I was a Fortress. He was the battering ram no one saw coming.
When I arrived at Fort George, I naively believed my name would be enough to keep me safe from unwanted attention. It wasn’t. First step in, I found myself in a waltz with the heir to Fort’s most powerful crime family.
Mason Grant is a predator, a god-faced monster, who would stop at nothing to own me.
I may be a princess, but he’s a King. No amount of wealth, influence, or protection can save me from him.
He’d lie, deceive, hurt, kill. Anything to keep me his.
I can’t stop it. Not him. Not the war he has started in my name.
But our time is running out.
When his lies unravel and the house of cards comes crashing down, will I survive him? Or will he finally destroy me?
Perfect for readers who College Dark Romance, Billionaire x Crime, Black Cat Good Girl FMC, Obsessive, Hotheaded Antihero, Forbidden Enemies-to-Lovers, “Touch her, meet God” intensity. This is a dark romance containing mature themes. Please check the content warning inside the book before reading.
ok bro listen… five fucking stars for the SIMP LORD Mason Grant. FIVE ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ actually no give him more. give him ALL the stars in the universe because that man CARRIED this book on his broad, unhinged, morally questionable shoulders. he is the moment. he is the standard. he is my walking wet fucking dream. 🫠🫦💅🏼 I was absolutely FERAL for this man. like barking at the pages feral. someone sedate me immediately.
but also!!! Eva’s story?? was actually GOOD?? like genuinely good??? because Eva… oh my god Eva. she was STRUGGLING. and not in some cute quirky way but in a very real, messy, painful way and it hurt my heart so bad??? 😭💔 she felt so real and raw and human and watching Mason just SEE her??? truly see her??? understand her??? stand there like the most unhinged, obsessed rock of a man??? yeah no my heart actually fucking ached. he was so gone for her it wasn’t even funny anymore.
I don’t even know if I can say much more because I was honestly completely blindsided by the plot. not because it was bad but because I was too busy drooling over Mason half the time. 🫠 but as far as mafia romance goes this was GOOD. like genuinely entertaining, messy, dramatic goodness.
and I am REALLY looking forward to the next one??? pls tell me it’s about Thea and Kane because WHAT do you mean???? the tension??? HELLO??? the looks??? the vibes??? ughhhhh inject it directly into my veins immediately🫦🔥
wait I think I forgot to mention something important… Mason??? yeah. the mouth on that man??? DIABOLICAL. absolutely criminal behavior. the possessiveness??? out of this world. the obsession??? unmatched. terrifying. perfect. no notes 🚩❤️🔥
i’m in love. there were butterflies. there was screaming. there was giggling. there was me clutching my chest like a Victorian woman on a fainting couch.
anyway. i’m an incoherent mess but fuck me this was so good and exactly what i needed 🫶🏼🔥🫦
This was my first ever physical arc and surely my annotation tabs show how much I loved it? If you saw Mia’s inbox as well, that would be another hint 😂
This was so amazing. I enjoyed this mafia romance as much as I enjoy collecting crystals (if you know me, then you know!). The mystery (because of course she edged us until the last part of the book to know what was going on!), the tension, the obsession and the smut 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼
The bookpression I am currently in since finishing reading Mason and Eva’s story, is wanting me to reread it all over again. I miss Mason and his absolutely delulu personality (think hating an ex-boyfriend from way before he even knew you-delulu!)

Oh the drama! This book is really ok, but the drama 😂 Of course we have another case of: “If you liked God of Malice, this one is for you”, but it’s just too dramatic.
There are a couple of things that bugged me here.
• First, there was never a clear reason for Mason being so overly obsessed with Eva. I didn’t like that that was somehow given. No reason, no build up - just “ok, we hate her and her family but let’s become obssessed, because I’m crazy”. • Then, Eva - beyond dull and shallow. I understand mental health issues, but the reason behind her struggles were not clear even after we got the resolution of the whole story. It’s just half-delivered. And also, let’s be honest - she’s just a spoiled little brat.
Side characters were ok, I guess. Lots of potential for standalnoe sequels.
Spice is 3.5🌶️, but there is this plot and sub-plot that doesn’t dissapear from all the steam and stuff, so kudos for that!
So if you like mafia-like stories, in this case set in London, and UK in general, with dramatic characters, conspiracy, and little bit of murder, this one’s for you.
If there are sequels, might pick them up just for fun.
A dark romance where he is completely obsessed with her, even though he can't have her. Sign me the fuck up! Eva lost her parents in a car accident after that her brother took over the family business. She's a billionaires daughter and Mason is the son of a crime family that her family had business with before her parents were killed in the accident.
Mason decides that Eva is his, that he owns her. It's actually hot, because he isn't just possessive. He actually cares about her. He helps her when she has nightmares, they happen almost every night unfortunately. I love that they are each other crazy. Eva is a good girl, but my girl, your fantasy's are a little crazy. But I love that for her. I also love that she actually stands her ground and doesn't let Mason walk right over her.
I know that I'm going to give a spoiler now, so you don't have to read this if you plan on reading it yourself. It broke my heart how much they love each other. Mason actually let her go because he thought that was better for her and wanted to move to another country because everything reminded him of her. Eva hates smoking and hated it when Mason smoked but she smoked so she felt closer to Mason. That actually broke my heart.
My favorite quote: I'm a hollow vessel without her. She is my frenzy, my madness. Everything starts and ends with her.
What's Inside: - Dark College Romance - Obsessive & Possessive - Touch Her and Die - Burn the World - Rivals to Lovers - Billionaire Heiress x Mafia Heir - Traumatic Past - Secrets and Hidden Enemies
This is a fast paced dark romance that doesn't waste time with the slow burn. It jumps right to obsession, and quickly moves to steamy possession, with a strong but troubled FMC and an MMC that gives no fucks about anything other than getting what he wants. And what he wants it Eva, the billionaire heiress of his families biggest rival.
This didnt feel like 440 pages - I devoured it in less than 24 hours. Faithless Heir was a fun time with lots of (mid-level) spicy scenes, a fast moving storyline and two characters who shouldn't be together, but couldnt possibly be with anyone else. Plus, I can't help but love a tall DARK and tough MMC that will do whatever it takes to possess and keep the woman he wants. Not to mention that he is also running around on his Ducati tearing up the pavement and chasing after his girl.
We also get some interesting friends/supporting characters with some sparks flying that will likely turn into their own books in the series. Of course we get drama and plot twists and things that kept me guessing and kept the plot interesting and engaging. Overall a solid and enjoyable dark college romance. If you like LJ Shen then this is likely a book you will enjoy.
⚜️Eva, a smart, young and beautiful girl, decided to study in the forbidden city. In a city ruled by her family's enemies. After her parents die in an accident, and her brother joins her grandfather in managing their empire, she feels as if she is alone, with bodyguards breathing down her neck and without the right to make decisions in her life.
⚜️One evening, in an attempt to liven up and enjoy herself like everyone else, she goes out to a club( property of Forth family) to have a good time and there she sees him, the heir of Fort. Mason Grant 👑
⚜️ Mason Grant is considered a callous, hard-natured man who does whatever he wants. The whole world is at his feet, he has money, power and the beauty of God. Just one look at Eva is enough to turn his life upside down, and all his views on life change. And if he knows and is aware that she is a forbidden zone for him because of the rivalry between their families, from the moment their eyes meet, there is no one else for him but Eve. He decided one thing, Eva is only his.
⚜️ My people, I read this book in less than 24 hours. A total roller coaster of emotions. This book has a story that will leave you breathless. The chemistry between the main characters, I can't describe in words how I felt while reading this book. Eva has her own demons to fight after the death of her parents, and if Mason is forbidden to her for many reasons, he is the one who is there for her and understands what she is going through. Eva will learn many things about the death of her family and about her childhood, and during that time Mason will be by her side. He is a really strong character in every sense of the word. The book held my attention from beginning to end, because it has everything that is needed for a good book. I have written several times that a good author really needs to have good imagination and words to write a good book.

Bestie hear me the hell out, I was absolutely taken by this whole story. Mia’s writing is so freaking good, I loved how natural it felt. Both characters made such an impact on me, especially Eva. This is the dark romance book that I knew I needed.
Eva’s story was truly touching and so good. The author portrayed her trauma, behavioural responses and struggles flawlessly. I enjoyed that you got to see different parts of the FMC. She was explained in the beginning as pretty much being “caged”. I’m glad we got to see her fly, even if she did some questionable things to achieve that. Eva was a bratty, daring, strong and broken character.
Mason Grant is top tier Italian mafia book boyfriend material. Seriously couldn’t get enough of him. He’s so morally black but also worships the ground his queen walked on? Masons character definitely didn’t know boundaries, the guy had to have her and he’d rip the damn limbs off of anyone who’d touch her. He had experienced enough of his own suffering, but his walls came down because of her. The way he’d protect Eva, even if it was from herself. 🫠

Thank you to Love Notes PR and the author for the ARC — out March 30th.
Dark mafia romance? Rival families? Morally unhinged man? Say less.
Eva is grieving her parents and starting over at a new uni when she runs straight into Mason Grant, her father’s rival’s son… who should hate her, but instead becomes completely feral. We’re talking possessive, obsessive, slightly concerning behaviour (break-ins, stalking, the usual 🚩 romance checklist).
This started strong. The tension? Great. The setup? Hooked.
The middle? I drifted, pacing dipped and I lost interest a bit.
The ending? Pulled me back with a twist that was part predictable, part “okay wait 👀”
Mason is very much a “god-faced menace” type, if you like your MMCs unhinged and morally grey, you’ll eat this up.
Also 👀 the side characters (Hugo, James, Kane) have main character energy and I’m way more excited to see where the series goes with them.
Overall: messy, dramatic, a little chaotic, but I had a good time.
Mason Grant is my entire personality ahhah By the way . Thank you for this arc copy I have to say . I was glued from the first chapter of this book and omg Eva and Mason are pure fire! Personally, I ate this book and I found this entire book very entertaining. I am so ready for the next book ahahaha give other books, please
If you want a romance that has a lot of spice, a good plot and dark elements this is for you! I really enjoyed this book. It had be hooked since the beginning and the plot twist that I didn’t see coming’! Eva and Mason were just perfect for each other even if they were a bit toxic 😅 can’t wait to read about the next couple! 4 stars!
Mason Grant!? This man!! Ugh the way he was so down bad for his girl 😩 these two were so perfect for each other I absolutely ate their story up!! Had the best time reading this book and was hooked from chapter one.
[I might write a full review after exams]
Thank you so much to the author and love notes pr for the arc!!
There are times when you don’t even know what you liked about a book and where you only happen to remember the fact that you liked it. This book happens to fall into that category.
While I was reading this, I was constantly thinking about how Mia Thorn could become a new auto-buy author for me. Granted, you won’t be finding the next philosophical epiphanies in there. However, sometimes one simple needs something to take their mind someplace else, which is often easier said than done. Personally, this is my type of perfect distraction: action, mystery and a romance plot. Exactly what I need to escape reality for a limited period of time. :)
Thank you for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review! I am very much looking forward to reading more about other characters.
This book is an amazing spicy dark romance which took me through an emotional ride a couple different times. Our main characters Mason and Eva are flawed, messy but strong characters which made the story feel more real. The tension and angst in the book was top tier and the banter between the MCs as well as their friends was so fun to read. The character developments from the beginning to the end was amazing. The author pertrayed Eva's trauma and struggles so well and we get to read different sides to her like when she's struggling or when she's trying live her life. I love how possessive Mason is about Eva and also how much he cares for her. He just might be one of the best MMC I've read this year. This was an easy 5 star for me. Super excited for the next book in this world!!
I did receive an e-ARC from the publisher in exchange for my honest review. Super grateful for it!

Eva Etheridge is grieving and traumatised, missing memories and has been forced to change university... to a town where her billionaire family are public enemy number one. On a night out, she attracts the attention of Mason Grant, heir of one of the families who hates the Etheridges most. Hacking her phone, he lures her away from her friends and makes it clear that he owns her. What he doesn't expect is for that to spiral into an obsession he can't break free from - or that she willingly goes along with, despite the animosity from her brother. Has he broken his cardinal rule and fallen for a woman? And when her memories return and secrets are revealed, can anything be salvaged?
This book, in all honesty, has me so torn! Do I love Mason Grant or do I think he's toxic af?! Did I appreciate the end twist enough to offset the fact the middle third was a bit slow and relied purely on smut to keep you turning the pages? It's taken me a while to put this review together and I've decided that it does get a 4⭐ rating for me - and that's really thanks to the backstory of what happened on the night of her parents' deaths, the twist and how it was revealed, and the actions of Mason at the end.
Mason is a dreadful character. He has been raised to believe he is the King of Fort, and not even his brothers-in-arms are equal to him. He uses women as a release and nothing more, with no intention of ever showing a woman love. He is morally black, forget grey! When he sets eyes on Eva it is all about control, and when she doesn't cower easily, that need to control her becomes even more necessary. When he manages to break into her flat and sees the distress she is going through in her sleep, it almost awakens a tenderness in him, but he couches it in his usual savagery. He stalks her every move, utterly obsessed with her, and it doesn't take long until he makes a move on her. Again, it is all about control - but she eats it up. As someone with a V card I almost feel sorry for her - her only experience is rough and controlling - but she is totally into it. The touch her and meet God vibes are ridiculous with Mason - I truly believe he'd take out one of his best friends in a heartbeat. He is beyond dark. (He also doesn't like dogs, which is a serious red flag for me!) Having said all that, however, his protective streak when she is sleeping is a theme revisited and makes me like him a bit more, and the decision he makes towards the end of the novel shows he does actually love her, despite the controlling and rough exterior. I think overall, I'm a fan, but I can definitely see him being a marmite character.
Eva is a traumatised, broken mess and I feel that Mia Thorn really nailed that when writing her character. Eva is protected by a bodyguard team detail, yet is tormented more by her own mind than anybody other than Mason Grant (and Hugo, who aims his car at her). She wreaks carnage with her nails in her sleep, takes all sorts of meds, has regular sessions with a psychiatrist (who reports back to her brother - a hint at the secrets to unfold later on), and refers to her mum and dad in the present tense, despite her being very aware that they are dead. When Mason bullies his way into her life, she is desperate for an escape from her internal demons, and his forbidden nature plus her clear bad boy fantasy reels her straight in. She is never fully pliant, always has her teeth on show, but the respite he grants her from the noise in her head leaves her dependent on him. Even after the big reveal, when she's not speaking to him, she relies on the fact that he calls at the same time every day, regardless of the fact she doesn't answer. He becomes her constant, and she falls hard.
I absolutely loved the plot bubbling away in the background. Who was responsible for the deaths of Eva's parents? What was the deal with the abduction when she was a child? Why does Reginald Grant want a truce with her family, when everyone else opposes it? Why does Eva have amnesia? The middle third drags a lot and so the final third has a lot to carry on its shoulders, but the twists were magnificent. Memento Mori happens to be a title of one of my favourite Lamb of God songs, so I think that particular twist will stick with me for some time!
If you like your smut controlling, rough, with extras like bl00d play, withholding Os and somnophilia, then you're going to enjoy this. It was well written, but the middle third relied far too much on it when it could have been developing the backstory further in my opinion.
Overall this was a good debut by Mia Thorn, and I look forward to reading Kane and Thea's story when it comes out, as they seem an unlikely pairing!
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review this book!
Faithless Heir: A New Adult Dark Romance Mia Thorn I Finished reading Faithless Heir by Mia Thorn. I have to say, Way to Go Mia!!! The book kept my interest start to finish. It had a good twist that I didn't see coming because most of the time, I can usually guess what the twist is before they happen and I didn't this time. I have noticed that a lot of dark romance books lose the plot or doesn't end up having a plot to the story because it gets caught up in all the sex scenes, so it was nice to see that Mia didn't lose her way. Faithless Heir is about a girl that loses her parents and has to go to a different college that she had not been going too. She wanted to keep her head down and just not be noticed but that would not be the case. Eva was always on Mason's radar. Their families were enemies, but Eva drew Mason in. There was just something about her that he couldn't get out of his head. He was very possessive of her. She fought him as long as she could, but I think secretly there really wasn't much of a fight on her end. I think she wanted him from the beginning but didn't want to let herself want him. I loved how he took care of her. First without her knowing it than how he did it openly in his way, even if she didn't like it or agree to it at first. He truly fell for her first and very deeply. the quote says it all: "Why go through the trouble?" "Because you have changed my brain chemistry." I kiss he neck. "Permanently." "So, I'm responsible for your madness?" "You are my f**k**g madness, Little Dove." I chuckle. "The good kind. The kind that keeps me from turning truly unhinged."-Mason Mason always knew that he had a beast inside himself. One that he had to keep a tight chain on because if he didn't, he would lose himself completely. It's in my blood-the heat the howl, the hunt, the monster that lives inside me who dreams in crimson storms. He was a King to everyone around him. He knew it and so did they. He was born into a Mafia family, and he embraced who he was. He may have wanted revenge on the Etheridge family in the beginning, and he did give Eva a hard time but that change fast. He knew she was a princess the moment she got there. Princess F**k**g Etheridge- Crowned the moment she walked through the gates of Kingsden. But I think that her strength in who she was even though she didn't see her strength called to him. He needed someone who could match his strength. Hers messed with his head. Eva Etheridge stepped into the lion's den, thinking she could bare her teeth. Now she'll learn what happens when you lock eyes with the king- and don't F**k**g blink. It was fun reading their relationships back and forth, cat and mouse play. I'm not going to say that I liked everything about the book because that wasn't the case. I would have loved to have had more of Mason with his side, his family, friends, etc. It hit on it some which was good. I was happy to see that I just wanted more of it. I also wanted more of Eva with her brother and Grandfather. I feel like there could have been more to their story and a more understanding of why the parents kept them apart. I mean you understand some but for some reason i just feel like there was more to it that was left unsaid. Over-all it was a good book. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to read the next book in the series. Mia Thorn, you did amazing!!! I would highly recommended reading this book over and over again.
Mason... my man, take my heart already. He is the embodiment of everything I love and need in a male lead. His presence, his personality, every little thing about him made me hopelessly attached to him 🤍
And Eva… my beautiful intelligent girl, she was so adorable and lovable. I loved her with all my heart. There was something so special about her that made my heart soften every time she appeared.
I swear, the two of you have taken a permanent place in my heart, and I’ll never forget you both 🫶🏻
----------------------♘
“I hate you.” I shove him back. Not that he moves even an inch. “That’s ok, princess.” He grins. “Hate me while you moan my name.”
I hold her tight, like she might slip away at any moment. I could lose her so easily. A few words will do it. Once she knows the secrets buried six feet under, she’ll never look at me again, let alone choose me. My eyes bore into hers. I imagine never being able to see this shade of blue again. Never feeling her heat again. Never hearing my name in her voice again. The mere thought turns me feral. In that exact moment, I know I’ll burn the world to keep her. “I’m never letting you go, princess,” I groan, holding her face in my hands as she chases her peak.
If I don’t, you don’t either, little dove.” I smirk. “You don’t have a choice?” She giggles. “When it comes to you,” I whisper, pulling her closer. “I have never had a fucking choice.” “Why not?” she asks with an adorable pout, her brows knitting together. “You could have any girl you want.” “I have the girl I want.” “But why me? Is it because I’m an Etheridge?” “It’s in spite of the fact you are an Etheridge.” “Why go through the trouble?” “Because you have changed my brain chemistry.” I kiss her neck. “Permanently.” “So, I’m responsible for your madness?” “You are my fucking madness, little dove.” I chuckle. “The good kind. The kind that keeps me from turning truly unhinged.” Her pulse spikes under my lips, arms tightening around my biceps. “You see now.” Pulling back, I grin at her. “Why I can never let you go? I need you to keep me sane.”
The power Eva has over me is quiet, but absolute. She bends me to her will without knowing, without uttering a word. The kind of power that makes surrender feel like a choice, but isn’t.
The woman turns me into an insatiable animal who wants to feast on her until she’s writhing against me and screaming my name. My desire for her makes me unhinged, ravenous, possessed.
She’s running away from me. Again. Of course she is. Testing my patience is her favorite sport. There is no line she won’t make me cross. No vow she won’t make me break. Not one bond she’ll let me uphold. Everything must be sacrificed at her fucking altar. So here I am, chasing after her again. Because to love—real love—is not to let go. Not when they’re leaping straight into the fire. It is staying. Even when they scream. Even when they hate you for holding them together. I was never her fucking prince. I’d rather be the villain who keeps her safe. Run, all you want, princess. I will catch you. Every. Single. Time.
this woman, who owns me so completely, I’m a hollow vessel without her. She is my frenzy, my madness. Everything starts and ends with her.
“Loving you is not easy, little dove. Keeping you from hurting yourself, watching you leave, and not being able to steal you back, then walking away from you… It’s the hardest fucking thing I’ve ever had to do.”
Now she’ll learn what happens when you lock eyes with the king-and don’t fucking blink.
He tells you to run…then you better run. Don’t cross him…unless you value your limbs. And, if you capture his attention…prey…
Mason Grant is feared for a reason afterall…the charmer and one of the kings of Fort George. A master of all that he claims, working in the shadows with split knuckles and with a monster rippling under the scarred surface. Mason will do anything to uphold the family values, reputation of who he is as builds his stone walls around him.
However, the arrival of the Etheridge princess has fueled him and he wants to play with her. She’s in his territory now…Her family has ruined any ties with his…So why now screw with the princess? Delicate, broken and a pretty thing that he could damage even more.
“That’s twice you have drawn my blood, little dove. I have buried people for lesser crimes.”
“Then maybe you should heed the warning and stay the hell away from me.”
Only…Eva has claws…they dig deep into Mason…and he enjoys the pain…
The past events, family connections and rumors are all about to collide creating a storm that’s brewing in Fort George.
“If you walk out there, you’ll leave wearing my name.”
“Or I can take the dress off and walk out in my underwear.”
Eva Etheridge isn’t going to bow down to Mason Grant, the family feud is nothing to do with her and all she wants is to distract herself from the pain of losing her parents. But, Mason is like a villain in the night…a nightmare that won’t stop all the thoughts of him touching her again…
It’s reckless. It’s a temptation. It’s feeling alive.
They shouldn’t work…a puzzle with all the wrong angles…and yet…Eva can’t deny Mason.
However, the true nightmare is lying in wait, forcing its way forward in Eva’s mind and soon a mask will slip.
Will Mason & Eva overcome the past and rule together united? Or…Will the king lose his crown…and princess?
“My kingdom. My girl.”
I didn’t know what to expect…I certainly never expected to fall so hard for these characters and the world that Mia has created!
I was intrigued from the start with Eva and fell head first for Mason! Then these two together…I was hooked!!
Eva really does develop a lot through this story and the emotions that are threaded throughout the story bring her to life even more. She is a strong female character and is more than capable of holding her own with Mason! I love that she had a bite to her character, she wasn’t weak and even turned out surprising as her mind opened up allowing the events to surface.
The man himself Mason…he’s going to send all the sexy shivers down your spine for sure. Mason really does meet his match with Eva, she is the only girl who doesn’t drape over begging him for attention. Showing a flicker of fire in her sad eyes that he can’t help but feed into her flames. Mason is loyal to his family and friends that you fear as much as him.
Eva & Mason…<3 This couple will keep you up at night…and gripping your bedsheets tighter…
I loved this couple soo much! The banter they have is second-to-none, spicy, smoking hot and throwing in a “good girl” .
Months ago, I applied for this ARC and completely forgot about it until now. This is a stalker college dark romance: a hauntingly twisted reimagining of Romeo and Juliet in which the families of the main characters are sworn enemies. At its heart is a morally grey anti-hero who falls for a black cat heroine first, and hardest. Their dynamic is electric and unpredictable, pushing both of them into a world where the lines between love, obsession, and danger are deliciously blurred. Prepare yourself for a journey filled with secrets, angst, and a darkness that will have you desperate for answers.
Eva Etheridge is the princess of her powerful family, but after her parents' tragic death, she’s treated more like a precious possession than a person. Sent straight into the lion’s den, her family's enemies’ stronghold in Fort George, to finish her studies, Eva is isolated and vulnerable. With her brother now a ghostly figure, consumed by running their grandfather’s company, Eva has never felt more alone. Surrounded by those who wish her harm simply for being an Etheridge, she battles nightmares and self-destructive urges stemming from the accident. But Eva is no pushover; she’s unafraid to push boundaries, even if it means risking everything.
Mason Grant is as unhinged as he is feared. A king of Fort George, he prowls in the shadows with split knuckles and a dangerous charm. On the surface, he’s all smooth edges, but underneath lurks a monster eager to be set free. Before Eva entered Mason’s world, he couldn’t have cared less whether she lived or died. But after one taste, he’s addicted and determined to make her his. What begins as a dangerous game of pursuit quickly evolves into something deeper, darker. Mason weaves himself into every corner of Eva’s life, intent on possessing every piece of her. His obsession spirals out of control: stalking her, slipping into her room just to unsettle her, desperate to get under her skin. But soon, unsettling her isn’t enough; he needs her completely. Mason will lie, deceive, hurt, and even kill to keep Eva as his. She’s his little Dove, and he’ll do anything to make sure she stays that way.
Eva knows she should stay far away from Mason. His obsession is both danger and salvation; he wants to cleanse the darkness from her life, even as he drags her deeper into his own. But despite every warning, Eva finds herself wanting more. The spice in this story is absolutely unhinged and utterly delicious. Mason’s relentless need to claim Eva both in and out of the bedroom will leave you hot under the collar and breathless. Honestly, it should be illegal just how much heat is woven through these pages. I loved every second!
Dark, mysterious, and intoxicating, this story will leave you craving the truth and questioning every motive. Will Eva and Mason survive the storm of secrets and betrayals, or will their families’ war destroy them both?
This book had me hooked from the very first page and kept me captivated all the way to the end! The plot twists were absolutely wild. Just when you think you’ve figured it all out, you realise you’re wrong, and I loved every minute of it!
Thank you to Mia Thorn and LoveNotes PR for sending me this book.
"There is nothing I want more than to rip that broken piece from inside her and replace it with something stronger. Mine. One that’s warm and pulsing, that answers only to me."

this book was so unexpectedly good. i did not expect to love mason the way i did. he was definitely described as a manwhore but i enjoyed how quickly he becomes quickly locked in on eva. he's all consumed. there is a little OW drama but mostly jealousy-driven. <𝟑 .ᐟ i really enjoyed how mason completely filled into his character. Thorn knew exactly how to write him and i loved how he was never anyone but himself. the way he care's for eva PTSD is honestly so refreshing to read about, and i looove how he has a soft side only she sees. especially loved i got so many new ideas for OTT scenes like putting a ring in a croissant, moving her into his house secretly, being at her beck and call, being so powerful that he can clear out a movie theater when she ignores him, and having a latte ready for her everyday. the bare minimum... he's a mix of caden king and arthur adley. two of my fav mmcs ever so i really enjoyed this! i love supporting indie authors who spend so much time on their craft!
༒︎ i would have liked to see more of his rugby sport, like maybe a match he forces her to go or their reunion but its okay. honestly it was extremely entertaining without that. ༒︎ some of the family drama/the whole twist was honestly kinda lacking. i didnt find it as interesting as i thought but i just skimmed over it

I was never her fucking prince. I’d rather be the villain who keeps her safe. Run, all you want, princess. I will catch you. Every. Single. Time.
If he leaves me now, I might just shatter. Because as much as I want Mason, I need him even more. It’s been good to live with a brain that doesn’t hurt as much.
“There is no life outside of me, princess.” He smirks. “I don’t share. Not your time, not your attention, and definitely not your smile. Now walk, or you won’t like what happens next.”
“You can’t cry about something and expect me not to do anything about it.”
Faithless Heir is the first book in the brand new series of The Heirmarked by Mia Thorn. If you like a twisted dark romance with an OTT morally grey hero who falls first and harder for a black cat heroine that is forbidden and the location is in the UK then grab it and settle in for a page turner. It's action packed, suspenseful, steamy, has a third act breakup, no cheating and ends with a hard fought HEA.
I would like to Thank Love Notes PR & Mia Thorn for my ARC and in return I voluntarily promised an honest review.
Mason Grant is the Heir to the Grant Kingdom and he would do anything to keep his family safe but his most hated rivals have just moved their princess, Eva, into his territory.
Eva Etheridge has just lost her parents and some of her mind. Her brother moved her into another college, where she is not wanted or welcomed. She's not safe and her security has doubled, but that doesn't keep her from going into enemy territory, into his club...
Mason catches a glimpse of the blue eyed princess and escorts her out, but during the traded barbs he decides she's about to become his little dove that will ruin his life.
Eva knows she must stay away from Mase, but his obsession is clearing the darkness away and she wants more, but it must be kept a secret.
Mason has a secret that will tear them apart. What happens when her memories return and she discovers just how vital his family was involved with hers?
I have SO MUCH to say but I can’t spoil anything and it’s actually making me angry because I need to scream about it.
Let me just say this: This book had me in a chokehold.
The plot twist?? EXCUSE ME??? I was sitting there like “wtf do you mean… THIS WHOLE TIME???” I had to pause and just stare into space because there’s no way I got played like that.
The characters? Perfect. No annoying side characters trying to steal the spotlight. Everyone had their place and PURPOSE.
Now let’s talk about the real problem: Mason.
Sir. You need to calm down. Actually no, don’t.
The possessiveness? Insane. The tension? Suffocating (in a good way). The way he handles her?? I was unwell.
Because tell me WHY this man is literally her remedy to her black abyss of nightmares??? Watching her sleep every night, tying her hands to the bed just to make sure she doesn’t hurt herself???
MASONNNNN MY LOVEEEEE.
And Eva?? My girl is BRATTY and I LOVED it. The back-and-forth, the power struggle, the way neither of them backs down?? I was eating it up like it was my last meal.
And the spicy scenes??? I had to physically pause and stare at the ceiling like “okay… okay… I need a second.” (Every. Single. Time)
THE BALLROOM SCENE. THE CAT AND MOUSE CHASE.
I was kicking my feet like a psycho, IN A CAR. NEXT TO MY DAD. Do you understand the level of self-control I had to maintain???
Then what happens AFTER he finds her?? Sir. SIR. You need to relax. Eva, YOU TOO.
The romance is painful, intense, messy, just everything I want. Add in the found family trope and all that delicious drama?? I was devouring every single crumb.
And now??? NOW??? You expect me to just sit here and WAIT for Thea and Kane???
I’m already sensing grumpy x sunshine and I am NOT READY.
Mia Thorn… I say this with love: You did this to me.
Thank you to Love Notes PR and Mia Thorn for the ARC.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book as I do most dark romances. This was a fast paced dark romance where we follow two characters who definitely shouldn’t be together under any circumstances but does that stop tall, dark and handsome, not a chance! He wants her and he’s going to do anything to get her.
The story follows Eva and Mason who are children of rival families. Eva’s parents have just died in a car accident, or that’s what we think, and her brother has now taken over the family and is trying navigate the new world he is now in. Eva has just transferred to Fort George and always has security around no matter where she goes. She is convinced one night to leave security behind and go to a local bar, which just so happens to be in Grant territory. Enter Mason Grant our MMC, who is ruthless predator and monster who has the face of a god. He sets his eyes on her to ruin, hurt, and untimely to make Eva his and he will stop at nothing to keep it that way.
Eva struggles with a lot of pain and turmoil from start to finish and uncovering server after average takes its tole on her. Mason becomes her crutch to lean on and she becomes his obsession. They are drawn to each-other throughout the whole book to which I loved!!
Some of the dialogue during some of the spicier scenes wasn’t for me, but after getting past those bits, the writing is very easy to read and I devoured it within a day. If a book can do that then it automatically gets a 4 star. I do also wish we did see some more of their chemistry and relationship grow as I found we went from a to z very quickly. However, for a mafia romance this was a 4 ⭐ read and I am really excited for the next one!
Here are some of tropes you see within this book:
💰 Billionaire x Crime 🖤 Black Cat Good Girl x Hothead Antihero 📚 College Dark Romance 🛞 Biker Obsessed MMC 💀 Touch her and Meet God 🥰 Enemies-to-Lovers 🤭 Possessive Forbidden Love
I do want to preface by saying Mia has become a dear friend of mine and I am now her PA but, with that being said I beta read Faithless Heir BEFORE those things happened. I do content creation and she messaged me because of another author friend of hers I did work for and requested a graphic made and then asked me to beta read for her. It was a while after I finished that we became friends so I do not think my opinion is biased since I fell in love with her writing and the story before hand. Still, I'll leave this disclaimer. 🖤
Due to health issues I don't read much anymore, I used to read about one book a day/night and now I read one maybe every few months as it irritates my head. However, something told me I was going to enjoy this book so I agreed to beta it and I devoured it in one sitting like usual. I pushed through my headache because I needed to finish. 😅
First of all, I was blown away by this being Mia's debut. It is a bit lighter in terms of dark romance but, it is still a dark romance. Mason is morally grey, he's OTT, obsessive, posessive. He does some *light* stalking and he's an overall alphahole. Eva is meant to be his family's biggest enemy and yet he can't seem to leave her alone. Eva is a broken black cat who is still head strong despite her trauma and she pushes back against Mason, determined to not let him stomp all over her yet they end up entangled anyways.
I adored Eva's character, she was raw, real and despite being broken and suffering trauma, she was fiery and strong. And who doesn't love an mmc who would burn the world down for his woman? Who doesn't believe in love, has never kissed before because it's too 'intimate' but ultimately meets his match in the fmc and breaks every rule he set because of her?
I typically catch the big reveal/twist in books easily and early on yet I remember messaging Mia after finishing and being like "girl wtf?!" because I didn't see it coming. I was thrown way off balance by the twists and those stories always live in my brain forever since they're not common for me.
[Slight spoiler - if you enjoyed the ladel scene, you're welcome. I remember telling her I was angry because in the beta read it was cut short before anything good happened and I told her that was some BS and she said "well I did originally write it, I just cut it out cause it seemed like too much sex" and I made her put it back. *bow at my feet in thanks.* 🤭]
Anyways, the pacing, the characters, the story and twists - all so perfectly done. I was constantly giggling over Mason's antics and the banter between him and Eva. Mia has a way of drawing you in quickly and keeping you hooked and wanting more. I know she has so much potential and I cannot recommend enough giving F.H a shot and supporting a baby debut author. 🫶 You won't be disappointed. And she'll probably send Mason for me if she ever finds out I left this. Heh he.
What to expect: 🖤 Billionaire Heiress x Mafia Heir 🥀 Virgin FMC ♟️ Broken Black Cat x Morally Grey Biker 🖤 Trauma/Healing 🥀 Good Girl x Bad Boy ♟️ Forbidden Enemies to Lovers 🖤 Touch Her, Meet God
Microtropes: ♟️ Innappropriate ladel use 🥀 He's never kissed 🖤 He doesn't believe in love ♟️ He rides his bike, while she rides him
This book had me hooked from the very beginning. The enemies to lovers tension between Mason and Eva starts strong and only keeps getting better as the story unfolds. Add rival families into the mix, and it becomes exactly the kind of chaotic, intense dynamic I absolutely love. I’m always weak for a good rival-family enemies to lovers romance, and this delivered perfectly. And Mason? Truly, the unhinged king of Fort. When I say obsessive MMC, I mean extremely obsessive. The “I’ll break his hand just for touching you” energy, and they weren’t even dating yet, already told me what kind of ride this was going to be. He’s jealous, extreme, boundaryless, unpredictable, and completely obsessive when it comes to Eva, but at the same time there’s a softness in the way he protects her and refuses to let anyone else hurt her. Even when he hated her, he never let anyone else touch what was his toxic? yes. Did I love it? absolutely. And the fact that he calls her little dove just made everything worse (in the best way).
Eva’s character added another emotional layer to the story. The trauma she carries after her parents’ death shapes so much of her journey, and watching her navigate that grief while growing closer to Mason made their relationship feel even more intense and meaningful. I also really enjoyed the college setting and the friend circles. They added to that classic dark college romance atmosphere and made the story feel immersive from start to finish. And that plot twist + climax? I genuinely did not see that coming.
This story pulled me in completely and made me feel like I was right there with them the entire time. Definitely an infinite reread for me. I love a good rival-family enemies-to-lovers story, and this one delivered everything I wanted🖤✨
"Because to love - real love - is not to let go. I was never her f**king prince. I'd rather be the villain who keeps her"
WHAT DID I JUST READ?!? And I mean that in the BEST way possible. I could not put this book down. Mason Grant...um I'M OBSESSED.
Tropes: 🖤Billionaire x Crime 🖤Black Cat Good Girl x Hothead Antihero 🖤College Dark Romance 🖤Biker Obsessed MMC 🖤"Touch her and ☠️” 🖤Enemies-to-Lovers 🖤Possessive Forbidden Love
Mason Grant and Eva Etheridge could not be more different. Their families are enemies, but once they lay eyes on each other they consume each others every thought and soul. Eva knows the kind of man Mason is, but she can't seem to stay away. Mason becomes obsessed and possessive over Eva and even resorts to light stalking/breaking and entering. But somehow, Eva manages to crack through Mason's tough exterior and he softens, only, when it comes to her. Eva is serioulsy struggling after the recent tragedy of losing her parents and Mason is the only one who has been able to quiet Eva's nightmares surrounding her parents death. Her mind is blocking out some of the events from that night, but once she regains her memories and uncovers the secrets Mason has been keeping, will she be able to forgive him?
The banter and chemistry between Eva and Mason was off the charts. This was a fast paced dark romance with a morally gray/black MMC you can't help but love. And let's not forget Eva. Her family is keeping things from her, she is described as being "caged", but she manages to find her backbone when it matters most.
Faithless Heir is the first book in The Heirmarked series and I can NOT wait Thea & Kane's story!

I ate this book up like it was no tomorrow, the plot, back and forth, and suspense had me at the edge of seat wanting more especially the last 15% had me going crazy cause the twists and turns were epic. Mason and Eva love story is filled with intense emotions, spicy, and tension. I love them so much
Eva my shayla I love her so much, my girl has been through it these last couple of months with being an accident with her family and her parents dying and she’s struggling. Eva is the billionaire princess of her very powerful family, Eva growth throughout the book was amazing plus her friendship with Caden, Thea, and Penny it was so good to see them together they make Eva happy. Eva is such a great fmc and her story pulled me in so much cause there’s just something special about her
Eva and Mason families are rivals and now that Eva is attending a school in the enemy’s territory she feels strong emotions towards Mason. These two can’t seem to stay away from each other even though they tried really hard to. These two can’t twists and secrets in this book was amazing I couldn’t get enough. Mason obsession with Eva is very strong and intense
Mason is very unhinged and a walking red flag but who caressss I obviously don’t loll. I loved him very much, Mason family runs Fort George and he’s a predator who would anything to make sure he’s feared. He’s such an ahole and tracks Eva plus he’s a meanie to his mom’s dog like now is not the time Mason. And he’s friends!? Oh my I just know they’re gonna ruin me
The chemistry between Eva and Mason is chef kiss, I love their toxicity and his obsession even though he hates her family. I can’t wait for more of this series it’s starting off so good and I am excited for the next book the side characters really intrigued me real bad and I hope Caden gets a book. This book deals with some heavy topics so please check TW!
Thank You So Much for giving me this incredible arc !💐🖤
I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader for this book and I am still not over it. Honestly… where do I even begin?!
From the VERY first page, this book doesn’t just pull you in it consumes you. It grabs hold and refuses to let go. I’m talking heart-racing, pulse-pounding, “just one more chapter” at 2am kind of obsession. Sleep? Irrelevant. Responsibilities? Forgotten. This book had me completely under its control.
And Mason… Mason is not just a character, he’s an experience. Dark. Dangerous. Ruthlessly possessive. The kind of man who doesn’t ask—he takes. An Italian Mafia man with that intense, all-consuming energy that makes you question your sanity for loving him as much as you do. He’s toxic in the most addictive way, and I was absolutely feral for every single scene he was in.
Then there’s Eva… and wow. She’s not just your typical FMC. She’s layered, broken, strong, and hiding more than she lets the world see. Watching her try to hold it together while everything threatens to unravel? It hits hard. You feel her.
But together? They are chaos. Beautiful, destructive chaos. The tension is suffocating. The chemistry is explosive. Every interaction feels like it could either end in a kiss… or total destruction. And honestly? You don’t even know which one you want more.
This book is packed with: • Obsession that borders on dangerous • Possessiveness that will have you screaming • Tension so thick you could cut it • Dark, addictive romance • Forbidden, messy, all-consuming love • Enemies to lovers done RIGHT
Wow… this story completely consumed me. From the very first chapter I was hooked, and I ended up devouring the entire book in one sitting because there was absolutely no way I could stop.
Every chapter brought a new wave of emotion, surprise, or tension. I felt like I was constantly bracing myself for what might happen next—and I loved every second of it.
The writing is incredibly immersive. It genuinely felt like I was standing right beside the characters, experiencing everything with them. There was one reveal in particular that completely shocked me. I actually had to pause for a moment to process it because I never saw it coming.
Mason has officially earned a place on my all-time favorites list. His intense, all-consuming nature was everything, and honestly, now I’m slightly disappointed that someone like him doesn’t exist in real life. Eva, on the other hand, hides her pain behind a convincing front—but the cracks are there. Mason is the one person who truly sees through it.
Their connection feels natural because they reflect each other’s wounds, finding comfort and healing in that shared brokenness.
The chemistry between them is undeniable—full of heat, tension, and that addictive push-and-pull dynamic. I especially loved that Eva never made things easy for him and constantly kept him on his toes.
Mia… what should I say about her? She stunned me and left me speechless with her debut book. She easily became one of my top favorite authors. She’s an amazing writer and an incredible human being. I truly love being part of her team.
I’m so grateful I got the chance to experience this story early, and I’m already counting down the days until the next one.
Faithless Heir by Mia Thorn was phenomenal! From what I know, this is Mia's debut novel. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. Sometimes people are just hit or miss, and I totally went in blind with this author and this book. I did a random sign-up for an ARC through a Facebook group. The first time I've done something like that. Let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed. I have found a new author and series that I am seriously thrilled about... I immediately applied for the permanent ARC team and the Street team, because I want to be part of the journey. I'm really hoping I can be a part of both, but if not, I will gladly sign up through Mia's PR people. Congratulations on your upcoming release, Mia. You did amazing!
Mason and Eva will now forever be part of my brain, heart, and soul... I fell in love with them almost immediately, and their relationship felt so good and so right. I love a good dark romance, but sometimes things can go a little too far. You never know what to expect. However, this book was the perfect dark romance. Every action made perfect sense to me, and I fully supported all of them. I'm really excited for the upcoming books in the series. Three words... Kane and Thea! Yes, please. I'm already in love with Kane, and that is a slight problem, seeing as I don't have his book in my hands yet. I'm actually quite offended. I'll have to be patient, but truthfully, patience is NOT my strong suit. Not even close. I seriously can't wait for the continuation of this series. I'm freaking thrilled!
