Ally Hastings is her name and I’ve never been more obsessed with a girl in my life.
She’s sweet and innocent and nothing like me. She tells me she’s never had a guy’s hands on her before. Barely even been kissed. Hearing those words out of her pretty little lips only makes me more obsessed.
I want to corrupt her. Do things to her I shouldn’t. From the way I catch her looking at me, I know she wants it too.
The only issue is our parents just started dating and they’re already serious about a future together. If they say I do, things between me and Ally could turn weird real fast.
My Favorite Girl is a steamy, forbidden, new adult romance. It is a novella that provides glimpses into the characters’ lives over a four-year period leading up to the events in My Favorite Sin and ends on a cliff-hanger.
This novella is recommended to be listened to as the first book in the series.
It’s short, not so sweet though but steamy!!! Forbidden romance, step brother, and extra on the forbidden part because with a prominent family-yes! Now with all the drama I kinda hate the FMC, I understand why but really feel like she used Dan. I think Dan should be absolutely upset, seriously! And I walked in knowing it would be a cliffhanger, but decided to go in and yes while upset that it’s a cliffhanger I’m ok with how it ended, but can’t wait for the next book!
This popped up as a recommended book and I didn't reAlise it's a Novella... and now I'm gutted cos I wanna read the book and it's not out yet! The book is short and spans 4 years of teen growth where Dan and Ally are introduced by their parents and become step siblings even though they both clearly feel more for each other than that from the moment the meet. Whenever cross the line but come close and so Ally leaves taking a scholarship in Paris to give them both a chance not having lives apart.
My favorite girl was a wonderful, forbidden romance. This book gives you a glimpse of both the main characters and their relationship over the years. If you like step sibling romance, I highly recommend reading my favorite girl. This book was a great read. I'm looking forward to reading my favorite step brother by Skyla Summers!
This was an uneasy read for me. The MMC and FMC begin the story at 16 and 15, and while they are technically 18 and 17 by the end, the explicit scenes felt far too graphically written for characters of that age. It reached a point where I found myself skipping pages just to get past them, which really pulled me out of the story.
Even though this is intended as a background novella, I still feel it would have benefited from a more age-appropriate, immature POV and the removal of explicit sexual acts altogether. That choice alone made it difficult for me to fully engage or enjoy the narrative.
That said, this is very much my personal opinion. I’ve since moved on to the next book in the series (after much deliberation, as i feel there IS a potential story there) and already feel lighter reading it, knowing the characters are well above legal age and that everything is clearly consensual, which makes a big difference for me as a reader.
Okay, so yes, I knew going in that with this being a novella, there was going to be no HEA and there was going to be a cliffhanger. But fuuuck Skyla I think you ripped my heart out right along with Dan's😭 I can't wait for October for My Favorite Stepbrother, I need the happy ending🥲 I just want to hold Dan and tell him everything will be okay!
If the prequel was like this, imagine the whole book...
I've been missing reading a book with the forbidden trope, with that half-sibling (no blood relation) thing, and here it was a cliché of this trope, with that usual talk of "we can't, this is wrong, blah blah blah." However, the reasons why these characters can't be together make a lot of sense here...
I think this promises a lot for the book itself.
I really liked that the focus here was more on a "sentimental" relationship, so to speak, rather than just carnal desires. It allows you to see that the relationship between the characters was truly genuine. They spent four years falling in love with each other. And even though there weren't scenes of the two protagonists actually doing certain acts, there were plenty of steamy moments that give a taste of what's to come, if you know what I mean. 😋
As soon as the book is released, I’m going to drop everything to read it because it really promises! I can already feel it will be one of my favorites this year. In fact, I see a lot of potential for this to turn into a series telling the stories of Dan's brothers, the protagonist. I feel like each of them has something to tell, especially Félix, who is quite the hottie.
Here’s a thing: I wanted to hear Anthony Palmini’s voice in a contemporary romance setting - and this one was highly advertised, so I said let’s try it… Narration is 5/5 duet style! - nothing to complain about!
Not many safety info available from other readers, but let me tell you what bothered me: MMC and FMC are young when they meet 17 -18 and soon to be step siblings- (this could have been great: the sneaking around, the angst, starting with friendship shifting to forbidden aspects etc!) and they like each other from the get go- great setup! Right? Wrong! Cuz MMC is already a player and throughout the half of this short story he constantly ducks OW thinking about FMC including one of her bullies ! 🤦🏻♀️😑Way to go! 😖 Even for such a short story it was repetitive and in desperate need of better planning and execution! Not safe, MMC and plenty of OW! FMC stays virginia for a few years! 😒

"I'm sorry about everything. You have to forgive me because you're my person and I don't know what I'll do if you stay angry with me." My heart skips a beat. "Your person?" "My favorite person."
I got the chance for a ALC from this book. Already was a big fan for Skyla her writing (read my favorite secret a few months ago). The duet narrating was amazing. The narrators were killing it. Mr palmini and Heather Firth.
Can't wait for the second book, because that cliffhanger hurt! Thanks so much for the chance to have a advence listen copy🖤🎧
It's a taboo romance between between step siblings Ally and Dan. In this prequel you learn how they met and how there love for each other develops from friends into something more. But how can love conquer when it's forbidden?
My heart breaks for them 😭 I understand Ally's choice but I cant imagine that Dan will cope well at all. This next book will be a mess but I'm here for it
If it weren’t for the sexual content, not that it was much, I would’ve thought this was both written by and written for the young adult audience, but I see it’s labeled as an adult novella. I get that with the sexual content, but the rest, including the writing, was rather juvenile. What girl Ally’s age wears ruffled dresses? Are we going for kinderwhore? May check out the actual book but will DNF if the writing isn’t improved.
My Favourite Girl is the prequel to My Favourite Brother, a taboo romance about Ally and Dan.
When I first heard about this book I had to read it. I'm a sucker for a taboo romance and instantly must download anything that is taboo, and My Favourite Girl did not disappoint. I read it in one sitting, unable to put it down for anything. I was instantly hooked when I read the dedication never mind actually getting to the story - "For all the well behaved girls who like being praised and told they're a good girl when doing the wrong thing."
The writing flowed beautifully, keeping me hooked throughout. Dan and Ally are everything, she is shy, sweet, lonely and innocent, Dan is the opposite in every way. He is dominant, outgoing and will doing anything for her. Dan is incredibly caring towards Ally knowing exactly what she desires and needs.
There was a perfect balance between the story and spice. The time jumps allowed their relationship to build perfectly going from innocent to something that wasn't. I was left wanting more, that cliffhanger may have had a few curse words leaving my mouth.
Skyla Summers has created the perfect novella introducing us to the Blackwood world. It is the perfect introduction to Dan, Ally and their story, setting up My Favourite Stepbrother perfectly.
stop! this was such a good prequel novella! I literally devoured it. i love Dan & Ally. I was so invested in their story and I’m literally rooting for them so bad 🥹 I feel like they are so great for each other. they’re definitely each other’s person. Dan is so sweet and patient with Ally. Hopefully he stays that way but idk because that cliffhanger was a mess 😭 I fear he may be a different person in the next one 👀 and I can’t wait to read it and see what happens with them!
💜 forbidden romance 👑 step siblings 💜 praise kink 👑 spice lessons 💜 sneaking around 👑 good girl x bad boy 💜 protective/obsessed mmc
I am sooo excited that I got to ARC this book! It’s EVERYTHING and then some!!!
It was soooo well written and I didn’t want it to end, even though I knew it was only the prequel! His Queen! My heart, it didn’t know how to feel, so it felt EVERY emotion!
Seriously, in my top 5 for the year! Read this! It’s quick, and amazing! Sooooo hot and steamy, it will turn you into a puddle! You will be turning pages as fast as lightning!
I seriously cannot wait for the next one to come out!!!
I went in a little skeptical since this story starts when they’re young, but the approach to those first four years was handled really well. It’s full of angst, yearning, pining, and honestly… a whole lot of sneaking glances and quiet obsession behind their parents’ backs lol.
For me, things really got interesting once Ally hit her senior year 😉 The tension finally snaps, and whew—everything I wanted from their dynamic started to unfold.
But that cliffhanger? YIKES. I need book 2 immediately because I must know how this is going to shake out!
This book is a prequel, I get it. It's starts and builds from when they're in high school. It just felt really juvenile.
It has a lot of hope. By the end of the book, they are now both in college, of college age, so I think I'll start to enjoy the storyline. I don't know if we needed a novella, I think this could have been condensed to the start of the novel or even flashback scenes throughout the novel?
I can't wait to hear more about their lives, as a pianist and poker player. Their character development was lacking for me in this book.
I absolutely LOVED this one! So much angst between these two. Dan is such an protective & educational step brother 🤣 Such a fun good time and I cant not wait for the next audio to release!
Firstly, thank you Skyla Summers for the privilege of an advanced copy! 🫶🏻
My thoughts: My Favorite Girl is a captivating prequel novella that dives into the complexities of forbidden romance and the thrill of sneaking around. When Ally and Dan first meet it definitely gave me instant love vibes. Ally is innocent, shy and lonely due to a rough past, Dan is confident but has a poor relationship with his father due to a tragic past. Dan instantly takes to Ally, drawn to her innocence and wants to understand her and be there for her. Meanwhile she’s mostly just shocked he’s giving her any attention at all. This novella takes place over the course of 4 years, with multiple time jumps, their parents marry, they become best friends, flirt with temptation and walk the line of right and wrong.
An enjoyable read from start to finish! I knew it wasn’t a dark romance going into this one, but was pleasantly surprised by how wholesome their love actually was. Dan surprised me for sure, I don’t know why I expected him to be mean, but he was the complete opposite, he would do ANYTHING for her. My Favorite Girl kept me engaged, the tension was palpable, and the spicy scenes were perfectly balanced with emotional depth. The cliffhanger left me eager for more! I’m ready to get my hands on book 1: My Favorite Stepbrother releasing 1st October to see how it all unfolds. Highly recommend for fans of forbidden love.
You will love this book if you love: 💜Step-sibling Romance 🤭Forbidden Love 🌶️Spicy Lessons 😈Good Girl/Bad Boy
I honestly couldn’t get enough of this book. I absolutely loved the relationship between Aly and Dan. The moment he saw her he was mesmerized. He knew in that moment that no other girl would ever compare to Aly 😩 Dan was literally the sweetest! I loved how he took an interest in the things Aly liked simply because she liked them. And Dan’s dirty talk? And his spicy lessons? One word: HOT 🥵 They barely touched and I couldn’t get enough! That’s how hot it was.
Do keep in mind that this book does end on a cliffhanger since it is the prequel to My Favorite Stepbrother. I cannot wait to read more about Aly and Dan. Thank you so much Skyla Summers for the ARC 🫶
This is my first time reading Skyla Summers, and I have to say how completely captivated I am with this story. I loved it so much that I devoured it in one sitting! I couldn't put my Kindle down until I'd read the very last word.
The story begins with a teenage Dan and Ally meeting for the first time and continues their relationship through the years. Some of Dan and Ally's interactions were as sweet as my favorite triple berry cherry pie, while the intense sexual tension between these two were off the charts and had me engaging in some serious thigh clenching!
My Favorite Girl is the prequel to the full length novel "My Favorite Sin," and I can't tell you just how happy I am that this book is out and I don't have to wait to read it! I'm going to get started on it right away because I can't wait to find out what happens to Dan and Ally next!
My Favourite Girl is the prequel to My Favourite Stepbrother and is quick read being a novella. The chemistry, compassion and found family between Dan and Ally was perfect, honestly Dan just deserves to be loved. This does finish on a cliffhanger so be prepared to wait for My Favourite Stepbrother. I adore the way Skylar writes and she definitely leaves you invested in the story and you grow to love the characters. I couldn’t put it down and didn’t want it to end! I also cannot wait for Dan’s brother’s books as well, they are definitely one hot family. Highly recommended. I received a complementary copy from the author.
Ally - Is a quiet lonely girl, who has had trauma in her life, she has a very close relationship with her mother, as a mother / best friends relationship. Ally plays the piano and is really good. Her mother has met a new love interest who treats her like a daughter, he has four sons, one who she's just met who befriends her and starts to fall for, he's her person and one who she can't stop thinking about.
Dan - Is a ladies man, very popular and well known, he's not had the best relationship with his father, his father wants him to meet his new partner and her daughter, Dan makes a promise for a new car. After meeting Ally Dan changes, he wants this new Forbidden fruit he know he can't have, he starts to fall for her and soon forgets about the deal about the car.
Two people who are close and have fallen in love with each other, knowing that they can't go there as they are step siblings, it doesn't stop them from getting steamy without touching each other. This was a mix of steamy needs!
I absolutely loved this short story, and can mot wait for the 1st book that comes after this Novella. It was beautifully written and it captured you hook line and sinker, I cannot wait to see where the next story leads too! I secretly hope the step siblings finally make their way back to each other!
