Another really great book in the Fenbrook Academy series! If you are into angst, performing arts, and/or new adult books, you need to be adding this series to your to-read list.
I honestly think that this series is very underrated. The M/F new adult genre is full of poorly written books with recycled plots, and this series really stands out in the crowd. I've enjoyed each book in the Fenbrook Academy series, and this one was no different.
The latest installment focuses on Jasmine, who we've seen from the previous books. However, now we get to see Jasmine in a whoooole new light. She has a dark past, and we get to see all the lengths she is willing to go to in order to keep it hidden.
I loved the sexual tension between Jasmine and Ryan. They had excellent chemistry, so much so that the book practically vibrated with it. This story also had a good amount of heat in it, enough that it felt sexual but not too much that it would turn off some readers that shy away from uber-erotic romances. I also liked the characters. Ryan was perfect as a heated cop, suffering from his own personal demons, and I liked him paired up with Jasmine. Overall, the writing and the plot were very engaging, and I stayed up late to read this book two nights in a row.
However, this one isn't flawless. It is LONG, clocking in at nearly 600 pages, which is about 100 pages longer than it needed to be. I also didn't love the flashbacks, which are prevalent throughout the story. I think this could have used another round with an editor to clean it up and make it less weighty feeling. In addition, the friend circle began to feel a little cartoonish at the end, and less grounded in reality.
I think fans of this author will be extremely pleased with Jasmine's story. Though I've heard variations of parts of this story before, Helena Newbury managed to keep the story feeling new and exciting.

3.5 to 4 Pulling Off The Masks We Wear Stars * * * *
We all wear masks... it is just a matter of how easily we reveal ourselves. You have all heard over and over again when attempting a new job or situation the phrase "fake it till you make it"... well... in this story... we have a young woman who needed not only to fake it...she had to reinvent herself in order to survive...
In the prologue to this installment of the Fenbrook Academy series, we have Emma... she is locked into a world not of her making...corrupt, violent, very damaging and dangerous. She has tried to stay safe...be invisible...but eyes have been on her for sometime. The one person who should be her protector and care for her is the one person she must flee, never to be found...ever. She has thought of this...has come up with a plan for her life...and in her escape...she leaves all of it behind.
There will be no trace of Emma to be found...she will become Jasmine.
As Jasmine, she is everything Emma wasn't... enjoying her curves, confident when she walks, talks, and flirts... she will be an actress; she will make her mark and no one will ever think she was that girl.
She has made friends at Fenbrook Academy (they all have their own books but you do not have to read them to enjoy this one) and they are in their last year together. Jasmine has maintained her persona...she is giggly, the sexy one who tells everyone what they may need about sex...she is a man's walking wet dream...a Jessica Rabbit in human form...yet her heart and caring for her friends remains true..All of this has only enhanced her acting ability.
Together one night Jasmine crosses paths with Ryan, a beat cop. She and her group were making their way through an alley short cut after being out one night; one was a little lagged behind and was getting mugged. Ryan took the call with his partner Hux and questioned Jasmine as to what happened... In Ryan's questioning, he insulted her... and then had to backtrack...the "damage was done" but neither of them wanted to acknowledge the damage was not what he said.... it was to both of their beings... because that first connection in that alley ....was everything.
Ryan lived to be a cop... his father was one, his grandfather, too. He wasn't a talker... or slick... he would watch and observe. He also was BIG... the type of big which cannot be ignored...shoulders wide...tree trunk legs... arms ... just all of it. But some how not frightening unless he activated his look...that steely glare, intense... So here is this man captivated by this woman...who he thinks is an angel gliding through all these humans on earth. He cannot stop thinking of her, he is not worthy of her... he get's tongue tied every time he is around her... had fate brings them together again with a bar fight he breaks up, too. Then he starts to time his patrols for her walk at lunch on Thursdays...it just so happens she is just as obsessed about him too... but he is forbidden fruit... he is a cop...she cannot be around him... he will ask questions she cannot reveal...so when they have another encounter... these two mismatched people both fumble and events happen which change Ryan forever...
This book was strong and had grit. The characters were formed to give you the understanding of their actions... It is very important, however, to address the possible triggers which are in the book. Implied domestic violence, extreme sexual abuse are part of the storyline. I feel if these things are something which are not for you or could trigger, please think carefully about reading this book.
I will say, though, there were strong life lessons and the chemistry between Ryan and Jasmine/Emma worked. I would have liked to have seen the book come together a little sooner... There were quite a few plot points and all of them were addressed well...so in the end it was all worth it.
These books all cover unique issues surrounded by the falling in love with their partner...Nothing is every 1,2,3 easy... but they all have a satisfying end.

This review was originally posted on (un)Conventional Bookviews Jasmine definitely did act brave, even when she thought herself she wasn't brave at all! Acting Brave is a very strong ending to Newbury's Fenbrook Academy series, filled with emotions - both good and bad, I both laughed, cried, and swooned! - and amazing characters.
The third instalment in Newbury's Fenbrook Academy series fulfilled me - I loved Jasmine as a character, even if I found her hard to 'get' in the prior novels where she was a side character. When I got to know her better, I understood so well why she often seemed aloof and a bit detached, she really had to be to protect both herself and her friends. She came from a very difficult past, and she had seen firsthand what it meant to stand up for herself - it didn't only have consequences for her, but for those who wanted to help her as well. Fenbrook was a new start for her, and she wanted to make the most of it, while staying safe at the same time.
Ryan had fallen in love with Jasmine almost at sight, even when he had to break up a fight, and he thought she was a high-end prostitute. The young police officer had things together, though, at least until his partner was shot dead and he had trouble dealing with his temper. When the two of them end up at the same audition for a TV show, sparks fly, and they get leading roles, even if Ryan has never acted before.
The characters moved the story forward flawlessly, and I loved to learn more about them little, by little, Jasmine had a lot of what she saw as bad luggage on her young shoulders, and it was so nice to see how she might be able to let go of the past to fully live her life in the present while also preparing for the future.
Written in first person point of view, from both Ryan's and Jasmine's perspectives, I enjoyed myself and was amazed at how quickly I finished the book. Completely engrossed from start to finish, I loved every second.
I hadn't slept for two nights and I was practically hallucinating. But before I crashed out, there was one last thing I had to do. I pulled the Ploaroid camera from my backpack and took off all my clothes. And then, using the self-timer, I took photos of everything he'd done to me.
My eyes went from gray to green, courtesy of colored contacts. My face, once gaunt from stress and bad food, filled out. My skin went from deathly pale and spotty to something you might romantically call ivory. I grew my hair until it hung in long, shining waves I liked to think qualified as tresses.
"Did I do something wrong?" she asked. And even that throwaway, innocent comment was just laden with teasing, sexy innuendo. My mind filled with all the things she might have done wrong, and all the wrong things I'd like to do to her. Or was it all in my head? Was I just reading that into it because I was completely, hopelessly smitten with this girl?
I think I liked this story better than previous ones. Yes, I haven't read the first book in the series; it doesn't interest me that much unlike the rest of the books in the series, who knows maybe I’ll like it even more but for now this book is the best of the series so far. One thing that made me prefer this book than others in the series is it has more angst in it. I like angst and drama in contemporary romance. And the main characters Jasmine and Ryan carry more baggage on their shoulders.
And I think author did a good job building the tension between Jasmine and Ryan since book 2. It surely made me curious to pick this book up to know more about them. Which is quite surprising me because I never thought that their story will be that dark and deep. It just sad and what happened with them was heartbreaking and I could feel it. I felt them more than what happened to other characters in the series.
However, there is one thing that I didn't quite like and it made my reading wasn't that good, in a way. The way Jasmine and Ryan, but especially Jasmine, tell their stories sometimes feel repetitive to me. I get that it's needed in some way, but when I keep reading the same thing, things that I already know but have to read again because the characters tell me times and again I didn't enjoy it. In fact it was a bit annoying I felt like they forced me to run in a circle with them.
And there is also this one thing that actually isn't a big deal for the story , but I was kinda questioning it and couldn't believe that they didn't do it sooner than later. I cannot help not to think that it is (maybe) to build the climax while I think it was quite ridiculous when the characters didn't think of it, while it's so obvious for me.
Hence, I cannot round my rating up to 4, though I do think it's the best in the series, so far.
She Does it again! In Helena Newbury's newsletter, she said that Acting Brave took the longest and took the most out of her to write as compared to the other Fenbrook Academy books. After reading it, I can certainly see why. We not only get Jasmine and Ryan's story, we also have Hux and Emma along for the ride. So much going on between each couple, it was a wonder these two could even function half of the time.
If you are a Fenbrook follower, you know Jasmine as the fun, flirty friend of Karen, Nat and Clarissa. She's a free spirit attending the school's acting program. While able to dole out advice to the girls, there isn't anybody Jasmine can truly lean on and that's the way she'd like to keep it. She became Jasmine three years ago and sometimes it's all she can take to keep the walls up. She has to remind herself, "how flimsy her Jasmine raft was, and how easily it could tip." Jasmine wound up in New York after running away from a house of horrors back in Chicago and hasn't looked back.
Jasmine finally gets her big break on a television cop drama. The show is fine, the subject is a bit more to swallow. Jasmine isn't a fan of the cops, doesn't trust them as far as she can throw them. One bright spot on the show is the giant, lovable real-cop-acting-like-a-cop, Ryan.
Ryan is a beat cop that has been in love with Jasmine from afar. He saw her a year ago, made a dumb assumption about her and has never had the guts to talk to her after that. For a big guy, he is really just a mountain of mush, which is what I loved most about his character. Ryan also has some demons to overcome, one reason he's a cop on a tv show and not in real life at the moment.
Ryan and Jasmine are on screen lovers and finally she admits she feels the same for him off screen as well. Jasmine doesn't like cops because they could be crooked and they ask too many questions, the main reason she kept Ryan at arms length. Cops triggered memories of her past, something she wants to forget. Deep down Jasmine needed Ryan, because,"the thing about surviving is: you can only do it for so long." The past was creeping up and Jasmine had to finally let somebody see who she really was.
I think I'm gonna say I liked this third book in the series the best. Again, Helena Newbury takes her time with the characters, building up the romance and not just jumping in. It's a busy story with love trying to bloom, a tv show, death and the past vying for your attention. All former characters are front and center in Jasmine's story as well (love that!). The book can be read as a stand alone, however I recommend reading them in order for the full Fenbrook effect. I thank Helena Newbury for letting me read her work.
This is my FAVORITE BOOK out of the trilogy! Helena Newbury definitely nailed it with this last one. And it was such a perfect ending too.
One of the reasons I love her books is because not only she remind her readers on what happened in her previous books but also she build out more out of her previous characters rather than just end their stories there. Speaking of characters, Jasmine is definitely my favorite! It was interesting reading her battles between her two identities. It wasn't even confusing and it might have been even a little... relate-able.
The book was done perfectly. The scenes wasn't done overly. Newbury dived in her characters and exploited their personalities. While I love the identities of Emma and Jasmine, it gets a little repetitive on some parts when Jasmine is figuring out who she's playing at the moment.
The part where all the characters come together was just so heartfelt too. It felt like it was kind of deliberately done that way because it's the ending of the trilogy but it didn't felt cheesy or anything. It was just... perfectly done. And I can definitely say the scene in the courtroom is my favorite out of the book.
Acting Brave was full of feels without being angsty. It has the perfect touch of keeping me at the edge of my seat too. Any NA lover should try this book out. It'll be worth your time. Trust me ;)
Jasmine is an actress who attends Fenbrook Academy and is hiding from her past. Ryan is a cop who has been dealt a bad hand. The two met awhile back and although they are attracted to each other, nothing had happened. There is a producer who is looking for fresh faces to star in his new cop show and Jasmine lands the gig of a lifetime! The idea is to mix actors with real life cops. Ryan also gets on the show opposite of Jasmine. They can no longer fight their attraction. Can Jasmine and Ryan push through their pasts or will it ruin what chance they have to be together?
OMG I loved this book! By far my favorite of the series. I was hooked and rooting for Jasmine and Ryan! I loved Jasmine's character to begin with and I love that she got her own book. I laughed and cried. A truly enjoyable read.
The Fenbrook Academy series is a great read. All of the books center around one of the students and this is Jasmine's story. Loved it from the first page. It was fast paced and a sexy read too. Wonderful characters and Helena writes a beautiful story as always. YOU must read this series
Acting Brave was amazing. It had everything -- action, suspense, a little angst, romance, and friendship. It also packed in all the emotion I was looking for...and then some. I'd always wondered what Jasmine's story was. And it wasn't an easy one. Not only do we get to know all that made Jasmine who she is -- and it's some terrifying stuff -- but we also get to know Ryan better. We met Ryan in In Harmony. He's a big, hunky cop, who upon meeting Jasmine for the first time (at the scene of a mugging) thinks she's a hooker.
Jasmine is an actress...the bubbly, vivacious one of the Fenbrook girls. But she's hiding from a lot of darkness. Ryan is the one person who seems to see through her facade and the closer they get, the closer the real Jasmine gets to the surface.
Ryan is battling a demon of his own. Having never had the courage to ask Jasmine out, he finds himself in the position to interact with her daily as they are both given roles in a TV pilot for a police drama. There's a story here - but you'll have to read the book to get it. :)
Newbury said Acting Brave was "more difficult and more affecting" to write than its predecessors. It's my favorite in the series. It's obvious she poured her heart and soul into this one. She did a phenomenal job of conveying how difficult the fight was that Jasmine was experiencing -- battling to maintain the shields around her, the life she'd created, and keeping her past buried for fear of what its discovery would mean for her and her friends. I also liked her description of Jasmine's feelings that her friends were drifting away -- that Karen in particular, no longer needed her, and why her perspective was such.
Since Acting Brave is told in dual POV, we also get well acquainted with Ryan. He's gone through a recent tragedy and how he's dealt with it has gotten him into a bit of trouble. Despite this, he's just such an open, honest guy who can't believe his luck in that a girl like Jasmine would give him a second look. They're good for one another though. They've always had chemistry but their romance gets to simmer, and I loved that they took the time to get to know one another. It made it all more special.
This is the last of the series. *sniff* But another thing that made Acting Brave such a standout was how Newbury exhibited why all these girls are such good friends. They all really had each others' backs and when they needed each other, they all -- even their guys -- pulled together.
It sounds like Acting Brave was all rainbows and unicorns, doesn't it? It was far from that. It has a dark, gritty side. But friendship and love prevailed, and I adored this final chapter in the Fenbrook Academy series. I look forward to seeing what Newbury does next.
I was given this book by the author in exchange of an honest review.
I have been privileged to have read the previous books in the Fenbroook Academy Series. Whereas the two first books in the series were really really good and very well written, this book was exceptional. Not only does the author had a brilliant story line, she also had to deliver several characters, well not several characters but the female lead has to take on a new personality but at the same time remain herself, I know this sounds complicated well imagine the challenge that Helena had! This book tells the story of Emma (Jasmine) and Ryan, as with previous stories they evolve around Fenbrook Academy and thus allow us to get a glimpse to the other couples from the 1st and 2nd book. Here Emma is a girl that has grown up in a terrible environment but has always aspired to be an actress, after a terrifying and traumatic event she escapes from her past and therefore has to create a completely new identity in order to survive and be free in this new home, in doing so by adopting a new Identity she has to build a completely new personality forgetting everything that can remind her of who she is and where she's come from, but in order for her to do that, she must take on this new role and bury her old self, that means, her name, accent, mannerisms, anything that will potentially give away who she is. Ryan is a complete opposite, he has grown to a loving and caring family and has always been able to follow his dreams of becoming a cop, his partner is one of his best friends and together they make a wonderful team. By chance one night whilst on duty Ryan is called to a scene of an incident involving "Jasmine" and from the moment they both met things are never the same for them. Ryan spends every single moment fantasising about Jasmine and waiting for any opportunity when he can see her, even if just a glimpse to get him through the day, for Jasmine is the same but she doesn't want to jeopardise what she has worked for, thus only allowing herself a few short "Ryan Moments" to appease her heart. Fate however has other plans, and circumstances beyond control will throw this two characters together in the least expected way and by doing so they will have to spend time in each others company, risking not only their hearts but their lives.
I absolutely enjoyed each and every chapter of this story, I love the ability to read from each lead point of view. The dialogues are well crafted and the plot is very original. Plenty of Steamy moments, Suspense, Drama, Romance, totally heart felt and full of emotion. The perfect package. I can't wait for the next in the series!. WELL DONE HELENA NEWBURY.
A great addition to the Fenbrook academy series. i enjoyed the story of Ryan and Emma the most. Why? Because they were more real. Two hard working people struggling with things. One with a past she was afraid of and the other with recent events that he can’t forgive himself with. Ryan falls for her the minute he meets her in the alley but he’s afraid she is better than he deserves because she goes to Fenbrook and he is just a beat cop. Emma stays away from relationships because if people found out the real her she is afraid they would hate her and also that she would be found. Her secrets can be dangerous. His can release him from his guilt and pain. With Emma he is honest and begins to heal although the anger is there due to residual guilt. When the two meet again at a show audition sparks fly. Emma tries to resist but it’s futile. The two come together and the sweet kind patient Ryan is seen and swoops her off her feet. Unfortunately Emma has danger come back and tries to protect him but Ryan doesn’t have it. Yay Ryan and he finds out who the real Emma is and loves her more. He helps protect her and make things right in her world.
Of all the characters Ryan is my favorite. He is perfectly flawed. He is sweet and kind and wants to help. He loves Emma and is honest about things. He tries hard to make her feel safe. I also like Emma’s brother because he does try and in the end he is a hero for helping Ryan and battling his own demons to do it. Emma’s friends we were introduced to in the series and we see some drifting apart but when Emma’s past comes out they realize this and get closer. This is a good group and one that draws you to them with their unassuming ways.
The romance is sweet and beautiful. When intimacy does occur wow it is steamy and amazing. These two truly draw you to them and keep you hoping they will make it.
A book about trust and love. About finding the one you feel safe with and trusting they will love and support you no matter what. A sweet wonderful romance that will keep you wanting more of them.
Wow. This book was brutal on me emotionally. I had no idea Jasmine's story was going to affect me this much. I should've known I wasn't going to come out of reading this series unscathed, especially having read the previous two books in the series, but somehow I was.
Jasmine and Ryan gave off some amazing sparks. It was both hot and frustrating to see them dance around each other the way they did. I understood why they weren't pursuing the attraction they felt, but that doesn't mean I agreed with their faulty logic. Some of my favorite scenes take place when they're filming or doing things to prepare for filming. That scene were they had to get intimate to shoot is one I don't think I'll forget for a long time to come.
I had no idea what lay behind Jasmine's rich girl facade. I found myself hurting for her when it became clear the secrets she had were painful and holding her back from the life she wanted. I really liked how we were able to get into both Ryan and Jasmine's heads. It made it easy to understand what motivated them. I liked how Ryan supported Jasmine in all things. I know it was hard for him to hear her truth. It was really hard for me to reconcile what'd happened to her and who was responsible for it.
Helena Newbury has won me over. I am a huge fan now thanks to this book, and the others in the series that really touched me. The story is well written and paced really well. There are also lots of twists that inevitably left me in tears. I really do hope the Fenbrook stories aren't finished. If they are, I can't wait to see what Helena Newbury writes next.
Well written, well-edited book, with a half-dozen typos, including one in the second paragraph on the first page. The typos are notable because they’re unexpected, based on the three prior books. Could be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend reading the other books in the series first. One tiny flaw of the entire series is the author occasionally drops British-English vocabulary (plasters vs bandages, etc.) but the characters are mostly American and the story is based in NY. 4.5 stars, rounded up.
I found this to be the most emotional book of the series. The main female character has some significant trauma in her past that she’s trying to avoid. The main male character has guilt and anger issues he’s trying to suppress. Those elements wrapped inside the details of four girlfriends getting ready to graduate, moving into serious relationships and the difficulty of staying connected as friends are handled in a way that feels realistic, not angsty.
As with the first three books, there’s a fair amount of heat. Unlike the first three books, this story is more of a romantic suspense, which was a nice twist in the series. Some additional details are added about the couples in the prior three books and there’s a tidy ending that still left me feeling like I wanted to know how each couple ends – but this was the last book, so I guess the rest is left to our imaginations.
~~~~~Gifted for a Honest Review~~~ Rated 3.5 to 4 stars Fenbrook Academy wasn't in my usual line of books I read. Contempory... Sweet.. fast paced series that follows a trio of girls. This latest one as the other before it a good read, detailed almost a bit too much. You know in order for one to feel accomplished in what they do .. I think they need to like what they do. Emma has been acting all her life. When its time its time .. and Emma leaves her old self behind to start over and move on. Guilt is a emotion that will catch you easily if you dont catch it first. Something so tragic as losing a partner, pretty much tip the scales as seriously messed up. Will acting a cop give the real cop a new lease on life? You know assumptions is the mother of all *donkeys* And when one cant bring themselves to apologize just makes then twice the donkey. Another emotion that will eat you alive is trust .. or in some case untrusting of cops.. Now how does two battered souls mesh? By the up and down roller coaster of a relationship.. Is this a stand alone.. well.. yes but do yourself a fav and read the others . Its a very long read, so for the ones that wish for a never ending story.. this one is pretty close. Will each of them find themselves mirroring each others reasoning. All in all a good book, a decent series all sweet and a moment or two of WTH.. Enjoy
If you like character driven romance and haven't read anything by Helena Newbury, then you're really missing out. I love the Fenbrook Academy series: the school, the characters, and the romance. I fell in love with Jasmine while reading In Harmony, book #2 in the series. It was so wonderful to read an entire novel devoted to this intriguing character.
The prologue was heart-breaking, especially if you're not already acquainted with Jasmine. She experienced such deep trauma in her past, yet remained so strong despite that. Romantic interest Ryan was sexy, intelligent, and all around awesome. The heat and romantic tension started quickly-- Chapter One-- and turned into a full blaze before long.
Frankly, this was a rather emotional read, so be sure you're prepared with tissue and some quiet space. I really enjoyed the romantic suspense element which made this novel stand out from the others in the series. But once again, my favorite aspect was the character development. It was superb. The characters weren't just well-developed, they leapt off the page.
Acting Brave was my favorite novel in the Fenbrook Academy series. I'm adding this one to my favorites list. There's just nothing like a very satisfying read!
Acting Brave by Helena Newbury is the third book in her Fenbrook Academy series. It is part of the series but can be read as a standalone. I recommend reading the series in order though as this book deals not only with Ryan and Jasmine but characters from previous books.
A steady paced story packed and ripe with detail and purpose. Not a quick read but definitely an enjoyable one. We follow Jasmine and Ryan as they start working together on a TV show crime drama.
As much as she loves acting, the whole crime/cop aspect is causing past memories to be triggered and that's something she wants to keep buried and left way back in Chicago.
Ryan feels this show is his last chance. he lost his partner and has been barely coping ever since. He knows he's surly and is making an effort to fix it. But when the attraction between him and his co-star does nothing but build exponentially there's not a whole lot he can do to prevent screwing something up, be it his acting career or possible relationship with Jasmine.
This book will evoke emotion. You will laugh and you may even cry but you definitely will feel. I can't wait to read more from this author.
* * ARC received on behalf of obsessed by books for an honest review * * emma is a girl running from her past, from her demons. she buys a one way ticket to New York studies to be an actress and changes her name to jasmine, now she just has to keep the serade up and not fall in love, but that maybe hard to do. Ryan never seen himself as an actor, but it's a good way to hide from the guilt he feels for losing his partner. when two are put together, not only do they fall in love on screen but these feeling surface off screen as well. Jasmine can't let her feelings for ryan happen, cause the past will emerge, even though she wants ryan to know the real her, she's afraid he want feel the same abut Emma. I give this a 5 star rating, the love story is by far the best yet out of this series.
I've won this book on Goodreads First Reads. It was a great read. I loved these characters, starting with Jasmine and Ryan. The story got me hooked from the beginning. Jasmine's story was so painful, I really felt for her. It was remarkable to became someone so positive and confident after what happened to her. Even if it was just an act, it helped her get through it all. Ryan was such a great and supportive guy, it was just easy to fall for him, just like she did. He gave her strength to fight the demons from her past and finally defeat them. This was the first book of the author I've read and I can't wait to get my hands on another one. P.S. Thank you for the chocolates! :-)
I absolutely loved Acting Brave by Helena Newbury as it is an exciting, but yet romantic novel that will leave your heart yearning and wanting more. Newbury is a talented artist who has created a novel with strong characters, who you will instantly feel a connection with.
Jasmine is such a strong character that knows what she wants, however, her past history forces her to keep the man she wants at a distant. Ryan is a very intense and interesting character, whom I found to love almost immediately.
Newbury has done an amazing job with her latest novel in Fenbrook Academy series. It will leave you wanting more. Definitely a must addition to your To-Be-Read-Shelf.
Book Three of this series has such deep emotions. You can't help but fly through the pages. I couldn't wait to get to Jasmines story and She didn't let me down! Ryan oh you big hearted sexy man!! These two characters have the sparks flying. This one is deeper than the rest and it made it all tie into this last one. Ryan and Jasmine are getting their break and nothing will stop them from getting it. I really enjoyed every character in this series. This was a new author to me and now she has another fan. Highly recommended.
To my relief, this was much better than Dance for Me, this author has clearly grown in writing skill and style in the two years since that first book. Still rather slow paced for my taste but so much better in other aspects. The character development and backstory for each of them were captivating and thorough. The horror that she had to hear and witness perfectly described to ratchet up the tension when her brother shows up I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Oh My God, talk about twists and turns. I have absolutely loved this series of books, the characters are all 'damaged' in their own way there is no quick fix for any of them but they all just work. I just can't decide which couple are my favourites, but I have to say Jasmine and Ryan's story really tugged at the heart string and made me proud of them at the same time.
A bit slow at times but still a really good read. I really liked the story between Jasmine (Emma) and Ryan it was a very detailed book. Jasmine is struggling with her things in her past and Ryan is struggling with the present a good combination.
I loved this whole series but this one was my favorite and you kinda get 2 stories in one I highly recommend this whole series Its sweet and sassy some sexy and strong female lead :)
Jasmine is an actress who attends Fenbrook Academy and is hiding from her past. Ryan is a cop who has been dealt a bad hand. The two met awhile back and although they are attracted to each other, nothing had happened. There is a producer who is looking for fresh faces to star in his new cop show and Jasmine lands the gig of a lifetime! The idea is to mix actors with real life cops. Ryan also gets on the show opposite of Jasmine. They can no longer fight their attraction. Can Jasmine and Ryan push through their pasts or will it ruin what chance they have to be together?
OMG I loved this book! By far my favorite of the series. I was hooked and rooting for Jasmine and Ryan! I loved Jasmine's character to begin with and I love that she got her own book. I laughed and cried. A truly enjoyable read.
This is the best book in the Fenbrook Academy series it a great storyline and very strong characters and brings the four friends very much together. This is Jasmine's story and boy does she have a story to tell it keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish coming. She coming from a really terrible crime ridden background has reinvented herself from becoming a terrified girl to confident actress but underneath is still that very afraid young woman no one knows her secrets but Ryan the young really handsome young cop has had the hots for her from the first moment he saw her and he sees more in her than anyone else. Of course eventually her house of cards comes tumbling down but now she isn't alone. It's a great read with so much to keep your interest.
A very well written and easy to follow storyline about a girl called Jasmine escaping her past. She has dreams of becoming an actress and assumes a new persona hiding herself from everyone. Good characters and dialogue. Few odd hiccups here and there (editor!!) But it didn't effect the story. Lying and kissing is still my favourite by this author, who always delivers.
