Flame of Fortunes is the fifth and final book in Hannah Haze’s Firestone Academy series, and what a journey this series has been. Even though I’m happy for them to finally achieve their well-deserved HEA, I’m a little sad to say goodbye to all these amazing characters.

The Professor, the Wolf, the Emperor, the Killer, and the Girl from Slate have earned a place on my shelf of most special characters.

I absolutely loved the way Hannah concluded this story, and the epilogue filled my heart with love. The way they overcome their enemies, their fears, their sorrows, their losses… the way they truly claim their happiness and build love between them was incredible to read.

Fly and Clare? The most outstanding side characters ever, they’re the kind of best friends we mere mortals can only dream of. And Blaze? I just want to bring him home, hug him, and live the life dreams are made of. He truly is the most perfect dragon.

With unforgettable characters, a unique and fascinating magic system, and immersive world-building, this series is impossible not to recommend. There were so many emotions throughout the five books, and I was there for all of them. I cried, laughed, and fell a little bit in love with these characters, they wrecked me in the most perfect and delicious way.

Thank you, Hannah, for the ARC opportunity, but most of all, for this unique adventure. This series will remain one of my all-time favorites, and I promise it will become yours too.

Overall the series was really good. But I just don’t understand why the author felt the need to draw attention to the fact that the characters, especially FMC rarely ever showered? Not once in the book was the use of the toilet or brushing teeth ever mentioned but we sure as shit knew all about her dislike of a shower.
Especially when Dray constantly bangs on about smelling her bits and pieces. And the one bit towards the end where she’s been busy the night before then the next morning it’s ’I know I’m sticky from the night before but I don’t have time for a shower’ and then proceeds to put her manky old smelly demon realm clothes back on?? And then that’s how it stays until the end of the book. Far out everyone must have been pongy.

This was an epic ending to an amazing series! This book was fast-paced and full of action. I was not prepared for the emotional damage it delivered. I guess I should’ve expected something tragic to happen since it’s the final book in the series, but dang, it had me sobbing. I absolutely adore all the characters in this series, and I’m not ready to let them go just yet. Hannah Haze never disappoints, and I can’t wait for her next series!

I like how the story was wrapped up. I don’t think Clare’s death was necessary to the plot. Kinda just felt cruel and a bit rushed. Overall solid series. I stand by my earlier statement that I really enjoy Hannah Haze books. I think this series got a bit drawn out near the end. I think a 3 book series would have likely packed a bigger punch.

Stronger together…

This is the conclusion of Briony’s journey in The Firestone Academy series. I had to take a few days to think about how this book made me feel.

Overall I enjoyed this book BUT after a senseless side characters death I lost some of that enjoyment. I felt that the death was not needed to continue the storyline. It also was glossed over so fast that it just didn’t make sense to even have it happen in the first place. That’s the only thing I didn’t like about this ending.

Briony, Fox, Thorne, Dray and Beaufort survive the battles against their enemies. We get an epilogue with baby dragons and we get a glimpse of all of their futures.

We also get a peek at the next series and I will definitely be patiently waiting for it.

This series was just perfect. The characters, the plot, the pacing. I swear Hannah Haze cannot write a bad book. This had everything I love and then some: fated mates, shadow daddies, shifters, a vampire, amazing found family, great bonds and friendships and a good plot.

The only thing that could have made this a bit better would be a longer epilogue but even that was great. And the FMC? Absolute badass. My favorite part was seeing Thorne really accept himself and let Briony in. He blossomed so so much throughout this series and the growth was just chefs kiss.

I’m glad i have read this series but this book was unnecessarily TOO long to bring us to HEA. I felt like Briony was a 5yo kid commending everybody around and still knowing nothing. She didn’t feel like FMC but a kid who would just shout her commands into nothing.

The sudden death of one of her two best friends was NO NEEDED! I liked this character sm and it was not well deserved.

I’m glad the finale showed us some year after but i totally feel it could have been probably wrapped up nicely in 3 books instead of 5.

Still a pretty good overall why choose prn academy series

Briony is still dumb. Her friend dies and then she falls down with shame and guilt. Girl what did you think was going to happen? Still dumb, naive and stubborn. Minimal character growth

Fox- yeah not sure about his magical “twist” that happened. That’s so random and seems so unrealistic..like WTF?!

Dray- he’s always amazing and hilarious

Thorne- ugh finally! Geez took it long enough but I’m so here for the finale! He’s been so fun to see grow

Beaufort- he was a very pleasant surprise. I loved who he turned in to.

The epilogue was an annoying teaser! Just enough crumbles but not actually give much info

The big battle was pretty unrealistic. The whole plot was just…meh the guys made the book

What a bloody ride… and honestly, I’m still sitting with it.

Flame of Fortunes is everything I’ve come to expect from Hannah Haze—fast-paced, addictive, and full of that chaotic why choose energy I fell in love with back in Arrow Hart Academy. The Firestone Academy series has been no exception, and this finale really brings it all together.

But it definitely hits a little differently.

There is a death that caught me off guard, and while it completely floored me in the moment… I’ve kind of been sitting here afterwards like… was it necessary?? Jury’s still out on that one. But I will say, it added an extra layer of emotion and made everything feel that little bit more real.

The relationships though? This is where Hannah just does not miss.

Dray, Fox, Thorne, and Beaufort all bring something so distinct to the table, and none of them feel like background characters. The bond between them—and with Briony—feels earned, messy, and genuinely strong.

But Thorne… yeah, he had me.

His journey across the series has easily been my favourite. The walls, the resistance, the slow unraveling—and then finally letting Briony in? I ate that up. That payoff was everything and honestly hit harder because of how long it took to get there.

The pacing is relentless in the best way—there’s always something happening—but it never loses that emotional core. Everything feels like it’s been building to this point, and for the most part, it really sticks the landing.

The ending is satisfying, with that bittersweet edge that lingers after you turn the final page. Saying goodbye to this world (and these characters) definitely isn’t easy.

And that little glimpse of what’s coming next from Hannah Haze?? Yeah… I am KEEN. Give me all of it immediately please and thank you.

Thank you to Hannah Haze for letting me be a part of your ARC team! I’m so grateful to have experienced this series alongside its release and to fall in love with this world and these characters the way I have. It’s been such a ride, and I can’t wait to see what you give us next.

This finale didn’t just stick the landing.......it earned it.

From the very first page, this last installment of The Firestone Academy series feels like a storm gathering all the threads we’ve followed and daring them to finally collide. And when they do? It’s explosive, emotional, and deeply satisfying in a way that only a true ending can be. Not a rushed goodbye. Not a convenient wrap-up. A real conclusion, the kind where you can feel the weight of everything these characters have survived pressing into every choice they make.

Because they have been through it. Pain, betrayal, impossible odds… and yet they come out the other side not unscathed, but stronger, sharper, and fiercely deserving of the future they’re fighting for. Watching them claim that hard-won hope felt like exhaling after holding your breath for an entire series.

The world-building remains as rich and immersive as ever.....layered with danger, intrigue, and a magic system that crackles with both beauty and consequence. It’s the kind of world that doesn’t just sit in the background; it pulls you under, wraps around you, and refuses to let go. The shadow weavers, the political tension, the ever-tightening web of secrets, it all hums with urgency.

And the characters? Impossible not to love. They feel lived-in, real, and achingly human despite the magic surrounding them. Their bonds, especially the fierce, unwavering connection between her and the four men at her side, are the heartbeat of this story. Every glance, every sacrifice, every moment of unity feels earned.

This book is a battle cry and a love letter all at once, a story about tearing down lies, standing in truth, and choosing each other even when the world threatens to collapse.

A powerful, emotional, and wholly satisfying finale. The kind that lingers long after the last page, like embers still glowing.

Rant Review for the entire Firestone Academy Series:

Fox is the only reason I kept going and then the author Honestly.

Briony is mind-numbingly stupid and had absolutely zero character growth. At no point did she grow up.

She forgot the name of her own dog. It was Baxter in the first book and then Barney later. Yikes.

I like that Dray is psychotic and insane but the excessive talk about her lady bits was gross, especially wanting to do things in his wolf form.

The author left a lot of plot threads unanswered and wasted time. The magical steroids drug? I'm pretty sure the one selling it was Sterling based on descriptions but they didn't bother to address that. The ghost dragon? Did we just forget its pseudo-prophecy warning? Also that shit was completely straightforward but Briony and her two braincells couldn't put it together. Okay.

Beaufort had the best growth arc, by far, though I honestly miss him being an asshole. At least let him keep some of his personality, like damn.

TLDR: Whole series could have been shorter, with less filler, a tolerable FMC, a consistent plotline, and the author could have made use of some sort of planning because she forgot half her own subplots.

Best part of the entire series was Beaufort telling Briony that if she was less of a bitch she might actually be hated less. That was incredible.

⭐️ 3.5

i liked this series enough to finish all of it, and overall i did enjoy it, but there were definitely moments where i felt unsatisfied or like certain things were left unfinished.

for starters, i really feel like briony missed a huge character development opportunity by the end of the series. they were literally in the middle of a war and she was STILL hesitating and doubting herself in ways that started to get frustrating. and there was that moment in book 4 where she was being insensitive about beaufort’s upbringing. i understood where she was coming from because she’s always questioned their system and been skeptical of it, but at the same time… girl, read the room 😭

and don’t even get me started on the part where she got mad at beaufort for not telling her about his mother and siblings. SHE NEVER ASKED??? out of all the things she could’ve been upset about, that was the hill to die on? yes, his family was absolutely insane, but seeing your man visibly uncomfortable talking about his family should’ve been enough to back off a little.

also, with clare’s death in the last book, i really thought that moment was going to impact briony more deeply and push her character forward. instead, i hated how much she blamed herself and started doubting everything she was doing. that loss could’ve fueled so much more fire and determination in her, and it honestly felt like a missed opportunity.

despite all that though, i still liked the series and i did enjoy the ending. it was sweet, and THE DRAGONS 😭 they were honestly one of my favorite parts. cute little dragon babies will always win me over.

Excuse me, what in the heck was this ending. I'm so sad to say goodbye to this world and these characters.

I know i've said this before but I don't know what Hannah puts in her stories, they are so addicting!!!

Flame of Fortunes picks up just as Lure Of Lightning concludes. Briony has been separated from Beau, Thorne and Dray. Briony and Fox do everything in their power to get them back before Beaufort's mother does the unthinkable. Things go from bad to worse and a battle ensues. Let me tell you, i did not like this particular battle, it was awful. Briony eventually finds out what was the cause of her sister's passing and it is so much darker than they thought. However, I love that Briony and her mates go from strength to strength even through so much turmoil. I also enjoyed that we see Briony come into her own and lead the way for a better future for herself, her mates and future generations. She is such a bada$$!!!

Briony and her fated do get their happy ending but it is definitely a rollercoaster for sure but the character growth for all 5 of them was beautiful and i just love them all.

I could go on and on but I don't want to give anything away so i'll stop now 😊

Thank you Hannah and your lovely team for the opportunity to read this story and to be a part of your ARC team, i am truly so grateful 🩷

Although I really, really loved most of this series, I couldn’t give it five stars because the FMC was so annoying that if it wasn’t for the great narration, I probably would’ve DNF’d it. I love the fact that it was a slow burn, and sexy scenes were pretty much appropriately placed, with the plot line still in in the forefront. There was lots of action, with some good, and some heartbreaking surprises. The MMC‘s were all fantastic with different personalities. The secondary characters added a lot to the stories. I also loved how things weren’t really drawn out too long. The ending battle was exciting, and pretty much everything got wrapped up nicely. It’s just that the FMC seems to have absolutely no growth. She was so bratty, whiny, and stubborn. She refused to listen to anyone’s suggestions and then when things went badly, all she did was scream. “it’s all my fault“. Yes, yes, it was, because you were brash and ran into situations you know nothing about and couldn’t handle properly. Not only that, but she felt like she could just boss everyone around, even though she didn’t listen to anybody. She just really, really annoyed me. I would think that over five book series, she would’ve learned something and grew up a little instead of acting like a 12-year-old who acted out because she wasn’t getting her way most of the time. This was a duet style narration with two audio actors that are fantastic. I really believe that if I was narrated by almost anybody else I wouldn’t be able to get through it.

Review:
Knowing this was the final book in the series, I was weary of picking it up. There were so many unanswered questions and unresolved conflicts that I didn’t think they could possibly be wrapped up in one book. I have never been so happy to be wrong.

Haze continued to take us through the world that Briony grew up in. She took us back to where our heroine came from and it helped to better understand how she became who she was. The resolution was both satisfying and heartbreaking with a lot of shocks and surprises along the way. I’m not sure it could’ve been done any better.

Throughout the book the author used the fated mates trope, a very unique magical system, found family, forced proximity and more to demonstrate how much each character had grown throughout the journey. She also delved deeper into the world-building by giving more history and context for the world our characters currently inhabited.

Overall, the ending was very satisfying though I am sad about a few of the deaths and how they happened. I think my only real complaint is that the epilogue was so short. ;)

I wanted to love this series SO badly because, for once, I genuinely loved all of the MMCs. Their character growth? Fantastic. Watching them become decent, supportive, emotionally mature men was honestly the highlight of the entire series. Unfortunately, they were all chained to an FMC who had the emotional regulation skills of a wet cat in a bath.

This girl had absolutely zero growth from start to finish. She’s constantly reminding everyone how weak she is while simultaneously refusing every ounce of help or protection offered to her, then getting mad when nobody helps. Pick a struggle. Every bad decision is followed by a self pity monologue about how everything is her fault and honestly? For once, the inner monologue was correct.

The temper tantrums alone aged me 10 years. She literally admits she’ll judge or be angry at people if they disagree with her, yet somehow expects endless patience and support in return. The lack of self preservation was genuinely impressive at times. Like girl, survival instincts exist for a reason.

Also, this series absolutely did not need to be this long. There’s a solid 3 book series buried somewhere inside these stretched out plotlines and repetitive arguments.

Overall: loved the men, wanted to punch her.

This was such a strong ending to the series. Honestly, what a ride.

After everything these characters have been through, this final book really felt like the culmination of it all. When I first started the series, I wasn’t entirely sure how I felt about it, but this one completely won me over. It’s easily one of my favourites in the series.

The world-building, the lore, the magic, everything just comes together so well here. You can really feel how much the story has grown. And the found family element? That was one of my favourite parts. After following these characters for five books, you can’t help but feel attached to them and fully invested in their journey.

I will say, some of the battle scenes felt a little bit over the top at times, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience for me.

More than anything, this book felt like a full-circle moment. It’s not necessarily the most mind-blowing fantasy I’ve ever read, but it’s one I genuinely enjoyed and loved being immersed in. It’s the kind of story that takes you on a journey and lets you grow alongside the characters, and that’s what made it so satisfying.

Overall, a really enjoyable, immersive, and heartfelt conclusion to the series.

Briony and her Mates come into their own

Wow! This book took me through a range of emotions, from the desperation of rescuing the princes from the tower. From hoping that Briony would find the answers she needed at the Academy so they could defeat the empress, to wanting to throw my Kindle when the unthinkable happens in Slate Quarter. I had hoped she'd find hope and answers there, but instead she found heartbreak and also hope.
This book had you going from the high of Briony and Thorne finally coming together as a couple, able to touch one another, to something cruel and terrible happening. Yet each of their bonds remained strong, keeping them going.
I love how this author drags you into the story, making you love and even dislike characters, only to crush your heart in some way as the tale unfolds—even redeeming some of the characters you disliked. Her storytelling is unique in some ways, in that she can make you feel a certain way towards someone you thought was the bad guy.
If I could have given this final chapter to this story more than 5 🌟 I would have.

I loved the beginning of the series, I think the tension between the characters was good. I am a bit disappointed aboout the last book. Some part of the story was left unresolved and it gelt rushed, like something’s missing.
For exemple, the drug used to strengthen the characters was not developed enough. Where does it come from, who is the mystery man selling them ( though he might have been from behind the demon realm which would have opened something for another book). The emperess was just mean for no reason? When she called them young and stupid, I was so sure that something else was going on, that maybe she knew a greater evil was beyond the demon land, and that keeping it was the only way to save the realm from it.
What the story of Brionny’s mother?
How did all the enemy’s become stronger randomly during the last battle?
And the two other firestones? What was the purpose of finding them, they did not change anything to the story.
In short, I was so sure that another book will follow this one to explain everything that I was left a bit dissatisfied.
I would still recommande the book as I had fun reading it🫡

This has been a wilddd ride!! I have been dreading this story ending but the ending was so wholesome! This story has ripped my heart out put it back in and then ripped it out some more! So I finished this series and I told myself I needed to finish this series this week so I don’t have to wait till next week as I needed to know how it ended asap. I have been so invested in this series and with how it ended. I have been so invested since I started the very first book. This was the very first series I have read from this author and I was seriously so hooked from like the very first sentence of the first book. I chose to read and listen to the Audiobooks and now I can just hear the voices from those actors they did an amazing job I especially enjoyed all the cute nicknames throughout it. With what happened to Claire that got me I was a mess I was not expecting that tear jerker I seriously thought for some reason and she was gonna come back to life lol but the ending then again I was in tears again. Seriously though I really enjoyed the development with these characters and the growth they had. I will seriously be listening/reading the series again. I’m looking forward to reading more of this authors books and other series she has. Thank you for this beautiful series 💜

Flame of Fortunes is the fifth and final book in The Firestone Academy series written by Hannah Haze.

💜 found family
💜 fated mates
💜 corruption
💜 secrets exposed
💜 🌶🌶🌶 spice

We pick up in the beginning of this book where the last book left off. Briony can’t believe what just happened. Thankfully. Blaze was there and quick to react or she would have been taken too. Beaufort, Dray, and Thorne are gone and she doesn’t know where they were taken. But first she has to risk it and land to see if she can find Fox. Will she find Fox ok? Will she get the three men back? What about this whole mess with the Empress?will Briony ever find peace with her mates?

This was a good conclusion to this series. The world building and character building continued through this book and was well done. There were a lot of twists and turns that happened throughout the book as well. I really enjoyed how everything ended up coming together and how things were explained. This was a really fun series to read.

So thankful I got to read the arc!

I can’t believe it’s the ending of the series already but it was honestly so perfect! I loved getting to see the characters continued growth throughout the book and all working together, especially the guys as they all worked on accepting their dynamics. A few of the scenes were honestly really heartbreaking but I personally think that just makes a happy ending feel so much more well deserved and fought for. The epilogue with Blaze and the new additions to blaze’s family was top tier

Also a a hug shoutout to Hannah Haze for writing such amazing books SO fast. The first book in the series was published my first or second semester of medical school, I’m just about the finish my second year and the fact that she finished an ENTIRE 5 book series without an amazing plot before I could even finish preclinical is honestly so iconic.

I finished this book a while ago and I've taken a bit of time to gather my thoughts. Briony and her story have been a big part of my reading life for a while now. Im not sure im ready to say goodbye completely. This last book (book 5 in the series) is such a great read. It feels like so much happens in such a small amount of time, the sense of urgency is definitely reflected in the fact that it is so hard to put down! This series has all the tropes I love, the professor and the student, the arrogant prince, the wolf shifter with golden lab energy and the tall, dark, huge and silent guy that can't touch because of his uncontrollable powers. Briony is the fierce underdog from a scrappy begining who wants to know what happened to her sister. I have adored this series and this ending was perfection!

I’m not okay. I’m not okay! Miss Haze!? What have you done to my heart??

This is the last part of Brionys and her men’s story and as I’ve said before, IM NOT OKAY! Laughter, happiness, tears and complete and utter heartbreak. Iykyk.

Even though I cried, I really liked it! It was a good ending to this story. More plot focused than the other part of this series which I really liked. It worked so well with the wholeness of the series and really balanced it out with all the previous spice. Don’t get me wrong, there is spice but the spicy level in this one is toned down a lot. BUT, it works! Please read this series and by all means, listen to the audiobooks too, they are magical!

Thank you miss Haze for the opportunity to cry in public while reading this ARC. I adore you and this series so much. I can’t wait to read the future series you concoct together. THANK YOU! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

solid series! will likely come back to read it again~

It’s over! Five books and we are finally leaving the academy. I really did enjoy this series. The characters were memorable and lovable and I’ll have a bit of a hard time walking away from them. The overall story was solid and engaging and just good. I will say that the final boss battle was a little disappointing. I know it’s so hard to create climactic moments, but the power of love winning wars is just something I’m a little over. It’s almost too Deus ex machina for me. There were also some crazy twists and turns, but I actually thought they were well integrated. I was an emotional wreck for a solid three or four chapters. I wish we got more Fly at the end because he’s perfect, but overall, amazing. Glad I found this series.
