *maybe I'm air headed* but it seemed like he only gave her head the first encounter and near the end of the book she is pregnant from this! First time reading this author so will try more of her books and hopefully have a better luck

It started off good then it fell flat and repetitive. I was excited to see a FMC stand up for herself just for her and acknowledge her worth just for her to be dickmatized and dumb at the end. There were parts missing, the time line was off . The book had potential but I started to skim after they got married. We never got a real reason why he hate his mom and sister.
This book had potential. Loved the characters in the beginning but the time jumps was irritating. And so many details was skipped it really made you think you missed a chapter but the author just skipped things . Book felt very rushed .
Jules likes to do what he wants but Sunnie was his match. She kept pushing him and she knew he was a crashout. But babyyyyy Pyro was a real eater. Mr Spit Bubbles.
Two stars because this started really good. I’m like finally a MFC that’s not fallin all over herself because a man is fine 🙄🙄 over that at this point. It’s too many fine men to act the way these authors write the females in these books. But then ofc the MFC becomes weak, she gets some good “D” and now she can’t think straight. They never learned anything about each other so what other than sex were they so in love with?
On top of that I was confused most of the time. Like when she talked to her frd Lisa and without even telling her anything Lisa knew what happened like she was there. How? What part did they have a conversation for her to know these things? Then it mentioned the MFC got a tattoo of the MMC’s name, but when did this happen? The time it said it happened the story said NOTHING about them going to a tattoo parlor. They went to his place and had sex and then she left before he woke up the next morning. So when did she get the tattoo? I thought I missed something but no none of these things were ever mentioned. Also he just randomly burned down a man’s with him inside for no reason, and the reasons he gave was beyond stupid. It was a turn off to his character. Idk what the author was trying to prove but it wasn’t good.
I got to 51% and had to stop and read reviews because not only was I thinking I was tweaking but the story was starting to get repetitive. I had to come see if I was the only one nope we all had the same issue. At 51% we haven’t been told why him and his mama don’t get along just that they don’t, but that’s supposed to be the main reason for him not to want to be in a relationship. Then he has a sister that he also doesn’t get along with but that’s never explained. Randomly his mother shows up at his house to beg him to have babies? Like wtf why?
Yea so all this to say I’m not finishing. I should’ve stuck to my first mind. SM had been cycling this book through my feed forever and I kept ignoring it because I keep letting them send me off. And once again they’ve done it.🤦🏿♀️

PYRO is exactly what the title promises … heat, chaos, and a love that burns all the way through. 🔥
We follow Sunnie and Jules, known to the streets as Pyro, and baby… this was never going to be calm. Jules is used to control. Used to fear. Used to people folding. But then Sunnie enters the chat and said not today.
And I loved that for her.
Sunnie is not the one. She’s got attitude, a smart mouth, and zero interest in being told what to do … and that’s exactly what throws Jules completely off his game. What we get is a full-on tug of war between two strong personalities that turns into something intense, obsessive, and a little unhinged (in the way we secretly signed up for 👀).
The chemistry? Immediate. The tension? Constant. The dynamic? Possessive, chaotic, and addictive.
And let’s talk about the fire 🔥 because it’s not just literal, it’s symbolic throughout the entire story. Fire becomes the language of their connection… destructive, consuming, but also illuminating. Jules really lives up to the name Pyro, but what got me was watching him slowly realize that Sunnie is both his peace and his problem.
And when that man folded? Yeah… I ate that up.
This definitely leans into that insta-love, fast-paced energy, so if you like slow burn… this ain’t that. But if you want intensity from page one to the very end? You’re in the right place.
Also, shoutout to the friend groups on both sides. They brought humor, personality, and that banter I LOVE in a good read. It balanced out the chaos perfectly.
And yes… this one is STEAMY. From start to finish. No breaks. No warning. Just vibes 😮🔥
At its core, though, this is a story about a man who thought he had control over everything—until he met a woman who made him soften without losing who he is. And that shift? That’s the real story.
This was good. If you’re looking for lots of steam, psychotic behavior and a thorough and detailed book then this is for you. Lots of back and forth and basically lots of setting things on fire. Yep! Both the FMC and MMC were two arsonists 🤣🤣🤣 Pyro didn’t play about Sunnie after she set firm boundaries. He was traumatized from his dirty bird momma. His Granny was so petty and a straight up fool. No filter whatsoever. She came through for him tho. Pyro was that 🥷 and Sunnie was cool. I do feel like Pyro had mental issues and probably needed some therapy and Sunnie came right in and skipped over that fact and gave him an ultimatum. I didn’t like that part about her. He spent most of the book basically pinning behind her. Sunnie’s ex coming to Thanksgiving dinner was unnecessary and why would her brother even do that? Must have been for a filler. Also, I don’t feel like Lisa needed a ring. For what? Lincoln was cheating on his wife and got Lisa pregnant and all because Pyro threatened to burn the world down he manned up and left his wife to get another one because she was pregnant. Just take care of your baby. That’s it! Overall it was a good book to start the year off with.
This was my first time reading this author so I went in completely blind. I actually really liked this one!
We LOVE an unhinged MMC and Pyro was exactly that 😂 he was crazy in the best way. I really liked his relationship with his family too. His brothers were funny and his grandma was one of my favorite characters. She clocked him with that whole “I don’t do relationships” act and knew that he just needed to find the right one.
That’s where Sunnie came in. I loved her downnn! My girl wasn’t going for anything and her mouth? she was quick with it 😂 They both tried to fight it at first, but once Pyro hired her to clean for the day, it was kind of up from there.
The chemistry was there and the spice was PERFECT 😮💨 not too much, not too little, just right. What started off as a little fling turned into something chaotic but still very cute in its own way.
Overall this was a solid read for me and I’m definitely interested in seeing what else the author has!
