Four short stories by Evenson. All focused on disquiet settings: a French record store with a room that includes some life-altering music you will never hear except perhaps in a dream 2) a strange disorienting trip to Japan where the narrator eats at a restaurant and eats a purple vegetable 3) the pervasive menace of the children’s television series The Teletubbies 4) A strange trip to SLC complete with doppelgängers, a goldfish, and the Joseph Smith Sphinx at Salt Lake's Gilgal Gardens.

Well-made limited edition (300 — mine is 50) compact book of four stories by a favorite writer, Brian Evenson, who is a master of the short form. The title story even includes one of my favorite places In my former city, Gilgal Sculpture Garden, with its Joseph Smith Sphinx. Gorgeous and ghastly art is placed between stories.
