Kate is the USA Today-bsetselling author of many books of both historical and contemporary fiction. Under the name Katharine Swartz, she is the author of the Tales from Goswell books, a series of time-slip novels set in the village of Goswell.

Escape to Lighthouse Cove by Kate Hewitt was another heartwarming and beautifully written book from start to finish and I just love the way Kate writes and it is always from her heart. This book was no different, once I started to read the very first few pages I just knew I will end up reading it until I had finished. It was an emotional romance with brilliant characters Grace and Noah, and they their own emotional baggage to work through which was set on a beautiful island in Maine.

I highly recommend this book and so I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

Oh, este libro fue lindo, fue acogedor y me hizo pensar mucho en la vida y las segundas oportunidades que uno mismo se da.

Nuestra protagonista Grace enfrenta un mal divorcio y se va a una pequeña isla a trabajar con su pequeño hijo, y cuando digo pequeña isla es pequeña ya que cuenta con sólo 12 habitantes. Digo que fue lindo en la manera en la que nuestra protagonista se encuentra con ella misma y eso es algo que me gusta leer, como ella vuelve a florecer y se da cuenta de que siempre estuvo allí solo tenía que despertar un poco y ver como la relación con su hijo vuelve al buen camino fue lo mejor.

Noah por otro lado, su historia es una historia de duelo y culpa, es de esas historias que hacen que tu corazón se encoge de tristeza por los personajes y aquí no fue la excepción, todo con la muerte de su hermano y él como Grace y su hijo le recuerdan un poco a él hacen que mi corazón duela por el.

Tiene un romance lindo pero como los otros libros de esta autora, siento que no va de ellos si no de superación, tanto Noah como Grace hicieron todo lo posible para volver a ser ellos mismos antes de enamorarse entre ellos (bueno, si tienen sentimientos pero no hicieron nada hasta estar bien)

Fue un buen libro, que recomiendo si te gustan las historias ligeras pero con un significado enorme.

Oh, this book was lovely, it was comforting and really made me think a lot about life and the second chances we give ourselves.

Our protagonist, Grace, is going through a difficult divorce and moves to a small island to work with her young son—and when I say “small island”, I mean it’s really small, with only 12 residents. I say it was lovely because of the way our protagonist rediscovers herself and that’s something I love to read about. Seeing her blossom again and realize that she was always there, she just had to wake up a little and watching her relationship with her son get back on track was the best part.

Noah, on the other hand, has a story of grief and guilt—it’s one of those stories that make your heart ache with sadness for the characters, and this one was no exception. With the death of his brother, and the fact that Grace and her son remind him a little of his brother, it really makes my heart ache for him.

There’s a sweet romance, but like the author’s other books, I feel it’s not really about them—it’s about overcoming obstacles. Both Noah and Grace did everything they could to get back to being their true selves before falling in love with each other (well, they had feelings, but they didn’t act on them until they were both in a good place).

It was a good book, and I recommend it if you like lighthearted stories with deep meaning.

4 ⭐️ — A heartwarming escape to the coast

Escape to Lighthouse Cove was such a comforting and emotional read. I really enjoyed the small-island setting and the feeling of starting over that runs throughout the story. There was something especially appealing about watching Grace leave everything behind and try to build a safe, peaceful life for herself and her son.

Grace was a character I really connected with. After everything she has been through, her desire to protect herself and Jacob makes complete sense, and I appreciated that her journey wasn’t simply about finding another relationship—it was also about rebuilding her confidence and learning to trust again.

Noah was definitely an interesting love interest. He initially comes across as cold, distant, and intimidating, but I enjoyed discovering the softer side underneath that exterior. His relationship with Grace develops gradually, and I particularly liked seeing him connect with Jacob. Those quieter moments added a lot of heart to the story.

The Lighthouse Cove setting was probably my favorite part. The remote Maine island, the nature reserve, the small community, and the feeling of being completely removed from the outside world made this such an escapist read. It gave me that cozy “I want to disappear to a small coastal town” feeling.

I also appreciated that both Grace and Noah have their own emotional baggage to work through. Their relationship isn’t just about attraction; it’s about two people who have been hurt in different ways slowly realizing that they may be able to create something better together.

Overall, Escape to Lighthouse Cove is a sweet, emotional, and easy-to-read romance about starting over, finding safety, and allowing yourself to love again. If you enjoy coastal settings, small communities, guarded characters, and romances centered around healing and second chances, this is definitely worth adding to your TBR.

Escape to Lighthouse Cove by Kate Hewitt is a new series featuring a woman, Grace, who is running from her life. She and her son, Jacob, end up on a private island, Light House Cove, Maine, supervising a protected area. There was no pay involved but there was a house. She was hoping to have the peace she needed to structure her life, after this devastating divorce. But, where was the ferry? When it appeared, it was not a real ferry, it was a fishing boat. Well, only twelve people lived on the island so that was probably all they needed. Isaiah was an elderly, polished man who seemed to take care of things. He showed her to her house which was more like an AirBnb than a cottage, but all was good. He showed her the office, obviously not used in years. And she and Jacob settled in. But where were the people? They spent several days walking the island and one day came upon a seal tangled up in some ropes. Jacob would not let her leave without freeing him, but by then the tide had them trapped. It kept rising until she thought of her penlight and started aiming it at the lighted window in the mansion there.

This turned into quite the story. Jacob hadn’t spoken since the night she’d told him about the divorce. The reason, when it was finally discovered, broke her heart. Mr. Lawrence, Noah, when she finally met him, was a conundrum. The only other people she’d met were Babs, and her daughter and grandson. Grace started off as a mess but she gradually came back to herself. Jacob regained his speech and they grew to love the island. It was a powerful story of abuse, grief, guilt, loneliness, and love. Grace was stronger than she thought and the transition was miraculous. A lovely book.

Grace’s arrival on the tiny island feels like a deep breath — the kind you take when you finally find a place quiet enough to hear yourself think. Lighthouse Cove, with its rugged Maine coastline and population of twelve, is the perfect backdrop for a woman trying to rebuild her life after trauma and scandal.

Grace is instantly relatable. Her fierce protectiveness of Jacob, her exhaustion, her longing for peace — it all feels so genuine. And her first encounter with Noah Lawrence is exactly the kind of prickly, charged moment that makes you lean in. This was a lovely book with lyrical descriptions of the island and the coast. The characters were interesting. Even though the ending was expected by me, it was still enjoyable.

Escape to Lighthouse Cove is the first book in the newest series by Kate Hewitt. Grace and Noah are two wounded hurting souls. The reasons are different for each but hurting just the same. Then there is little Jacob with his own trauma that has left him speechless. As always with Ms. Hewitt’s books, this is an emotionally intense drama with many layers. Like an onion they are revealed or peeled back little by little. Hiding away to heal is the decision made by race and Noah. Grace and Jacob use the clean air and wonderful island as their salve which does help them. For Noah the reclusive lifestyle gives him too much time in his own head. Finding their way is one difficult, painful journey but it must happen before these two can find their way to love. I like how each had to face their past and the people in it. They gained clarity, closure and a clear path ahead.

I especially like the island of Lighthouse Cove off the Maine coast; it had such a strong sense of place. I got to know the island as well as the characters through the views during the walks, the coastline descriptions, the seal scene, the sheer remoteness of it along with its wind swept beauty made it come to life.

Grace and Noah’s love story in Escape to Lighthouse Cove was full of heart, healing, and hard work. Kate Hewitt’s books always have such a warm ambiance of found family in them, and this is no exception. Lighthouse Cove itself truly was the perfect destination for these two to fall in love!

Noah develops such a soft spot for Grace’s son Jacob, and that’s something that totally resonated with me too as a reader. I loved seeing both Grace and Noah interact with Jacob. There was so much tenderness there, and it never failed to make me feel warm inside.

There was definitely some heavier content in this book between Noah’s brother’s passing and Grace’s ex-husband’s actions prior to the start of the story. Both Grace and Noah, as well as Grace’s son Jacob, had a lot of healing to do. They work on that journey together, but it’s definitely something to note prior to going into the story.

Escape to Lighthouse Cove #1 by Kate Hewitt

Escape to Lighthouse Cove is a wonderful start to a new series from Kate Hewitt. Having enjoyed several of her previous books, I was excited to discover this new release, and it certainly lived up to my expectations.

The story introduces Grace and her young son, Jacob, as they leave New York behind in search of a fresh start. Their lives become intertwined with Noah, whose family owns the island where they find themselves. Hewitt creates engaging, believable characters, and the storyline is written in a way that quickly draws you in.

Without giving away any spoilers, I found the story intriguing from the very beginning and remained engaged throughout. There is a lovely sense of mystery and anticipation that kept me turning the pages, wanting to discover what would happen next.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Escape to Lighthouse Cove. It is an engaging and enjoyable read and a fantastic introduction to what promises to be a wonderful new series. I would definitely recommend it to fans of heartwarming romance and stories about new beginnings.

I’m looking forward to returning to Lighthouse Cove for the next book in the series.

Great story!

Grace is recovering from a toxic 12 year marriage; the only good thing from it is her son Jacob. There was gaslighting, emotional abuse and finally physical abuse before she left Brad. She finds an opportunity to use her degree by working on an isolated island called Lighthouse Cove.

There are only a handful of permanent inhabitants on the island and one lives in a castle-type structure. Noah has also fled civilization to live on land his family has owned for hundreds of years. He has no intention of letting anyone into his life, but Jacob reminds Noah of his dead brother and he slowly starts to open his house and heart to Jacob and Grace.

This book had the feel of a Beauty and the Beast story to me, although Noah is far from a beast. He is simply carrying a ton of emotional baggage. Their connection and the way it built, with both of them being hesitant, feel genuine. I also get the impression from the ending that there will be a sequel, I hope so!

I have read quite a few of this author's books and this one is equally as good as the others! I am pretty excited that this is the first book in a series, yay :)

Grace and Noah are the main characters in this story, both of them fragile and damaged people, and both of them hiding out on Lighthouse Cove, a small island off the Coast of Maine, population 7, depending on how many people come over on the boat on any particular day.

Loved the setting of this book - I wish I was younger and I would go and live and work on a small island myself! I have never been to Maine, but I felt like I was kinda there, when I was reading this book, which was lovely.

Grace has come to figure out who she is, again, and she has brought her son Jacob with her. He has some issues as well, which made my mother's heart ache. I also liked the islanders, as quirky as they all were.

Really lovely story that doesn't shy away from trauma but also handled in a sensitive way.

4.5 stars from me.

A compelling story of loss, grief, healing, trust and hope, “Escape to Lighthouse Cove”, by Kate Hewitt, features two wounded, imperfect people and a precocious boy with his own invisible scars.
Noah, Grace and Jacob are wonderful characters: he was the arrogant, invencible hero who lost the zest for life; she has gone through a painful marriage and divorce; the child suffered wordless trauma.
I liked how slowly they begin to heal and trust as they interact, love, fight and enjoy being together, in a hard process, with some back and forth, pain and doubts.
Noah’s wounds and vulnerability are very well written, as is Grace’s hell in her previous life. Jacob is also a great character and the similarity with Jem is a bit eerie.
I loved the setting, Lightouse Cove Island, and the secondary characters; I’ll be waiting for the next installment in the series

a traumatised woman is waiting for the ferry along with her 6 year old son jacob.... they wait silently each nursing their own baggage.....

grace applied for the 6 months job on the isolated island.... where at least 12 people live... but its what she needs as she escaped new york and her ex husband

noah lawrence is also hiding on the island. its his families island and for the past year and half he has become a recluse there so he gets very annoyed at having to rescue grace and jacob on their first week there... to say he doesnt come over well well is an understatement

but the island is what grace and jacob needs and could they be what noah needs.....as he comes to terms with his past

but what a cliff hanger to have at the end.... ohh man i am looking forward to the next book in this series

You had me at "Broken barbie and her weird kid" hell did this make me mad!

Grace and Noah, two very broken souls, thrown together, unknowingly on lighthouse cove, both trying to escape their own past.

Noah is frustratingly rude, arrogant and took me a while to warm to him, but he does redeem himself.
Grace, I loved her and son Jacob from the beginning. Grace initially had a different path that she gave up for husband Brad - coercive and emotional control/abuse sensitively discussed and the impact that had on Jacob, realising why he was mute was maddening and I wish Brad had a bigger consequence.

I loved the good old soul Isaiah and Bab were great. Now im hoping book 2 will be something magical for Becca.

Stars fall was fantastic and this has stated off just as good! 4*

There isn't many people who live in Lighthouse Cove, Noah has lived there 18 months, and has kept to himself. Grace and her six-year-old son Jacob have come to the island, to work for six months. Each of them has had trauma, and hoped this place would help them heal. It is an emotional story, and their journey on the island. I would love to tell you one sentence that will stay with me, maybe forever, but it would be a spoiler, so I won't.
They unravel the past that cause them trauma, and begin to deal with it and look at it, differently. Grace is still trying to figure out why Jacob hasn't talked since she left. Their journey is emotional, but now Noah and Grace decide to become friends, understand the trauma, and finally finding a path that could heal them. This is the first book in The Lighthouse Cove Series, all of the books can be read as a standalone. Grace has a lot of things going on in her life, she needs to escape them and with her son she knows this is the best thing for him too. When she finds a job on a small remote island, she hopes this will be the perfect chance to build her and her son’s life again. But someone does not want her on the island and he will do his upmost to send her away. Both have their secrets, can they find a way to help each other out and be happy ever after? it was one of those stories that you just don’t want to put down, I read it in an afternoon and fell in love with the characters and felt for what they had both been through. Kate has done a great job of the descriptions of the place. I felt as though I wanted to jump into the book and give Grace and her son a hug. I loved it.

I really enjoyed the read. The characters and their emotions are very real. I highly recommend this well told story to anyone who enjoys a romantic novel with great characters and some depth.

I really enjoyed this story. It was a meeting of damaged souls on a remote island. Somehow the very small community manage to work to unravel their complicated histories to create some happiness.

The author covers loss, domestic abuse and trauma in a realistic but respectful way that makes you deeply care about the characters. The descriptions of the island, the weather and even the general atmosphere during conversations are of such wonderful detail that you totally immerse yourself into the book, almost forgetting you’re not actually there. I read this book in two days - I didn’t want to put it down - I needed to know what happened next.

I’m now looking forward to reading the next book to find out how Becca’s story unfolds!

It's an emotional, gently paced story with vibrant characters and many challenges on Grace and Jacob's healing journey. Noah's family owns the island, and he spent happy summers there as a child until tragedy struck. He is reclusive and hurting and not in the mood for visitors. I like the atmospheric setting, the emotional narrative, and the relationship dynamics between Grace and Noah, as well as between Grace and the villagers.

Escape to Lighthouse Cove is a hopeful book whose story centers on Grace, a mother who just moved to the Island to be the new warden and who is taking care of her son, and Noah, a reclusive and grumpy man with unresolved issues from his past.
It is the story of two vulnerable people who struggle with their own burdens but find in each other the solace they might need. Together they might start to heal.
It was an enjoyable read; I loved the island setting and the secondary characters. However, I could not fully connect with Grace and Noah. Loved Jacob, though.
Overall, it was a sweet and heartwarming story, although not my favorite from the author. I know there will be a second book, and I would definitely love to give it a try.

Really enjoy books by Kate Hewitt and this book which is the 1st of a new series didn't disappoint. This is the story of Grace and her young son Jacob who move to Lighthouse Cove after Grace comes out of her marriage, Grace takes the job of wildlife warden running a small nature reserve on the island and things soon get interesting with the owner of the big house. Lovely lighthearted read filled with new beginnings, adventures and new friends.

A great book about friendship, healing and finding yourself. Set in wild and rural island with only a few inhabitants to make friends with forces newly arrived Grace and her son Jacob to find friends fast. Escaping a marriage that was highly toxic and a dangerous Grace takes a job on a remote island. Within days of being on the island they fall into trouble and thank fully catch the eye of Noah a reclusive owner of the island. They find each other to be as broken as the other and an unlikely friendship is formed due to Jacob and Noah’s love of chess. This was a gentle read and it was a great story.

A great new book by Kate Hewitt. Grace leaves New York with her son Jacob after an abusive relationship, she ends up on Lighthouse Cove after accepted a job offer, with only a few residents, she’s hoping it will be good for the both of them. When stranded on the rocks after the tide comes in, Noah the landowner comes to the rescue of them both. Will love blossom between them? It’s a heartwarming read, full of new beginnings, new friendships and learning to grow again. I am really looking forward to the next installment in this series as left on a cliffhanger. 5 brilliant stars. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for a copy.

I started and finished this in a day, very much enjoying it. The main characters and side characters are damaged and complex, and easy to root for.

I really liked this new series starter by Kate Hewitt and with that bit of a cliffhanger, I am definitely looking forward to reading more of Lighthouse Cove.

This was a good story two damaged people finding love.
Grace has escaped a controlling marriage to be a warden on a remote island with her traumatised son. They meet the islands owner Noah who us a recluse not wanting to see people after the death of his twin. Circumstances throw them together and they help each other heal. Both characters were very nice. This was a pleasant read

Loved it. I am eager for more visits to Lighthouse Cove. Not many people live there now but there is potential for more with more stories. The current residents can also reveal their tales. Two damaged individuals heal one another and a young boy. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
