Neal Shusterman’s Game Changer is an ambitious young adult sci-fi novel that uses a multiverse premise to explore privilege through Ash, a high school football player who "bounces" into alternate realities after being concussed. While critics praise its fast paced, inventive concept and its ability to spark dialogue on racism and sexism, some find the social commentary heavy handed or preachy. Despite being less "timeless" than his Scythe series, it remains a highly recommended, thought provoking read for those interested in how small shifts in history can reshape modern identity.
