New from Abby London comes a banter-filled, enemies-to-lovers billionaire romcom with some spice and lots of laughs.
I was unemployed, broken hearted, and broke, living off the generosity of my BFF. So when Knight Advertising offered me the job of a lifetime, I pushed my I’m-not-good-enough fears aside and jumped at the chance.
The only problem?
The too-hot, not-safe-for-work bosshole running the show.
Curtis Knight was not, as his name suggested, a knight in shining armor. He was more like the knight who wanted to skewer me with his jousting stick… and that wasn’t a euphemism, unfortunately. I managed to make a disastrous first impression by spilling my coffee and squashing my donut all over his expensive shirt. Have I mentioned I also copped an unexpected—but appreciated—feel of his firm pec?
Since then, he made my life hell. And I needed the money too badly to quit. Complicating matters, clients were abandoning the firm, and his father blamed Curtis. When management told me to spy on him or lose my job, I made my choice. Now he taunts me by criticizing my document margins and orders me to be online for 2:00 a.m. client meetings.
I needed to uncover what was going on before I either strangled him or fell for him. I wanted this to be over with ASAP because I’ve been down this road before, and falling for the bosshole would be a mistake I might never recover from.
Includes scenes of workplace seduction, accidental donut attacks, and a hero who looks way too good in a suit for everyone’s sanity.
Abby London is the pen name of a USA Today bestselling cozy mystery and fantasy author who decided she needed a little spice in her life. Abby loves reading romantic comedies so thought it would be fun to write one. She hopes you enjoy her books and have a few laughs along the way.
Abby lives in Sydney, Australia with her husband, two teenage sons, and two cats, plus a stray she feeds but can't get close enough to touch.
This Book is a workplace romcom, dating the boss with some corporate espionage . Faith is pitted against brooding "bosshole" Curtis and he never stood chance. The story is so entertaining to read with fun banter and awkward moments, I had to laugh out loud multiple times. But there are some heavy themes in the book as well, both characters have horrid family dynamics and are (or where) treated abysmal, sexual harassment and abuse of power are also part of the story as well as infidelity. So even though it is a Romcom be mindful of that.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author Abby London for trusting me with an eARC of this story.
Story was engaging and characters well written. I was so invested in the characters that at around 30% of the way in, I struggled to pick the book back up because of the tension that both Curtis and Faith were under!!!
I understand that this is Abby’s first romance novel, however she has authored books under another name previously. The dialogue was very witty and well described.
I understand that Curtis’s brother Jack is the focus of the next book in the series. Jack gets some really amusing moments in this book, so next one should be a cracker!
I sure did enjoy this nutty, humorous, book of fun. Expertly written, excellent and interesting characters, and just a whole lot of fun and funny to enjoy. I'm looking forward to more.
I was really excited to read this rom com, and it did not disappoint. I loved the chemistry and banter between Curtis and Faith. The only person I truly hated in this book was Faith's mom, who was so harsh. I wanted to slap her. The circumstances that Faith found herself in really made me giggle. Very cute read.
Just what I needed a fast paced, can’t put down book. Characters with lines and thoughts that you have to hold in the laugh, when curled up in bed reading instead of sleeping. Can’t wait for the next one! 🤩
I have always considered myself a bookworm, and romance is the genre I never seem to get tired of. As I have read more over the years, I have discovered plenty of tropes that I love, but enemies to lovers has always been near the top of the list. When you add humor into the mix, it becomes even better. That combination alone had me excited to pick up this book.
This story started off strong and only got better as I kept reading. I really enjoyed that it is told in first person with alternating perspectives. Being able to see what both the FMC and the MMC were thinking made their dynamic even more entertaining and helped their chemistry shine. The plot itself was engaging, and while it touches on some more serious topics, the author handled them in a way that never felt overwhelming. The lighter moments and humor helped keep the story balanced and enjoyable.
All in all, I really loved this book. It had heart, humor, and a romance I was fully invested in from beginning to end. I am especially happy to see that this is the first book in a series, because I cannot wait to continue on with these characters and see what happens next.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.**
Super cute, cozy, comfy rom com with the right amount of sassiness and bantering. Main characters' chemistry felt right, perfect for slow burners. Their connection wasn't just sexual attraction, it felt natural and deep. Both of them had family trauma and I love the way the author handled it. If you lost faith in love, well this book will definitely restore it. Hands up for FMCs scene of humour. I've never felt more relatable to a book character before. And Curtis, welcome to my book boyfriend club. You deserve it.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book, it is a perfect enemies to lovers romance with so many twists that you don’t really know which direction the story is going. Obviously there is a happy ending but getting to it was an interesting ride! 🙂
Loved this book. It had me gripped, and I was cursing and laughing as the story progressed. We all dream of the villa under the tuscon sun. Beautiful story. I would highly recommend this for the doughnut eating coffee drinking romance girlie's.
Faith and Curtis’s story was a fun read with mystery and romance. Loved the brother, sister and best friend. Looking forward to the next book about Jack.
I received an ARC of Donut Girl and the Bosshole by Abby London from NetGalley. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this early. This review reflects my honest opinions.
This one started out strong… and then it fell. Hard.
The premise had potential, and I was genuinely hooked in the beginning. But as the story progressed, it felt like it became more about donut references and repetitive puns than actual character development. The humor leaned heavily on self-deprecating jokes, and while that can work in small doses, it started to overshadow emotional growth.
The third-act breakup felt unnecessary and forced, adding drama without meaning. There was also no real resolution with the FMC’s family, which made the ending feel incomplete. Everything wrapped up quickly, but without the depth or emotional closure I was hoping for.
There’s the foundation of a good story here. It just never fully rises.
It’s giving Meghan Quinn vibes…. And that is a COMPLIMENT. Adorable rom com with some truly laugh out loud lines and just the right amount of drama and spice. Donut Girl and the Bosshole is just a fun time from start to finish (with maybe just a pinch too much toxic family members but I am also less patient with that than some). Faith and Curtis serve up some satisfying chemistry, a fun meet disaster X2 and thoroughly enjoyable side characters who I will happily follow through the series as intended.
Thank you Dionne Lister for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC. My honest review is below. Publication date 10/12/25
Overall 4 star rating.
This light-hearted contemporary romance was such a fun and satisfying read. I absolutely loved the slow burn between the two main characters—their chemistry built naturally and made their relationship feel genuine and earned. The romance unfolded at just the right pace, with the perfect amount of spice to complement their blossoming connection without overpowering the story.
It was a quick, easy read that kept me smiling, thanks to its humor and charming moments throughout. Overall, it’s a feel-good romance that’s perfect if you’re looking for something sweet, engaging, and effortlessly enjoyable.
**BASED ON AN ARC FROM NET GALLEY** This the most beautiful story about how a pastry can just blossom into something that is so delicious as a donut. The main characters just flowed right and it made sense and the banter oh my god that was so good I couldn’t stop kicking my feet!!!
This was a fun, light and easy read. Things do tie up absurdly well at the end and I wanted a bit more build up of romance between the characters but it fits the genre Anyway, off to go watch Under the Tuscan Sun...
This was okayish. The monologue were too long for my taste. And also till almost 55% of the book the main character hardly has conversation, only a few times. but internally it would look like they are dying for each other. Yes that's it. By the way i really wanted to like this book because i loved the idea of the book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were real and engaging, and their story had me rooting for them from page one. Beautifully written with lots of laughs.
This was such a fun and easy romcom read! I picked it up for the enemies-to-lovers trope and stayed for the banter, the chaos, and the accidental donut attack (I won't spoil the fun by elaborating!). From page one, the heroine felt super relatable—unemployed, insecure, running on caffeine and sheer determination—and Curtis Knight? Oh boy. Peak bosshole energy. Expensive suits, sharp tongue, and way too attractive for his own good. The office tension was chef’s kiss. I loved the back-and-forth snark, the late-night meetings, and the way their dynamic slowly shifted from mutual annoyance to something much softer (and spicier). The spying plot added just enough angst to keep things interesting without killing the romcom vibes, and I genuinely laughed out loud more than once. The side details—like him obsessing over margins and her trying not to fall for her boss—made it feel playful and real. Overall, this was a quick, sunny read with great pacing, lots of laughs, and a swoony billionaire who knows how to fill out a suit. If you like enemies-to-lovers, workplace romance, and romcoms that don’t take themselves too seriously, this one is definitely worth picking up. If you're looking a palate cleanser, this is definitely it! I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This book had a lot of potential and I really wanted to love it, but I just couldn't. It started off really strong with witty and funny banter and seemed to be a great potential for searing chemistry, but it lost me in the second act.
I felt the was trying so hard to be steamy and spicy by mentioning body parts and orgasms so many times it became jarring. I felt this could have just been a sweet and sassy romcom.
The chemistry between Curtis and Faith felt forced after they had sex and I didn't feel they loved each other and his grand gesture at the ending? I didn't particularly fancy it.
Also, I'm not sure if these were corrected but there were a few inconsistencies in the book. Victoria was referred to as Queen V in the first half of the book, then later called Queen B. Faith's middle name was spelt with an e and without an e.
I really loved the sibling relationship in this and Amy and Faith's friendship.
A friend of mine told me she’s reading this book, and I asked her, “What’s the title again?” I was intrigued and so I decided to download a copy and read it for myself … just to shock her. Well, I was the one who was shocked. I’m not a romance reader, but this is REALLY good. And even more shocking. I read it in one day.
The first thing I noticed was the relatability, vulnerability, and veracity of characters. In no time at all, I cared about them … and that quickly, I was hooked on this book.
After that, it got even better. There are lots of clever scenes, and I found myself laughing while simultaneously emphathizing with their respective predicaments. The story is great … with lots of nuances and wonderful supporting characters … some punchable and some not.
Beautifully written, this is an authentic story with spice and humor. Great read.
Curtis & Faith - the chemistry is fire! I loved this book and devoured it in 1 setting. There's something about an 'enemies-to-lovers' trope done well that gets me, though honestly I wouldn't really call them enemies. The story was easy to read, I love a romance with a little bit of tension and the family situation for both MC's was it. I thought it was really cute how the donut-girl wording came back through the story multiple times, an even though Curtis disappointed me by believing his dad over Faith towards the end (and took way too long to realise it in my opinion) I loved how he made it up to her.
Was looking for more stories from this author but couldn't find any!
Faith has been wrongfully fired from her marketing job when she helps stop a mugging at a coffee shop. One of the other patrons secures Faith a job in marketing at Knight Advertising, led by handsome CEO Curtis Knight. Corporate espionage, lies & betrayal swirl around Faith as she gets to know her bosshole, Curtis.
This was a cute read. It Did conveniently come together quite well at the end. I wish there had been more formulation of the relationship between Faith and Curtis. There is Some spice but not overloaded with sexy situations.
Thank you to NetGalley and BookBuzz.net for a copy of this novel.
This book is pretty corny. I don’t necessarily mean that in a bad way, but it has an entertainment factor based on cheesy humor. I don’t necessarily feel that there is anything deeper to be taken away from the story. And that’s not bad sometimes people want a light cozy catty drama with a hint of romance. I think I’m personally tired of reading about rich billionaire men & the ways, unhealthy woman hurt, especially adjacent to them.
I appreciate the opportunity to read this digital ARC through NetGalley.
If you like super corny rom-coms that have main characters who are immediately drawn to each other despite minimal conversation, this book is for you! I really wanted to love this book because I haven't read a good rom-com in a while, but the story felt a bit too long and the characters didn't seem to connect in a meaningful way for so much of the story. I didn't dislike it, I just didn't LOVE it like I thought I would when I was given an ARC copy.
This book was ok. The spicy scenes were not great to me and the wording just wasn’t my fav. The plot was good and it had me sticking to the book, but I likely won’t read the rest of this series.
Really enjoyed this book. My only grouse is... why does her step sister go from Brandy to Bethany and back again??? Any decent beta reader or editor should have noticed that.
