She’s ready to kill for the truth. He’s ready to kill for her.

Declan

The second a bullet hit my father’s heart, my life changed forever. In that moment, I became the new Boss of the Irish mafia. A role that I’ve been preparing for my whole life.

Revenge is not my first priority, but Zahra has other ideas. Our families have been allied for decades after all. But I never expected the magnetic pull between us.

As much as I want to deny myself, I want her. But she thinks I murdered her father…and my own.
And I’m not sure she’s wrong.

Zahra

Of course they’re shocked I’m the heir—no woman has ever run the Persian Mafia. But my father’s death wasn’t about progress. And I need to avenge him.

All signs point to the one man who had everything to gain. A man so cunning and cruel he killed his own father to take power.
I just have to prove his guilt, which requires me to get close to him.

Close enough that I end up marrying him.

The Devil and Her Details is dual POV Mafia Romance featuring a marriage of convenience between Declan McAlister (the protective, jealous, and possessive Boss to the Irish Mafia), and Zahra Azhimi (expert hacker and new Boss of Persian Empire). Thanks to Love Notes for providing the eARC. This is my honest opinion.

A female Don, a dangerous world, and a romance that sparks at every turn.

In the mafia romance 'The Devil and Her Details', Declan and Zahra step into the role of Don after the deaths of their fathers. Zahra, in particular, faces distrust, many believe a woman could never do the job as well as a man. She is an intriguing main character who must hold her ground in a male-dominated world where every move is scrutinized.

When Zahra begins to suspect that someone from her inner circle may have been involved in her father’s murder, she steps dangerously close to the fire to uncover the truth.

From the very first page, 'The Devil and Her Details' draws you into the story. The writing flows smoothly, the dialogue is laced with humor, and the chemistry between the main characters creates a constant undercurrent of tension. The fast pace and short chapters make it easy to keep turning the pages.

While the storyline can be predictable at times, the threat within the mafia world adds a satisfying layer of tension alongside the romance. The combination of mafia atmosphere, romance, and playful chemistry makes this a story that is easy to get lost in.

A book that proves just how irresistible mafia romance can be.

ARC REVIEW | The Devil and Her Details by Mina Myles

Declan & Zahra
Heirs to the Irish & Persian mafia
Their fathers were best friends and both were killed

Declan wants to find out who did this to them and make them pay but can’t deny the immediate attraction he felt for Zahra

Zahra, however, thinks Declan is guilty and she needs to get close to him to get hardcore evidence
Close enough that she decides to marry him 😏
——

This story started off a little slow
Part of me wanted to scream because Declan was so oblivious to the fact that this woman he was so attracted to wanted to kill him 🤣

He was down bad for her - he even took a bullet for her

Zahra had no choice but to have her walls up and made them as thick as possible
She was the first female mafia boss and that was enough pressure on its own
She carried this story on her back and I was here for it

…a boss in the streets and a sub in the sheets 🤭

Also, I totally called it from early on who the suspect was. Proud of myself for that.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. Female mafia bosses are something I could definitely get into

'The Devil and Her Details'

She’s ready to kill for the truth. He’s ready to kill for her.

🩸 Marriage of Convenience
🩸 Mafia Romance
🩸 Banter
🩸 He falls first
🩸 Enemies to Lovers
🩸 Touch her and die
🩸 Forced Proximity
🩸 Romantic Suspense

I absolutely love when a story features a main FMC as a badass, especially when it comes to novels containing the Mafia world. It's really a nice change. Zahra is our fierce, determined next heir to the Persian Empire. A young, underestimated women who has been kept hidden her whole life by her father for her safety. Declan our protective and possessive MMC, is the heir to the Irish Mafia. These two characters are brought together ultimately due to the death's of both their fathers, two best friends.
To keep relations and business operational, they must work together for both family legacies and for their fathers honor.
Amongst traitors, multiple assassination attempts and feelings they both can't ignore any longer, it's a fight for life!
I loved these characters. Both separately dealing with past and current trauma. Find their way in each other, exposing secrets, self doubt and worth. Learning to trust, when in there world, trust can be a death sentence. Giving in to undeniable passion they can't ignore. The action and suspense kept me not being able to put this read down. Secrets and betrayal, I was totally whiplashed. Great writing style and the POV view was a helpful understanding of character views. I absolutely loved the banter in this story, especially from other characters as well. I really enjoyed this read, Thank you for the opportunity ♥️

DNF…

I love the idea of a female mafia boss AND an arranged marriage? Sign me up!! But this just didn’t work for me personally. I found the writing clunky and very ‘telling’ and I couldn’t get into the story with all the awkward descriptions of things. I think this must be a me thing cause nobody else pointed this out and many readers loved it!!

Thank you so much to the author and LoveNotes PR for the ARC. I really appreciate it.

When you take aim at the devil, make sure you don’t miss. Because if you do, I promise I won’t.

That’s right, she said that. ICONIC

This story follows Zahra, the heiress to the Persian mafia empire. After the tragic death of her father, she has to take over the business and face not only blatant sexism, but also numerous failed assassination attempts. Enter Declan, the heir to the Irish mafia empire whose father got killed the very same day. Together they must find the traitor living somewhere right among them…
And yet, despite their fathers having been close allies, Zahra has her doubts about Declan.

All in all, I really loved this book. It was refreshing to see a woman being the boss of a mostly male-lead organization. Also, I didn’t see the plot twist coming right away which was exciting!!!

Thank you so much for providing me with an arc!

The first review of the year and I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from @lovenotes.pr and @minamylesbooks 🩶 It has been a minute since I read a mafia romance and I was not disappointed, the fact that they are both mob bosses and can understand the heaviness each other carries in this line of business was perfectly executed, Zahra slowly letting those walls down around Declan and accepting that e is her shoulder to lean on and safe space was so beautiful.

4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“You have me.” I reach over, gently bringing her into my arms. “You have me. And together we’ll get through this. Through anything.” To my surprise, instead of pushing back, she tucks her head into my chest and lets me run my fingers through her hair. Her grip on my waist tightens as she whispers, “Together.”

I usually do not love mafia romance, but this one really worked for me. The Devil and Her Details surprised me in the best way 🖤 The romance was done so well, with he falls first, marriage of convenience, and so many my wife moments that had me smiling 😍

The chemistry felt natural and the story stayed engaging without losing the emotional depth. I flew through it and stayed invested the whole time 📖✨

I am so thankful I received this as an ARC and truly appreciate the chance to read it early 💫🙏

Overall an easy four star read for me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend if you want a mafia romance that is done right 😌🔥

This book was SO GOOD!I really loved how strong and independent Zahra is. And how Declan supported her in her strength not trying to over power her. Growing through their own grief and of course the stress of taking over two empires…. It was done beautifully!

*ARC Review* Thank you to Mina Myles for sending me a copy!

Intro:
This book is a mafia romance between Declan, an Irish mafia boss and Zahra, the Persian mafia boss, both of whom have newly and tragically come into their power

Tropes:
-Dual POV
-MF
-Slow Burn
-He Falls First
-Possessive/Protective MC
-Mob Boss/Mob Boss
-Hacker
-Marriage Of Convenience
-Enemies to Friends to Lovers
-HEA

Likes:
-Declan is a consent king
-The scene where Declan first means Zahra
-Banter between MCs was humorous
-Declan's pet names for Zahra/How devoted he is to her
-Some of the climax points were interesting
-The way the book is separated into parts
-Zahra's second in command, a strong/intimidating woman that took no one's crap
-The cover is gorgeous and the main reason I applied for an ARC

My Dislikes:
-Writing seemed clunky
-Mostly a telling/description style (this happened and then this and this...) rather than a dialogue/exploration style
-Chemistry between MCs was 95% physical attraction, 5% emotional, I couldn't connect with either character because there was no deep emotional development
-Too slow of a slow burn, the MCs didn't get together until the very end, there was no time to develop their relationship as lovers/partners
-Zarah's reason/hate for Declan in the first half the book was very repetitive, which annoyed me
-The MCs seemed too emotional to me, they killed everyone around them (which made the story kind of boring when everyone dies and made them bad at being mafia bosses) or they were crying over stuff that has already been cried about
-When MCs would try to open up to each other it was the same conversation and didn't go any deeper than surface level
-I found Natalie and the Uncle to be annoying and the Uncle's personality was different at the end, I don't think his character was handled well
-The spice was unrealistic and seemed rushed in some places and I ended up skipping past those scenes because I couldn't enjoy them
-Some scenes felt rushed and weren't further developed so they seemed swept under the rug
-I guessed who the villain/traitor was in the first 10% of the book
-I liked Aidan's character, but I don't like what happened with his character (trying not to spoil)

Quotes:
-"most mafia men would rather eat a bullet than admit a woman could outsmart them"
-"I mean, everyone knows Cartoon Network was for kids who had issues. Loners. Rebels. Unhinged all around"
-"rational decisions are never made with exhausted minds"
-"Love isn't weakness. It's the only thing that has the power to heal all the pain the world hurls at us"
-"she could try and deny it all she wanted, but we were inevitable"
-Say the words Zahra, and I'm yours. Say you want me. Say you need me. And I promise you, I'll spend every second of every day worshiping you"
-There's not a single moment that I've ever thought you were anything less than stunning, love"

This story was definitely not for me because I couldn't connect with the MCs and it didn't feel like a romance to me. I enjoy mafia romances and based on the cover I was expecting certain things that unfortunately I didn't find in this book or that fell flat. Some aspects were enjoyable, but not enough to outweigh all of the things I didn't like. I kept reading in the hopes it would get better, but my feelings stayed the same throughout the book. I would not recommend this book, but if you feel you may like it or want to give it a try, don't let my review stop you.

“Beauty and a sharp mind are weapons that can be wielded just as lethally as a gun.”

First of all, we love women in STEM!
Zahra is this BADASS mafia boss who doesn’t take any sh*t from anyone and I adored her character growth! Strong, independent and intelligent.
Both her and Declan are dealing with so much grief and loss. Losing their fathers and not knowing who killed them, we go on a journey with both of them stepping into their roles to fill their father’s shoes as the head of the Persian Mafia and Irish Mafia. Even thought Zahra has lived her life growing up safe and privately away from it all (her fathers protection), it doesn’t take either of them long to fit right in as they were both raised knowing that was their future. But not without MANY hardships.
With Zahra under the impression that Declan killed her father and his, there is a lot of tension on Zahra’s end with Declan being the absolute softest and cutest (also clueless lol) toward her no matter how much of the cold shoulder she gives him.😭 That doesn’t stop Declan from instantly becoming protective of her.😏 A true gentleman!
Declan is ALSO a YEARNER and I am sooooo here for it!
Once the truth is out and they team up to try and find who ACTUALLY killed their fathers it heats up pretty quick and WILL have you on the edge of your seat till the very end (I was biting my fingernails till the very end😂)

The pacing and attention to detail was really good, I flew through it in only a few days and would’ve finished sooner if it weren’t for work lol. There are even a couple of twists mixed in, things that I DID NOT expect to happen! This book was sooo exciting and action packed!
The dialogue flows really well throughout the whole book, the witty banter between Declan and Zahra AND Aidan and Azula had me LOLing the whole time.😂
Even the side characters are extremely fleshed out and we get so much background that you instantly fall in love (or hate👀) with the characters. So much so that I absolutely NEED a book with Aidan and Azula ASAP!!!
While it is slow burn at first, once we get to the spice 🌶️ it is WELL worth it!
Declan is a gentleman in the streets (mostly to Zahra) but a freak in the sheets 😏🌶️ that’s all I will say! 🤭
I will be swooning over him for a while!😂

I was picked for an ARC (my first EVER AHHH) from Love Notes PR in exchange for my honest review, thank you so much to Mina Myles! 🖤

🩸 When revenge demands proof, the enemy becomes a husband.

📖 The Devil and Her Details by Mina Myles
⭐️⭐️⭐️.25
🌶️🌶️
Mafia Romance

Tropes:
💍 Marriage of convenience
👑 Mob boss x mob boss
🖤 Obsessed MMC
💬 “My wife”
⚔️ Enemies to friends to lovers
🛡️ Touch her and 💀

After both their fathers are murdered, Declan and Zahra become the heirs to the Irish and Persian crime empires. Zahra is convinced Declan—or at least someone acting on his orders—is responsible for her father’s death. But revenge requires proof, and to get close enough to uncover the truth, she needs access. When a clause in Declan’s father’s will requires him to marry to gain full control of his empire, Zahra agrees to a marriage of convenience—one built on suspicion, strategy, and unspoken tension.

I really enjoyed this book because it felt different from most mafia romances. Instead of focusing purely on violence, it leans heavily into investigation, tech, and uncovering internal leaks. That shift made the story feel refreshing and more layered.

Zahra completely stole the show for me. She’s intelligent, calculating, and powerful in her own right. Watching her use her skills to protect her empire and prove she deserves her position was incredibly satisfying. This wasn’t just a marriage of convenience—it was a partnership, and they worked well together as allies.

Declan, however, felt a little underdeveloped in comparison. With Zahra being such a strong FMC, I wanted him to be more formidable. We hear about his ruthlessness through rumors, but I didn’t fully feel it on the page. Their chemistry leaned more toward physical attraction than emotional depth, though I did enjoy seeing them slowly open up to each other as friends.

Overall, this was an enjoyable and refreshing mafia read with a strong FMC and a more strategic take on power and loyalty.

Thank you Lovenotes PR and Mina Myles for this ARC 🤍

When you take aim at the devil, make sure you don’t miss. Because if you do, I promise I won’t.”

Zahra is a determined women who's the heir to her father's empire. After taking up the mantle of being a female mafia boss and being hidden as her father's heir her whole life, she's thrust into a world of males who think if you don't have a dick you can't rule.
Declan is a possessive MMC who's newly inherited seat in the Irish mafia is about to be questioned, by his supposed ally. Zahra thinks Declan is responsible for her and his own father's deaths. Determined to find out whether this is true or not they are both pulled into a game of cat and mouse.

"You said you needed me," Declan states, his voice at least two octaves lower than usual. "I did." "Did you mean it?" he asks, a hint of vulnerability in his voice. "I did. I do. I need you, Declan. Your body, your heart. Need it like I need my next breath."

The devil and her details is a dark mafia romance with a marriage of convenience. It follows Zahra and Declan, two mob bosses working together to find and bring down a tyrant whilst dodging assassination attempts but also dodging their feelings for each other. After deciding to marry for reasons because of Declans late father's will; the two start working together only to start falling for each other.

𝐒𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐧—𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫.

This story was incredible! Zahra is a strong, independent, sassy, head-strong woman, running their Persian mafia. Declan is a strong, quick witted, rugged Irish man, running the Irish mafia.
Declan is in awe from the moment he meets her.

❝𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬, 𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚 𝐫𝐚𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐬𝐡𝐞’𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡.❞

I love the pull between these characters, which they don’t even notice themselves at first. Both have lost someone dear to them and both want revenge. To help get that revenge, they have a marriage of convenience. In case you’re wondering…he falls first!

❝𝐖𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐥. 𝐈 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥.❞

If you wanted a fast-burn, turn away. 57% later and the smut is worth it. Let me tell you. Declan is a pleasure Dom (yes, a real one that cares about consent and checking in with his partner!) and Zahra is more than happy to submit to him.

❝𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧, 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞. 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞. 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐈’𝐦 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜*𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬. 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐝?❞

I absolutely loved this book. Give me an FMC who is just as strong, skilled, and weapon-trained as any mafia boss, and I’m immediately hooked—and Zhara delivered.
The tension between Zhara and Declan was chef’s kiss. Slow-burning, charged, and intense in the best way. Every interaction between them felt deliberate, layered, and heavy with unspoken desire. Their chemistry simmered for so long that when things finally escalated, it was incredibly satisfying.
Chapters 37–38… excuse me while I recover. Declan’s dominating side completely took over, and honestly? I would read an entire novella dedicated to that version of him. Delicious doesn’t even begin to cover it.
What really stood out to me was the intimacy. Watching Zhara—who is so powerful and in control—choose to submit and hand that power to Declan was fascinating to read. It made their connection feel deep, intentional, and emotionally charged rather than just physical.
And Declan? That man has a dirty mouth, and I could listen to him talk for days. Every intimate moment between them felt intense, meaningful, and perfectly matched to their personalities.
Tropes & vibes:
Mafia romance
Strong, weapon-trained FMC
Slow-burn tension
Power exchange
Dominant MMC
High chemistry
Final thoughts: The Devil and Her Details delivers on tension, chemistry, and intimate power dynamics. If you love strong FMCs, slow-burn heat, and an MMC who knows exactly how to take control when it matters—this book is absolutely worth the read.
🖤🔥 Intense, seductive, and addictive 🔥🖤

After their fathers are murdered, Declan and Zahra become the leaders of the Irish and Persian mafias. Zahra believes that Declan is responsible for their fathers’ deaths, and to obtain the evidence, she needs to get closer to him. To gain full control of the Irish empire, Declan needs to find a wife, and when Zahra agrees to the marriage of convenience, he never expected to fall for her.
One thing I really liked about this mafia romance is that it focused on the tech aspect and not only on the violent side of the mafia. Declan is THE absolute sweetest to Zahra without suffocating her. As soon as he saw Zahra, he was down bad for her. Zahra was my favourite. She was badass, intelligent, and formidable in her own right. I was happy when she finally realised that he wasn’t the murderer and could start to open up to him; they worked really well together. Azula was an amazing side character, and seeing a female second was so refreshing. I loved the representation of women of colour and these women being in positions of power. And the cover is gorgeous!
I felt that the writing wasn’t the greatest because it had more of a telling feel to it. I would have loved to see more of Declan’s ruthless side instead of hearing about it. Most of Zahra’s first chapters were only focused on why she hated Declan, so it felt very repetitive every time we got a chapter in her POV, and we don’t get to see much of who she is as a character. Overall, it was a fun read, but it fell a little short.

Thank you Lovenotes PR for the opportunity to read and review this Ebook ARC!

I really enjoyed this book. I received it as an ARC and went in pretty blind aside from knowing it was a mafia romance and I am so glad I did. Once I started reading I immediately emailed my local Indie Bookstore and asked to add this book to my pending preorder I had placed a few days prior because I wanted to support the author and own a physical copy of this book.

I literally screamed out loud at the end of chapter one and knew I was in for a great read.
Zahra is such a bada** lady boss and Declan, mmmm, he is literally the mafia version of Aaron Warner Anderson in my head now, IYKYK. 😋

Without spoiling anything this is a dark mafia romance that follow two mafia bosses who take over their empires after the loss of their fathers. I enjoyed that the book follows the Persian mafia and Irish mafia as you don't see that too often but also included references to other factions that are more common. The betrayal, deceit, and twists were everything one would expect from a mafia romance plus the spice, chefs kiss.

My only complaint about this book is I wish it would have been longer or structured differently because I feel like the story really picked up around the 85% mark and I would've enjoyed more of that bit of the plot. All in all I really enjoyed this book and I am so glad I chose it as my first read of the year.

3.5 stars (rounded up!)

I’ll be honest: I’m relatively new to mafia romance, and it’s not usually my go-to genre. This book didn’t hook me instantly the way some romances do—but I still found myself invested. What I really appreciated was that it wasn’t just nonstop violence, fighting, and gore. Instead, there was a noticeable focus on emotional growth, power shifts, and trust-building between the MCs, which made it more accessible for me.

The Devil and Her Details delivers a mafia romance setup with some really enjoyable twists...especially Zahra. I loved seeing a strong, intelligent, unapologetically badass FMC step into power as the head of the Persian Mafia. A woman in charge, underestimated by everyone? Yes please.

Now something I do love, a possessive MMC. Declan is very much this! We love a man who drops "my wife". The he falls first energy and slow burn dynamic worked well here. The marriage of convenience adds tension, and the enemies-to-friends-to-lovers progression added to that as well. The spice delivers, once it gets into it!

Overall, this was a thoroughly enjoyable read with solid tropes, strong characters (especially Zahra), and a satisfying HEA. If you enjoy mafia romance with brains, tension, and a powerful FMC at the centre, this one is definitely worth picking up.

Thank you to Love Notes PR and the author for an advance copy, all opinions are my own.

Special thanks to Love Notes PR and the author for an ARC copy of this book.

4.25 stars.

This was a fun, fast paced mafia read. It has a lot of fun mysterious aspects to it and I felt that the plot twists were done really well. Zahra and Declan are a really fun couple and I enjoy watching them help each other grieve the loss of their fathers.

Zahra is also a very strong FMC. She's badass, fearless, and puts Declan in his place any time she gets the chance to do so. She is absolutely ruthless but very kind and just in the same respect. She knows she has to prove herself a great deal to the people she takes over leading after her father dies and leaves her the Persian mafia. She's the first female leader and this makes her an immediate target to everyone who could take this from her.

Declan is such a perfect pairing for Zahra. I got the feeling that even before they got together and started on their fake marriage journey, he cared very deeply for her. I mean, he shot his uncle in the knee cap for disrespecting her during their first meeting. I also loved that while getting married was inconvenient for them, Declan still did what he could to make this a good experience for her too. Even going so far as to have some of her cultures marital traditions present during their wedding.

Make sure to check this out when it comes out on January 16th!

Thank you so much to Love Notes PR for this ARC!
The Devil and Her Details stood out to me because this is not your typical mafia romance. The FMC, Zahra, is a mafia boss and she owns that role fully. She’s intelligent, strategic, mentally and physically strong, and deeply logical, Zahra is genuinely badass. Declan delivers those classic tough, possessive mafia MMC vibes, but with a softness underneath that really worked for me. He’s willing to risk everything including his life, his power, his position for Zahra. He was so swoony! Azula was also a great side character. Seeing a female second-in-command was refreshing.
The book started off very strong and has a lot of potential. I appreciate a good plot twist and the idea of unexpected alliances or antagonists, but for me, the execution didn’t fully land. Certain character motivations and shifts later in the story felt underdeveloped, which made parts of the plot harder to fully believe, even though the concept itself was interesting.
Overall, The Devil and Her Details is a bold take on the mafia romance genre with a standout FMC, strong romantic chemistry, and excellent supporting characters. While the plot twist didn’t fully land for me, the foundation of the story and its characters makes this a book with real potential and one I’m glad I read.

5/5⭐️ 3/5🌶

PERFECT. PERFECT. PERFECT. This was such an addicting read. i couldn't get enough of it! I genuinely felt like i was watching a movie. This was so well written ( not to mention the beautiful character art ) that truly brought this together. I could genuinely see myself rereading this already cause i know damn well this is going to live rent-free in my head till i do.

" You may be an angel, love, but i am no god."

I fell in love with Zahra instantly. She's such a badass character, the way she carries her self, the confidence, and the genius that she is. I am in absolute awe.

Then we have Declan, who feels so intensely yet so calm and calculated when needed. They fit together so beautifully. Honestly, the mental health representation in this book is amazing, and giving light to mens emotions to was amazing to see. My heart was breaking for Declan, but im so glad they were able to confide in each other in such an unrelenting reactly that in which they found them self.

Their romance truly went through every single stage in this book. You see so much growth between these characters, from strangers to allies / enemies to conferdonts to lovers. The pacing so on point for this it gives you that space to truly be invested into them and get to know them without feeling slow or dragged out.

The Devil and Her Details by Mina Myles is a dark, emotionally charged mafia romance that landed at 3.5 stars for me. The premise is fantastic: Declan, newly elevated Boss of the Irish mafia after his father’s assassination, and Zahra, the first woman to inherit the Persian mafia after her own father’s death, forced into a marriage of convenience while each suspects the other of murder. The power balance is refreshingly equal—two bosses, not a boss and an underling—and the tension between vengeance, attraction, and uneasy alliance is compelling from the start.
The romance is a real highlight. Declan is the classic obsessive, protective mafioso who will burn the world for Zahra, and Zahra is a brilliant hacker and ruthless strategist in her own right, not just a love interest.
Their chemistry crackles, and the “he falls first and harder” energy delivers, with some great “my wife” moments and a satisfying blend of spice and emotional vulnerability. The book also doesn’t shy away from heavier topics—grief, survivor’s guilt, anxiety and panic attacks, and the brutality of violence—and those layers give the characters more depth.
At the same time, there are a few pacing and clarity issues that kept this just shy of a full 4 stars for me; certain plot turns and pieces of the overarching conspiracy could have used a bit more breathing room and polish to really land. Still, as book one in a series of interconnected standalones, The Devil and Her Details is a strong, addictive start for readers who enjoy dark mafia romance with a powerful FMC, an utterly gone MMC, and high emotional stakes. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Emotionally charged Mafia romance!!

Zahra- Persian mafia boss- computer nerd
Declan- Irish mafia boss- possessive

Plot twist at 80% 🤯
Did not see that coming.

The banter and tension between Zahra and Declan was sizzling.

Words that Linger:
🖤 He is mine now. Mine to deceive, mine to ruin, and mine to kill.

🖤 “Well, if this dress doesn’t kill them, I have something else that will,” I tease, moving aside the slit of my dress to reveal the small revolver attached to my stockings.

🖤 Can you make a promise to me?””Depends on what you’re asking me.” “To never let anyone steal your light, or take your fight from you.”

🖤 “Say the words Zahra, and I’m yours. Say you want me. Say you need me. And I promise you, I’ll spend every second of every day worshiping you.”

Tropes:
🖤Marriage of convenience
🖤Mafia Romance
🖤He falls first
🖤Romantic Suspense
🖤Enemies to Lovers

Thanks to @lovenotes.pr and @minamylesbooks for the ARC.

Loved it. Loved it. Loved it.

First of all, thank you so much to Mina and the team for the ARC. As someone who usually doesn’t gravitate toward mafia romance, this completely surprised me. It hooked me fast and kept me invested, which says a lot.
My only issue? I needed more. I wish it was longer and more fleshed out, especially after the marriage. Just when the tension, spice, and emotional payoff were hitting their stride, I realized I was already over 50%. Criminal behavior, honestly.

I Zhara is THAT girl. Strong, smart, and absolutely badass. And yes, I wanted more Declan the cat dad. Speaking of Declan, I love him, but I personally wanted more yearning. More restraint. More quiet obsession. That said, I really loved how he fully trusts Zhara, lets her do whatever she wants, believes in her capabilities, yet still wants to protect and cherish her. Soft but lethal MMC behavior. We love to see it.

Overall, a strong first read of 2026 with solid spice and great character dynamics. Huge thanks again to Mina and the team for the ARC.
The Devil and Her Details releases on January 16th and deserves a spot on your TBR. 🔥📖

She's ready to kill for the truth.
He's ready to kill for her.

I absolutely loved this book! It definitely is written beautifully if you love mafia romances and a FMC who is totally in charge of everyone and everything around her.

This book carries a strong female lead with a man who will do anything for her. If you like romance tropes where the characters are morally grey, badasses and extremely strong leaders then this book is definitely for you.

I never liked predictable romance or books but this book had me hooked and rethinking. You immediately get hooked right in the beginning when the FMC, Zahra, is introduced and you can tell she is willing to do anything to get what she wants. Zahra will do anything she sets her mind to and there is no getting in her way. Declan, the MMC, is the one guy she wants but not in the way you think. Or is it? 🤭❤️

Zahra has lived her life in the shadows, but her father's death forces her to take her place as the head of Boston's Persian Mafia. Declan should be her ally. Their fathers were friends, dying on the same day in the same attack. But Zahra has her doubts about Declan. However, when he needs a wife to solidify his power over the Irish Mafia, she agrees to a marriage of convenience hoping to discover who killed their fathers.

Read if you like:
-Mafia Romance
-Marriage of Convenience
-Who to Trust?
-Hacker FMC
-Pleasure Dom MMC

The Devil and Her Details is exactly the type of book that makes me think I could give up reading hockey romance in favor of mafia romance, but then I remember Mina Myles writes both now and I don't have to choose! I loved how completely badass Zahra is. Smart, sassy, and tough as nails. She wasn't a spoiled mafia princess; she was a complete and total queen. And I loved that Declan fell hard for her. Their dynamic was so good. I'm hoping this won't be the last mafia romance from Mina because Zahra and Declan's seconds also had amazing chemistry.

This book literally checks all my boxes: dark mafia, SHE’S also a mafia boss, marriage of convenience, touch her and die and that’s just the beginning of it. Mina Myles this is exactly what I needed.

Zahra & Declan both having just lost their fathers are all of a sudden thrust into the position of mafia boss. With their fathers being best friends it’s natural for the allyship between the Persians and the Irish to live on. But things are never just easy right? Otherwise the book would not be nearly as interesting.

Declan, king of he fell first, let me tell you, he is OBSESSED with this woman. She says fake marriage and he says: I’m gonna make this real if it kills me. Zahra was so not sold on him at first and as she gets to know him and softens towards him, omg perfection.

I love that this book also moonlights as a romantic suspense. I love watching all the pieces fall in place in the classic “whodunnit” style.

Next I would like a book about Azula our vicious queen and Aiden our lost boy, please!

Don’t sleep on this story it’s worth the read!

This was my first book by Mina Myles, and the intriguing premise, especially with the female protagonist as the head of the Persian mafia, piqued my interest. Overall, I enjoyed the story, but it lacked depth for me. Zahra, the head of the Persian empire, takes over after her father’s murder, coinciding with Declan, the head of the Irish mafia, also losing his father. Both are on a quest to find the killers, and initially, Zahra suspects Declan. She attempts to get close to him, leading them to agree on a marriage of convenience to strengthen their forces and collaborate in their search for the killer. However, as Zahra delves deeper, she discovers that Declan is not the culprit.

I found the beginning of the book promising, as both characters are driven by a desire for revenge. However, the story takes an abrupt turn, jumping between different plotlines. It feels unnecessarily lengthy, and the narrative predominantly relies on telling and description rather than exploration. Additionally, I am accustomed to the MMC being cold and aloof, but he appears to be deeply emotional and deviates from the typical mafia man persona. This makes it challenging to connect with him. Furthermore, Zahra, who is supposed to be an exceptionally tough and formidable hacker, lacks this character trait throughout the story.

While the suspenseful elements kept me engaged and reading, I couldn’t help but feel that the overall story failed to resonate with me as much as I had hoped. It wasn’t a bad book, but it simply didn’t meet my expectations.

The Devil and Her Details by Mina Myles
MMC: Declan McAlister
FMC: Zahra Azhimi

🖤Marriage of Convenience
🥀 Mafia Romance
🖤Banter
🥀He falls first
🖤Enemies to Lovers
🥀Touch her and die
🖤slow burn
🥀he’s pierced

The Devil and Her Details is dual POV Mafia Romance featuring a marriage of convenience between Declan McAlister (the protective, jealous, and possessive Boss to the Irish Mafia), and Zahra Azhimi (expert hacker and new Boss of Persian Empire). Please see the author's note for full list of content warnings.
I love when a story features a main FMC as a badass, especially when it comes to books containing the Mafia world. Declan’s dad was killed and his world turned upside down. He became the new Boss of the Irish mafia. Zahra is our take no shit sassy next heir to the Persian Empire. A young, underestimated woman who has been kept hidden her whole life by her father for her safety. After deciding to marry for reasons because of Declans late father's will; the two start working together only to start falling for each other.
