A good, easy to read western. The 5th in a series, the book does a good job developing the main characters and their relationship with each other. The villains are especially ruthless and immoral which distracted me from the story at times. The final gun fight and ending were a little short and could have been embellished some. All in all a good read and I plan to continue reading the series.

Ok for fluffy entertainment. Lots of superficial character development and then story gets rushed to climax almost as an afterthought. This really made a national news paper best seller list? If the category was "pulp" then yes.

I believe any western reader will enjoy this book. Action, romance, and a little comedy with good characters keeps the story interesting.

duff mccallister makes a deal with an Englishman that wants to purchase 300 of duff s black angus cattle.than 2 guys that are to be hanged in the morning escape jail.they start robbing places shooting towns people and burning buildings.they put together a gang that becomes known as the kingdom come gang,they take over a town and turn it into an outlaw town where anyone who is wanted by the police can stay there because everyone would be to afraid to stop them.they kidnap the sheriffs son and his friend whos mother works for the Englishman that purchased the cattle. duff and his friends need to get the boys back safe and put an end to the violence and stop the kingdom come gang...this book was well written and I love his style of writing and my mother and her sister get the books after I read them and love them as they were raised in Calgary and road their horses bareback where ever they went..since reading his book I I have purchased more and look forward to the adventure......

The newspapers called them the Kingdom Come Gang for their propensity to slaughter as many people as they could when raiding a town. Led by two men who'd escaped prison the night before they were to be hanged, they'd gathered some of worst cutthroats around them. A small town they'd taken over and killed the law, the mayor, and most of the town council.

Marauding in West Texas, They'd run afoul of Duff MacCallister, who made friends with the Englishman who'd bought 600 head of Black Angus cattle. It was also the area of his lady friend Megan's sister and her family, son and husband who was sheriff.

When they take the son and his friend, the Englishman's future stepson, Duff gathers a group to go after them.

The only problem had with this one was the brevity of the final showdown.

The book is first time in print, I like The MACCALLISTER Eagles Legacy series. The book stays true to form as does all of Johnstone books.

Good read as far as it goes. It reads like an introduction to a really good novel about young man.
