I am an author with a huge love of horror.

Of course, other genres float my boat as well; Sci-Fi, Thrillers, pretty much any Dark Fiction, but Horror is what I call home.

My first novel, Horror in the Woods, was released on in May 2017, and the second, The Demonic, on the the following July hitting multiple best seller lists. Since then, I have authored a number of horror novels that have terrified fans for the past few years.

Lee Mountford’s Dark Spirits: The Demented is a terrifying and masterful crescendo to the Dark Spirits trilogy. This isn't just a haunted house story; it's a brutal, psychological siege that gets under your skin and chills you to the bone.
Jodie Callaghan’s journey reaches a fever pitch here. Her desperate, newfound “calling” and the impossible thing it promises create a frighteningly compelling drive, blurring the line between ambition and damnation. Sending her alone into the decaying heart of Cainwood House an asylum where the walls seem to bleed memory and suffering was a stroke of narrative cruelty in the best possible way. The atmosphere is palpable, a miasma of rot, rust, and residual pain that Mountford renders with visceral detail.
But the true horror is Edgar Sorrell. This isn't a ghost that simply rattles chains. Sorrell is a meticulously crafted entity of pure, intelligent malice, a twisted inmate whose afterlife has only honed his talent for psychological torture. Mountford excels at the slow, insidious invasion of the mind. The question posed in the blurb can Jodie show she has what it takes? becomes an agonizing, page-turning suspense as Sorrell’s presence methodically works to unravel her sanity, piece by piece.
The tension is unrelenting, a masterclass in pacing where every creak, every whisper, and every warped memory feels like a tightening vise. Watching Jodie fight not just for her soul, but for the very coherence of her own thoughts, is as emotionally gripping as it is horrifying.
The Demented is a flawless finale. It delivers profound scares, deepens the series' compelling lore, and brings Jodie’s harrowing arc to a conclusion that is both devastating and utterly satisfying. Lee Mountford cements his place as a modern master of horror with this one. An absolute must-read for fans of the genre.

👻👻Dark Spirits – The Demented 👻👻

We continue this story with Jodie and two time lines, you go back 27 years, and the other one is the present day, there is quite a lot of the going back is to do with her grandma Sally which also reflects currently in her situation, she just doesn’t know it yet all will be revealed!!

Jodie’s mum believe that anything to do with the supernatural especially spirits she is a non-believer. Loved this as it gave an insight into why Jodie does what she did with her husband and old friend. Looking for evidence of ghosts.

Jodie is new with the organisation and she is getting trained, but also she has a chance of trying to find locations that may have dark spirits attached to either houses or places to investigate, she is given a few, by luck one of these places she ends up finding out Cainwood House is seeping with lots of darkness and evil.

Everything is going to plan, and she ends up having the chance of catching another spirit, she is taking the lead on this one, but James and Thomas are kind of overlooking the possible capture of this evil spirit.

This was frighteningly scary filling me with the feelings of anxiety while reading with trepidation. The author just keeps you on the edge of your seat, I nearly fell off a couple of times. Just one more page I kept on saying to myself then BISH BASH BOSH…..THE END.

Absolutely loving this series I couldn’t read this book any faster, totally looking forward to what the author comes up with next. Cracking, addictive series …… I loved it!!!!

I went into Dark Spirits: The Demented expecting a creepy read, but Lee Mountford delivered something far more intense. This book got under my skin fast, with a constant sense of dread that never really lets up. The atmosphere is thick, the scares are brutal, and the psychological edge made me feel just as unbalanced as the characters. I loved how the tension kept escalating, pushing things into truly disturbing territory without feeling forced. By the end, I was equal parts horrified and impressed. If you like your horror dark, relentless, and just a little unhinged, this one absolutely delivers.

Solid read!

There were a few parts that actually rattled me. I read this as a standalone without reading the first two and the storyline still made sense. I'll be going back to read the first 2 for sure!

Paranormal horror

I have been enjoying the Dark Spirits series. This one has Jodie pitted against the most dangerous spirit she has encountered yet. It also builds up Jodie's background with the paranormal.
