i didn’t enjoy this. in my opinion, there was no character development whatsoever and Fiadh and Connor’s chemistry felt plain. and i don’t know why but it sounded ai. but given that this is a teen author, well done.

i really enjoyed this book, it took me 2 days to read!!! probably less if i let myself🤣 it genuinely really gripped me from the outset. i loved the storyline and literally all the characters. they were all extremely likeable. this easily would’ve been a 5 star rating if i wasn’t so confused through some of it, however it was an amazing read and can’t wait for more!!!

woah Eva this is seriously impressive. The fact that you wrote this book when you were 13 is absolutely mad. While I was reading this, I was making a few mental notes on what I was going to say when I was reviewing the book and I’m going to be honest here because I can totally see you becoming a famous author and you have so much potential so I want to give a few critiques so that you can improve as that is what I would like if this was my work. I found that the first half of this book was quite slow and repetitive, but I understand that this was just the building of the characters in the world at this time, but I felt like a lot of it was repetitiveness towards quotes and there were a few typos throughout the book, the constant reference to certain smells did get a bit worn out but other than that I found this story amazing overall AND REALISTIC!! as a fellow Irish teen i can definitely see how realistic the story is and that the characters felt like real people so it was very well done. I can’t wait to read future work and I will definitely be picking up the second book as soon as I can. Eva you are going places!!

While completing a debut novel as a teenager is an undeniable milestone, Even If It Rains suffers from significant execution flaws that alienate its target audience.
The most jarring element of the novel is its uneven prose style. The text exhibits clear signs of automated or heavily modified writing; paragraphs are characterized by an unnatural lexical density paired with uniform sentence lengths. This syntactic monotony clashes aggressively with the expected authentic cadence of a teenage protagonist.
Compounding this stylistic disconnect is a pervasive lack of basic copyediting, with frequent grammatical errors constantly breaking narrative immersion.
Structurally, the character development for the leads, Fiadh and Conor, remains entirely static. Their interactions lack emotional subtext, leaving their central chemistry flat and their respective character arcs largely unresolved. O'Brien shows distinct dedication in finishing a full-length manuscript, but the text ultimately requires a rigorous, ground-up editorial overhaul to achieve a cohesive human voice

After a while, I gave a crooked smile, not looking at him.
"Even if it rains?"
He glanced at me, puzzled for a second, then smiled, slow and warm, like the first bit of sun after a storm.
"Even if it rains."

this was a very easy read! i did a year abroad after high school in ireland so this feels close to home. i loved the irish slang in it and knowing that I’ve been to a lot of places from the book before. i can’t wait for sean and beth’s book. i also loved the gracie abrams songs in it. my favorite scene was the one where she danced in the kitchen to tears. it felt a bit rushed and there wasn’t really much character development. but i think eva will grow as an author over the years!

it is absolutely surreal that this was written by a fourteen year old — the kindle layout is a bit messed up, but other than that this is a perfect mix between a cute romance and a heartwarming story!
