I didn’t mean to wake up the hottest man in my apartment building at six in the morning, but in my defense… my kitchen was on fire.

If there's ever been proof that a terrible first impression doesn't have to ruin your happily ever after, it's A Very Grumpy Chef by Shaw Hart. Coco and Alec's romance starts with a kitchen fire, a blaring smoke alarm, and one extremely sleep-deprived chef behaving like a complete jerk—and somehow turns into the sweetest story.
Coco is a photographer who has built a life for herself after being on her own since she was eighteen. She's independent and successful, but there's one thing she absolutely cannot do: cook. This woman can barely boil water without creating a disaster. Unfortunately, her latest attempt sets off the apartment building's fire alarm at six in the morning and wakes her very grumpy—and very attractive—new neighbor across the hall.
Alec is an accomplished chef and the new owner of Palmer's Steakhouse. Between the demanding hours at his restaurant and his already terrible sleep schedule, being awakened by Coco's fire alarm brings out his worst side. He storms over, loses his temper, and embarrasses her in front of their neighbors. Coco is understandably hurt and decides avoiding Alec from that point forward sounds like an excellent plan.
There's just one problem: Alec feels absolutely horrible about it.
I loved watching him realize just how badly he'd messed up and then work to make things right. He doesn't want Coco avoiding him—especially once he realizes he's completely captivated by her. The grumpy chef quickly becomes incredibly sweet and determined, and his attempts at apologizing, feeding her, and convincing her to give him another chance were some of my favorite parts.
Then Coco signs up for a cooking class at Alec's restaurant, and suddenly he has the perfect opportunity to show her there's much more to him than the grouch who yelled at her in the hallway.
What made their relationship especially sweet was discovering how similar they actually are. Both have spent so much time building their businesses that romance has never really been part of their lives. Neither expected to find someone, and suddenly they're experiencing so many firsts together. Alec falls hard and knows exactly what he wants: Coco, a family, a home, and forever. Coco wants him just as much, but her past makes believing in that future a little harder.
Watching Alec patiently show Coco that she can trust what they're building together made this such a satisfying read. He's completely gone for her, and once this man decides Coco is his future, there's no changing his mind.

That blaring alarm brings her new neighbor banging on her door to loudly voice his displeasure. Avevamo conosciuto Coco nel libro precedente, dove aveva fatto un po' da cupido e un po' da mastino nella storia d'amore della sua amica Pearl, e ora la ritroviamo sola nel suo appartamento a chiedersi come sia avere una storia d'amore come quelle che vede intorno a sé... solo meno appiccicosa XD Mi è piaciuto il suo bisogno di bilanciare la sua vita professionale e i suoi necessari momenti di indipendenza con l'amore che prova per il nostro chef, che sia onesta sulle sue aspettative e i suoi bisogni (e anche audace quando serve) e non mancano momenti divertenti tra incendi sfiorati e lezioni di cucina. Coco and Alec are two people who are married to their jobs and its demands, single, and overachievers. He is a high demand chef who is looking for a fresh starts of sorts, so he chose a small town: Wolf Valley. HE is brooding and grumpy, and is discipline about his schedules, so when Coco sets her fire alarm boiling water, it's Alec who comes to yell at her for the incident as they are neighbors, but feels bad about his reaction and wants to make amends as Coco deserves them and also has captivated his attention.
A cooking class and other encounters get her to accept his apologies and more leading them to a sweet relationship that claims them both body and soul (steamy and passionate! However their demanding schedules are an obstacle to them being together - you will have to read the rest to find out how they end with a sweet epilogue-.

Coco has been on her own since she turned eighteen, and her horrible mother abandoned her. She never learned how to cook, and is a disaster in the kitchen. When she starts a fire and sets off the smoke detector, she is unprepared for Alec. He bangs on her door, and embarrasses her by yelling. She tries to avoid him after that, but he feels terrible. He didn't mean to loose his temper like that and wants to make amends. Alec is so sweet with Coco after that. He really is crazy about her and now wants forever. Coco is crazy about him too, but has doubts about the future. These two get their HEA after communicating better. Such a sweet story!.

This is book number 17 of the Wolf Valley: Grumps series and focuses on Alec and Coco. Coco has been adjusting to living on her own again after her roommate moved out. Coco is a terrible cook but after a long day at work, she attempts to make dinner that ends up with her new neighbor angry at her doorstep. Alec is new to Wolf Valley and the new chef and owner of Palmer’s Steakhouse in town. One night of frustration led to Alec making a terrible first impression on Coco but he knows that she is the one for him. He is determined to get Coco to see him for who he is and not for the grumpy side he introduced initially. This was a great story and a great addition to the series.

Coco‘s first meeting with her super sexy neighbor couldn’t go more wrong. She sets off the fire alarm by burning water, she can’t cook to save her life, and her neighbor pounds on the door because she disrupted his routine. Chef Alec just moved into the building and he is getting used to the routines of small town living. Now his neighbor is setting off the alarm and disrupting his sleep. Alec yells at her and is a jerk to her, so Coco avoids him. When he wakes up the next morning, it registers that she was the most attractive woman he’s ever met, and he needs to fix his blunder, but now that she is avoiding him that is going to be nearly impossible. Will she let him apologize? Does he deserve it?

What a way for these two to meet, I was glad that Alec regretted it, and that he did all he could to make Coco change her mind about him. I liked seeing them get to know each other, I believed in their connection and chemistry, liked that she inspired him, and that he took the time to share his love of cooking with her. I also liked that they were both able to see what they truly wanted in their lives, what they needed personally to be happy, and that they were able to communicate this and do something about it.

This book was a beautiful combination of grumpy and sunshine, sweet and heat. I was completely lost to the story. I didn’t expect to care so much about characters I would be with for less than 100 pages but I most definitely fell for them hard. Coco and Alec were pure perfection together. I loved their connection and chemistry. Things between them were intense and undeniable. They did NOT have a meet cute, more like a meet shout. Even with his abrasiveness and her tears I wanted them together. The jagged edges just fit together. And I loved their connection and the way they are both so far gone for each other. The ending they got felt like exactly what they deserved.

This is a cute, short and sweet romance filled with spice and endearing characters. Coco and Alec are opposites in some ways (he can cook, she sets the kitchen on fire!), but in others they are alike; neither of them has been interested in a relationship until now, so they are both inexperienced but they are all in. In fact, it's instalove. There's only one problem: Alec is a chef opening his own restaurant, so he works long hours. Coco, a photographer working more reasonable hours, wonders when they will ever see each other. This could be the deal breaker. I thought the ending was fitting and sweet.

Alec and Coco meet when her fire alarm went off in her apartment. But he's not nice about it he simply yells at her to keep it down. He realizes too late that he was horrible to her and now she doesn't want anything to do with him. Alec's problem is he wants her but will she ever forgive him. This is a really sweet heartfelt read. Great characters and well written for a short story. I enjoyed in thoroughly.

This is a short easy read with heart and laughs. These two characters are so different which made for a fun read. She's a free spirit and he's disciplined down to the bone so it's interesting to see them work together. Alec wasn't afraid to make a move, despite the differences, but it did happen quite quickly! It was quite an insta love, which is just not my favourite trope, thus the score. It's flirty and quick, with a typical HEA. I would be interested to see if one of the other books appeals to me a bit more.

What happens when oil and water mix? In this case pure wonderful spice. Coco cannot cook to save her life, and of course her neighbour would have to be a super grumpy famous chef. Alec’s whole world is routine and being a chef helps him stay with routines. Everything in its place, but then when Coco sets off the alarm in her apartment an Alec goes to yell at her for messing up his routine, Coco is embarrassed, never wants to see the grumpy jerk again. Alec realizes that he is a grumpy jerk, and needs to see her again. Oh those sparks fly. Loved it from the beginning!!!

Who doesn’t love a grump, that realizes that he was anything but nice and has to grovel and show his true face to get the woman of his heart.

A Very Grumpy Chef Book 17 of Wolf Valley: Grumps by Shaw Hart welcome back to Wolf Valley, a charming smalltown with wonderful characters, worldbuilding and a charming romance between Coco, a photographer who can't cook and avoids Alec, a grumpy chef and Coco's neighbor. I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop and seeing that they're more alike than they realize, so sweet. Highly recommend.

This book was sweet and cute. I liked Coco. She is lonely after her best friend moved out until she makes her neighbor yell at her. Alec yells at Coco after she wakes him up. Then feels bad. These two were great together. I enjoyed this cute little read! I am loving this series!

Loved Alec and Coco. Their first meeting doesnt start off very great when she sets off the fore alarm, but when she joins his cooking class, things start to change between them. Their story is fast paced and so very sweet.
