Balancing Act

Rate this book
A slow-burn queer romance about the complicated beauty of rebuilding your life from the middle.

When ex-Olympian Jamie Lyons walked away from the gymnastics world, it wasn’t by choice, but by a tragic diagnosis that solidified her decision to disappear from the public eye. For seven years, she’s kept her distance from the spotlight and stayed far from the headlines that once defined her. Now, as a favor to an old friend, Jamie is back, and a chance encounter at a party sets off a series of events that makes her question everything. When the life she left behind starts to blur with the one she’s creating, Jamie must decide if she’s finally ready to stop running.

Beth Walsh is no stranger to heartbreak. After her marriage fell apart, she’s spent years piecing herself back together while raising her daughter, Lily—a fiercely driven, sometimes turbulent teenager. Now, after a year-long national art tour, Beth has returned, determined to find her footing again and figure out what happiness looks like for her. But when her path crosses with an alluring stranger, everything she thought she knew is flipped upside down. Beth finds herself navigating the delicate balance between life, love, and being a parent, while caught between the future she’s building and the past she’s never quite been able to let go of.

With love, ambition, and identity colliding at full force, Balancing Act is a rich, emotional story about letting go, holding on, and finding your footing when everything feels like it’s shifting beneath you.

Wonderful debut! I was so excited when I saw that this story was in audio narrated by the amazing Quinn Riley and then found out book 2 was coming out soon and I jumped on the audiobook! I enjoyed the story. Beth and Jaime figuring out what they wanted and then figuring out how they wanted their relationship to be and grow. I loved Lily and later Wren was so awkward and sweet. Sarah took a bit to grow on me but grow she did and she was such a powerhouse as well as a grounding presence and I can’t wait to see how she gets her hea! Recommend!
