in high school there was this girl named kyra who wasnt the greatest person in the world and so i fear i started this book out somewhat biased
im sorry
pettiness is sometimes difficult to shed
but its okay i got over it eventually
PLOT REMARKS: This book was, as Sabrina Carpenter and my math professor like to say, short and sweet. I think I finished it in like two hours? The plot progresses insanely quickly, though unfortunately on the flip side, it makes everything kind of shallow and light. Such a vibes read, hence the high rating. The thing that threw me off, though, was just how convenient things were. Also, the romance itself developed stupid fast. There was no shortage of adorable moments that make you curse your stupid single life, though the actual making of those moments left a lot to be desired, as there weren't many deep, meaningful conversations. Kinda insta-love? I think the furthest they ever got was Kyra talking about her parents. It's not even just emotional conversations... The actual objective, logistical shit that every couple needs to know? For fuck's sake, they never figured out the state of their bank account. Joint? Individual? I fear the world will never know. Bottom line is, I enjoyed this book. And I think you will too, if it's what you're looking for. If not, then you're going to fucking hate this book.
also someone needs to tell these fuckers (pun intended) that not all problems can be solved with s*x
CHARACTERS: KYRA: Other than her terrible luck sharing names with unfortunate individuals, she's a pretty decent person. Kind of like that one lady in your air conditioned building with a corner office. Her personality consists of ambition and wanting her parents' approval. Which makes for a pretty bland person to read about. I will say, though, I have to give her credit for the business plan. It's a good idea with relatively high potential, which made the parents' anger even more unreasonable and bitchy. though i am kinda pissed we never saw the success of the business ETHAN: On the flip side, his entire personality is obsessing over Kyra and procrastinating shit that should NOT BE PROCRASTINATED. You thought your procrastinating issue was bad? This fucking man just... ignored his business. Should we open a new shop? Should we not? Yeah that's tomorrow Ethan's problem!!! You'd think that being a successful business owner would teach him to not procrastinating shit that's integral to the success of him and his brother, but I digress.
i need yall to picture the most rom com of all 2000s rom coms. this is that.

If you’re ever in the mood for a hallmark movie in book form, look no further than Sophie Sullivan!
Kyra Grand has a dream, and that dream is not a life spent working at Grand Babies, her family’s business. On New Year’s Eve, Kyra decides to finally do something about it and gives her family her notice. As expected, it does not go well. Ethan Reynolds is the owner of Side Tap, a local brewery, and, coincidentally, her brother Will’s best friend. When Kyra shows up at Side Tap just before midnight on New Year’s Eve, Ethan believes its fate. Both have admired each other from afar and with a new year comes new beginnings. The two spend the next couple of days wrapped up in each other, no strings attached (despite what Ethan wants). But fate, sometimes, has other plans. When a life changing event happens to the two of them, they must quickly figure out how to navigate this new future together - for better or for worse.
I can always count on Sophie Sullivan for a cute and emotional romcom! This one was especially exciting to read because it featured characters from a couple of her other books. Seeing the cameos of Will, Lexi, Maisie, and Nick made me want to go back and reread Can’t Help Falling in Love and You Make It Feel Like Christmas.
This was a slow-paced read, but the relationship between Ethan and Kyra moved very quickly (when you read it, you’ll find out why!). I loved that the two were friends before they fell in love, but I wanted to see a little bit more of that friendship! I think their shared history would have added so much depth to the story and their relationship.
That said, I do love when a book features the “he fell first” trope. From the start, it was clear that Ethan did, in fact, fall first and it took Kyra a little while to catch up. I appreciated how supportive of Kyra’s business Ethan was from the start and how steadfast he was. And I loved how Kyra’s store was inspired by Rose Apothecary from Schitt’s Creek.
All in all, this was a fun read with fireworks displayed inside and out (I mean, have you seen that beautiful cover?)!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Griffin for the ARC!
Kyra is ready to carve a life for herself and chase her dreams. It’s hard to break away from everything you’ve ever known. It takes guts and tenacity — and a few faithful cheerleaders in your corner. Instead of supporting her decision, Kyra’s family perceives her plans as a rejection of their love and provision. As Kyra follows her heart, she finds that it’s been irrevocably attached to another, completely unexpected heart. After a ‘just for tonight’ encounter with her brother’s best friend, Ethan and Kyra find they’re now more connected than ever and the surprises just keep coming!
Sophie Sullivan is the master of gentle romance where the heat is perfectly balanced by the sweet. She makes me care about her characters as if they’re real people. And the emotional investment pays off — I squealed, I cried, and I smiled like a fool at my Kindle screen for hours. The story’s pacing gently eases you in the lives of Kyra and Ethan right before the world they’ve known gets flipped on its head. Even with great pacing, I did struggle to form a connection to the characters at first. However, as the story picks up I began to see how similar Kyra and I are — that emotional connection grounded me and kept me turning page after page. And while emotional connection isn’t necessary for a book to be considered well written, it absolutely deepens the reading experience.
This book took the ‘he falls first’ and ‘brother’s best friend’ tropes and blended them perfectly. Without giving too much away, the surprises keep the story moving as the stakes are raised and things become more serious. Meet Me at Midnight is a great fit for contemporary romance readers who want the emotions of a book to sink deeply into their souls — for readers who love surprise relationships, men who are emotionally honest and available, and who love forehead kisses.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Griffin for the exclusive early access to read and review and to Sophie Sullivan for another fantastic story!
"Meet Me at Midnight" is a charming and heartfelt romance filled with chemistry and emotional growth, embodying the classic brother's best friend theme. Sophie Sullivan weaves a sweet story about taking chances and embracing change while navigating love's surprises.
Kyra Grand starts the new year resolved to chase her dreams beyond the family business, and I immediately connected with her journey for independence. She's a relatable heroine balancing family expectations with her ambitions, showing impressive growth throughout the book.
Ethan Reynolds is equally endearing. Though he appears laid-back, he grapples with his own fears about commitment and the potential impact on his important relationships. His friendship with Kyra's brother adds a compelling layer of tension to their romance.
The chemistry between Kyra and Ethan is palpable from the start, and their transition from a one-night stand to something deeper feels natural. I appreciated that their relationship goes beyond mere attraction; they genuinely support and challenge each other to confront their fears.
The novel's emotional depth is a standout aspect. It explores themes of family expectations, personal identity, and trust. An unexpected twist brings Kyra and Ethan closer, pushing them to reconsider their paths.
While the pacing occasionally slows, and some communication gaps between characters are noticeable, the strong character development and satisfying romance make it easy to overlook these issues.
Overall, "Meet Me at Midnight" is a warm romance filled with lovable characters and genuine emotion. Fans of brother's best friend stories and character-driven contemporary romances will find much to enjoy here.

I am actually in the minority because I genuinely LOVE accidental pregnancy romances. When they are done right, they can be emotional, intimate, vulnerable, and honestly so beautiful. But they are also one of the hardest tropes to pull off successfully because the pacing and emotional development have to really work. Unfortunately, that was the biggest issue for me with this book.
The biggest problem is that the majority of the book takes place during the FIRST trimester of the pregnancy, which made the pacing feel incredibly slow. Realistically, not a lot is happening at that stage, so it ends up feeling repetitive with a lot of them simply trying to navigate being together and figuring things out as basically strangers after a one night stand. I kept waiting for the story to really evolve or deepen emotionally, but it never did and that was disappointing.
I also really did not like the third act breakup/misunderstanding. I understand romance books need conflict and drama, but this one felt so unnecessary and over the top that it honestly frustrated me more than anything. It felt inserted simply because the book needed a conflict point rather than because it naturally fit the story or characters.
I do appreciate what Sophie Sullivan was trying to do here, and I have enjoyed some of her other books before, which honestly made this even more disappointing for me. I wanted to love this because the trope is so up my alley, but sadly this one just did not work for me the way I hoped it would.

This is the third book I have read from Sophie Sullivan. I like how she writes about flawed people because that is exactly what all of us are. We are all striving trying to be the best that we can be and so are the characters wihin this book. Kyra Grand comes from a family who has own their own business and is now on the 3rd generation to run, "Grand Babies." Kyra has always liked working there but she wants to strike out on her own and run her own business but when she tells her family that are not approving of her decision.
Her brother, Will has a best friend since childhood, Ethan who along with his brother owns 2 breweries/bar/restaurants and of course Ethan has know Will's sister, Kyra all his life but lately he has become more aware of her in a less friends way and much more in a romantic way.
When Kyra's family isn't supported of her new venture she gets to talking with Ethan about it and he is very supportive and one night after being stuck in a snow storm they get stranded and get to spend a few days together and it turns to them having sex but both appearing to just leave it at that and go on behaving as friends, but Ethan has fallen for Kyra. For awhile Ethan is the only person supportive of Kyra's new business venture and the only one she can talk to about her dreams and aspirations.
Well the tirals and tribulations go on from there and they have to work their way towards or away from each other and live the dreams they want to pursue. It is a fun ride seeing how they navigate forward. There is hot sex and romance and family drama. I really enjoyed this book.

Meet Me at Midnight is a warm and emotionally engaging rom-com that beautifully balances humor, vulnerability, romantic tension, and heartfelt character growth. Sophie Sullivan crafts a story filled with charm, emotional sincerity, and relatable relationship dynamics, creating a romance that feels both comforting and deeply immersive.
What makes the novel especially compelling is the chemistry between Kyra and Ethan and the emotional complexity surrounding their relationship. The mix of friendship history, unexpected complications, and personal ambitions creates natural tension while allowing the romance to develop in a way that feels authentic and emotionally satisfying. Beneath the playful and romantic moments lies a thoughtful exploration of love, timing, personal growth, and taking risks for happiness.
The emotional atmosphere throughout the story feels uplifting and genuine. The balance between humor, romantic tension, family dynamics, and emotional vulnerability keeps the narrative engaging from beginning to end. Sophie Sullivan captures emotional intimacy and character driven storytelling with warmth and confidence, making the reading experience feel heartfelt and memorable.
Sweet, charming, and emotionally rewarding, Meet Me at Midnight is a delightful contemporary romance that will strongly resonate with readers who enjoy heartfelt rom-coms, friends to lovers tension, emotionally driven relationships, and uplifting storytelling.
I don’t have enough time to list all the things I absolutely loved about this book! If you want a novel that truly embodies love and partnership without all the heavy drama and third-act breakup, pickup this book.
Kyra and Ethan were absolutely perfect for each other. I love how he fell first and had been pinning over her for year. I loved that he respected her and her desire to carve her own path in life. He adjusted quickly to what happens in the novel, and he does everything he can to show Kyra how far his love goes.
Kyra was so strong. She felt older than her 24/25 years, and I loved how she thought things through, went with the flow, and didn’t get discouraged when her own family didn’t believe in her. She had her own strength and Ethan’s encouragement.
This book was too cute. I’m so happy there was no third act breakup. I actually loved that these two were just perfect for each other. Enough happens to keep you entranced in the story, but this is also perfect when you just need a cute story. As someone with a stressful job, this is just what I needed.

Sophie Sullivan’s Meet Me at Midnight explores the complexities of family expectations and the courage it takes to choose a different path. After Kyra Grand resigns from her role in the family business, she faces painful rejection from her parents, even as her siblings step up to support her. An unexpected connection with her brother’s best friend, Ethan, brings new challenges and unexpected consequences. The story shines in its portrayal of family dynamics and emotional growth. Kyra’s journey is heartfelt, and the relationships around her are drawn with warmth and authenticity. However, the heavy use of profanity throughout the book didn’t resonate with me personally and distracted from the emotional depth of the story. Without that element, this could be an even more charming and accessible read. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All comments and opinions are my own.
Met Me at Midnight by Sophie Sullivan is a heartfelt, slow burn romance that leans into second chances, emotional growth, and the kind of connection that sneaks up on you when you least expect it. The story follows two people who are both carrying past regrets and learning how to move forward while still figuring out what they want from life and love.
Sullivan does a nice job balancing tenderness with real emotional weight, giving both characters space to feel grounded and relatable. The chemistry builds steadily rather than instantly, which makes their moments together feel earned and genuine. At its core, this is a story about timing, healing, and choosing yourself while still being open to love.
A cozy, emotional read that will likely appeal to readers who enjoy character driven romance with heart and a touch of hope.
This romance novel is about Kyra, who is leaving behind her families legacy to follow her own dreams. Her parents are unsupportive and her siblings are useless in the “be there for your sister” department.
She has a one night stand with her brothers best friend Ethan. Who unbeknownst to Kyra, already had feelings for her before they got together.
The insta love in this book was cute, but the dialogue left me wanting. Everyone spoke the same so I couldn’t get into the moment. The emotional pieces were written like an observer instead of someone in the moment.
I did like Kyra’s ability to stick to her beliefs and the way she confronted the books challenges . Ethan’s Golden retriever energy is also admirable .
I really enjoyed her other series (Rock Bottom Love) but this one had a different feel for me. Overall a straightforward and HEA read.
Kyra Grand is the youngest daughter of a very successful family. Their family business has made them famous in Seattle. She gets to work with her parents and siblings every day. Sounds like a dream, just not the one Kyra wants. Ethan Reynolds is Kyra’s big brother’s best friend who has a reputation of never settling down with one woman. Once they spend New Year’s Eve together, everything changes and they have to navigate the circumstances of their new lives together. I received this book as an ARC and while I think this story and book definitely have potential, it fell a little flat for me. I didn’t feel super connected to the characters and I felt the dialogue was cheesy and didn’t flow well. The bones of the story are good and the main characters are likeable. I thought the ending was nice and I was happy with how they wrapped everything up.
I thought this book was just ok. This is your typical feel good read with likable characters. It started off pretty strong but I thought it dragged a little in the middle. Then came the "breakup/misunderstanding" and I thought that was ridiculously stupid. Can we just skip this unnecessary drama in romance novels please? The ending, though, wrapped everything up and I enjoyed that part. Solid 3 star read.
In Meet Me at Midnight, a one night stand between "friends" ends up with an unexpected surprise. I don't want to give it all away but the rest of the book explores Ethan and Kyra's relationship and we get a front row seat to their love story.
Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Griffin for this ARC.
*arc review* Honestly, this was a bit of a miss. I don’t mind an accidental pregnancy story and honestly Kyra and Ethan were fine characters. The pacing was a bit off considering she got pregnant in the beginning, was early pregnant for 90% of the book, and we only got 1 birth announcement and 1 scene with the child in the last 10%.
I honestly just could not get past my absolute disdain for Kira’s parents. In my review of Will’s book, I said their actions were unforgivable to me- so imagine my unpleasant surprise when I realized we had to deal with them again. No contact IS an acceptable thing these days and I wish all the siblings went that route.
Thank you St Martin’s Press for the invite to read this book early in an exchange of an honest review
4.5 Ethan is what book boyfriends should be! This man not only steps up but walks along Kyra through some hard times! Though we didn’t get a huge picture of their foundation you do get their bond from where the books starts! You see their friendship and I loved their chemistry.
I didn’t read any of the books in the series before this one and I am going to go back because I am intrigued, but I was able to love and enjoy the book regardless and I love when you have a series you can jump into and still feel apart of it all!
There are some places where pacing felt fast but it all got and kept the book from being drawn out! A very enjoyable book and I’m a sucker for a surprise….!

I received a free, advance copy of this book and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.
An unexpected one night stand turns this rom com leads to hilarious events. A new year and a questionable decision lead a female to sleep with her brother’s best friend. Thins will get complicated as they realized it was more than just a night as feelings will come to surface. Will they be able to fight the feeling or will they ggive in? It’s an amusing read.
Whew, this book didn’t do it for me. There was not enough chemistry between Kyra and Ethan, so everything else just felt unrealistic. The marriage was not believable as a result, even with the whole “honorable” thing. The pacing was rushed but also slow. The conflicts, especially with Kyra’s parents, was so unrealistic and felt forced for the sake of having a conflict. And what character development? Ultimately giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because I was able to at least finish it.
I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Meet me at Midnight by Sophie Sullivan is a contemporary romance. The writing was good and the plot of the book is tried and true one. The accidental pregnancy Krya is trying to break away from the family business and start her own. Ethan is her brother’s best friend. They get together and oops she is pregnant. They marry to the disapproval of her parents which is the big tension in the book. The story was good and so was the writing – the family situation did seem a little forced but overall, an enjoyable book.
Sophie Sullivan just keeps proving why she is one of my favorite romance authors. Kyra and Ethan are strong characters who compliment each other so well. Kyra's complex family + business dynamics made for tense drama. Ethan's steadiness and support of Kyra's dreams and were ((chef's kiss)). There are multiple tropes at play here and all just work.
Thank you St. Martin's Press for the eARC. All opinions are my own.
A forced marriage/baby trope romance for a 24-year-old in the year of our lord 2026 is a choice. I didn't like this as much as the others in the series, and the parents were obnoxious and the communication was terrible (and not entirely resolved?). Also "opening a different store than the other store your rich family owns" is not that big of a rebellion. But these people are nice and it was a fun way to end the series.
Thanks for the ARC NetGalley. Cute and quick moving, this was just a nice feel good romance that didn't think too hard. I hadn't read the description but read based on the author so I was a little surprised with the baby turn of events and disappointed that abortion wasn't even represented as an option, but it didn't get too heavy on the pregnancy which was good for me. Could have had a bit more focus on their relationship but overall a nice read.
I just loved Kyra & Ethan. Accidental Pregnancy, She is the youngest sister to his best friend. They opt to get married before sharing the news about the pregnancy thinking it s the best way to get everyone on board. Force proximity., brings then together and a beautiful romance is born.
Nice, fast pace read.
Thank you St Martin's Press , the author and NetGalley for the advance copy.
Meet Me at Midnight is a sweet, emotionally rich romance with plenty of chemistry and heart. Kyra and Ethan’s brother’s-best-friend romance feels natural and genuine, with both characters navigating dreams, family expectations, and unexpected changes. Warm, heartfelt, and full of swoony moments, this is a comforting romance that leaves you smiling.
Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the eARC!
"Meet Me at Midnight" was an enjoyable read that I finished in just one day. I liked the characters and the way they grew throughout the story, especially Ethan and Kyra.
The found-family dynamic was one of my favorite aspects of the book, and the touch of miscommunication added some entertaining moments.
While it wasn't a story that completely captivated me, I still had a good time following these characters and their journey.
This book is really cute, just overall didn’t end up being what I look for in a romance. I enjoy the slow burn, angst, will they/wont they, and this book is more catered to appreciators of insta-love and familial drama in romance.
