Iron Brotherhood #2

Forged in Fire

I put out fires for a living.
But Mira Vaughn? She’s the one woman who sets me ablaze.

She storms into Anchor Bay convinced the Iron Brotherhood is running a protection racket, all sharp eyes and smart mouth, beautiful, infuriating, and dead wrong. I should push her away. Instead, I’m drawn to her like flame to oxygen.

Working the arsons together turns the heat unbearable. Mira fights her desire, terrified of surrendering to anyone again… but I see the way she reacts to my voice, my touch, my control. She wants it. She wants me.

When the arsonist targets her, keeping my distance stops being an option.
And when he takes her, the world narrows to one

I’ll burn down anything that stands between us.

Because Mira isn’t just a spark in the dark.
She’s the fire I’m meant to claim.

Mira is an Insurance fraud assessor, now she's investigating a series of arson claims all involving businesses belonging to Iron Brotherhood members. Is this a case of organised crime. Then she meets Shaw sargent-in-arms for the brotherhood and also the towns fire assessor. Is he covering up, or is he the arsonist. Shaw is former marines, now he's found brothers in arms with the Iron Brotherhood. These recent fires seem targeted and he intends to find the culprit. Until he meets the Insurance Assessor, she's already made up her mind the Brotherhood is involved and causing these fires to make false claims. But he intends to prove her wrong. The instant chemistry between them is off the charts, but both are professionals with work taking priority. Is the arsonist really targeting club members. Or is there more to these fires. Will the arsonist escalate from just arson to include people. What will Mira do when the arsonist puts her in the cross What will their relationship do to the investigations. This is a brilliant story that not only shows family spirit and protective care for members. It also show trust, honor and commitment to the whole town as well as just the Brotherhood. I can't wait to read more from this series

FORGED IN FIRE is the second instalment in Delta James’ contemporary, adult IRON BROTHERHOOD MC erotic, MC romance series. This is former Marine, turned arson investigator and Iron Brotherhood MC SAA Riley Shaw, and insurance fraud investigator Mira Vaughn’s story line. FORGED IN FIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise including some scenes of Dom/sub, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Shaw and Mira) FORGED IN FIRE follows in the wake of a series of fires at business with connections to the Iron Brotherhood MC. Mira Vaughn is an insurance fraud investigator and from the outset, Mira believes the MC is responsible but with the help of SAA Riley Shaw, our couple begin a deeper dive into the targeted business discovering a possible connection to someone else.

The world building focuses on the search for the truth as Mira and Shaw grow closer together. Shaw recognizes Mira’s struggles for control; Mira battles between head and heart with her attraction to a man she believes may be guilty.

The relationship between Mira and Shaw begins acrimoniously but quickly turns into something more. Shaw offers Mira a way to let go but the demons from her past are preventing our heroine from moving forward. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include the return of VP Cole Holloway, President Will Lawson, and MC member Tate. We are introduce to Fire Marshall Davis, Detective Perez, and several locals and business people who live in Anchor Bay. The requisite evil has many faces.

FORGED IN FIRE is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, obsession and madness, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is fast paced, intriguing and suspenseful; the romance is seductive; the characters are determined and desperate.

This is the second book, in what is turning out to be a great series. Although I would urge reading the first book, simply because it is a great story, this can easily be read as a standalone.
Mira Vaughn is an insurance fraud assessor, she is good at her job and when her inbuilt antennae vibrates to say fraud, Mira is the person to uncover it ............ her antennae is vibrating now and, power dressed to show that she means business, laptop and notebook at the ready, she prepares to meet Riley Shaw, Anchor Bay's fire assessor and Sergeant in Arms to the Iron Brotherhood MCC.
The Iron Brotherhood was founded by former marines who loved their bikes but also wanted to do good for the Anchor Bay community, they were well respected despite their bikes, their dress and their tattoos but Mira Vaughn had got the bit between her teeth, she had been investigating a series of fires all of which had a connection to the Iron Brotherhood MCC, she smelled Insurance fraud and she was going to prove it, what she hadn't banked on was the calm tenacity of Shaw who was going to fight tooth and nail to prove their innocence, she either fought with him or he would do it alone.
The attraction between Mira and Shaw, although hostile on the surface, was shimmering underneath, Mira listened when Shaw spoke and cracks in her theories began to show so, with a degree of reluctance, she decided to work with him.
As the fires continued, Shaw and Mira began to build a case and the attraction between them became combustive, but their lives were in danger, Will Lawson, President of the Iron Brotherhood Cole Holloway, Vice President and all the rest of the close knit brothers, adopted Mira as one of their own and the might of the club was thrown in to protect her.
Who was trying to frame the MCC and why ? This is a gripping story that will leave you yearning for the next one in the series.

Mira Vaughn is an Insurance fraud investigator, coming to Anchor Bay, Oregon to investigate suspicious fires, all involving the Iron Brotherhood MC members and their businesses.
Shaw Riley is the Fire investigator for the Anchor Bay Fire Department and doesn't like Mira's tone when she insinuates that it looks like a fraud racket and she is getting to the bottom of it so her insurance company does not have to pay out anymore claims.
the story starts of with that immediate chemistry that burns behind their personas. Both Shaw and Mira refusing to acknowledge that pull between them.
It soon becomes evident that is indeed is not fraud and Mira finds herself on the back of Shaw's Harley heading towards another fire, and another investigation.
Working together, in close proximity leads to Shaw knowing what Mira needs....but does she want it?
Taking her to The Forge, a club built by the brotherhood with minimal members. Shaw leads Mira into a scene, but she soon yellow's out, as she has triggers that he soon learns are from an ex.
Shaw being a Dom is keen to keep Mira close, but after their time at the Forge, she backs away, keeping her distance.
All whilst there are recurring fires and the investigation is heating up.
All bets are off when Mira is targeted.
Putting their differences aside, they choose to work together, with Shaw insisting she stay with him to keep her safe.
In close quarters, together, working long hours to find the arsonist, feelings intensify.
Not a lot of heat in this story and would of loved an epilogue that included a fully complete scene at The Forge, but was not to be....Sad face here as I do like it when Delta lets go once in a while!
That aside, an overall well written drama filled story with plenty of leads to determine who the arsonist was and how they track him down.
And of course the inevitable HEA for Shaw and Mira as she chooses him, her future and the Iron Brotherhood MC.

This second book in the Iron Britherhood series focuses around a series of arson cases that have recently plagued the club brothers. Shaw Riley is a member of the Iron Brotherhood, but also an arson Investigator, putting him in a uniquely appropriate position to be able to gather information about who may be behind the arson. Mira is the insurance Investigator, and before she even arrives on scene she's certain the Brotherhood are running an arson scam to defraud the insurance company. After all, bikers are a bunch of criminals. To say these two clash is the understatement if the year. I loved that Shaw wasted no time in letting her know that if she wanted access she would need him - like it or not, and that she needed to look at ALL the evidence - not just what she could skew to fit her preconceived idea. Oh boy, it was on! Mira was someone who held a tight grip on control, always. When she reluctantly agrees to work with Shaw to try and identify the arsonist (okay, MAYBE she was a bit hasten in judgement) she's not about to give up that control... right? Shaw has a way of setting her at ease that she's not used to. These two have an unusual relationship, and I was pleased the majority of the book focused on the arson suspence rather than the private club. There were still several steamy scenes where Delta didn't disappoint.😉

Insurance investigator Mira Vaughn is tasked with investigating several fires involving the property of the Iron Brotherhood. The Brotherhood is comprised of former military who have settled in Anchor Bay and opened their businesses. When one of the Brotherhood loses his business due to a fire, insurance covers the loss. When a second business is set on fire, then a third, Mira is sent to investigate. She will need to work with Riley Shaw, Sergeant at Arms and a trained fire investigator. She views the damage by this recent fire, and notes that the business was planning to expand, as had others, when a fire destroyed the structures. The insurance company, her company, paid the claims. As she works closely with Riley, they soon realize that they are dealing with arson. Is Riley and his Brotherhood running a scam or are they, as he claims, being set up by someone? She follows the paper trail through those who had expressed an interest in the buildings that were destroyed and finally, a solid lead for them to follow. When she is physically targeted and receives threatening messages, Riley vows to keep her safe as he seeks a personal relationship and lifestyle with her that has her questioning her feelings for him. When a murder occurs, will they find the arsonist before more lives are lost? A thrilling race from beginning to the very satisfying end! I did not like Mira at the beginning of this book. No ma'am, not at. She came in with preconceived notions, guns blazing. Shaw stood his ground determined to protect the Iron Brotherhood. And then I did like Mira.

What I really liked was the way Mira and Shaw ended up compromising. It was gradual, and then they really connected. Mira was truly professional in the way she was able to keep an open mind once she started her investigation.

I thought the arson information and the way they dug into it was interesting. I loved the scene with Mira outside of the grocery story. Shaw and Mira didn't spend as much time in the Forge as I thought they might. I did appreciate the way they worked through Mira's baggage.

The pace of this book was steady while at the same time seeming like a very quick read. The suspense was there, but it wasn't intense. I felt like the book focused on the relationships between Mira, Shaw, and the Brotherhood as much, if not more, than the arson fires. The arson fires and the investigation was more technical than suspenseful. I didn't get that real feeling of suspense until events became more personal.

Mira had a job that was very important to her. I would have liked a bit more background on Mira's past as well as more info on how Mira and Shaw were going to navigate their future.

Insurance investigator Mira Vaughn arrives in Anchor Bay, Oregon prepared to do what it takes to prove that the string of fires that have destroyed local businesses are not only arson, but insurance fraud. The businesses are all tied to a local MC and the fire investigator on the cases, Shaw Riley, is a member of the Iron Brotherhood MC. Mira is sure the MC is dirty and Shaw is likely setting the fires himself. There is too much evidence pointing that way, just no actual proof...yet.

Shaw knows the fraud investigator suspects the Brotherhood is burning down their own businesses for the insurance money, but he knows better. Since the evidence is pointing right at them, someone is trying to set them up as the obvious suspects. He just needs to show the sexy woman who is dogging his investigations, that she is barking up the wrong tree. He knows once he changes her trail she will be an asset to him. She is obviously smart and determined and he is drawn to her dedication. Together, they will be unstoppable.

A simply wonderful read, characters Mira and Shaw and the way that they were able to worked together
I loved the arson information and the way that they actually proceeded to dig into the fire, the in depth look in to the arson and I thought that the professional way that she looked into the actual arson case was so well explained and the facts and the excellent way it has been written was a real pleasure.
I liked the way that Mira and the time she spent at the grocery store was explained and I although Shaw and Mira did not spend as much time in the Forge but the way that they both worked so diligently through the clues and also through Mira’s baggage until they had the answer.
The story was shared between the arson fires and the consequent investigations, the stars Mira and Shaw and also with the Brotherhood. This was a simply wonderful read, I loved the way the story developed and on the actual outcome.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

Great motorcycle club story. MC’s are often DEEP into illegal activities (guns, drugs, protection) and have few redeeming traits (work some legal jobs, provide security/ protection). The Iron Brotherhood is made up mostly of veterans who value brotherhood outside the military. Their jobs, businesses are legitimate but they will use judicious force to protect their own if needed. Shaw uses skills he learned as a Marine in his work as a firefighter and arson investigator. He is supportive and protective of both his brotherhood and Mira. Mira comes in with some preconceived ideas (all MC’s are criminals) but finds she’s wrong as Shaw openly lets her into the investigation. They find they are more productive together than separately and working together, they balance each other in methods as well as in their D/s relationship, despite her having been abused before. Shaw is an ethical, supportive Dom who accepts her and moves at her pace. An exciting, suspenseful, steamy read.

This book was very enjoyable to read. It seemed to have a much more MC vibe than the first book had, and I enjoyed that one as well. Shaw and Mira start off clashing as soon as they meet. Mira works as an arson investigator for the insurance business and she arrives with preconceived notions, simply because she believes the MCs are corrupt/crooked. But that is not the case. Shaw, a fire investigator belongs to the MC Club. Luckily for both, Mira, while set in her beliefs is willing to opening her mind to other possibilities. They soon find themselves in the middle of a much larger arson problem. As they move closer to finding out who is behind all the arsons happening, their attraction to each other grows. As they rush to find the arsonist and stop future fires, Mira changes her preconceived beliefs about the MC. This is very fast paced story that accelerates as each and every new fire is set. As the danger increases, Shaw will, with his brothers help, ensure Mira remains safe until they can close the case. Very enjoyable.

Shaw and Mira’s story is packed with tension, mystery, and just the right spark of chemistry. Shaw, a former Marine demolition expert and now Sergeant-at-Arms for his local MC, is determined to uncover who’s targeting the brotherhood’s businesses with a string of suspicious fires. The destruction hits close to home, and the pressure is on before anyone else loses everything.

Enter Mira, an insurance investigator who begins noticing patterns at each scene. She’s sharp, observant, and not easily intimidated—exactly what Shaw doesn’t expect but definitely needs. I loved how their paths kept crossing as the clues slowly unraveled, keeping me constantly guessing about what was really going on and who was behind it.

The suspense builds steadily, and the race to stop the destruction before more businesses go up in flames makes this one hard to put down. A great mix of intrigue, teamwork, and chemistry woven into the larger brotherhood storyline.

An outstanding read as Shaw Riley, fire investigator for Anchor Bay, Oregon worked diligently to discover who was setting fires to burn down businesses associated with the Brotherhood. After, the fourth fire insurance investigator Mira Vaughn showed on the scene with the theory the fires were all insurance fraud. Mira and Shaw went at each other battling back and forth. Then there was a fifth fire not related to the the Brotherhood that gave them a new clue. Someone was trying to strong arm each business into doing business with them. Finally, Mira began to see things more Shaw's way, but the sexual tension was so strong at this point it was palpable. Mira was a strong independent woman with submissive tendencies for the bedroom. Only her ex had her running scared. Shaw being the Dom that he was tried to help her see she was normal in every way. Would they be able to solve the case and find their way to happily ever after?

This is Mira and Shaw's book. Book two in Iron Brotherhood. This one was interesting, but two things kept it from a five. The action was mostly told not really felt. It was as if they were telling the story to someone months after it happened. The other was this is the second book and Gemma -from the first book was nonexistent. Mira had experienced trauma and Gemma should have helped. Stop disappearing characters from prior books.

With this book, Mira is an insurance investigator who thinks there's fraud and the Club is involved. She informs her company and starts building a case. The company is never brought up again really. Shaw things the fires have ties to the Club but can't figure out how and tries to work with Mira to find out what really happened. Mira has a left turn in thinking and then the story starts to take off. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

She is an insurance fraud investigator sent to Anchor Bay to investigate fires in business's owned by or connected in some way to the Iron Brotherhood MC. Mira Vaughn is a professional and very good at her job, but Shaw Riley fire investigator and Sergeant-at-Arms for the Brotherhood, knows as well as Mira that the four fires are arson. That they will need to work together to prove what he already knows, someone is setting up his club, his family. Professional lines are blurred by mutual attraction, but when the arsonist targets Mira, Shaw will do anything necessary to keep her safe.
This author's characters are always fascinating with complex personalities and they are also0 realistic. I loved them. This is a must-read suspenseful former military romance with some action, steam, an interesting twist, and a happily ever after.

This story could be read as a standalone. I loved both Shaw and Mira. Their first encounter was fiery. She thinking she is right about fraud even though she doesn't have all of the facts. To me I loved how her bias towards the Brotherhood slowly changed to actually looking at the facts instead of trying to find only what would make her conclusion meet what she thought was correct.

I liked the way Shaw was constant. Showing her what she missed , yet not making her feel small . Alpha to the core. His commands are to be obeyed.

I loved the suspense, the seat of your pants action , steam to the eventual romance and of course the HEA for them.

I also loved that the Brotherhood stood by her and protected her.

A detailed, but quick read capturing how preconceived assumptions play a role until it's changed dramatically. Mira Vaughn, fraud investigator, came convinced that she can proof the insurance claims are fraudulent, to Anchor Bay. She saw the Iron Brotherhood MC as a bunch of criminals. Shaw Riley wore his kutte with pride, the brotherhood is family. Initially they treat one another with hostility. A slow burn where trust has to be build, she has to overcome her past experiences. Will she be able to accept that with Riley comes the man, the Marine and the Dom and with the Brotherhood comes protection, found family, but also morally gray areas? The focus is more on the investigation and the growth in the relationship with a little suspense towards the end.

Mira is an insurance investigator who is trying to prove fraud in a bunch of fires that surround the Iron Brotherhood MC. Riley is an MC member but also works for the fire department and is trying to prove that although these fires are arson, someone else is trying to set up the MC. I actually liked how these two sparked with each other, but eventually learned to pool their resources and work together. And the BDSM spicy scenes were good too. The lack of a star comes from some confusion with the storyline. I couldn't understand how some of these businesses were supposedly aligned with the MC, but they weren't aware the man coming to them wasn't an MC member. The author also mentioned she tried to improve the MC elements of the story but I still am not convinced I would label this an MC story. Thankfully we get a good HEA for our couple.

This is a fascinating story about the MC Brotherhood, arson, danger, murder, and slow burning love. Shaw Riley is a member of the Iron Brotherhood and a fire investigator for his local fire department. There have been several fires at businesses owned by Brotherhood members. Mira Vaughn is an insurance fraud investigator sent to discover if there are any fraudulent claims connected to the fires. She suspects the Iron Brotherhood is behind the fires and Shaw knows that is it must be someone else. They immediately lock horns!

Mira and Shaw eventually begin to work together, and they act on their mutual attraction. I learned quite a bit about fires and arson from this story and that was a nice side benefit. It was a great read, and I really enjoyed the book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Mira shows up to investigate suspicious fires and suspects an MC is behind everything. Shaw is apart of the brotherhood and is set on proving her wrong.

Mira comes in a bit aggressive with her approach. She had a one track mind about who was causing the fires and already thought the worst of the MC before even meeting them.

Mira and Shaw's relationship comes out of nowhere. He noticed her submissive tendancies and approached her about it. I didn't really feel a connection between them before that.

There's a lot of investigating who set these fires, which was hard to keep track of at times. A lot of information is thrown at you, before we find out who's' actually responsible.

This is the second book in the Iron Brotherhood MC series. When we meet our female lead( Mira) she is completely suffering from tunnel vision. She may know her job but her blinders are definitely affecting her objectiveness.

This story does technically point to one direction and it doesn't look promising. Thankfully as the story unfolds she effectively begins to see another perspective. Her relationship evolves when she accepts assistance from the fire investigator ( Shaw) who she constantly butts heads with.

Overall there is a lot of skepticism , destruction, and repetitiveness involving paper tails. The intense relationship that brings these two investigators together is alluring and tests boundaries. 💜

The romantic side though is heartwarming. Powerful and addictive 🔥

This book has it all tension, drama, full on chemistry with angst and action. Shaw had Marine demolition expect and now since leaving the service he is the Sergeant-at-Arms for his local MC. When someone is starting fires at the MC businesses he is determined to find out the who and why. This man is smart, sexy, stubborn, full of fire and one protector.

Mira is a great and wonderful character who as the insurance investigator, keeps bumping into Shaw and clashing heads. She is feisty, strong, intelligent and a woman that has Shaw on his toes.

Great suspense, twists, chemistry, misunderstanding and fire.

Another fantastic book with Iron Brotherhood patches, these men are ex-military honourable discharges, they seem to have their shops targeted by an arsonist. Shaw Riley is the "Fire investigator at Anchor Bay Fire Department" and "Sargent In Arms for the Iron Brotherhood". Mira Vaughn is the "Insurance Fraud Investigator" she believes Iron Brotherhood are guilty straight off the bat. They both banter at each other, Shaw is dominant and he notices Mira obeying orders so Shaw offered her something she didn't know she needed, he offered to show her what happens at the Forge, she was curious. The heat between them just got hotter until she spoke up and left.

Great Addition to the Series

Super-hot read filled with non-stop action and suspense to keep you on your toes.

WOW! He’s all fire and she’s all about the investigation, but when they meet the sparks fly and the chemistry is felt throughout the storyline.

The intensity of the read will take your breath away, the connection is instant and trust is built in this amazing second storyline of the series where passion burns and danger strikes around every corner as they fight for justice and a forever love.

Great back story. The FMC
believes she has already solved the case. Meets MMC who isn't going to let her settle for the solution she believes is the truth. Both think they are right. Hackles up. Then things start to shift. Great slow building of relationship between them. She backs away, they continue to investigate.. Danger rears its head and the story changes as they begin to accept the other.. Just a great back story with the bad guy getting his come-uppance, and Shaw and Mira getting their hard-won HEA. The MC Club presence is not as detailed as the arson backstory but both are very well done!

Mira arrives after a fire to check for fraud and is determined to prove that the Brotherhood is in deep. Shaw is just as determined to prove otherwise. He investigates fire cause and she is there on behalf of an insurance company. They clash repeatedly until they agree to investigate together.
Someone is starting fires and they are determined to find out who and why.
I really enjoyed this book: not your usual MC story which was refreshing. The suspense and intrigue made this hard to put down. The hook at the end has made me impatient for the next book!

Loved Shaw and Mira’s story ! Talk about hot (pun intended). They are at cross purposes from the get go, but things start to change when Shaw realizes she likes being submissive just a bit more than she’ll admit to. The storyline is twofold; there’s an arsonist after The Brotherhood, and Mira is trying to get over a bad relationship that was BDSM adjacent, he wasn’t a true Dom and made her feel small, and as we all know, being a submissive, you have All the power !! So.yeah, lots of fun and games in this one! 5✨’s for great characters and a fantastic storyline. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Shaw Riley is Anchor Bay Fire Investigator and a charter member of the Iron Brotherhood Motorcycle Club… these guys not into guns, or drugs, just former military veterans wanting to ride and keep in touch… Shaw gets call about fellow member Mike Barrows restaurant The Anchor went up in flames… and because of accelerators used, looks like clear case of arson. Insurance company investigator Mira Vaughn believes that the fires at several businesses owned by Iron Brotherhood could be fraud led by the MC… but would they find the culprit if they work together to see what was going on in this intense read… I voluntarily read this book through an Advanced Reader Copy.

Enjoyed the story. It’s well written, full of action and danger and interesting enough to want to finish the story as soon as possible. The two main characters Mira and Shaw are strong on their own but together they are unstoppable. Their personal connection goes from 🔥to🔥🔥🔥in a short space of time. There are secondary characters who added to the story with the next story revolving around Cole. I enjoyed everything about this story and was sorry to see it end. It’s time well spent reading it.
