FYI, I don't know who wrote this description, but this is a *series*. These books are NOT "stand-alones". The first book (The Never List) was left off on a cliff-hanger.

“Nothing matters if she doesn’t wake up. Do you think for one second that I wouldn’t burn this entire damned royal city to the ground if I thought it would bring her back?”

compared to how much i enjoyed the first book, this one was lackluster and kinda disappointing. it had a strong case of middle book syndrome, nothing even happens for the majority of it. i still like the characters, but even the romances weren’t doing much for me this time around. the last 20% picked up & it ended on an interesting cliffhanger that leaves room for a lot of new scenarios for the characters though, so my only hope is that the next book will be as fun as The Never List !!

I wanted to desperately love this so much but unfortunately didn’t hit the mark for me.

We immediately start off where we left off in book 1 (also huge shout out for the mini catch up in the beginning). Rylee and the princes now have another test to complete from the kings to decide whether they are fit to be on the throne, of course this comes as a shock for them all.

Huge stakes in this book with a lot more attention to the plot which I loved, new characters developing and learning the connections between each one. Love the rebellion element however I felt it was grazed over, I would personally would have loved to dive deeper into that. Nevertheless, it was super interesting finding out the cause of the rebellion and the tactics behind the magical powers.

The first 60% I was addicted and couldn’t put it down, it was spicy and full of action which I loved! Unfortunately where it didn’t hit the mark for me was the 20% after that, I felt as I was reading it was a little repetitive and not progressing forward within the plot. But the ending? God, I loved that so much - really brought it all together!

Thank you so much to the Author and Arcadia Books for the early review copy.

I really enjoyed book 1, but book 2 didn't work as well for me - it was a lot of set up for the very obvious cliffhanger into book 3, and the repetitive training sessions dragged down the plot momentum despite the very high stakes set from the start. The number of times I yelled at the fmc to "use your brain, that's that lump 3 feet above your ass" was extremely high. Seriously, every "surprise" and twist was so unbearably obvious it made all of the characters look like idiots for not putting anything together. Leaving this at 3 stars for the first time through, maybe I'll be more generous in future rereads.

If I had the power to personify rolling my eyes as a book series, this would be at the top of the list.

If I took a shot every time this book mentioned “my mate,” “feeling through the bond,” or someone talking through the bond, I wouldn’t be drunk, I’d be dead.
The story picks up immediately after the ending of The Never List. Rylee survives the Athanry and becomes immortal after Kal, Axl, Pierce, and Jax sacrifice their powers to save her. Unfortunately, the four kings are still in power and have no intention of giving up their thrones.

This is a why-choose romance, but honestly, it feels like Rylee likes Jax far more than the others. The emotional connection with him stands out so much that the rest of the relationships feel uneven.

And the spice? So disappointing. You give me four gods and somehow manage to make the sex scenes feel completely vanilla. I don’t need a full therapy session about everyone’s feelings every time they get intimate. You have four immortal, powerful men and somehow the romance still lacks excitement.

The entire book feels like a transition novel. Very little is actually explained, it leaves readers with a cliffhanger for book three, and we’re still left guessing who the real villain is. Instead of answers, we get more questions.

The biggest problem is that there isn’t a single character I genuinely like. I don’t feel invested in anyone’s story, which made it hard to care about the constant drama and revelations.

The ending was interesting enough to catch my attention, but not enough to convince me to continue the series. At this point, I’m pretty sure I won’t be reading book three.
Interesting ending, but not enough substance, too much bond-talk, and not nearly enough payoff

We barely got the legends pov in this one. Probably 5 chapters altogether and the rest we’re in Rylee’s pov who spends the whole book pushing against anyone telling her she’s going to be the future queen. As if this book wasn’t about Her having to do a series of “tests” to prove herself as the future queen. The “tests” felt pointless and the time spent inbetween each one consisted of monthly time skips from chapter to chapter which grew old fast. Everyone around her is talking in riddles and telling her to “wake up” and accept her future and the powers that come with it. Overall, a disappointing sequel that tried to really milk the “high stakes” in the next book.

Second books in a series can be tricky—but this one proves they don’t have to be.

I always get a little nervous about sophomore installments because they’re often the hardest to land. Thankfully, Jade Pressley absolutely delivered here. My only real complaint? Having to wait for book three—especially after that massive cliffhanger… and the fact that it involves my favorite character.

I love a good why choose romance, and this one fully commits to the trope. Rylee is balancing four very different men, and she handles the chaos with gusto and panache. Of course, even in a “why choose,” we all end up with favorites. I won’t reveal mine because it would definitely be a spoiler, but let’s just say I’d happily sacrifice the other three for him.

One of the things I enjoyed most is Rylee’s strength. She endures so much throughout the story, yet keeps pushing forward with love at the center of what motivates her. I also appreciated that while this is technically fantasy, it leans more toward fantasy-light, which keeps the pacing moving and allows the characters and relationships to really shine.

And yes—the spice is SPICY. But what I appreciated most is that the story never loses sight of the plot. The romance and heat enhance the narrative rather than replacing it, which made the whole reading experience feel balanced and engaging.

You’ll definitely want to read book one before diving into this installment to get the full impact. That said, there is some light repetition included to help refresh readers on earlier events, so you wouldn’t feel completely lost if you jumped in here. My only small critique is that a few moments felt slightly repetitive and could have benefited from a bit tighter editing, but nothing that significantly detracted from the overall experience.

Overall, I definitely recommend this one—and now comes the hardest part: waiting for book three after that ending.

If you love why-choose romance, spicy fantasy-light worlds, and characters you can’t help but root for, this series is absolutely worth the ride.

I am thankful to have received a complimentary eARC from Entangled Publishing which gave me the opportunity to share my voluntary thoughts.

I enjoyed the first more, because I liked the storyline more, but still liked this book! The second book is always the bridge/sets up the third book, so I went in expecting that. It was confusing at times, but overall kept me interested. I was annoyed at how long it took Rylee to figure out all the sister stuff because it felt obvious. Also, the ending 😭😭😭 not my fav prince!! Obviously loved the spice 😅🤷🏻‍♀️ can’t wait for the next!

I both liked this better and not as much as the first one, even though that doesn’t make any sense. It did feel a little slower in the middle there I honestly feel like this could have been a duo-logy if written properly. I don’t think I felt as excited and connected in this one with the relationships already established, because the plot is very minimal in this series so without the excitement of seeing the relationships I wasn’t as connected as I would have liked.

But parts were better, it didn’t skip as many important moments are book one did so that was definitely an improvement. I still really enjoyed this and I do love the characters. I’m excited to see where this goes next because these cliffhangers!!

Thank you so much The Nerd Fam and Red Tower Books for the ARC!

Book two in a romantasy series is always a tricky thing. You're past the honeymoon phase of world-building and character introductions, but not yet at the payoff. The King's List sits squarely in that in-between space, and while it has real highlights, it also shows the strain of being a bridge book.

The story picks up immediately after The Never List, which I appreciated, and the brief recap at the beginning was a thoughtful touch. Rylee and the Legends of Chaos have barely caught their breath before the Kings drop another bombshell: the trials aren't over. Enter The King's List, a new set of tasks designed to determine whether the Legends are ready to actually rule Lumathyst. The stakes are high from the jump, and the premise delivers some of what I loved about book one.

What worked best for me was getting more intimate time with the characters as they navigate these challenges together. The magic system continues to be a strength, and losing their powers was a clever narrative move that let us see the bonds between Rylee and her mates from a different angle. The Erin storyline picked up in interesting ways too, and the faders and enhancement drugs added some welcome tension.

The problem is the execution. The training sequences are repetitive and drag the momentum down significantly. Tasks that should have felt monumental near the end were rushed past without the weight they deserved. And the big villain reveal lands out of nowhere, with zero foreshadowing, making it feel less like a planted seed and more like a last-minute decision. The cliffhanger hinges entirely on that reveal, which makes it thrilling once you get past the whiplash, but still.

Also, if I took a drink every time someone referenced "my mate" or communicated through the bond, I would not survive this book. It got a bit cringe...

DNF. I made it halfway through the absolutely horrible audiobook and just couldn’t finish it. I wasn’t expecting high literature. I listened to the first one; I knew what to expect going in but I felt like my brain was rotting while I listened to it.

First of all - the narrators = horrible, especially the male narrator. You’re telling me we have four of the biggest, manliest, most dangerous princes and that’s the narrator you chose. Did they even try to get the narrator who did The Kingdom of the Wicked series or Quicksilver? It’s also pretty horrible when both the female and male narrator imitate voices for other characters, specifically Baydel. He was given such an awful vocal fry that it was really hard to listen when he was in a scene.

Now let’s get into the men themselves. It’s obvious Jax is the favored prince for Rylee. They might do it for her in the bedroom, but the other three? I don’t get the attraction. Axl is literally a surfer dude and the other two are just so bland; they’re like a trio of frat brothers. Just ditch those three and pick Jax. Also, I love a supportive man in a romance but these guys are just over the top sappy. The amount of time they spend telling Riley that “she’s got this” and she’s great and she’s fantastic and amazing and so on. Gross.

Other little things -
1. the language is just so ultramodern it really took me out of the story. I’m fine with the world not feeling like it was set in European setting but it’s still obviously a Hunger Games type world where you have a ruling class that is keeping down a lower class (kings, princes, districts,etc.). I don’t want the F word dropped left and right or the term “edging” casually used.

2. If I took a shot every times the word “mate” was used, I wouldn’t just be drunk; I would be dead.

3. The spice was disappointing. I get it that she has four guys but that was the most vanilla sex. Not every time; there were a couple that were fine but the bulk. It was still ruined, though, because Rylee kept describing her feelings as opposed to what was actually happening. If I’m reading a spicy scene, I want the spicy scene not how you’re feeling about it. Also, the sexy talk during those scenes was not doing it. It’s like, “Rylee, you’re so hot.”

4. Finally, I don’t know what people are talking about that the plot was more developed. I made it halfway through that book and there was such minimal plot and it was repetitive; from the first book but also throughout this book.

5 ⭐️ thank you entangled and netgalley for the free arc. All thoughts are my own.

JADE WITH THE CLIFFHANGERS EVERY TIME BRO WTF!!!! But like in a good way bc this book absolutely took me out. Rylee is one of my all time favorite FMC’s and she did not disappoint with her resilient and badass demeanor. And all 4 of these handsome, sweet, sexy, amazing princes really have their work cut out for them with her… though they seem to handle her well (iykyk)

Getting to see these 5 come together and used teamwork to get through the rough of it made for some of the best scenes. And the spice?! GIRL!!! Jade knows how to write a crazy spice scene and I think I was panting through some of them 🤭

I truly loved this book and will be very (IM)patiently waiting for book 3 to come out to see how this all ends and how they conquer this impending doom that keeps hovering over them.

Plot: 5/5 • Spice: 3/5 ➡️➡️➡️ be still my beating heart. So much happens in book two. I thought book one was top tier, but this did not miss.

Four princes, Axel, Pierce, Jax and Kal. I still love all of them and each thing they bring to the table. Jax, top spot in my heart. We all love a brooding bad boy.

Their love for Rylee still knows no bounds. The list the kings send them on is bullshit. Once again trying to prove their worth. Three out of the four accomplish their task with time. All the while Rylee is figuring out how to rid Tox. Erin makes her debut appearance in Fader form. Rylee really starts to get the hang of sharing and using the guys powers.

The cliffy. JAX?! my darling prince. Gut me. If Rylee went awol to rescue him without the guys i’ll lose it. She wouldn’t be that dumb… but it doesn’t officially say.

Holy fuck. I need book three. 😳😳😳😳😳

3.5 rounded up.

I enjoyed the continuation from book one, and it delivered what I expected.

It's certainly a different take on 'training montages', but what better way to distract the brain and have big emotions than by reaching the Big O (multiple times).

There are so many times Rylee is told 'wake up', and I was getting annoyed at how much she didn't click that there were things that others were unable to say.

There is another cliffhanger where I still want to know how it all ends!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (4.5 stars)

I was desperate to get my hands on The King’s List after absolutely devouring The Never List, and overall this was a fantastic sequel that has me even more excited for what’s to come.

One thing Jade Presley does really well is consistency. The characters felt exactly as they did in book one, and the story picked up seamlessly from where we left off. Rylee continues to be a fantastic FMC, and I loved watching her story unfold.

I won’t lie though—the first 50% felt quite slow for me. I found myself putting it down frequently and lacking that urgent need to pick it back up. But once the story found its stride, I was completely hooked. The final 20% had me reading so fast I was skipping sentences in my excitement, and the ending was absolutely brilliant. The direction the plot has taken opens up so many possibilities for book three, and I genuinely can’t wait to see where it goes.

My biggest criticism remains that Pierce, Kal and Axl still feel a little underdeveloped. Jax continues to be the standout for me—every scene with him leaves me wanting more—but unfortunately we don’t get nearly enough of him here. Meanwhile, Kal and Axl still blur together at times, and after two books I find myself wanting more depth, stronger individual voices, and opinions beyond endlessly hyping up Rylee.

**Spoilers**

The dream-walking with Evaluna, the mind intrusion at the end involving Baydel, and the speech-tie mystery surrounding Erin and Evaluna were easily my favourite plot points. Every one of them had my curiosity through the roof and sent me spiralling into theories, which is one of my favourite feelings as a reader.

**End Spoilers**

Overall, this is a great follow-up to The Never List. While it took a little while to get going, the payoff was worth it, and that ending has set the stage for what could be an incredible third book!

Ok, I didn’t love this as much as book 1 and I’m not sure why. It might be where I am as a reader right now and have nothing to do with the story or the writing.

We start off right where we left off, with Rylee in a coma, the guys panicking and the kings being hella sketchy. And then we move onto pages and pages of magic training as Rylee learns to control all the power. But for someone who is so powerful, she doesn’t seem to do much? She has mind reading powers, ffs, and could solve the mystery of the Faders - or at least get some leads - so easily.

Blaydel continues to suck the most. He’s so overtly evil, it’s almost comical. Jax is AWOL most of the story, which is a shame because that means we get more Pierce time and he’s the most boring of the bunch for me.

The spice be spicing all the way through.

What this book does deliver on is the ending, so I’ll likely be continuing with the series.

Thanks so much to Entangled for the gifted copy. All opinions are honestly given.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for approving me to read this book, I’m rating it 4.0 stars.

I have been desperate to get back in this world & I swear to god I manifested this ARC!

We pick up in the thick of it after book 1 with the dire consequences of the ritual, things look bleak to say the least. Things obviously take a turn or it would be a short read. During this book we get lots more spice which was chefs kiss if i do say so myself, but my fav part of this was exploring the faders, what the kings list is and the mysterious sister causing havoc. As we expand on the plot we get more secrets and revelations plus lots more scheming and misaligned intentions from various angles. I found it hard to put this down.

I’m looking forward to book 3 after that ending, I can’t believe we left it there.

When I originally started this series I was swept away by the endearing relationships the princes and our FMC developed… and that Never List cliffhanger was brutal! And then in the King’s List This relationship group has to prove themselves worthy of the kingdom all while solving problems the current kings have no solutions for… it doesn’t seem fair and it never is… but the way that Rylee comes into her power, the agency that she begins to take ownership of is beautiful to see. And I found myself cheering for HER and not for the powerful princes to get it done. Because she is the one with all the answers and the powers she never quite knew she was capable of. And yes ANOTHER cliffhanger! Come on JADE…. Don’t you care about us at all!!!

Jade Presley - Noooooo 🤯 Please don’t leave me hanging like that!!

🥰 My Review 🥰

I have been waiting for the release of The Kings’ List and just let me tell you that Jade Presley didn’t disappoint in book two. We gathered so much information from this book and also found out some things that I wasn’t expecting.

Riley keeps growing her confidence to control her mates powers and I love how much they all support her. When they had to go broker all of the deals I knew something was up Badel’s sleeve but I didn’t think he would stoop to that level.

I am excited to see what kind of blow that Riley delivers to protect her mates! Especially with Jax ❤️

This was a dual narration and was narrated by Jake Bordeaux and Michelle Price.

So excited to back in this world with my four princes.
Each of them continue to be so unique and loving to Rylee and I’m here for it.
Although the story did seem to start off a little slower, it definitely picked up and I was NOT expecting it to go where it did. More secrets, and truths need to be revealed and excuse me…my nightmare does not deserve that, he’s good. 😭
And I really want to see more of Rylee getting used to her powers, and also share a bit more..our guys deserve it.

This author is trying to kill me!! Another crazy cliffhanger?!?! AHHHH!! 🤯 This book had me hooked! You will be held in suspense throughout the whole thing. I stared at the last page in shock for a long time trying to gather my thoughts about everything that was revealed in the last 20% of the book.

Just when they all think it is over and they can go live HEA, the Kings inform them of another list. The King’s List. Each in their own way, the princes show their love and support of Rylee while she learns to control these new powers. We get to see the characters more intimately while they navigate through this list and handle their ongoing dilemmas. This book went in a direction that you will not see coming. I was slack jawed with all the twists and reveals. We get to see more of Erin and learn what she got herself into. The faders get more dangerous and the enhancement drugs become deadlier. Also, King Baydel is a demented a$$hole!!🤬. Ugh, I hate him sooooo much!! Our Prince of Nightmares!!! 😩
