Sprigs of Tansy
Nine years ago, Hermione Granger created a plan to become Minister of Magic by the time she turned 60. As part of that plan she knew she needed a husband and two children to convince the public to support her.
She is now approaching her thirty-fourth birthday and is still single, though not for lack of trying. She's questioning her dating methodology as friends grow distant, her parents age, her fertile years are peaking, and the professional goals she created at twenty-five are starting to become harder to cling to. She knows she needs something to change, but that's easier said than done when Draco Malfoy won't leave her the fuck alone.
As for Draco, there's nothing quite as alluring as an angry Hermione Granger, and that's why he's been teasing her for the last ten years. It's only when he comes up with his best idea yet - and gets himself assigned as her security detail for an event that absolutely does not require it - that he starts to peel back the layers and sees her for who she really is. She's more than just a beautiful witch with a fierce temper. She's flawed, lonely, and starting to burn out.
Draco knows he can help. He just needs to her to say yes first.

I never review fanfiction bc I know the authors don't usually want us to but her IG is private and I don't have a registered account to leave it on the fic itself, so in case she sees this, I wanted her to know how much this fic meant to me.
This fic was so hilarious but at the same time, the author captured Hermione's loneliness so deeply in the first half of the book and not her unmarried loneliness but her loneliness in her friendships in way that made me feel so seen. And that she could write from that POV without being unmarried herself made me feel validated in my loneliness. The whole scene with Harry and then the hamper made me cry bc I understood Hermione's desperation / hopelessness / heartbreak so profoundly.
And the author does all this without bashing Ron or Harry bc they really do love Hermione and are just oblivious and are horrified once they realize what Hermione is going through. Also at the same time acknowledging that Hermione is a deeply flawed protagonist bc she has her walls up and can't communicate how hurt she is. But she's stuck like I am bc what do you do when the last five friends you've asked to hang out with you leaves you on read? Not bc they don't love you but bc their life has moved on without you? But I think one of things that helps the most when I'm in this kind of depression is just the acknowledgement that the feelings aren't my own fault and when Draco tells Ron and Harry how much Hermione misses them, they don't just make excuses or try to blame Hermione, or worse, do nothing.
I especially appreciated that even though this is a manipulative / possessive Draco, that he isn't that about Ron and Harry and encourages their friendship with Hermione. As much as I love the Dramione in this (although I think I actually love S and J's real life relationship in the ANs even more), I think Hermione's happily ever after wouldn't have been complete without the Golden Trio together again. I appreciate this side of Draco here the most not bc he's her love interest but bc he's her advocate. Bc the author acknowledges that the scariest thing for Hermione is what if she tells Ron and Harry and they don't care? So it's nice that Draco can do that for her bc if Ron and Harry push back, Hermione never has to know or be even more hurt. I love that the author doesn't just make it so that once Hermione and Draco are together that that's not the be all end all but that he's a partner that wants her to have close friends, too.
I'm also glad that even with all of Hermione's pain that the hurt/angst was minor compared to how funny the story was. And although the above was what resonated with me, the hilarity, flirt, cleverness was all that encompasses my favorite kind of Dramione. The banter was so good and I was cackling at the rings and the ED makeup pranks and as an American I loved the DC (I interned and lived there one summer in college) and Vegas (loved them experiencing an American grocery story 😂 and especially bc I've eaten at Joël Robuchon's) trips. The side characters were such a bonus - Narcissa embracing muggle technology but with all caps texting, Panville with a besotted Neville and chaotic Pansy, and awkwardly sweet NottPott (happy Pride!).

Okay I really liked the friendships in this one. I don’t like when they villainize Ron and enjoy when they’re actually friends. Same with Harry, I like them keeping a friendship that has grown with age. Loved the dynamic with Pansy. Really enjoyed this one and the mystery.

these two are some freaky ahhh but draco was such a simp for her like he worshipped the ground she walked on. but i felt like this was a bit too long but they were cute so it’s okay.
