I’m still not sure where the “dark romance” part was supposed to kick in, but okay. This was an entertaining idea in theory, but the execution had me side-eyeing these characters like… really? They were in love for YEARS and never spoke up because they were scared, and somehow that led to whole families with other people. The math was not mathing.
The MMC definitely gaslit his child’s mother a little too confidently, which made a few scenes more awkward than emotional. The school plotline popped in, waved hello, and disappeared. Mook got a sprinkle of karma, but honestly one straightforward conversation could’ve saved everyone the drama.
The romance felt lukewarm and the “dark” elements didn’t really darken. And while it technically took place around Christmas, the holiday vibes were giving more “background prop” than festive.
