Yet somehow, everything just kind of works out for Quinnly Adams.
Curious about her new stalker, Lincoln Evander, she makes a game of pulling him from the shadows.
Only she doesn’t play fair, and nothing is ever ordinary.
She can never do anything without a little… flair.
Before, he was uninspired.
Lincoln Evander met the girl of his dreams–and nightmares.
Getting involved in her game is messy, and surely can’t end well.
Unfortunately, he can’t hide from the urges that plague him ever since he laid eyes on Quinnly Adams.
As his obsession grows, so does his disdain.
She’s sloppy, a menace, and yet she’s captivated his attention.
It’s time to play an unserious game.
*Unserious is a standalone novel for adults 18+. The main characters, Quinnly and Lincoln, do cross over into my other books. Wrangled & Tangled, Smothered & Covered, and Keeping You*
Taylor Wilson-West is a firm believer that the magic of words on a page can transport readers to new places, and finds comfort in making new, albeit fictional, friends. Currently residing in a small town in North Carolina with her husband and two perfect kiddos, she lives off Cheerwine, potatoes, and ranch dressing. When she’s not reading or writing, she can be found shopping at bookstores, adding to her never ending bookshelves. Taylor finds it necessary to have a bookish candle that fits every genre and book character that she has ever fallen in love with. Her favorite moment in any consumable media is when confident, fat main characters get their happily ever after.

This one was pretty intresting I always wonder about Quinnly and her story is cool. A few times I had to put it down due to the flashbacks and present time. I kinda wish Lincoln pov was more present and less flashbacks. But thats a me thing. Quinnly and her sister heck her whole family have things they do aka kill hunt. That sorta thing and since someone close to Quinnly has died she wants to finish off his list and make her shadow come out to play. Since hes been cleaning up her mess.
So lots of ppls on her list and a trip around the world to kill these ppls. Sometimes I didnt believe there love since Lincoln said hes loved her but he kept pushing her away. To me it didnt make any sense. But for a fun read. Its okay.
Saftey- this would have been a perfect book for me until Quinnly sorta cheated but not cheated since they weren't officially a couple but mid % she takes a date home to get Lincoln angry she does sleep (one thrust) with the guy and kills him. 😒 Lincoln had the power to stop her long before she got undressed. So it killed alot for me.
No ow/om drama, no real? Cheating, slight secondary character, drama, sexy times, no virgins

Quinnly is mentally unstable, morbid, and somehow absolutely adorable. She lives on tacos, Pop Tarts, and full time impulses. She is VERY good at indulging them, but not always the correct moment to go full murder spree.
With a homemade scratch off map (DIY queen), she sets out to cross all 50 states, scratching with each body count. All the while trying to lure out her “shadow,” the one person she knows is always watching.
That shadow is Lincoln. He’s been cleaning up her chaos, keeping her safe, and falling madly in love with her. Is he ready show himself and take what he has always wanted?
This standalone is pure chaotic fun. Total Harley Quinn energy, a romantic comedy with a serial killer road trip. The characters are lovable, the dialog is sweet, and the character backstory gives us emotional connection.
The body count rains with blood, and Quinnly laughs her way through every messy moment.
I laughed, got goosebumps and would very much like to be her friend.
A dark romcom between two lively and chaotic serial unalivers that was steamy and spicy but also full of witty moments and hilarious escapades. Quinnly (and her little scissors!) is the definition of an unhinged FMC, Lincoln is her quiet and thoughtful opposite. Their banter is unmatched as he watches over her during her road trip with a very specific goal. I adored the chemistry between these two, how their shenanigans and dialogue balanced the dark aspects, and how the fast-paced plot was ironically lighthearted and sweet at its core. (*content warnings are introduced the beginning of the book) Thanks to the author for the eARC
I was lucky enough to receive this book as an ARC and I cannot begin to express how thankful I am!! As soon as I saw the first teasers of this book I knew I was going to want to read it. The story centers around Quinnly the AUDHD serial killer/hitman and her “shadow” Lincoln….who also is in the same line of work. Lincoln worked with Quinnlys grandfather before he passed away and his grandfather asked him to watch over her once he was gone. Typically that would seem easy enough but Quinnly is unlike anyone you’ve ever met and has planned a 50 state killing spree that he will be tagging along for. She is charismatic and has no filter or impulse control. Her sister Naomi tries to keep her as reeled in as she can while also teaching her basic social cues. At the end of the day though Quinnly is only worried about her next kill, where her taco slippers are and where her next pop-tart is. This is the first dark romcom I’ve ever read and I really enjoyed it. The plot wasn’t too serious but kept the story going at an enjoyable pace. Listed below are some of my favorite details, character characteristics and tropes that are found on this story.
-plus size MMC -AUDHD representation that is realistic -persistent FMC -unique storyline -interconnected standalone (gives answers to a previous book by this author!) - top tier banter -sunshine (in a psychotic way) and grumpy trope -he protects her without her knowing
If you’ve read the Gravity Hill or Raven Peak Ranch series (which I highly suggest you do by the way), then you’ve met chaotic, unpredictable, and stabby Quinnly. Unserious is her story and baby what a story it was! I loved her & Lincoln so so much. Quinnly just has this magnetic way about her and I was already half in love with her after meeting her in other books so it didn’t take me long at all before I was crushing hard on her. And Lincoln?!?! Damn that man is dangerous in that quiet way where you don’t know death is upon you until you’re already bleeding. He’s also charming and fully obsessed with Quinnly so of course I fell for him too. You can definitely tell Taylor had a blast while writing this unhinged duo’s happily ever after, and I had an equally fun time reading it.
Unserious released today so go read it and then let me know if it grabbed ahold of you like Lincoln loves to grab Quinnly (by the throat).
4.5 (more 5 star than 4 for me)⭐️ 4🔥
What to expect: MCs are both killers AuDHD rep Plus size rep Interracial romance Kill list complete with scratch off map He carves his name on her thigh No third act breakup FMC is chaotic & fully unhinged He’s an obsessed stalker She makes silicone replicas of his 🍆 and then tattoos her name on the real thing He lets her color in his tattoos with markers Blood play Hand necklaces
TW/CW: Violence/blood/murder/torture/gore (like a lot), loss of parents & death in the family, mention of cancer, mention of rape (not detailed), spreading of ashes, gun/knife/scissors violence, body mutilation, they both drug each other without consent, surgery/scars, mention of drugs and sex trafficking (not done by or used by MCs)
✨ARC Review✨ 📖: Unserious ✍🏻: Taylor Wilson West ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️
This book was such a roller coaster in the best way! I love how utterly and unapologetically unhinged Quinnly is😂 I was cackling through basically this whole book! Her inner monologue was so relatable and I was constantly like “me too girl, me too” 😂 her banter with Lincoln was top tier! The spicy moments were hot and steamy and the connection could be felt through the pages. I do wish we could have gotten Linc’s POV though.
The road trip of a serial unaliver with a list of names and a ““guardian angel” of sorts, what more could you ask for? this book is a great representation of a dark rom-com and as always Taylor did not disappoint!
This was fun, chaotic, fast-paced, and a decent length for a somewhat quick read if you’re looking for good time!
Addictive, hilarious, dark, gory, and spicy — hell yes! 👏 This totally gave me vigilante vibes similar to the Mindf*ck series, mixed with the dark and depraved chaos of Butcher & Blackbird, plus the completely unhinged “unaliving” energy of a full-blown horror/slasher film. I am absolutely ready for book two’s shenanigans and this couple’s next “hit.” Lincoln is so lovable in the most messed-up way possible 😂 That said, I do think the pacing and structure could have been handled a bit better. The flashbacks felt sporadic at times, which made the timeline a little harder to follow. If they had been woven in more smoothly, the story would have flowed even stronger. Overall though? I’m hooked and seated for more!
This is exactly what the title says, Unserious! It is such a feel good, dark romance with two absolutely incredibly fun characters to follow. Quinnly is unhinged and just so much fun. You really never know where she is going to go next and it's exactly what makes her so much fun. Lincoln is just *oomf*. Absolutely new book boyfriend for me. Such a perfect gentleman while also being the psycho killer we all love 🩶.
This one is definitely not going to be for everyone, but it you like dark romance and want something to just have a great time and fall in in love with some great characters, this is definitely the story for you!
This is definitely going on my Recs list! I really enjoyed Lincoln and Quinnly. Its so rare to get female representation of ASPD, so I always enjoy getting to read an FMC fitting. I love their relationship dynamic. The way that Quinnly viewed Lincoln, her friends and family, and the world was so interesting to watch.
I do wish we got more. More of their relationship and Lincoln's present POV; and just more story overall (I'm a greedy bitch). It was just such a fun time, I'm sad its over.
I was so so SO excited for Quinnly’s story since I met her in Keeping You, the fourth book of the Gravity Hills series, and it met EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY EXPECTATIONS.
Omg Quinnly is my psychopathic hero and I loved EVERY minute of her dialogue.
Oh and her Shadow aka Lincoln was just as an unaliver and so deliciously obsessive.
IT WAS SO GOOOOOOODDDD and I can’t wait for more from this author. Her characters have a way of always sticking in your head and your heart.
Unserious is a fun book about who I'm sure will be your new favorite Split haired stabby menace ! The story can be read as a stamd alone but is extremely intertwined in the Hemlock Heirs and Ravenwood Ranch and may contain spoilers for those plots. I highly recommend reading them first! And if you havnt already you're truly missing out 😊
This was such a fun time! Quinnly has become my favorite FMC ever, she so fun! The banter was top tier, loved it. Lincoln is probably the only one that could handle Quinnly, so he's perfect for her. Also I love the plus size male rep so much!
I wish I could give this more than 5 stars…. Quinnly must be my fav outta all the gravity hill crew!!! My stomach from laughing so much with this book!
A quirky, autistic, stabby FMC. A broody, stalker MMC.
Put those two together and you get one of the best dark romances I have ever read. I don’t think I’ll ever look at scissors (or glitter) the same way again.
Taylor Wilson-West does an absolutely amazing job at mixing humor, darkness, and romance in her newest book. The way that she writes Quinnly really captures the uniqueness and difficulty that is functional autism, and honestly it made me question a few things about myself. The nuances that are in here are so relatable it had me nodding my head in understanding every time Q wanted a strawberry pop tart instead of something healthy.
Not only that, but the way she has Lincoln constantly in the shadows watching, biding his time until he was ready to emerge. It was just amazing to get into his head.
And as for the story itself? It was funny, dark, spicy, and had me binging this book in one sitting. Tbh I’ve read it three times now, and I still am most likely going to read it again on release day.
TWW always blows me away with her writing! I found her for her cowboy romance but man am I glad I stayed for this!!
This book was great!! The characters are written so well and the plot is one that sucks you in and has you flipping page after page waiting to see what’s going to happen next!!
