When the Devil’s son gets kicked out of Hell, all Hell breaks loose—on Earth.

Lucian “Luke” Teivel isn’t just any exile—he’s Lucifer’s son, freshly banished from Hell with no forwarding address and zero explanation. Now he’s stuck in the human world, paying cosmic penance by working for Infernal Affairs, a secret task force that polices supernatural crime and decides whether the guilty belong in prison…or back in the Pit.

Luke’s doing his best to blend in and not burn his petty annoyances when a new partner storms into his life: Detective Sorcha O’Malley. She’s sharp, stubborn, suspicious—and assigned to keep him from indulging in his more demonic tendencies. But Sorcha carries shadows even Luke can’t read.

Just as they’re settling into their begrudging partnership, college students start dropping across Savannah, Georgia. And every clue points directly at Luke. Someone is framing him—someone with a grudge, a plan, and a very personal reason to send him back to Hell.

To survive the setup, Luke and Sorcha must team up against enemies both infernal and annoyingly human. But as the danger escalates and Sorcha’s secrets inch closer to the surface, Luke faces the worst dilemma

Hand over his new partner to the devil
Or be relegated to earth forever.

And if he’s not careful? Savannah might wind up with a fresh vacancy in its homicide department—and one very pissed-off Prince of Hell.

Review of advance copy

I'm a fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon because I've always enjoyed both her humor and the interesting characters she creates. Unfortunately, this entry into a new series seemed long on quips and wisecracks but short on character depth. I loved the idea of the son of Lucifer as part of a law enforcement agency. There are many supernatural characters that he, and his partner, Sorcha, get involved with. But I couldn't connect with the secondary characters as they didn't get enough"screen" time, and with Luke or Sorcha, there were more quips than actual conversation. I finally got into the story about halfway through, when things settled into real character interaction. I think the issue here is that this is a series introduction, which requires some world building and sets up the storyline going forward. I will look for the next book in the series, now that the overall story caught my interest. There are some Christian overtones, with one of the characters saying "Jesus is Lord", for those who care.

This book is a sharp, fast-paced supernatural thriller with irresistible humor and heart. Luke, Lucifer’s banished son, is a fantastic antihero sarcastic, dangerous, and oddly relatable, while Sorcha is the perfect grounded, complex counterbalance. The mystery is gripping, the banter crackles, and the stakes keep rising in the best way. Packed with action, secrets, and a devilishly clever plot, this is an entertaining must-read for fans of urban fantasy and paranormal crime.
