Being left to fend for himself in one of the most desolate regions of the US isn't the worst thing that's ever happened to Kilo Nine, but it was up there. Worse was the fact that all his training relied on the support and massive resources of the paramilitary group he once worked for. And they weren't the only ones now hunting him. An impossible monster has found and crippled him just when he needed to be most mobile.
His only saving grace is this random group of weirdo civilians who seem to be as dangerous as they are delusional. They speak of cryptids and magic in the same breath as social media stars and the frankly fantastic food prepared by one of their team.
He only knows one thing for certain - he has to end this cat and mouse game with his former employers one way or another.
