A sacred journey. Scottish wolf allies. And a mate sworn to protect the secret that makes me the heir they've been searching for.
I never expected to be drawn to the pack's security company, but the Highland Winds escort feels like the perfect place to start. Luke doesn't love the idea—protective mates rarely do—but trusts my abilities enough to add me to the detail.
The trip starts simple. The Scots want visiting rights to the Moon Goddess’ holy grounds, and we’re escorting them through several pack territories. At night, Luke and I find moments just for us.
The trip unravels fast. Sacred sites flare under my touch, and hex bags turn up carrying real danger. No one knows who’s hunting us—but I know why the magic won’t leave me alone, and the Scots are starting to see it too.
And when we reach the ruins of my birth pack, whatever’s been stalking our trail finally shows its hand.

The Alpha Protector’s Lost Heir is the 11th book in the District of Wolf Desires. A Fated Mates Wolf Shiter Paranormal Romance by Sloan Samuels.
After reading the first book in the Prophecy of Red “The Red Witch’s Awakening” I fell in love with Sloan Samuels writing and now any time I have the chance to grab a Sloan Samuel’s book, I’m going to take the opportunity. And wow, The Alpha Protector’s Lost Heir didn’t disappoint at all.
Now, after the fact, I learned that this book was part of a series and shouldn’t be read as a standalone. Thankfully, I am able to infer enough information that I am able to figure out what’s going on and I can follow along with what’s happening. That being said, I will be going back to the first book of this series and reading it from the beginning so I can better understand everything.
I will say that this book enthralled me from the very first page and while it felt a bit sluggish at first, but I pushed through that and I was never disappointed.
Sloan did a stunning job with the world building. Luke and Elena’s characters were well fleshed out, well crafted, and they each had such unique and individual personalities. All the characters including the secondary characters were well written and developed with wonderful character arcs.
The magic was thrilling and captivating. The plot and subplot went perfectly with the storyline and the twists and turns kept you guessing what was going to happen next.
This was just such an amazing read and I can’t help but recommend this series even though I haven’t yet read the entire series yet, I can recommend it based off of just this one single book.
Elena has come so far since we first met her. She has come to be a strong character, who wants to do more to help people. She’s no longer afraid of the power she has. It has been nice to see her becoming her own person, and finding out more about her true pack. Her connection to the goddess was a surprise, and not something I saw coming throughout all of the stories. I guess the biggest surprise was her wanting to give up dancing…especially since in book 1 she ran away because that’s all she wanted.
The storyline was a bit slow to start, but it had to be to explain why they were on the trip.
There was danger and revelations at each stop of the trip. With Rolph being pinpointed fairly early on as the instigator…which made me think it wasn’t going to be him! However, the strong reaction the alphas had when they found out the truth at the end of the trip was a little bizarre...especially when Henry and Luke already had a conversation about it at their first stop. But then again, they did almost die by the time they discovered the truth…so their reaction was very much warranted.
It’s overall a good continuation of the ongoing storyline.

I can say with confidence that this is my favorite installment in Luke and Elena‘s love story so far! We follow Luke and Elena as they embark on a pilgrimage to various sacred wolf grounds as members of Luke‘s security company escorting a Scottish alpha. As their journey progresses, Elena experiences strange spiritual occurrences at the sacred grounds, leading her to believe that the Goddess intended for her to take part in the pilgrimage. Along the way, however, trouble manages to find their group. I loved the pilgrimage and spiritual aspects of this installment. Seeing Elena‘s self-discovery had me cheering her on. And the way Luke stood by her every step of the way and cheered her on was priceless. This was the least spicy installment thus far, but I didn’t mind, as this one was plot heavy. Overall, I highly recommend this one!
The story revolves around Elena, a sacred journey, and Luke who must help her protect the secret of her bloodline. Decisions will be made based on how secure they can keep this secret. And including Elena on this dangerous journey brings the tension up even higher as we all know that secrets are difficult to keep. Luke is extremely protective of her, but even he is not invincible. When it becomes apparent that someone or something is hunting them, a new level of danger racks up the excitement level. Will Elena and Luke make it successfully to the end of their journey? Or is what they discover more threatening than they had imagined? Will insider betrayal finally cost them their lives?
When I got the opportunity to be an ARC reader for one of Sloan Samuel books i jumped right in. I was not disappointed. This book is not a standalone and should not be read as a standalone.
I was HOOKED from the start. It's slow at the beginning BUT you will not be disappointed. The world building was sublime. The characters were perfectly written. The magic was exciting! The plot, the spice, the twist and turns... wooow! 🤯🤯 I did read book 1 to get an idea of where the characters were at. After reading this book, I will definitely be going back to the beginning of the series. What an amazing read.

Another excellent story of Supernatural Beings by Sloan Samuels. The author takes you on a journey of explanation as she weaves the story line of a Scottish Wolf Pack, a Lost Pack of Wolves, and the Goddess. The Scotts have hired Luke to be their guide and bodyguard as they visit Sacred Sites located in America. Their bloodline is dying out, and they are seeking a solution to stop it from dying. Elena, Lukes Mate, decides to join the Security team, not knowing that she will become a major player in the quest. Well written Story that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Highly recommend it.
This latest installment in the District of Wolf Desires series is a captivating story full of exploration and revelations.
The reader is drawn in by relatable characters and the vivid imagery. Elena is a strong role model who motivates others as she discovers her heritage. Luke’s devotion to her gives the best protector vibes.
Best of all this can be read as a standalone even if the reader has not experienced the earlier books in the series.

Oh I think this is the best book of the series so far! The plot is interesting, exciting and suspenseful as this group of alpha visit sacred sight for their goddess. The writing is fast flowing and hard to put down. It’s more the adventure of the trip, Elena discovering more about herself and the tight bond she and Luke have.

Really enjoyed this shifter magical romance. They are traveling to find sacred sites and to try to find out why their bloodline is dying out and to figure out how to prevent it. Her magic is starting to show itself, he is so protective and caring for his mate, so much going on, this was a fun and engaging read. Loved it!.

Luckily this book can be read as a standalone, as I have not read all the previous books, but had no issues with keeping up with the characters in this book. Very intriguing storyline that kept me involved throughout. I especially liked the fact that it was about a Scottish wolf pack, which I had never come across (yet). I definitely enjoyed the book and plan on reading more of the series.

This might have been easier in the beginning if I remembered reading the first book. The great thing is that the past is reviewed during the book which helped a lot. This is more of an adventure than a romance. The ideas, the path to follow, the ideals proven, the love enforced, and the friendships made are wonderfully woven throughout this story. A good shifter story overall.

this book had me in throughout in the moment I got to page 2. It’s swapped POV‘s, which can be really challenging for some authors, but I found the author did a phenomenal job at differentiating between the two characters. Overall, I would read it again.

I really love this book it’s a continuation of Elena and Luke’s story. They travel with the Highland Winds pack where Elena evidently returns to her birthplace where things begin to happen. You need to read it.

This book feels like it is wrapping up the storyline from the previous 10 books and is setting up the series to head in a new direction. Secrets are revealed and danger that was hiding in darkness is brought to light. I am curious to see how this series will play out in the future.

I have been following Elena and Luke for 11 books not. They venture into Scotland and her magic is flaring. They had hoped to make sure no one would see, but.......

A simple escort trip ends up in trouble for Elena and Luke. Lots of trouble and danger for all with some surprises. But the story was fun and kept me guessing and glued to the end. Enjoyed watching it all play out.
Refreshing Easy to read. enjoyed the mix of romance and supernatural intrigue. Kept me reading to see what happened next. Will definitely be reading more of Sloan Samuels works
