Between Promise and Fulfillment : At the Crossroads of God's Will, God's Timing, and Our Waiting

Rate this book
At some point, all of us end up standing at the same invisible intersection.
On one side is what we believe to be God’s will—the promise, the calling, the direction we’re convinced He’s spoken to our hearts. On the other side is God’s timing—the part that rarely moves as quickly, as smoothly, or as predictably as we hoped it would.
And right in the middle is where we
the waiting.
Maybe that’s where you are as you’re holding this book. You’re waiting on a breakthrough that hasn’t come. You’re waiting on a prodigal to come home. You’re waiting on healing, or clarity, or direction. You’re waiting on a door to open—or for a door that slammed shut to make some sort of sense. You believe God is good. You believe He’s able. You want to trust His will. But the delay between what He’s promised and what you can see with your eyes feels like a long, unlit hallway.
And in that hallway, questions start
“Did I miss God somewhere?”
“Is this a punishment?”
“Did I do something wrong?”
“Has God forgotten me?”
I know those questions, not just as a pastor or Bible teacher, but as a fellow traveler. I’ve lived through seasons where God’s will seemed clear, but His timing felt painful, confusing, or downright unfair. I’ve prayed prayers that didn’t get answered the way I wanted. I’ve walked through loss that did not fit my understanding of how the story was supposed to go.
If you’re honest, maybe a part of you feels the
“It wasn’t supposed to happen like this.”

The Myth of the Straight Line
Somewhere along the way, many of us picked up a quiet
If I’m in God’s will, the path will be clear, and the timing will be quick.
But when you open your Bible, that’s not what you actually see.
These aren’t stories of people who misheard God’s will. These are stories of people who stood exactly where you may be standing at the crossroads of God’s will and God’s timing.
And the question is always the
What do we do in the waiting?

The Waiting Room Is Not Wasted
If we’re not careful, we treat waiting like wasted time.
We think, “Once this changes… once I get out… once they come back… once I’m healed… once the door opens… then I’ll really start living, really start serving, really start trusting.”
But again and again, Scripture tells a different story.
In God’s hands, delay is not denial.
Delay is often development.
The seasons that feel like the most “unproductive” in our eyes are often the seasons where God is doing His deepest, most hidden work in our hearts.

Joining the Stories of Those Who Waited Well (and Poorly)
This book is not a collection of “perfect examples.” It’s a journey through the lives of real men and women who wrestled, doubted, stumbled, and sometimes made a mess of things while they waited on God.
Some waited well.
Some didn’t.
Most did a little of both.

God’s will is clear. God’s timing is confusing. And a decision has to be made.
