Our ancestors were strong, radiant, primal. They lived in harmony with nature, and their bodies worked. So why are we, centuries later, at odds with both nature and our own bodies?
The explanation is we’ve been sabotaged.
Corporate interests and greedy marketing have convinced us that we need pills, shakes, and gurus to lose weight and feel our best. In Get Sexy, Girlfriend!, Candi and Thomas Frazier change the narrative on health and weight loss, showing how to reconnect with the natural—and sexy—version of yourself that nature intended. Their seven Principles of Nature feature strategies for unlocking optimal health, including understanding the body’s fuel system, following your circadian rhythm, and utilizing natural light as your most powerful multivitamin. With personal stories, professional experiences, and refreshing candor, Get Sexy, Girlfriend! is your no-nonsense guide for taking back your health, once and for all.
If you already follow Candi Frazier and her content, a lot of what’s in Get Sexy, Girlfriend! will feel familiar. Most of the themes and encouragement are things she’s already shared online. That said, I still found value in seeing everything laid out in one place, especially with a little more insight into how she actually coaches women.
I appreciated that this book gives you a taste of her coaching mindset. If you’re not in a position to invest in her course, this is a great way to get started and gives you enough direction to research, reflect, and begin making changes on your own.
The advice around confidence, femininity, and even your sex life was solid and thought-provoking. It wasn’t shocking or overly explicit, just honest and encouraging. It made me pause and think about how much of our confidence really does start with how we view ourselves and our worth.
Overall, this was a motivating and practical read. Not groundbreaking if you already know her work, but still helpful, empowering, and a great introduction if you’re new to her message.
I came across Candi on a podcast and was hoping this book would go more into the mechanisms of insulin metabolism and how to eat in a more ancestral way - more of a guide, I guess. I was hoping she would lay out her primal bod program with actionable advice such as exercises to do, and how they affect insulin metabolism, or some examples of things to eat/recipes or at least things to avoid. But she wrote that her program can't be covered in a book. If that's what you're looking for, then you're going to be disappointed. She does cover a few principles to live by, and don't get me wrong, they are good principles. However, if you already know and believe that the sun is not your enemy but essential, to follow your circadian rhythm, to eat nothing that humans didn't eat a couple hundred years ago, then you're going to be disappointed. There won't be any revelations in this book if you've ever listened to a Huberman or Saladino podcast.
GREAT book, great program, authentic teacher/author!
I truly loved this book and the Primal Bod program. I invested in the program and experienced meaningful, lasting results. I lost a total of 17 pounds — even while traveling for work and not following the program 100% of the time — which speaks to how practical and sustainable it is.
More importantly, as someone living with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune condition that requires careful balance and awareness, this program was transformative. By combining food sensitivity testing with Candi’s guidance and the Primal Bod principles, many of my Hashimoto’s symptoms have diminished significantly. I feel healthier, more confident, and genuinely hopeful that I am moving toward remission.
Beyond the physical results, what stood out most was the heart behind the work. Although I don’t know Candi personally, my interactions with her through the Primal Bod platform reflected authenticity, care, and deep integrity. There is real compassion in her teaching, and it’s clear she has earned her expertise through dedication and lived knowledge.
I am grateful for this program and for the intention behind it. Cheers to Candi for sharing her wisdom in a way that truly supports healing and empowerment.
I won this book as a Goodreads Giveaway. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect since I was not previously familiar with Candi Frazier, but I found this book quite interesting. If you don't like foul language, this book might not be for you. But I found her writing to be entertaining and the foul language was only used for emphasis (and humor). I really liked the way she described the processes your body goes through with insulin, glucose, cortisol, melatonin, etc. I found this to be the clearest description I ever read which helped me truly and finally understand the process your body goes through and why. While it's difficult to make a lot of the changes that are recommended since we live in the world that we do, I really like the suggestions and this gives me the motivation to make some baby steps to make my body happier. This was a great read!
I rarely write reviews this negative, but the misinformation in this book is too glaring to ignore. The entire premise is built on the "ancestral health" fallacy—the ignorant idea that early humans were somehow "healthier" than us. This is historically false; early humans struggled with malnutrition, parasites, and massive mortality rates. Survival is not the same as thriving. Beyond the bad history, the science here is nonexistent. The author makes wild claims that ignore crucial modern data and physiology. The logic is inconsistent and the advice is outdated. This is a collection of false claims masquerading as health advice. Avoid this.
Loved this book. I’ve spent my life trying to be “healthy” and at 50+, overweight, insomniac, and recovering from an emergency gall bladder surgery DESPITE following the current “health” trends my whole life (eg, drink more chia seed and spinach smoothies) realizing how far I’ve come from the mark. I did ALL THE THINGS and still somehow ended up here?! This book has the answer for that, and I know that I KNOW that things are different going forward. Highly recommend. Just waiting for the sun to come up so I can get out in it.
She took the last 15 years of deep dive research my husband and I have done on proper human nutrition and the importance of the sun and summarized it all into this book. This was amazing. I wish I could get all my friends and family to read it. They might even jokingly ask if I wrote it, because THIS - ALL OF THIS - is everything I've been spouting off for years. But all summed up and easy to comprehend. Such a good book. Highly recommend!
i love Candi. I follow her on Instagram. Alot of the information in this book is everything she talks about on social media. I was hoping that her book would go more into her diet program but it doesn't. so disappointing. I wish her program wasn't so darn expensive. she does have good insight and information if you are new to her.
I've been following Candi's principles for a few months and was psyched to read her book. The book is practical, backed by science, and really a no-brainer when you think about it. Sleep, sun, real food..... I'm definitely motivated to be more primal!
This book was pretty informative and pretty much brings you back to nature and how we were always meant to be. I'm a part time carnivore but will be mire focused now. Thanks Candi for the no nonsense approach!
I’ve followed her on social media for a while now. I was so excited to see she wrote a book. I couldn’t join her community because I am still breastfeeding my little one but will once I wean her. This book is written with not just facts but also with her playful and straightforward personality. She is real and honest which I think we lack from people these days. Read it! All wonderful information.
Good advice but really nothing new to me. So I am a bit disappointed. For others it could be helpful, but most of it I already heard on her instagram account.
