A domestic psychological thriller where the lines blur, the morals bend, and you may just find yourself rooting for the killer! He said he would do anything to protect her... He just never mentioned the trail of bodies that would follow closely behind.
On the unforgettable night of New Year’s Eve in 1999, when the world was celebrating and the century they knew slipped into the next, Mya’s reality was anything but festive. While everyone else was counting down, she was hanging on for dear life.
In the darkest corner of the night, a stranger named Ryan found her in a situation she couldn’t escape from. She was broken and terrified. She had lost something that she didn't even know mattered, but he stayed by her side through it all. In the years that followed, he became her safe place… The man she built her entire life around.
Now married, that foundation begins to show some cracks when Ryan finally shares a deadly confession. One that reaches into every shadow of their past and may be too heavy for Mya to hold. Searching for clarity, she turns to someone else for guidance but what she finds is something far more dangerous.
Old trauma resurfaces. New threats close in. And the line between protection and destruction begins to blur.
Soon, more than a few unsettling deaths circle their lives like a pattern Mya can’t ignore.
Are they coincidences?
Is it Karma?
Or could it be something far more deliberate?
This is a story about love strong enough to survive anything, even the truth.
I really enjoyed the overall plot. The concept pulled me in and I genuinely wanted to see how everything would unfold. The emotional core of the story was strong, and you can clearly feel how deeply she loves Ryan.
That said, some of the dialogue felt repetitive and a bit unnecessary at times. Certain conversations seemed doubled, and I found myself hearing the same sentiments more than once.
The admiration for Ryan was clear, but it was emphasized so frequently that it started to feel overdone. Once or twice would have been powerful. Repeating it in most chapters made it lose some impact for me.
Overall, I did love the plot and the direction of the story, I just think tightening the dialogue would have made it even stronger.
I throughly enjoyed every minute I spent reading this book! I felt as if I knew the characters personally, as the author developed them with depth and complexity. As the story unfolded, there were many surprises that kept me turning pages. This is one of those books that you can’t put down to go to sleep, because you just NEEDED to find out more! The setting felt very familiar to me, as I spent many years living in Central New York. The ending was an unexpected surprise and added a twist to the story. I will be recommending this to my friends and family!
The storyline was good, but there were so many grammatical errors that I found it difficult to get through. Someone didn’t do their job when it came time to edit! What a shame.
interesting leeway of a couple's perspective of how to become a vigilante pair to make justice happen and i was literally expecting for bad karma to happen at the end but it didn't, it was a safe read!
Such a great and easy book to get into! Loved the characters and their relationship with one another throughout the book! I couldn’t figure out what was going to happen next which was exciting! Great ending to the book! Can’t wait to read more from this author!
