Return to the world of Hyde Park, with all of its steam, humor, and devotion.
This collection of stories follows our den of vampires and their mates with bonus epilogues, group stories, and thirteen formerly Patreon-exclusive mini-fics of each couple. Get a deeper look at our fanged friends' happy-ever-afters, and the found family they forged against all odds.
Go ahead and take a bite. You won't be disappointed.
Grae Bryan has been reading romance since she was far too young to know any better. Her love for love stories spans all genres, and while her current series is of the paranormal variety, she knows she’ll be exploring other worlds further down the line.
She lives in Arizona with her husband, who graciously shares space with all the imaginary men in her head. When not writing, she can generally be found reading more than is healthy, walking her monster-dog, or cuddling her demon-cat. She loves anything and everything gothic, strange, lovely, or cozy.
This collection consists of group fics, mostly set around the holidays, with the den celebrating together; short vignettes about each couple (or throuple, as the case may be); and bonus epilogues.
Welcome to Hyde Park isn't really a book you read end to end; it's a bunch of short stories you can read in any order, which is what I did.
Overall thoughts: The stories are borderline porn w/o plot. At least half of each story is smut, which is fine when the story is a standalone, but when read one after the other, the sex got repetitive fast. Experience will differ, of course, but that was my impression.
The charm wore thin for some of the characters, namely Soren, who didn't shine as bright as he did in the first two books of the series; Alexei and Gabe, who served as mere accessories; Colin & the twins, who felt kinda generic (Colin's griping got old); and cutie Jay who's still adorbs but whose antics were pushed a bit too far.
The main reason I bought this collection was to read about Cass turning Blake, but nope, there were a couple shorts about this couple but no epilogue and no turning. 😟😖😠
This is 100% smut combined with family interactions, plus funny banter and cuteness from all the vampire couples. So yeah, expect A LOT of spice, but there are also really cute and funny moments. And when the whole den is together, those short stories specifically are what make reading this collection worth it. I love this found family of vampires.
------- Quotes worth mentioning:
“He didn’t want anyone in their circle to end up lost like Roman, or hurting like Lucien, or trapped like Jay and Soren had been. They would all be safe, and they would all be happy, damn it. Even the ones with…looser morals than Danny might have liked.”
“Sometimes I think we’re not very good vampires,”he murmured. Like, shouldn’t they be having blood raves or creepy sex dungeon parties or something else appropriately gothic? Not cavorting in nature and applauding each other’s milestones?”
I enjoyed revisiting all of the Hyde Park couples. There were some cute stories and only one that I actively disliked. Some of the characters seemed to have slight personality shifts, but their core traits stayed strong. Jamie seemed the most changed, and Jay was less cute in some of the stories. Alexei continued to be supporting cast. Colin and the twins could have used a bit more depth. Wolfgang and Eric were actually kinda fun to revisit in the context of the den. Roman and Lucien's interactions were a lot of fun, and Danny is still adorable. Soren faded a little, which made me sad. Gabe was pretty forgettable most of the time.
It was a little too much sex. I think because these short stories were originally released at different points, and there was an expectation for readers that the characters would be getting down and dirty. But story after story of sex sometimes made me feel like I wasn't getting enough content. I enjoy the banter and relationships more than the sex ... is that weird?
Buddy read with Amanda because we are obssessed with this series and can’t stop.
A week ago I haven’t read any books in The Vampire’s Mate series, now i’m so obsessed it has consumed my every thought. So much i can barely do anything else.
Even since 2020, if you asked me my favourite book series, I have always said the same answer. Since I have finished The Vampire’s Mate series, i’m closer and closer to i’m being inclined to change my answer to include this series. There is just something about this series that appealed to all of my favourite things to read about and I loved every seconds I spent in this world.
This was short stories about every couple in the series, so it was perfect in every way and I loved catching up with everyone. I will never say no to spending more time in this world.
Genuinely, with all my heart LOVED revisiting this universe and all the characters in from Hyde Park!! I really loved reading all the characters in like a settled phase, post all the stuff that happened in their main stories. I loved seeing all of them come together for camping, holidays, etc., it was all just so sweet. I really appreciate being able to see how dynamics have grown since the main books. I also liked that some of stories were set between books! I would say all these shorts are heavy with spice and are for the big fans of this universe. It’s all just so fun and we get even more of the characters in different settings and situations.
I’m absolutely fucking obsessed and wouldn’t mind something like this for the the demon mates 😈
1. “Vampire’s Mate Xmas Short” (POV: Jamie) - meh. Set after ”Lucien”, before “Johann”. Features Jamie, Lucien, Soren, Danny, Gabe, Jay/Johann, and Roman.
2. “Vampire’s Mate Camping Short” (POVs: Soren, Jay, Eric) - okay. Set after “Wolfgang”. The story felt a bit too much like fan service, which it admittedly was. Wolfe, with all his panache and not giving a flying fuck about anyone else’s opinion, was the best thing about it, of course. Features Soren, Gabe, Jay/Johann, Alexei, Danny, Roman, Jamie, Lucien, Eric, and Wolfe.
3. “Vampire’s Mate Valentine Short” (POV: Soren) - meh. Set after ”Wolfgang”, before “Colin”. Basically, nothing happens, as with most of these stories, but there’s barely any banter either. Soren being in Colin’s business made him as annoying as I always find Jay with his “frankness” and “curiosity”. Features Soren, Alexei, Jay/Johann, Colin, and Gabe. References Gabe and Eric’s routine of going on the run in the woods.
4. “Vampire’s Mate NOT Camping Short” (POVs: Soren, Jamie, Eric, Jay) - meh. Set after “Colin”. Again, nothing happens, and the funniest bits were mostly in Eric’s POV involving some banter between Fox and Jay, and Eric’s “digging a hole in the sand, just because” idea, which generated an unexpected camaraderie between Colin and him. Features Soren, Jay/Johann, Gabe, Jamie, Lucien, Colin, Fox, Dane, Alexei, Eric, Wolfe, Danny, Roman. References Seth’s cousin Benny’s abduction by the fae Helio (from “An Unwitting Bargain”).
5. “A Taste of Tucson” (POVs: Danny, Roman) - very meh. Set after ”Lucien”, before “Johann”. Features Danny, Roman, Jay/Johann. References Lucien, Jamie, Fox, Dane, Gabe, Soren.
6. “Mr. Handsome” (POVs: Soren, Gabe) - okay, although the first half of the story dragged on for too long. Set after “Colin Bonus Epilogue”, featuring the official opening of Jay’s animal shelter where Colin is planning to work the summers. Features Soren, Gabe, Jay/Johann, Alexei, Danny, Jamie, Lucien, Colin, Fox, Dane, Eric, Wolfe, Roman.
7. “Trick or…Trick” (POVs: Lucien, Jamie) - meh. Set after “Colin”. I’m not a fan of BDSM-style costumes in public (at least the ones involving muzzles/collars/chains), so that part was very icky. Features Lucien, Jamie, Colin, Fox, Dane.
8. “Important Research” (POVs: Alexei, Jay) - yuck. Set after “Johann Bonus Epilogue”. The setup of the story was actually funny - I was expecting Jay to be drooling over some Regency bodice-ripper and wanting to role-play the thing (which seems to have been covered in “Johann Bonus Epilogue”, instead). But of course, with Jay’s character, it had to be taken into some yucky territory. The whole omegaverse thing doesn’t appeal to me - especially the pregnancy-related aspects. And I really don’t get people’s fascination with any of it. But whatever rocks your boat, I guess.
9. “Familiar Strangers” (POVs: Jay, Alexei) - meh. Set after “Mr. Handsome”. Features Jay/Johann, Cassian, Blake, Alexei.
10. “Thanksgiving Prep” (POVs: Eric, Wolfe) - okay. Set after “Mr. Handsome”. No plot, but the exploration of Eric and Wolfe’s insecurities and codependency issues has some depth. Also, Wolfe lowkey taking care of everything, and then telling Eric, to alleviate his anxiety, about all the measures he put in place, had a calming effect on me as a reader. Wolfe simultaneously not giving a fuck about any of it or anyone involved is hilarious. Features Eric and Wolfe only. References “the Tucson faction”, Colin and “his twins”, and Rex, the dog Eric and Wolfe are fostering.
11. “Tending to Eric” (POVs: Wolfe, Eric) - okay, if somewhat yucky. Set a year after ”Wolfgang”. The whole existential angst about abandoning a perfectly functional job/career and taking time off and being afraid of never being able to get back into work rings a bell or two. References Gabe and Eric’s routine of going on the run in the woods.
12. “Treat or... Treat” (POVs: Wolfe, Eric) - okay. Set after “Thanksgiving Prep”. Features Eric and Wolfe only, along with their new foster dog (aka “degenerate canine” according to Wolfe) Roofus.
13. “No More Clubs” (POV: Colin) - okay. Set after “Colin Bonus Epilogue”. Features Colin, Soren, Fox, Dane, Gabe.
14. “Jay Gets a Peek” (POVs: Fox, Colin) - okay-ish. Set after “Trick or… Trick”, before “Wreaking Havoc”. Apart from the ickiness of the whole thing, the banter around the “bonding experience” (as Jay sees it) was quite hilarious. Still don’t like Jay. Features Fox, Colin, Dane, Jay/Johann, Alexei. References a “trip to Maine” that Jay has planned, which is presumably when Alexei and Jay go to visit Sascha after he accidentally summons the demon Kaisyir.
15. “A Forced Vacation” (POVs: Colin, Dane) - okay-ish. Set after “Colin”, before “Vampire’s Mate NOT Camping Short”. Features Colin, Fox, Dane.
16. “Absolutely Not” (POV: Colin) - okay. Set after “Colin”. Features Colin, Jamie, Fox, Jay/Johann.
17. “Sorry, Chad” (POVs: Cassian, Blake) - okay. Set a week after “Cassian”. I didn’t expect to like a character called “Chad”, but the guy was actually funny, despite a very brief appearance.
18. “Roman Bonus Epilogue” (POV: Roman) - okay. Set after “Roman”, before “Soren”. Describes the adoption of the dog Ferdy. Features Roman, Danny, Soren.
19. “Soren Bonus Epilogue” (POV: Soren) - meh. Set after “Soren”, before “Lucien”. Features Soren, Lucien, Gabe.
20. “Lucien Bonus Epilogue” (POV: Jamie) - meh. Set after “Lucien”, before “Vampire’s Mate Xmas Short”. Features Jamie, Lucien.
21. “Johann Bonus Epilogue” (POV: Jay) - okay. Set after “Mr. Handsome”. Features Jay/Johann, Alexei.
22. “Wolfgang Bonus Epilogue” (POV: Eric) - okay; covers a loose thread from the main book about Eric learning how to hunt.
23. “Colin Bonus Epilogue” (POV: Colin) - meh.

This little collection is probably for die hard fans of the series. It's a series of short vignettes about each couple (trio) and includes the free additional scenes which were available. They were fun to read, heavy on the spice but fun to visit them and see a lot more scenes of them all intereacting together, where they bring the Tucson folks into the den and go camping and glamping. Johann hates glamping, he loves being grubby. I still love him best.
Unfortunately, this is my least favorite (and I'm heart broken about it!). Some of the stories were great (Soren and Gabe at the shelter was amazing) and some of the dynamics still jumped off the page WOLFE AND ERIC FOREVER; but my favorites were either too left out (Colin, Fox, and Dane) or had lost all their original personality (Jay and Alexei). I totally think this is because these were not written to be written back to back, and I think if you read them more spread out throughout the series it would be much better.
This is merely my opinion, so let's keep it courteous. My review is honest and voluntary.
This is supposed to be a collection of standalone stories, but really, if you haven't read the books where the MCs come from, you have NO idea what is going on. Bit assholly from authors to expect you to read 300 books to understand one. After reading this one, the characters are SO immature, I know I will not enjoy the actual series that the characters come from.
Loved this so much! I love this series and getting to jump back in at different times was amazing. Especially a new story with Cass and Blake, because I loved their novella but always wondered what happened after.
It felt so good to go back into the Vampire's Mate universe- like seeing old friends again. I even got emotional because I'm such a nostalgic sap- but it was the good kind of emotions.
This collection of missing scenes, short stories, and epilogues is largely an excuse for the vampires to have filthy sex in a variety of hot, tender, sweet, dirty contexts. It is exactly what one would expect from a companion book to the series.
I appreciate when authors do these for those who can't afford patreon subscriptions. Epilogues and bonus stories are always great fun and having them all in one place is so lovely.
I have all of the bonus epilogues and I’ve read all of the shorts and fics from her Patreon. Did that stop me from buying this? No. I enjoyed them as if I had never read them before.
