She never meant to fall for a famous musician. He never expected to find the one person who could bring love into his world.
Elizabeth Marlowe’s quiet coastal village is her peaceful place. The last thing she expects is that Theo Masters, world-famous musician, will crash into that peace, shaking it forever with his chaos. What begins in secret, becomes a love that neither of them know how to control. Theo is determined, obsessive and certain of one thing. He wants Elizabeth. But life has a cruel way of tearing through what they build, leaving both of them broken and questioning whether they can survive it. As darkness closes in, Elizabeth and Theo must face a truth that will change their lives forever. A truth that will either break them or bind them together in a way neither can imagine.
An emotional romance about healing, resilience and the kind of love that refuses to let go. You have to break before you can heal.
I was lucky enough to receive an early copy of The Sea Between Us and you’re in for a treat! Charlotte has achieved everything she set out to achieve in this book. Her writing made me feel everything she intended and although that meant I wasn’t the biggest fan of the main characters (except James, James has my heart) the power of the emotions she made me feel was incredible as a debut author!
The story is tough to read at times but the topics are handled with great care. I would say this is a story about all the different kinds of love and the challenges that come with it. Elizabeth and Theo do not have an easy ride but it’s written with the grit and intensity that comes with that. The use of dual POV and short chapters really worked. It allowed the reader to know both sides of the story and I connected with both lead characters more deeply due to this. The rollercoaster of emotions I went on with Elizabeth was unreal. One moment I wanted to scream in her face and give her a shake, the next minute I wanted to be her shoulder to cry on. The side characters were arguably my favourite, I loved the way the girls supported their friend through a crazy year.
This is a great debut and I have one very clever friend! I hope you’re proud of your achievement Charlotte!
If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I genuinely would. The Sea Between Us didn’t just move me — it completely wrecked me in the most beautiful way. From the very first chapter, I felt myself sinking into the atmosphere Charlotte created, but those final chapters… I’ve never experienced anything like it. I didn’t just tear up — I sobbed, full‑body, uncontrollable, heart‑in‑my‑throat sobbing. A book has never done that to me before.
I felt everything. Every emotion, every ache, every moment of hope and heartbreak. The characters felt so real it was like losing and finding people I knew.
And honestly, this book changed something in me. It reminded me how deeply a story can hit, how a book can reach into you and leave you carrying it long after you’ve finished.
This story deserves so much more recognition, so much more praise, because it’s rare to find a book that leaves a mark like this — one that stays with you long after the final page.
This isn’t just a favourite — it’s one of the most powerful reading experiences I’ve ever had.
First… I got sent this book from the Author and I am so so grateful for this! Especially because this is the first time I have ever been sent a book.
However… it really pains me to say that I read 100 pages and have decided to DNF this book for now. Honestly I don’t know if this is even the books fault or the fact I am in a bit of a slump following BOT. I hope that one day I can pick this book up and enjoy it but as a mood reader (in a bit of a slump) forcing myself through will guarantee I hate it.
I will say the concept of the book and the story is very intriguing and I was very curious of how the story goes but as I said I just couldn’t force this.
Thank you so much Charlotte! And congratulations ❤️
first I would like to say thank you to the author for sending me this ARC
let me start by saying that this book is completely out of my comfort zone, I am not usually a romance reader however I fell in love with the mmc at pg 16! from then on I had a very love/ hate relationship with him, he was so caring and considerate at time but my god did i want to shake some sense into him at other points! I really liked the fmc, for me she played out as a 'normal' person, she had flaws and she wasnt always picture perfect which I found more realistic and easier to read. I flew through this book and struggled to put it down so I could sleep, what I will say is that you MUST check the triggers before you read as this book absolutely ripped my heart out and stamped all over it! I sobbed and was still thinking about it for days after.
This was a fantastic read and apart from him being famous could be about any of us falling in love, the journey that takes us on and losses that we have.....I am dying to read the next in the series.
From the very first moment Theo notices Elizabeth outside the café, I was hooked. Their connection unfolds so naturally, and I found myself desperate for their paths to cross again — back at the shop, along the beach, and finally behind that cottage door. The chemistry is written with such authenticity, and the intimate moments feel raw, real and incredibly powerful.
The emotional progression from lust to love to heartbreak is stunning. The opera house scene in particular hit me hard — I felt every ounce of her sadness. I tried to predict the ending so many times, but nothing prepared me for the final chapters. When the truth arrives, it lands with such force that for a moment, the story felt painfully real.
And when you turn the final page, the title The Sea Between Us suddenly makes perfect, heartbreaking sense — it hits every nerve and emotion running through your body. It’s the kind of ending that lingers long after you finish reading.
I was incredibly lucky to be a proofreader for this book, and watching it evolve into such a powerful, polished and emotionally rich story has been a privilege. I’ll also be sharing this with my book club, Between the Wine Book Club, when it’s available. A gripping, soul-stirring read from a truly talented writer. I can’t wait to see what comes next. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The first page of this story gave me chills. Instantly I needed to know more. Then every chapter that followed continued in the same pattern. It was an absolute car crash but in a positive way!!! Let me explain.
Theo is a world class idiot. The biggest walking red flag I've ever seen. Every time he spoke i was infuriated. Everytime he made promises, I was screaming in frustration. He was awful but here's the thing. This could actually happen to someone. It felt so so real!
MMCs in books seem too polished these days. Opening doors, "who hurt you", ill do anything for you, ive loved you forever etc etc etc. And I LOVE these men because theyre not real 🤣 but Theo felt real. And I hate him 🤣🤣
Wow this review is a car crash but I promise, I enjoyed the story!!! I will absolutely read the next one and hope it matches.my frustration because it wasn't the writing or the plot, the pacing or anything technical that pissed me off.. i felt like I was on this journey with the characters!
Also, justice for James and we better get a book for him. Maybe second chance?? 😏😏
Also also, BEAR 🥰🥰🥰🥰

This book is a wild ride! I still don't know how I feel about the MMC but the FMC I came to love. There are powerful emotions in this book to be appreciated and the ups and downs kept me hooked and eager to read more. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey because it made me feel something at each stage, whether it was anger, heartache or love!
The final chapters caught me entirely off guard and totally hit me in the heart. There is a real trigger warning in this book but it has been handled with care and given the raw emotion it needs.
Having the opportunity to be a part of proofreading this novel and watching its success come through is a true privilege - thank you.
What an amazing start for this debut author - I can't wait to read the next one!
Everything I read up to a certain point was beautiful. I did however have a spoiler from a friend as to what was to come in the book. & without giving too much away for someone that is trying to conceive I found it best not to continue reading. The way Charlotte describes things making everything so easy to imagine and relate to is the reason I had to stop. It’s credit to the author and I plan on finishing one day! 🩷

I mean… I wrote it. However, saying that, I know not everyone is going to love this book. It’s going to be like marmite. You either love it or you hate it. The characters are a bit like that too. Regardless, I hope everyone that does read it gets one thing… emotion. I hope however it makes you feel, it’s with you entire chest
This is a hard one to review and star. Mainly because I have so many mixed feelings about this book. It started well. I loved the premise. A forbidden love story with a married singer. I was intrigued. Then it just started getting weird. I have mixed feelings about Theo. He’s possessive. Fine. But sometimes it just gets weird. He keeps turning up and being possessive over her despite knowing his situation. Why didn’t he start working this divorce thing out before if he was so enthralled by Elizabeth? Why was he so possessive and needy but also so passive about his own situation? Ridiculous imo. Then Elizabeth. She was so passive and contradictory in places. She frustrated me until she grew that backbone. Only to then go and lose it multiple times. No love is not so pully and enthralling that you lose your sense of morality. Don’t bullshit me.
Buuuut the plot was intriguing enough for me to still be interested. Until we got to the 60% mark and the confrontation with Olivia. What the actual fuck was that about? We see nothing of her until this point where she then randomly cuts her wrists and tries to commit suicide. Huh? Wtf. She hated Theo all the book to that point. She was characterised as this cold woman in it gor the money and kid. (Who btw we see nothing of other than a couple of mentions. Theo does no fathering of this boy). If Olivia had been mentioned to have mental health issues tha would’ve been more realistic. But it’s also never mentioned again after it happens. It’s a ridiculous plot point that simply makes Theo strive for the divorce he should’ve done earlier. Then the loss storyline happens and she suddenly never gets mentioned again. Were not even told if they actually got divorced and whether his charges were dropped?
Then the pregnancy loss story line. Now, the grief was handled well in the moment. But this plot point started at 90% through the book. Why? It would’ve been better handled earlier. Maybe instead of the Olivia crap to show their actual healing like the blurb suggested it would handle. The book would’ve been so much better had we forgone the marriage trap and gone for the pregnancy and loss storyline then healing tbh. The whole thing was skimmed over as something to bring them together but we rarely saw it happen because it was so rushed.
James. I felt like he could’ve been an amazing asset. He was as a friend. But out of nowhere he comes in as a love interest (sort of?) and unrequited love story would’ve been epic had it been actually brought in properly other than mentioned once or twice. I didn’t even realise he was a doctor till half way through. He was entirely underused in some ways.
Then the technicalities of the book. The dialogue constantly felt unrealistic. They kept saying the other characters name in each dialogue despite their only being two speakers. No one does that. The constant changing of povs in chapters felt choppy especially during the pregnancy loss chapters.
Saying all that. The premise did keep me engaged and I felt like rooting for Theo and Elizabeth. Which is why I gave it the rating I did. Unfortunately I feel like I won’t be reading the rest of the series. But it was a good read. I just wish the book had delivered the broken and then healing premise is promised on the blurb more than it did.
