12/10/25 This was an interesting story but weirdly desolate and annoying - like I had been excited to read the author's other works when I started, but after I finished it I'm like "... hm is it even worth it" - especially after I got burned by that shit XY book.
Like ... I am ... what - is it a cross cultural thing I don't find abuse cute?
I wish we got much more from ML. And the author wrote him as too pathetic before FL. And honestly - FL ... is not likable. She didn't deserve ML. I also felt the ... well honestly basically the whole set up is stupid. They're both reborn, yet they don't avoid all these pits? Like why did they help P2 so much? Obviously he was evil and stupid and they were - well HE - was kinda prepared, yet not. Cuz ... why not just set up your little cousin from go? All these people suffered and the capital was fucked up because you put P2 on the throne. And honestly? I think the former CP was a better ruler than P2; CP was mean to FL's family (but the 2nd branch at least wholly deserved it) - P2 on the other hand literally colluded with an enemy country to take down ML.
Song is grr - not enough people were punished and it was just stupid. All it was was suffering for the people. And there were so many hanging threads. Also the constant "oh gpa offended too many people in the jianhu - a) HOW?! b) so we have to be scared of them - WHAT?! c) which is why we need the noble title, the dukedom. But then gpa gives the title back to the throne and runs off to live in the jianghu which ... WHAT?!
Just so much WTFery.
And then SR ... I dunno. Felt ... there were so many contradictions and hanging things and SOME satisfactory shit but most was just ... FRUSTRATING.
And then they're apart so much after they get married.
And I like in a way he didn't take the throne cuz he never wanted it and she gave up on that idea. I guess I just don't trust SR. Or even the little cousin, though it seemed it all worked out.
