Sassy and fun are the two words Ally Hardy lives her life by. She also wants love – and happiness – but she’s not sure either are in her immediate future. She’s content to tread water until she gets everything she’s ever dreamed of.
Jake Harrison is just trying to get by. His six-year tour in the Army haunts him, and he’s decided distance is the best way to survive. He doesn’t want – or need – any complications.
Ally’s mere existence might put Jake’s plan in jeopardy.
While her brother’s are happily paired off, Ally is still floundering. She’s attracted to Jake. Who wouldn’t be? He’s every woman’s physical dream, and yet his mental stamina might leave much to be desired.
Ally can’t stay away, though, and when trouble upends her life, the woman who wants everything can’t help but cling to the man who desires nothing.
Jake wants distance, but his heart is putting up a fight his body can’t deny.
After discovering a dying man, someone thinks Ally knows a secret. When they go after her, Jake steps in to protect her.
Her brothers want a “perfect” man for their baby sister, and Jake is far from a perfect man. Ally only wants Jake, and she’s decided no one is going to stand in her way.
Jake fights the pull – but it seems to be a fruitless endeavor. Her energy is too much for him to resist, and despite her brothers’ misgivings, Jake can’t stay away.
Despite his best efforts, Ally manages to catch Jake’s attention – and heart. Someone is still after Ally, and her brothers may never approve, but Jake soon realizes he’s beyond caring.
Ally is in danger, and Jake plans to stand in the path of anyone who would try and hurt her.
Will this duo survive to find out if they can find happily ever after? Or will someone snuff out potential love before it has a chance to bloom?

Another fab read!

I adore this series. I love all books from this author. This series is mind blowing. Its different to all other books. There is followup to this series. Once a couple story finishes it doesn't end. It follows on through other stories.
Usually books on a happy ever after, not this series. They end on happily ever after for now lol!! Well until the next crisis that is.
This book is the beginning of ally's story. She sees a dying man when she goes to pick up dinner. She stays with him til the ambulance comes.
Unknowingly this sympathetic gesture puts her life in danger.
Her attraction to her brother's new employee gets addressed. Lovely read. Ready for the next book.

Ally and Jake's story

Ally is still smitten with the quiet and enigmatic Jake. When she goes to Pauly's Diner to collect a take out meal and discovers the battered owner breathing his last she holds the man's hand as he tries and fails to pass on some final words before expiring.

Unfortunately for Ally someone else believes that Mike imparted some vital information so now they're going after Ally determined to find the missing bank heist money.

Ally doesn't initially realise the danger she's in, but when her car breaks down and an unexploded bomb is discovered by the mechanic, hired to fix it.

Can the whole "Hardy Team", partners and all, get to the bottom of it before they lose Ally for good?

Jake falls into line

We knew Alley needed her own man but he isn't totally like her brothers. He seems a bit distant at the beginning and doesn't get alot of his background out which I look forward to in the future. Plus a potential red herring.

Another fun read

The Hardy stories of Mandy and Ally in their teenage years are totally entertaining. The best part of all Lily Harper Hart/Amanda M Lee books are the funny conversations and the tight knit relationships.

The Hardy Brothers Security stories just get better and better and now there is a cliffhanger. Something for everyone. Can't wait to read the next book.

Jake is kind of cute, but James? I can’t even… I wanted to strangle or at least shake him out of it at some points. :)

Plot twist

Good story. But, ya got to get the facts right or the thread is sort of lost. Chevy makes a Cavalier. Good plot twist ending though.

I love this series, but I didn't enjoy this book as much as some others. The characters are what really make this series for me, but I had a few issues with Ally and Jake. Ally just came across as whiny to me. I love how Lily Harper Hart depicts Mandy--she clearly has faults, but she also has so many redeeming qualities. Ally does too, but I just didn't really see them in this story.

We had met Jake in the last book but didn't know much about him. We did learn a bit more about Jake in this book, but I still couldn't connect with him.

I loved catching up with everyone else, and these two may appeal to me more in future books. I still love this series and can't wait to read book 5!

Female Hardy

This was a cute story as told by the baby sister of the Hardy brothers. The dynamic relationship she has with each of them makes for good story telling. I'm onto the next one!

Nice twist

I really loved the twist to this story. Unlike most books, I didn't have this one figured out. Can't wait for the next installment

Ugh....the sister

She is just the most annoying character ever. I wish there was more diversity in these stories. Even the love making scenes are the exact same.
