Blair ruined my life once. Now she's about to ruin me in an entirely different way.
Blair Fox.
The name that's been seared into my memory since the day her stick caught my knee and ended my athletic ambitions. The scar on my thigh is a permanent reminder of everything I lost, thanks to her.
Now she's here. In my law firm. Looking at me like she wants to either argue with me or devour me—and I can't tell which one terrifies me more.
We're enemies. Rivals. We can't be in the same room without the air crackling between us.
So how the hell did we end up tangled together in a New Orleans hotel room? And why does it keep happening?
It was supposed to be one mistake. One reckless, desperate kiss after too many late nights working together. But now I can't stop thinking about the way she tastes. We're playing with fire. The partners are watching. Office gossip spreads like wildfire. One wrong move and both our careers go up in smoke.
But the real danger? I'm still closeted. My father doesn't know. The firm doesn't know. And when someone forces us under the mistletoe at the office Christmas party, I panic—destroying the woman I've fallen impossibly, irrevocably in love with.
I thought hating Blair was safer. Easier. But the woman who ruined my knee fifteen years ago has become the only one who can put me back together.
Now I just have to be brave enough to claim her.
Perfect for readers who love high-stakes workplace romance, rivals who can't keep their hands off each other, and women brave enough to risk everything for love.
Amanda Booker played Blair Fox in field hockey, and Blair unintentionally crippled Amanda. And Amanda has never forgotten it. Then they get assigned to work together...
Blair is terrified of working with Amanda, but she seems to want to let the past go. They also have to keep the peace for the job.
They're both shocked to run into the other at a gay bar... both get too drunk and kiss, then Amanda panics and bolts. She is not out to her family, the idea of being out at worries her, so she flees.
Blair is less than pleased. Worse they have to go to New Orleans together for several days on a work trip. They sleep together, finally....
Amanda is still opposed to being out, and while Blair is ok to start with, the sneaking around gets to her. They get dared to kiss at a party, Amanda balks, third act breakup.
Good wrap up. 3.5 stars out of 5. Not terrific but solidly good.
Wonderful heartfelt story. Two high school rivals meeting years later working for the same law firm. One out the other deep in the closet.
I loved Amanda’s father Richard apologizing when she came out. Oh, that all parents reacted this way. Tessa has a knack for simple wisdom. The waitress telling Blaire her secret to happiness-count your blessings.
First novel I’ve read by Tessa Vidal will definitely be reading others.
