She believed in love. He believed in control. Neither expected to believe in each other. Sunnie wasn’t looking for forever but love has a way of showing up in the most unexpected places—sometimes shirtless, tatted, and unapologetically dangerous. Jules Jones, better known as Pyro, had a reputation that spoke louder than his words ever did… until her. What began with tension turned into territory. Now she wears his last name and his fire on her skin but in a world full of chaos, exes, secrets, and smoke, the real question is—Can two wild hearts build something that won’t burn? This is more than a love story. It’s a blaze and once it starts…There’s no going back.
My goodness what a read! Sunnie and Jules were a chaotic couple who had a palpable chemistry. There was lots of push/pull for control in the beginning. Sunnie made him feel it in his chest though and when presented with an ultimatum, Jules manned up. After he called her bluff in the kitchen (IYKYK), their forever was cemented for them. Jules didn’t play about his “pretty girl” and was willing to do whatever to ensure she was protected and would always be by his side. Despite him claiming he wasn’t a relationship kind of guy, I did love them together and watching his development. He really just wanted to make sure that he was whatever it was that Sunnie needed. And I appreciated her being such a strong FMC. Their banter was great too.
I do feel like there were some things I wish were fleshed out more. Like their early situationship days, it had me feeling like I was missing context when their relationship progressed. And I also wish we had a bit more background into Jules’ history. How did the dynamic with his mom and sister begin? How did he end up with Granny? How did fire become his thing?
First book by the author and she did not disappoint AT ALL!! I received this book as an ARC and it was good from beginning to end!! I love a good insta love and happily ever after!! 10/10!!! Loved Jules and Sunny
This was good. If you’re looking for lots of steam, psychotic behavior and a thorough and detailed book then this is for you. Lots of back and forth and basically lots of setting things on fire. Yep! Both the FMC and MMC were two arsonists 🤣🤣🤣 Pyro didn’t play about Sunnie after she set firm boundaries. He was traumatized from his dirty bird momma. His Granny was so petty and a straight up fool. No filter whatsoever. She came through for him tho. Pyro was that 🥷 and Sunnie was cool. I do feel like Pyro had mental issues and probably needed some therapy and Sunnie came right in and skipped over that fact and gave him an ultimatum. I didn’t like that part about her. He spent most of the book basically pinning behind her. Sunnie’s ex coming to Thanksgiving dinner was unnecessary and why would her brother even do that? Must have been for a filler. Also, I don’t feel like Lisa needed a ring. For what? Lincoln was cheating on his wife and got Lisa pregnant and all because Pyro threatened to burn the world down he manned up and left his wife to get another one because she was pregnant. Just take care of your baby. That’s it! Overall it was a good book to start the year off with.
this books pacing has made it difficult to finish. it feels as if majority of what is happening between the characters, we are being told instead of seeing and experiencing the connection ourselves as the readers! As far as I have gotten the characters have had 3 physical interactions (outside of them meeting) and 2 out of the 3 have been sexual yet we are told that they feel so strongly for each other to the point of the FMC (spoiler alert*) getting a tattoo of the mmc’s name, ma'am that is a stranger? Also another spoiler* the mmc burns the ex house down with him there unprovoked?? If I continued reading I would have found myself in a slump! A subplot within this story would have improved it IMO, as the book solely being character forward is not enough for me to finish.
Julies and Sunnie had to fight to love each other. Pyro went through ao much to get where he needed to be. I love how Sunnie put her foot down. They kept playing cat and mouse until she showed him that she wanted more. Pyro knew he couldn't lose her. It was a beautiful live story after they were able to love each other. Sometimes, it takes a woman putting her foot down to get what both of them need. I love the development of the main characters. The grandma was a beautiful soul. She saw what they both needed.
This was my first read by this author and definitely not my last! Pyro and Sunnie were a good time. This is truly insta-love at its finest. I would have loved if the reader got some explanation for his fractured relationship with his mother since it was so integral to his character development and growth. But Pyro was a force to be reckoned with, but Sunnie was no pushover and held her own. I loved that she made him work for her, and Pyro's changed behavior was lovely to witness.
I was super excited for this one and it really held my attention in the beginning but then there was a point where something happened and I paused because it completely took me out of the story
SPOILER AHEAD....
She got his named tattooed on her and FOR ME not only did it seem out of character for the fmc at the time but also I didn't feel like they were anywhere near that point in their relationship if that makes since? It was more TELLING me that they were in deep instead of showing and me FEELING it. And then things started getting super repetitive.
Insta love. We’re told some of the most pivotal plot points instead of letting it play out. The story is fast paced to the point where I’m questioning if this is part of a series. Because of this, Pyro’s OTT behavior and the spice doesn’t hit as hard as it would have , if there were a build up to their relationship.
Overall I did not finish the book. I fell asleep around the time she announces she’s pregnant then she’s actually further along than they thought. When I woke up, I didn’t feel the need to finish.
The opening sentence was insane but our arsonist Jules did what he did for control and eventually love. sunnie is the same firecracker that knows when to submit and realized the control she has with Jules that eventually turnt to love. I truly think that was such a different book. i was concerned of toxic love but it was actually soul ties and a respectable relationship. Jules worshipped the ground Sunnie walks on and i’m sure he wants to move into her body and vice versa i love it so rough but cute and romantic in a Harley Quin and Joker style
I lovedddd this book! The banter, the fire, the chaos, the emotion, the love, the friendships I loved it all. Sunnie was everything, she was exactly who she thought she was and Jules was not ready and I loved that for her. She broke that hard exterior all the way down and pieced him back together healed and in love. This was written beautifully and in full, not unnecessarily drawn out but just right. This book ended with you feeling full and warm inside the perfect little chaotic HEA.
Oh Pyro my Pyro. I love me a good unhinged man. Did he have flaws? Yes? Was he controlling? Again yes? Would I let me use those spit bubbles? Also yes?
It was some parts that were missed but all and all it was still a great story and one that I wouldn’t mind reading again if there were ever to be a continuation. You knew he fell first with the way he was acting but you also knew she wasn’t far behind him. My only thing was that I didn’t like how her weight was always brought up even with her saying how much she was in love with it. To me it almost still felt like an insecurity but it who am I. I still loved them. And baby that car scene, yeah I need to run that.
Pyro did not come to play in any sense of the matter. He stays ready to burn anything and anyone behind Sunnie.
When he thought he was bound to live a life full of chaos, control, ruthlessness - here comes a woman who doesn’t even want to indulge in the smoke, but has a mouth full of quick antics to make him question everything moving forward.
Probably my favorite thus far from my Sunshine reads.
Really enjoyed reading this but after Sunnie and Pyro got together and married, I felt like there was nothing else to keep reading about. The chase was what got me and how he didn’t want to lose her, fighting himself on not wanting to be in a relationship because he doesn’t do relationships. He couldn’t help himself, he was in love with her and knew she was the one for him.
This story was fire. Not overly dramatic, and straight to the point, like a shot of your favorite liquor. I loved Pyro down. I loved Sunnie more. When they got together, the love i had exploded outta my chest. Great read. Going to the other books in Sunshines catalog cuz i love the way she writes.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It started off so good and then kinda fell flat. I liked the writing style and the characters. The plot just didn’t have enough depth for me. Just random conflicts here and there but not enough to balance out all the spice. It still wasn’t bad just not as good as it could have been.
Sunshine you have done it again. Pyro and Sunnie’s love story was so intense quick and beautiful. When you know you have found the person that you will burn the world for.
I loved Pyro!! Out the gate my guy stood on BIG business, my kinda man. I like that Sunnie made him stand on not being a “relationship nigg” sis said he wasn’t about to play in her face & I love that for her. This was my first read by this author but it won’t be my last
This book was so good. I love the fact that she wasn't a damsel. She talked back, and she didn't let him run over her. It also shows them growing together. He had to work for her, she didn't just go with what he wanted to do, he had to earn her.
Ugh. Had such potential but most of the book was clearly written by AI. The constant descriptions of things (overly done), very predictable. I genuinely am so disappointed because how can you want to be an author but use AI to write the entire book?
Jules likes to do what he wants but Sunnie was his match. She kept pushing him and she knew he was a crashout. But babyyyyy Pyro was a real eater. Mr Spit Bubbles.
At the beginning the book was good. However, as I continued I felt as if I was missing parts of the story, particularly Sunnie and Pyro’s relationship.
I love an unhinged, crazy man that doesn’t play about his woman and that’s definitely Pyro. This book definitely had its funny moments and sweet moments, but it was missing something
