I liked the change of pace this title gave. We start with a good focus of Cassie and her struggling with her inner demons. Then a discovery and betrayl take place. I really liked Segovia's art in this one.

i actually really liked this issue. the beginning about healing of wounds and how painful they are, importantly so was very insightful. i also loved the twist even though it really sucks emoitional but this feels very earned.

When the cover of the issue literally says “calm before the storm,” you can unfortunately guess pretty quickly that it will be a filler issue. And while this issue had some great moments, it really didn’t do much character progression. A lot of this issue hinges on us jumping into Cass’s mind and dreams and seeing how tormented she is as she struggles between the light and the dark and what path she can choose for herself to live or if she will fall on a predetermined one. She is also tormented by the revelations while fighting the unburied in the last few issues and finding out, surprise surprise, that Nyssa has been lying to her and that Samsara was not found in ruins but taken with blood by the hand of her father as Nyssa stood by his side…even if she claims she technically didn’t take any lives, Cass still can never tell if she is truly lying or not. As such Cass says screw it and proceeds to dip out, fully planning on saying goodbye to her bother (who she also had a fight with this issue and went to a totally strange spot about her perception of family only being about fighting, which seems odd given how much she has grown over the years) and leaving him at Samsara. But as Cass goes to look for Tenji…she can’t find him anywhere. In fact Tenji is currently sneaking around to the underground keypad protected areas of Samsara where he followed some guards and ended up finding the location where they provide medical treatment and store prisoners such as Chodak of the unburied. But it also turns out Tenji is majorly late to the point the unburied grandmaster can monologue about heir secret plan using the tunnels, now unburied (wink), under Samsara to sneak in and get right past all of Nyssa’s defenses. As Tenji is suddenly surrounded by unburied swordsmen, he makes a break for it and goes for the door. I’m not saying that Nyssa isn’t fast enough, but she was JUST talking to Cass in a different part of the compound and is now outside the secret door Tenji came out of. He immediately tries to alert her to the danger incoming and she does not react at all. Based on this reaction, is it not more likely this is Aruna in disguise as Nyssa in order to control angel breaker…who also comes up split moments later behind Tenji to take him out. Also, as it turns out, the one person who had been providing good emotional support and advice to Cass, Jaya, is revealed to have been working with the unburied the entire time. So isn’t that just dandy?

So dull

And boring. Put me to sleep. The art was good. But that's about it. I am officially done with this writer. His stuff is just horrid. Plus, Tengi or Tenji, whatever his name is, Batgirls brother, is just absolute waste of space. Dude is supposed to be a hero. But he is running around scared of his own shadow. Teeth chattering scared of everything. All the woman are the best at everything. The men are all weak in this series. Just reads like Batgirl: A SOAP OPERA " for Empowering woman.

Batgirl coming to grips with the trauma from her past. She is manipulated as a betrayal is about to occur.
