Nothing is ever enough for Colton Kingsley. He’s been living in a world of privilege all his life, yet he still wants more. A workaholic determined to become one of the world’s biggest players, he also has a mood issue. For that reason, he can’t seem to keep a PA.
So that when he employs Alisha Nolls, no one is more surprised than she is. After a terrible interview mishap involving spilled coffee, a tumble, and a thrift store skirt that didn’t fare so well, she still got the job. Now she’s working for a grumpy boss who doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer, so when he needs a last-minute fake wife to impress a potential wheeler and dealer who only does business with wholesome family men, he asks—one might say demands—that she play the role. After all, he can’t exactly ask those supermodel casual flings; they don’t exactly look like the girl-next-door.
In need of a job and with a huge debt to pay off, Alisha has little choice but to accept.
The thing is, soon this demanding mogul discovers he can’t do without her—in more ways than one. And by that, we don’t just mean someone who knows how to get his coffee just right. Though that’s important…

ARC Review – Working for a Grumpy Billionaire by J.J. Sorel ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you love a broody, emotionally unavailable billionaire who absolutely does not want to fall first… this one delivers. The tension? Immediate. The banter? Sharp and addictive. And the chemistry? Off the charts 🔥 I’m a sucker for the grumpy/sunshine dynamic, and this book leans into it so well. He’s guarded, controlling, and frustratingly irresistible, while she brings just enough warmth and backbone to challenge him at every turn. Watching him slowly unravel? Chef’s kiss. The pacing kept me hooked, and while there are a few predictable moments, the emotional payoff makes it worth it. It’s angsty, steamy, and exactly what you want from a billionaire romance. If you’re into: – Workplace romance – Grumpy billionaire MMC – Slow burn with spice – “He falls harder” vibes …add this to your list ASAP.
Colt is a grumpy, alphahole boss who hires Aleshia for more reasons than her PA skills. The story follows their journey from questionable first meeting in the previous book to an ultimate HEA. In between there is A LOT happening in this book with many side characters. I did find the abrupt scene changes took me out of the story a bit but generally it is a quick, easy read with a bit of banter and angst and a bit of spice to keep the reader engaged. I received a free advanced review copy from the author and am leaving this review voluntarily.
Alisha is a personal assistant to Colt Kingsley. When a partnership comes up he is interested in, he finds he needs a fiancé. Alisha agrees. I love how Alisha is able to deal with Colt and his grumpy demeanor. It was fun seeing their relationship move from pretend to serious when they both knew each other well. Great romance with characters that entertain.
