this is the 2nd book I read for her and I am loving her style, stories, quotes, and understanding of human emotions, flaws, and regrets.
Love isn't about convincing someone to choose you. It's about becoming someone worth choosing.
what if life gave you a second chance to correct past regrets? what if this time round, you can take control and live happily ever after?
Life rarely allows us to correct our mistakes. We make choices, we live with the consequences, and we move forward as best we can.
Kyle and Lily had that chance with a freak accident. As someone who has become addicted to those corny, inconsistent Chinese short dramas, I found the "back to past" timeline in this book very refreshing
there were still some inconsistencies here and there, and stuff that would anger you, but I feel that the overall story is worth it and very beautiful
I loved that the story did not just focus on Kyle and Lily's relationship, but we see their interactions with other characters that are truely fundamental to the plot.
Oh and I want a Kyle in my life
everyone deserves a Kyle 😍😍😍😍

It’s not the first time I read this author, I already think she writes well, but this book went beyond what I expected. I really liked the plot, especially because I hadn’t read anything involving time travel before. I loved the characters and their dynamic.
I really liked the ending honestly, it’s something I would do. Jeremy… I love him, I want to be his best friend too. One of the things I found so adorable was seeing both characters as older siblings and how they took care of their younger siblings, each from different circumstances but still doing it.

Es romance y segundas oportunidades.
Es aceptación, reflexión, amistad y familia.
Tiene un plot twist del bueno y un suspenso que roza el thriller, de esos que te mantienen en constante intriga.
Es muy fácil conectar con Lily: sus monólogos internos, sus inquietudes, aspiraciones y el porqué de cada decisión. Su necesidad de tener control sobre su vida se siente real y cercana. Y Kyle… Kyle es un amor de persona. Es imposible no enamorarse de él desde el primer momento. (Kyle, si fueras mi ex, volvería contigo sin pensarlo).
La historia profundiza en lo mucho que nos atormentan los arrepentimientos: el sentir que no fuimos suficientes, que pudimos haber dado más en ciertos momentos. Nos recuerda la importancia de vivir conscientes de nuestras decisiones, de valorar las pequeñas cosas y no dar nada por sentado.
Porque sí, todos cargamos con arrepentimientos… pero este libro nos enseña que también debemos aprender a vivir con ellos.

Me fui 100% a ciegas con este libro y jamás pensé que me iba a topar con todo lo que pasó (de principio a fin). Me estuve leyendo este romance sin saber que iba a terminar siendo un thriller, ¡o seaaa! El libro yo lo encuentro como un 65% romance y el otro 35% murder mystery.
Hablemos del romance: me encantó Kyle (MMC), literalmente la definición de un hombre bueno para ti. Me encantó cómo él hacía TODO por su amorcito Lily (MFC). Pienso que el desarrollo de la relación estuvo cutesy y bien trabajado.
Aunque Lily vivía llena de rabia, a mí me encantó mucho al empezar con su personalidad bien de rutina y planificadora 💯. Luego no fui MEGA fan de ella porque a veces sentía que se salía un poco de personaje, pero entiendo también que se debía a las circunstancias y a todos los issues que estaban pasando.
Los plot twists no me los vi venir de esa manera y no puedo abundar más porque no quiero dar spoilers 🙈 jajajajajaj.

Regrets es una novela muy bien lograda que usa un fuerte dispositivo de trama para explorar temas profundos como la culpa, el perdón y, sobre todo, la comunicación.
La estructura está organizada de manera excelente: se plantea el conflicto en el presente, se introduce la oportunidad de corregirlo en el pasado, y se alcanza la resolución gracias a la evolución de los personajes. Me encantó cómo evitas que el viaje en el tiempo sea una solución mágica, forzando a Lily a enfrentar nuevas realidades y a Kyle a ganarse la confianza de una persona que ya tiene el corazón roto.
Los personajes secundarios, como Jeremy y Leo, están bien integrados, y el giro de trama final sobre la verdad del accidente es orgánico y emocionalmente satisfactorio. La historia te hace sentir la urgencia de hablar, de no dejar las cosas sin decir, y de perdonar, no solo a otros, sino a uno mismo.

Que me gusto
Lo primero que dejaría igual es la atmósfera. Esa sensación melancólica, casi silenciosa, que envuelve toda la historia es preciosa. Hay algo muy humano en cómo se retrata el arrepentimiento y la nostalgia; se siente real, sin dramatismo innecesario. También me encantó la química entre los protagonistas, sobre todo en los reencuentros. No hay que tocar eso la tensión, las miradas, los silencios, todo está cargado de historia, y se nota que alguna vez se amaron de verdad.
También dejaría intactos los momentos pequeños: las escenas donde no pasa mucho, pero el peso emocional está en los detalles. Una conversación incómoda, una canción que recuerda el pasado, una línea que duele más de lo que dice. Esos fragmentos son los que hacen que el libro se sienta íntimo.

Wow, oh, wow! What to even say! Kyle and Lily 😭😍 SO many emotions when it comes to these two! The fact that so many people do truly wish to travel back in time and fix mistakes or choose different paths than they've taken, and this author did it but it was in such a painful, breathtaking, heartbreaking, and edge of your seat way... I cried at a lot of parts, especially early on, knowing what it feels like to have people gone and wish for nothing but one more day with them, and both Lily and Kyle are granted that without even trying! But the fear and worry and weight of the world that followed! Ugh, omg! 😪😩 How much they grew even though technically they were older than what everyone around them thought, they still had so much to learn and grow from! I absolutely loved this book so much! So thank you for letting me receive an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily and truthfully. I cannot wait until I can have a physical copy on my shelf because I can promise you that this book will be re-read in the near future and I HAVE to buy a copy for my book bestie. Definitely make sure you read the trigger warnings though!! ⚠️ They CAN be triggering for some people! But other than a few miss-typed words, this book still came out to be a 5 star ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (First 5 star of the year!) I want to read more books from this author now because she knows how to grab everything emotion out of you and you get SO attached and involved with the plots and the characters! But I also DID NOT see some of the twist coming and honestly was expecting a terrible ending and outcome but what I got was SO much better. Definitely read this! You won't be disappointed!

OBSESIONADA. 😭💘 Regrets me agarró desde la primera página y no me soltó más. Es de esos libros que empiezas en plan “déjame very si está bueno” y al final te quedas diciendo el último capítulo y ya me voy a dormir.
Tiene romance, sí, pero hay cosas que te hacen prestar más atención y esa vibra de se aman pero la vida fue un desastre. Y el misterio/plot twist???? YO ME QUEDÉ 🤯. Cada capítulo era: ok pero qué está pasando aquí, literal cuando digo que no podía parar de leer, era que no podía jajaj.
Lo que más me gustó es que el …….. No lo diré para que Les de curiosidad y lo lean, no todo se solicita solo porque si. Aquí hay culpa, perdón, segundas oportunidades, y bueno Léanlo para que me entiendan. Y Kyle… AY DIOS. Ese hombre 😩✨ necesito uno así, gracias.
Aviso: toca temas fuertes y hay escenas intensas, pero si te gustan los libros que te hacen llorar y luego te dejan pensando, léelo.
De verdad, si quieres una historia que te haga sentir TODO, este libro es.

This author has not disappointed me. I have read all 3 of her books and I can only say that each one is better than the other. And that's why this is my favorite so far. It has mystery, romance, time travel, found family... There are several things that I did not expect but I was surprised in a very good way. I assure you that you will not regret reading this story. And I'm 100% sure that just like me, you will end up loving 2 characters in the book very much, and I'm not talking about the main ones precisely🤭

Qué onda contigo Dessy? Cómo le haces para escribir tantas maravillas? 😍
Durante toda la historia no podía parar de leer, justo anoche no pude dormir porque mi mente solo pensaba en teorías, pensaba en lo qué podría suceder después, y luego ahora que lo terminé de leer, ninguna de mis teorías fue acertada 😆 en lo único que no me equivoqué desde el principio es en que Brandy era una 🐕

La segunda oportunidad que se dieron, lo bonito que fue verla volverse a enamorar del amor de su vida 😭
Me gustó la protagonista, lo protectora que es con su hermano, me dolió mucho la escena del bullying porque como hermana mayor entiendo el dolor que causa que le hagan daño a tu hermano 🥲 y me impactó muchísimo más la escena de Oliver 😭
Kyle es un amor, pero en unas ocasiones si me sacó de quicio. Estas volviendo a construir tu historia con Lily, por qué no le dices las cosas como son chico? Dile que no pudieron evitar que haya un video, chismeale que la profesora se esta enrollando con tu amigo! Pero habla!!!
Btw todo terminó súper bien, me alegré de que no volvieran y que se dieran su segunda oportunidad en ese tiempo, la verdad a quien no le gustaría volver a vivir una segunda oportunidad de su adolescencia, estudiar otra carrera, salvar a un ser querido, tomar otras decisiones?

Es la primera vez que leo un romance/thriller con un toque de realismo mágico y sorprendentemente me gustó más de lo que esperaba. Yo entré al libro con cero expectativas, esperando solo un romance súper chulo de segunda oportunidades, pero no, la historia se tornó es algo más misterioso y ese toque me encantó!
Me gustó un montón los quotes de este libro, me sentí demasiado identificada con muchos de ellos, especialmente los quotes que tenían que ver con la situación de Kyle y sus papás. Los plot twist estuvieron chef kiss ✨ no me esperaba para nada lo que realmente estaba sucediendo. Algo que si encontré un poco tedioso durante la historia fue lo repetitivo que llegó a ser varios de los pensamientos internos de ambos protagonistas. De ahí en fuera es un libro que yo recomendaría. 🫶🏻

Arrepentidos es un libro que desde las primeras páginas, me atrapó. Es un libro que se lee con mucha facilidad, su lenguaje es claro y sencillo, lo que hace que el lector conecte rápidamente con la historia. La autora logra despertar intriga desde el inicio, provocando esa sensación constante de “un capítulo más”, hasta perder la noción del tiempo.
La forma de escribir de Desirée Peralta es muy particular: parece decirlo todo y, al mismo tiempo, no decir nada. Deja pistas, juega con la información y sabe perfectamente cómo mantener al lector enganchado. A lo largo de la lectura, uno cree anticipar lo que va a suceder, pero de repente aparece un giro inesperado que rompe cualquier suposición previa. Esto convierte la historia en algo adictivo y sorprendente.

I don’t think you can fully understand how much I loved and enjoyed this story 🥹💗. It is, without a doubt, a powerful, moving, and truly beautiful book.
I’ve read this author before, but I can confidently say this is now my favorite work of hers. The way the story is structured is impeccable, it kept me so hooked I didn’t want to put my Kindle down. I went through every emotion: I laughed, I cried, I got angry… and there were several plot twists toward the end that made me stop reading just to process what was happening. I thought I had everything figured out… but absolutely not 💀.
As for the characters, I adored them and connected with them so deeply (Oliver, not you… and honestly, we’re glad you’re dead).

I absolutely loved this book! I loved the maturity of the characters and how they handled their situations. We all need a Kyle in our lives😍😍😍
Review of advance copy
I am conflicted between 3.5 and 4 stars.
Don't get me wrong, but the story is good! Given that I have read way too many books over the years, I have developed an understanding of patterns in storylines of different genres, which makes a lot of the books I read predictable. This one stunned me with a lot of twists and turns I never expected, and the more you think, "Well, this is it!", the more twists and turns that are thrown your way.
You might be thinking, if it is that good, why the lack of 5 stars? Well, going in, I knew I was in for suspense/mystery, but I wanted to focus and evaluate equally or more on the romance factor, which is where I felt things didn't go as expected.
Before the time travel, I was getting the feeling that we were really going into a book of second chances, but as the story went by and we went back to the past, it just felt like the whole redemption of their romance or the whole second-chance storyline got completely overridden and dimmed by the amount of twists and turns the mystery and suspense was taking us. It felt more like a mystery novel, and there was a tinge of romance to it, but that also didn't really connect with me, or I just didn't feel convinced enough about them getting back together.
So, if you are reading this book for a mystery/suspense storyline (+ time travel), my perspective is that it is a 5-star, and I recommend it to you. But if you are looking for romance, this might just not be it.
In addition to all this, there were quite a few grammatical mistakes in the book, and it looks like the book might need a bit more proofreading. Eg: There was a place where the FMC was suddenly referred to as "his".
Overall, a good read. Although not the heaviness of the genre I was expecting, I am glad I picked it up, as it was fun to read.

Hace unos días terminé este libro y, sinceramente, no sabía ni por dónde empezar. Me sorprendió muchísimo. La autora te hace creer que la historia va en una dirección, pero conforme avanzas te das cuenta de que nada es lo que parece. Justo cuando pensé que ya nada podía volarme más la cabeza… boom, otra revelación. Yo quedé MALA.
La historia incluye viajes en el tiempo (10 años al pasado), pero no solo como una oportunidad para corregir errores, sino también para descubrir verdades que en su momento desconocían, investigar un asesinato que marcó sus vidas y enfrentarse a consecuencias catastróficas.
En el presente, Lily SUPUESTAMENTE no quiere saber nada de Kyle. Pero al volver al pasado están juntos, y como no pueden decir que vienen del futuro —y solo ellos dos regresaron— se ven obligados a convivir y guardar el secreto. Esa tensión… impecable.
Marqué frases, párrafos y hasta capítulos completos. Es un libro que te hace replantearte tus decisiones. Hace unos días terminé este libro y, sinceramente, no sabía ni por dónde empezar. Me sorprendió muchísimo. La autora te hace creer que la historia va en una dirección, pero conforme avanzas te das cuenta de que nada es lo que parece. Justo cuando pensé que ya nada podía volarme más la cabeza… boom, otra revelación. Yo quedé MALA.
La historia incluye viajes en el tiempo (10 años al pasado), pero no solo como una oportunidad para corregir errores, sino también para descubrir verdades que en su momento desconocían, investigar un asesinato que marcó sus vidas y enfrentarse a consecuencias catastróficas.
En el presente, Lily SUPUESTAMENTE no quiere saber nada de Kyle. Pero al volver al pasado están juntos, y como no pueden decir que vienen del futuro —y solo ellos dos regresaron— se ven obligados a convivir y guardar el secreto. Esa tensión… impecable.
Marqué frases, párrafos y hasta capítulos completos. Es un libro que te hace replantearte tus decisiones. I enjoyed the storyline and the relationships in this book. Not only Lilly and Kyle’s but the relationships between siblings and also parents. The way Lilly and Kyle made choices when they went back in time, to work harder and help protect their siblings was great.
Lilly and Kyle had a great relationship until a party that a friend had, that ultimately resulted in a death and imprisonment of the wrong person. Ten years were lost between them after Kyle testified against Lilly’s brother and now Lilly learns Kyle will be working at the same company as her. Now twenty-eight, Lilly has learned to live a quiet life with control of her emotions and never allowing herself to be in such a vulnerable position again. When the two reconnect in the lunchroom at work after hours, and after Lilly had done everything to avoid running into Kyle something happens and they realize they have gone back ten years to age eighteen. Will they be able to change the outcome of that tragic time? Can Lilly save her mom from cancer and her death?
This is the second book I have read recently on time travel and it definitely makes me think about what it would be like if we had the ability to go back and make changes. Is it something I would want? Can mistakes be fixed? Can outcomes be changed?
I thought this story could have been cut down a little shorter. This is my second book by Desiree and I would be interested in reading others by her. She has a great way of engaging the reader with topics that we can relate to. I like a book that can make me laugh, cry, question things and have emotions that are relatable.

This was a very original story that held my attention and had me anxious to see how everything turned out. I really appreciated the author's take on this idea/subject. I think everyone has something in their past that they wish they could go back and change or handle differently. So it was interesting to see how this idea unfolded.

There were also several instances were the wrong pronouns and incorrect words were used which took me out of the story and made me try to decide what the author had been trying to say.
Overall I think this was a great read with an original concept. There are some time travel stories out there but this one has its own original take on the idea. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a story that's a little different than the norm. It's definitely worth picking up and taking a chance on.

Es una historia fascinante. Es la segunda obra que leo de esta escritora y, sinceramente, superó con creces mis expectativas. Nunca imaginé que me engancharía tanto, pero desde el primer capítulo quedé atrapada. Me identifiqué profundamente con la protagonista por su carrera —una de las mías— y, a partir de ahí, no pude dejar de leer.
Lo que más me sorprendió fue la manera en que los personajes principales se sienten tan cercanos, como si fueran amigos reales del lector. En más de una ocasión deseé estar dentro del libro, investigando junto a ellos. Amé a cada personaje y odié a quienes debía odiar (Oliver… cuánto desee partirte la cara).
Además, fue mi primera experiencia con una historia que incluye viajes en el tiempo. Aunque está catalogada como romántica contemporánea, para mí también encaja en la categoría de thriller, porque nada es lo que parece: lo que crees saber nunca es realmente lo que es. Es una trama que atrapa de principio a fin.

Este libro nos cuenta la historia de Lily y Kyle quienes tuvieron una relación llena de amor en High School pero una tragedía en la vida de ambos, hace que su vida tome rumbos diferentes y cada uno siga por separado. Pasan 10 años y Kyle regresa decidido a aclarar todo lo que pasó en aquel entonces, recibir el perdón de Lily y tratar de reconquistarla ya que nunca la ha olvidado. Ahora bien Kyle hizo algo casi imperdonable y Lily no está dispuesta a perdonarlo porque no quiere abrir su corazón nuevamente a ser herido. Un accidente eléctrico hace que Lily y Kyle regresen 10 años al pasado, al momento que cambió sus vidas para siempre y es ahí donde van a descubrir que realmente pasó esa noche de la tragedia y como esa revelación cambia nuevamente el rumbo de sus vidas.
Es la primera vez que leo algo con esta premisa y tengo que decir que el libro de verdad me sorprendió muchisimo. Hay muchos quotes que me hicieron reflexionar de mi propia vida y con los cuales me identifiqué bien brutal. La historia se va desarrollando de forma que te mantiene a la expectativa y queriendo saber que realmente pasó. Cuando llegué a ese plot twist no podía ni creerlo porque jamás lo vi venir. Disfruté mucho la relación de Kyle y Lily y como aprendieron a comunicarse para poder resolver sus problemas.
Este libro está enfocado en el romance pero tiene suspenso también. En overall disfruté mucho esta lectura aunque al principio siento que fue algo repetitiva.

I have to say this author outdid herself. This is her 3rd book and you can already notice how much her writing has improved since her first book. The capability to write a story that contains romance, mystery and thriller that MAKES SENSE it’s mind blowing 🤯
Kyle & Lily showed me that real love in any timeline if it’s meant to be it will be. That you might be able you “change things” in the past but the outcome might be the same because you can only control your actions and not the others.
Seeing them both navigate through the past while using the information from the future was brilliant. Both of them making an effort not just to fix their relationship and previous mistakes but to also fix whatever was happening home.
Kyle? We all need a Kyle in our lives. A man willing to love you in every timeline of his life, even if we don’t want him to.
Lily? What a surprise (iykyk) I was not expecting that… but everything made sense. I’m happy that you stopped being so guarded about your own feelings, that you were willing to give Kyle a second chance and that when the moment that changed everything in the past happened you decided to make a different decision.

Two twenty-eight year olds in the body of eighteen year olds, taking those ten in between years with them, change their views of what really happened and how everybody was interacting at the time.
Although I liked the story very much, with some deep, psychological views and meanings between siblings and friends, their efforts to avoid the events leading to the murder were not always plausible. And, as the author states, some things are just meant to be. We can only live our own lives, make our own mistakes and live with the result. Talking about it, forgiving yourself for wrong choices and take life one day at the time. I liked the epilogue, even if I don’t really understand why it took him 10 years to act. An acceptable butterfly effect.

Increíblemente esta maravillosa autora se supera con cada libro. Este es el tercer libro que leo de la misma y la verdad es que cada vez me deja mas impresionada! Me devore el libro en dos días, me engancho desde el principio. La autora consiguió una mezcla divina entre romance, misterio y viajes en el tiempo.
La relación entre Kyle y Lily es exquisitamente hermosa, pero sobretodo el crecimiento que tuvieron ambos como personas, ver plasmados sus miedos, sus luchas, como se fueron perdonando, conociéndose cada vez mas, entendiéndose aun cuando parecía imposible. El apoyo de Kyle hacia Lily, su amor por ella y la forma tan hermosa de demostrárselo.
En la parte de misterio debo decir que en un punto estaba completamente spiraling tratando de descifrar quien era, en un momento sospeche de quien realmente lo hizo pero la autora logro engañarme y convencerme que estaba equivocada lo cual me encanto. Time travel is one of my favorite tropes, and this story used it so well. The emotional weight of being sent back with full knowledge of everything that went wrong made every decision feel heavy, tense, and meaningful. Watching Lily and Kyle navigate their past while knowing the future they’re trying to escape was heartbreaking and hopeful all at once.
The final stretch of this book was a full-on roller coaster. As truths started coming out and everything began unraveling, I could not put it down. Every revelation hit harder than the last, and the emotional payoff was so worth it.
This is a story about regret, love, forgiveness, and the impossible question of whether changing the past is worth the risk. If you love time travel with real emotional stakes and a deeply satisfying unraveling at the end, this one is for you.

Es una historia que me atrapó por el drama, el romance y sobre todo, por el peso emocional que cargan los personajes. El dolor del pasado, los malentendidos y el arrepentimiento están muy bien construidos y se sienten reales.
Me gustó mucho cómo se utiliza el viaje en el tiempo, no solo como un recurso fantástico, sino como una oportunidad para sanar, comprender y elegir diferente. La historia invita a reflexionar sobre las decisiones que tomamos, el amor que permanece y las segundas oportunidades que a veces llegan cuando menos lo esperamos.
Disfruté cada parte del proceso de descubrir la verdad junto a los personajes y conectar con su evolución. Sin duda, es un libro que recomendaría y una autora a la que seguiré leyendo.

El libro me encantó desde el comienzo, me mantuvo cautivada e intrigada, HASTA que paso lo del viaje en el tiempo desde que llegue hasta ahí todo mi entusiasmo se esfumó. Pensé que la trama iría por la primera rama de la historia me quedé con todas las ganas de ver el desarrollo de la novela en el presente, desde que se viajó al pasado se me hizo muy aburrido, no lo pude terminar pero es porque este estilo de novelas no es para mi. No quiere decir que el libro es malo solo es cuestión de gustos, y no tenía muy en claro cual era el género de este libro, pensé que era romance pero el libro es mucho mas que eso... Aun así me gustó como escribe la autora.

Qué pasa cuando te reencutras con esa persona que arruinó tu vida y la de tu familia? Y si tuvieran una segunda oportunidad de arreglar todo, la aprovecharian?
Si te gustan las segundas oportunidades, un romance que te vuelve a hacer creer en el amor, con un poco de misterio, este libro te gustará.

This was definitely a story with more than one twist! Tragedy from ten years ago tints both Lily and Kyle’s lives in the present but what if they travelled back and could fix the mistakes of the past? This is a revealing read where older eyes see the teenage stage in a different light and where unknown past events are revealed to surprise the reader on so many levels.
Glad it was kept clean but didn’t care for the bad language.

I loved this book so much. It made me cry, laugh, and feel a lot, but in a very soft and genuine way. The story leaves you with many lessons, and the quotes are beautiful. I highlighted so many parts.
Kyle completely stole my heart. I loved him, the friendships, and the family around the characters. The found family aspect was perfect. The time travel mixed with romance and a bit of thriller was very well done, and the plot twists truly surprised me. It’s a book I couldn’t put down and one that left me with a really good feeling at the end.😭😍🤌

This book stole my heart! The author added an incredible touch of mystery, and as a fan of the genre, I enjoyed it immensely. The plot was well-crafted and kept me hooked from beginning to end. The plot twists were unexpected and well-executed. The male love interest, Kyle, is simply perfect, and the female protagonist, Lily, is a total badass. Although she frustrated me a little at times, I later understood the reasons behind her actions and ended up adoring her. The ending was satisfying and left me wanting more. I highly recommend it!
