Welcome to Steaming Stone, where even the woodsman is charming…Author Edara Lauklan escapes to the small town of Steaming Stone, North Carolina in the hopes of getting away from her past and focusing on her impending deadline. She doesn’t expect her new landlord, Alaric Wülf, to be so dreamy or become the inspiration she was searching for. From day one, he inspires her left and right, pulling her out of her writer’s block with each conversation they have.
Soon, she finds herself not wanting to leave the adorable town or her charming host.
But when reality comes crashing down—reminding Edara of the reasons she escaped to begin with—she has to decide whether to go down the path she knows or the path she wants.

I was lucky enough to meet Stevie and buy a gorgeous special edition copy of this book at a local book festival.
This is the first book in what will be an interconnected series but can be read as a standalone. I love that this story takes place in Raleigh,NC and the NC mountains- all local to me. The author’s note mentions this story is loosely connected to Little Red Riding Hood.
The FMC is an author who is being stalked by a man she met through a dating app. She gets tired of being afraid in her own home in Raleigh and decides to escape to the mountains to finish book 6 of a series she is writing. The MMC is the person she rents her mountain escape from. This book ends with a HEA.
Two very important characters are the FMC and the MMC’s dogs. The German shepherd in this book takes after Stevie’s personal dog. She told me each book in the series will feature dogs that are part of her personal life in some way. While I can’t wait to see which couple book 2 will be about I am just as excited to meet the new dog!
I don’t normally read this genre, but genuinely could not put this one down! This book delivers everything a fall lover could want, from ideal fall dates to the coziest fall recipes (AND two dogs who are basically main characters). I felt like I was sitting in Boone for the perfect fall weekend.
If you like the “don’t fall in love with me” and protector trope you will definitely enjoy Range of Heart. I also always enjoy a dual POV, and boy does Ric deliver on his end…
Also- my jaw was on the floor for the last few chapters. I could not read fast enough and I was feeling stressed for my girl Eda!!! I am so glad Stevi decided to bring light to the very difficult and sensitive topic of stalking, and demonstrate the importance of a strong support system.
TLDR: you MUST read if you love dogs, cozy fall weekends, small town romance, protector trope, and spice

I am very appreciative of Stevi Evelise and their team for the opportunity to read an e-ARC of Range of Heart!
This was such an entertaining, fast-paced read! I love when the MC is an author, so Range of Heart was such a fun read! Alaric is so sweet to Edara—I only wish we got more time with them! And when Alaric refers to Edara as his home!!
I loved the addition of Elessar and Blanche, they added so much heart and warmth to the story! I also enjoyed the found family aspect of this story: Edara finding a new group of friends to trust.
I was fortunate enough to be one of Stevi’s Beta readers for Range of Heart. When I tell you, I fell in love with this book, that is an understatement. I love Edara and Alaric. I love their fur babies! I love the setting in the mountains of North Carolina. The writing is beautiful and heartfelt. Yes, the villain is awful and Stevi really makes you hate him, which he rightly deserves. I can’t wait to see what else happens in the series!
