bought this new at the half-priced bookstore, it has all types of dips, sauces and many many chutney recipes. Chutney and interesting jams and jelly recipes are not that common. The other sauces and dips sound tasty and it has such inspiring photos. It makes you feel like you should just run into the kitchen and whip up some fancy jelly.
I love this cook book. It does not seem to be very well known, in fact I picked it up for half price at Boarders during a closing down sale. But it was a great find!
Not only does it have consistently good recipes, but the book is filled with beautiful photos and offers amazing inspiration if you are stuck for ideas.
This has become an essential cook book in my kitchen!
This book really outlines and teaches you the basic techniques, sauces, and the whys right in the beginning. Each chapter is beautifully illustrated with detailed instructions for the recipes. As well, often there are recipes where it’s the sauce, dip, etc and then an accompanying recipe for what to serve it with.
I thought this was a great deal, as I bought it for $4 on a discount shelf at Boarders. But, I'm now thinking I know why it was on the discount shelf. I have tried 2 recipes from this book and neither of them turned out. One was not even edible and the other one I had to do some tweaking to. I guess I will change my mind if I decide to try another recipe and it actually turns out okay. Not impressed.
This is the first recipe book that I've seen in which 99% of the recipes I'd actually make. Lots of good stuff! (PLUS...it was on sale at Border's for $5!)
Bought this at a steep discount at Borders and I LOVE this book. Loaded with all types of sauce and preserve recipes, accompanied by wonderful full color photos.
