When single mum Karen and her baby visit their elderly neighbour Doris, Karen soon realises that things are not at all what they seem. Doris has plans for Karen and the baby and enlists a group of elderly cohorts to see her plan through.

Based on the acclaimed short film of the same name, comes a deeper, darker, and far more unsettling journey. This chilling novel expands the nightmare into a full-length descent, a chilling exploration of neighbourly affection twisted into obedience, the thin line between companionship and control, and the horrors that thrive behind the most ordinary front doors. This unsettling tale peels back the wallpaper on small-town gentility to expose the rot friendship curdled into fanaticism, kindness sharpened into cruelty, and the horrifying certainty that evil doesn’t always knock, sometimes it bakes you a cake first!

H. H. Blackwood is a UK horror writer whose work blends psychological dread with cinematic tension. Known for award-winning short-form storytelling and a fascination with the darker corners of ordinary life, Blackwood crafts horror that is as unsettling as it is intimate.

Doris marks his debut full-length novel, a chilling tale of neighbourly charm, generational secrets, and the monstrous things that hide in plain sight.

This is a definite DNF !

After reading 37% of this on my kindle I came to the conclusion, that this might be the worst literary fiction that came my way this year.

I can only assume, that this book is a cruel and tasteless joke - and the result of a deeply disturbed soul thinking they are an author.

This is not even a "Horror" Novel - there are no chills, no spooky stuff - just the constant urge to trying to understand, what is going on and to throw up.

This is a definite NO !

Unless you are a true Psychopath and reside in a Mental Institution for the Criminally Insane - don't read it.

I would NOT RECOMMEND....EVER !!!!
PURE GARBAGE !!!!!
