The first part of Ruin Me: Secret Seduction, a five part series by CJ Thomas.
Kim Vogel’s life is easy. She has a great family, a world class education in what she loves to do, friends who support her no matter what and she couldn’t ask for anything more. Sure, she has to work hard, but that’s fine by her. Best friend, Vi, thinks she’s missing out in the relationship department but Kim begs to differ, keeping to herself and remaining a virgin all through college.
With graduation day just around the corner, she’s excited for what the future holds. And she’s anxiously awaiting the arrival of her parents to show them the life she’s created with their distant support. But a life changing call from her mom leaves her in limbo, unable to figure out how to go on, or how to help them when they’ve given her so much.
Jackson Morgan believes his life is perfect. His little sister, Liv, is one of his best friends, he owns his own company which comfortably provides for him everything he wants and plenty he doesn’t. Liv encourages him to settle down and create the perfect family like she has, but he’s riding the wave of success and is happier with relationships that last no more than three dates.
His conversation with Liv works its way into his personal life and decides to take a risk there, rather than just in his professional life. So when his path crosses with Kim’s at this turning point for both of them, neither of them see what’s coming or what it can mean for their futures. But each holds the key to the other’s happiness, if only they can see past their own insecurities and fears.
== > Please note that this story ends on a cliffhanger and parts 2-5 will be released two weeks apart.

Kim Vogel's parents had paid for her college education so that she wouldn't graduate with tons of bills. Kim had wanted to be an artist and she is struggling but making just enough with the help of her part time job. Now after a phone call from her mother with some bad news Kim needs to find a way to make money, fast.
The first part of a five part e-serial Ruin Me is just enough to give the reader a taste of the story and the characters involved. Kim and her have come up with a plan to raise the money Kim's parents need while Kim has also met a hot guy at her job working at the gym.
The writing in here was good and the story was just starting to get going when suddenly it's over. I was expecting a bit more when it came to the sexy side of things but we find Kim is a virgin so there's nothing in the story at this point so far. To me it seemed kind of obvious where the story will probably go from this point but who knows, perhaps I could be wrong.
Frankly, characters and plot just don't get much worse than this. I'm reviewing the entire series here- be warned!
What's It About?
At first, the whole plot centers around a chick with a mom diagnosed with cancer and feeling guilty over her parents spending their savings on her college. So, she and her roommate decide to auction off her virginity so she can help fund the medical expenses. Meanwhile, we've already met the billionaire playboy, Jackson, that wants to take her out and loves that she doesn't appear to give two shits about his money or charms. Following the auction, it becomes about a series of extravagant dates and sex scenes between her and Jackson and the mom's recovery.
^Trite, but fine enough. ^
What Good About This Book?
Uuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhmmmm?!? *crickets chirping..... Crickets chirping... Crickets still chirping...Even the crickets give up*
What's Wrong With This Book?
Basically, everything.
• Billionaire that's supposed to be alpha male, but grovels, pleads, begs, changes himself, bends over backwards, etc to become the styrofoam guy this chick clearly wants.
• Female Mc that's hypocritical, self-centered, do-gooder, dumb ass. Some of the shit she says just makes me want to take an eraser to her... How's someone offering you their jet to get to your cancerous mom equal someone throwing money at you; it's called caring and offering you what they have, you dumb bitch. I was sickened by her attitude about money, especially considering she SOLD her GD virginity to the person she's degrading about money.
• Female Mc that asks the same internal questions over and over and over and over and over and over , but then just decides not to ask them aloud.
• Repetitive bullshit lines like don't be afraid of me, trust me, you're so beautiful, hiding behind money, she doesn't want me for my money, my figure is boyish, blah blah.
• Childish voices.
• More thought and scene description than dialogue, and it's the most boring shit ever.
• I swear to you these are the LONGEST & most tediously boring sex scenes I've ever read. This is about as hot as a sub zero fridge!
• Cheesy parent scenes that take up a forth of the book and add nothing to the story not plot.
• Sudden transition from not thinking a relationship will work, that you don't trust the person, are too different from the person, need to focus elsewhere in life, etc -to- 'oh my Gawd I'm in love.' There was nada to explain or even prompt this transition either.
I could go on, but suffice to say that you can easily find every single element that typically irritates most readers in this book.
Dnf I will be honest I only made one chapter and a few pages into the next chapter. What killed it for me was the first chapter with the h getting into detail about her fashion style for her last senior party. Long story short the party was uneventful and the only point to the party was to fill space. Then we move in to the second chapter. I was confused and wasn't sure what was even happening. Guess what? It was now the H's pov. No warning at the top of the chapter. Nothing! Sorry but I made up my mind I was not about to spend an entire book not to mention series trying to guess whose pov each chapter is in. The story might be great but I highly doubt it based on the first chapter. Not for me!
Kim Vogel and Vi her best friend and roommate, were days away from graduation. When she received devastating news. Her mom has breast cancer, and it's aggressive. So, the doctors at the best hospital in Minneapolis are treating her. It turned out her parents had known for a while. But didn't want to pull her away from her finals and her graduation prepping. Once they knew something for sure, then they would call. However, she was in a bad way. The chemo was kicking her butt. And, her spirit was scarily low.
That is what gave Kim’s dad pause. If his wife knew he was calling Kim she would not be happy, but his fear for her mental health outweighed the anger, she might have. Turns out her mom was a little upset but so happy. She knew about the cancer, so there were no secrets. It relieved them but wigged her out. Especially, when they wouldn’t let her go to them. Thank goodness Vi was with her because she had a crying session and she never cried. But, this broke her.
She started talking to Vi about the financial burden this was going to put on them. She needed to figure out a way to help them with the bills mounting up. Vi tells her that is what medical insurance is for. But, Kim tells her they don't have any. Vi said they needed to have an idea list to gain funds for them. But, most would not work at least, not for the money they will need. Vi had a doozy up her sleeve that would but might not fly for Kim.
She holds her Virginity like a gift to give. And yet, millionaires and billionaires would pay thousands and some millions to be the ones to take it. However, it was a huge sacrifice to give up after guarding it for so long. Kim couldn't believe she knew about such an event. It had been Trent(Vi's brother) her brother who had told her. Because the woman who hosted them approached Trent about having it at his bar. If she was interested they could talk to him... Vi knew a guy for sure would pay, just for a date with her. That would be Jackson Morgan.
This was not the story I was expecting. I liked it until the end. Because it's not an ending, there’s nothing. No follow-up. It leaves so much undone. Do they stay together, or do they marry? And, what about the daughter? It is an emotional roller coaster, it's it has some very funny sections, there’s a terminal illness, a lot of sexual tension, and sexy hot coupling.
Hmmmm, really enjoyed the story until the 'Samantha' bit and to be honest it spoilt the whole thing for me, couldn't see the point of this part of the story, it didn't add anything but really felt like it took away, so was going to be 5 stars but dropped to 3 (almost 2) I was left feeling a bit sad because I was really enjoying it up to then, and to be honest it put me right off and I had to really force myself to even finish the book.
Disappointing because you get no where before you need to get the next book. It seemed to have lots of fluff that did not seem to be needed. Maybe it explains more in the next book
I read this as a boxed set, 1 thru 5. This was about a young college graduate Kim who finds out her mom has developed cancer and her parents have used there savings to put Kim thru college. She feels guilty because she knows her parents cannot afford the treatments that her mom will endure. Her and her friend come up with a plan to sell k II 's virginity to get the money for her mom. That's when Jackson, beautiful, strong, handsome, millionaire Jackson wins the bidding. This starts there relationship. Throughout all five books you watch Jackson fall harder and harder and you watch Kim second guess everything. Kim I found to be annoying and I really didn't feel the connection between them. She seemed too young fir him. She was Too flaky and unsure where he was confident, accomplished and hard working. These books were about opening yourself to more and experiencing life.
3.5-4 stars. I think this book started out good. I actually got the box set, so I got to read it from start to finish. The book for me was like a roller coaster at times it was really really good, other times it is losing my interest. There were some really good scenes that were super hot. But there were things about Kim's behavior that was a bit frustrating. The last book went in a completely strAnge direction when Sam entered the picture. The ending seemed rushed and fell flat for me. Robert I enjoyed the book until the end.
I honestly can't wait for the next book in this series!! Kim is an amazingly bright artist who is just graduating... Jackson is a hot business man. She runs into hard times and is forced to find a way out for her family. I truly LOVED this story!! I'm not big into spoilers, so I won't tell much more than that, but... I will update and give a more detailed review with the last book!! LOVE!!!
This is so bad I didn't even finish it. Her mom has cancer and she feels bad that they don't have money for her treatments because it went to her schooling. So her and her friend think of ideas to get money. And they come up with selling her virginity. Like seriously. I stopped right there. So dumb and poorly written! Don't read.
There really is no additional necessary comments based off that rating title...but I'ma give it to you anyway. HER BEST FRIEND & SAID BF BOYFRIEND BROKERS THE SALE. I'm out folks.
This is the first time I've ever read a book that was advertised on my Kindle, but I figured it's free through KU so why not. This story has been told a million times in this genre of romance and it is what it is. The writing is terrible at times and I skipped a few sections just to try to get to the point already. That said though, I'm curious where this series is going and these serials are short so I'll finish it.
