John Michael Greer, author and host of the popular weekly peak oil blog, "The Archdruid Report," returns with another collection of twelve tales from the post oil future. As Industrial civilization staggers beneath its myriad dysfunctions, ordinary people endure the long, slow descent that shapes the years of crisis. The old world passes away and a new age takes shape.
John Michael Greer is an author of over thirty books and the blogger behind The Archdruid Report. He served as Grand Archdruid of the Ancient Order of Druids in America. His work addresses a range of subjects, including climate change, peak oil, the future of industrial society, and the occult. He also writes science fiction and fantasy. He lives in Rhode Island with his wife.
It’s an interesting concept, twelve writers, each giving us a story about how life might be in the years after oil has become scarce. Each story gives us a different facet of this future, but all agree that the way of living will be significantly different from the way it is now. The book is interesting and fun to read if you take it as fiction rather than a serious forecast. On the other hand the stories give us a lot to contemplate if we accept that these twelve authors are showing us a glimpse of a possible (or probable) future.
This is a Collection of short stories of what the world might look like when Progress finally stops an and the oil runs out. Some are quite good, and a few are memorable.
