A Temple of Sin and Salvation

Rate this book
They called her the High Priestess of Love.
They called him the God of Ruin.

Together, they became the story the stars were never meant to tell.

Kalia was born for devotion, her every breath bound to Cupid's temple. She is trained to worship love, to speak its blessings, even when hers has run cold. When a stranger steps from the shadows, the temple itself bends around him. The fallen God, Caelus, carries the echo of something both divine and dangerous, a darkness that knows her name.

One forbidden touch shatters the divine order, binding them by a love that could unmake the world.

As the veil between worship and desire unravels, Kalia learns the truth. The God she served was never gone, only fallen, and the ruin of love itself lives behind eyes she cannot turn away from.

Now chained by fate, and tip-toeing on the line of damnation, Kalia must choose between the faith that shaped her… and the one thing even Gods fear to lose—love itself.

🍷“Every prayer has a price, Little Dove,” he murmurs. “And every severing leaves a scar.”
🍷Torn between pulling away or allowing myself to be consumed by this hunger, this need I have for him.
🍷“Fuck the Gods,” he growls. “I’m the only one you’ll worship tonight.”

Dark Desires, Dangerous Choices

‘A Temple of Sin and Salvation’ drags the reader into a world that is as beautiful as it is unsettling. The temple itself feels alive: dark, suffocating, filled with rituals that fascinate as much as they terrify. Here, every choice carries weight, leaving a trail of guilt and desire in its wake.

The characters are charged with tension. Their relationships are complex, layered with hidden motives and inner struggles. The lines between good and evil blur, making the story both compelling and unpredictable.

Yet the book falters at times. The pacing is uneven: some scenes linger with repetitive inner monologues, while others flash by too quickly. The world is rich and intricate but demands close attention. Some supporting characters remain flat, which lessens the impact of their actions. The ending feels like a bridge to more, sparking curiosity but also a touch of frustration.

Despite its flaws, this is a gripping dark fantasy. A story where sin and salvation intertwine, where tension and emotion linger, and where the craving for the sequel grows strong.

"You are the one thing I've ached for since the moment I first breathed your name."

A Temple of Sin and Salvation is perfect for Valentine's Day. Right away in the first chapter, I was hooked on this novella. Kalia, sick with heartbreak, prays to Cupid, and her prayers are answered. The Fallen God, once Cupid, appears to Kalia, and she gets far more than what she wished for. Their love story is easy to get lost in. I read this in one sitting. It did feel a little rushed but the fact that it's a novella it makes sense. And sometimes I want a quick read that packs a lot into a small book. The spice is not lacking and neither is the plot. Do make sure you check the content warnings. I definitely recommend this one!

If you're even a little bit into Roman mythology, you HAVE to check this out. From the first page, I was totally drawn in-the way the author describes everything is just
*chef's kiss*. I could practically see the temples and scenery in my head!

What I really loved was how the story played with the whole "sin and salvation" thing. It's not just a simple good vs. evil tale; it's way more interesting.

Even though it's a short read, it packs a punch. It's the kind of story that sticks with you long after you're done. Trust me, if you're looking for something that's easy to get into but still has depth, "A Temple of Sin and Salvation" is it!

ARC read

I enjoyed reading this story about love that is stronger than anything.

The locations and actions are beautifully and vividly described, they contain the right amount of informations for a clear view of everything. I really liked the mythology elements and the fact that this story is focused on love.

I adored the love between Kalia and Caelus, especially when they stood next to each other when they were judged for it.

Caelus is a complex character, he changed a lot during the events of this book because of his love for Kalia. She went through a lot too but she kept her fate in love. They were both wiling to sacrifice anything for each other.

Title: A Temple of Sin and Salvation
ARC Provided By: Kiara Rae
Expected Release Date: 02|14|2026
Genre: Romance
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️
Main Characters: Caelus & Kalia
Book Type: Standalone, Novella

I really loved this take on Cupid and the spin it gives on his story.

The romance between the High Priestess and the fallen God of Ruin unfolds with a slow, aching intensity, and I loved how their connection was built on more than just attraction. Their shared pain, conflicting loyalties, and gradual trust made their relationship feel earned and deeply human despite the divine stakes.

This was an easy five stars for me. If you love myth-inspired fantasy romance, forbidden love, slow-burn tension, and emotionally rich storytelling, this one deserves a spot at the top of your TBR.

It isn't just a gorgeous cover, even though it is THAT too. I am over the moon excited for more people to dive into this brilliant Novella. It carries so much heart and a big punch of amazing storytelling, charm, and some heat. The buildup of tension had me eagerly flipping pages and the chemistry was literally on fire on those same pages. I loved the take on Roman mythology and how developed the story and characters were. I had a lot of fun with this one and I can't wait to get a copy on my shelves. Total YES, must read this. Superb and I can't wait to read more by the same author.

Hello, people!
First of all, let me mention that this book is the first book in the Roman Temple series.
The story takes us to Roman mythology and introduces us to a fantastic world building that slowly unfolds and piques our interest. The heroes have a special chemistry between them and the spicy scenes are very hot. The flow of the book is incredible and the book reads without a hitch.
As for the author's writing, it is exactly as I would like. That is, it is enjoyable, intoxicating, exciting, dark and romantic at the same time and has tension and passion.
A note from me. This book is worth reading on Valentine's Day. You will go crazy!

Thank you very much to the author for the eARC!

This book was written with so much detail that I could picture it perfectly in my head. Caelus and Kalias story is beautiful and shows that love conquers all. The Roman mythology written within the story had me hooked.

I’m a dark girlie and the god of despair is 100% my favorite

I do wish there was more spice but with it being a short book there was enough to show the intensity of their relationship

A quick read (sub 200 pages). I enjoyed the world the authors are building and the characters.

The relationship between Kaia & Caelus felt very insta-love but I think that’s hard to avoid in a novella featuring a soul bond.

I absolutely loved this novella from the minute I picked it up. It draws on Roman mythology so if that is your cup of tea this novella is for you.

I loved the MFC and MMC the chemistry they have was electric from the minute they met and I loved how their relationship blossom throughout the story.

The descriptions through this book were just spot on from the characters to the actions to the world building. You really felt like you were part of the story.

It was the first book I’ve read by this author and I look forward to reading more from them in the future.

Holy 5 ⭐️ novella! I love the way this was done! I’m obsessed with myth retellings and I love that this one wasn’t simply a retelling, it was a reshaping of a myth. And was clearly well done in my eyes!

Sometimes I find that novellas feel rushed, or that I’m missing some details because they’re so short. That was not the case here! Kalia and Caelus’s story is perfectly wrapped up in just over 100 pages, I didn’t feel like there was any rushing or missing information! All in all, it’s an amazing, easy to follow, easy to devour read! Definitely add to your TBR!

2.5 ⭐

I think this story really had promise. I love the tropes and the retelling of Cupid. But by the end, there was too much that didn’t sit right with me.

Cupid as a fallen god and how he came into the picture was great. The writing is descriptive, and at the start the story really pulled me in. At times, the writing is beautiful, and there are some genuinely lovely quotes in here. But story-wise, I just wasn’t fully fulfilled. It was very instalove and insta-intimacy, but there was no buildup. I feel like it was only there because of fate. It felt inevitable and not earned.

The ending felt both rushed and dragged out. A lot happens in just one chapter, and then the happy ending bit right after feels unnecessarily drawn out.

If you want to stay spoiler-free, this is your exit.
Spoilers ahead.

Let’s start with Dorian, the so-called love of Kalia’s life. Everyone says they were born for each other. That’s how perfect they are together. And yet, she finds him balls deep in an acolyte. He’s shocked, sure, but for days he doesn’t even try to win her back. No groveling, no real remorse, nothing. But when he later finds her marked, he’s very quick to fault her for the mark she bears after being touched by a fallen god. Where is this great love everyone talked about?

From that point on, he’s mostly just mean. And when he finds her naked after her night with Caelus, he condemns her for being defiled. After having cheated on her just days before. The hypocrisy is… something. And what bothered me just as much is that she doesn’t even call him out on it.

Also, a small but very specific detail. It’s said that Caelus tastes like sin and ash. Sin, okay. Ash? Yuk.

The story feels like it aims for an epic love between Caelus and Kalia, but I just couldn’t feel it. Their bond is based almost entirely on fate and the extremely rare soul tie between them. Which brings me to fate itself. Why is there a soul tie between them if they were never meant to be together? The gods would never accept the bond, it’s against the rules of the stars, and it throws the balance completely off with massive consequences.
Fate should be there for a reason, it’s like an all-knowing ‘thing’. For it to intervene should be because it's necessary or at the very least possible. The fact that it was not, makes me not have faith in fate.

Like I say before, the ending feels rushed and stretched out at the same time. Caelus sacrifices himself so Kalia won’t be harmed, but then Kalia wakes up in her chamber with him sleeping next to her, but as a mortal. That just felt too easy.
Immediately after that, guards take them straight to the council. Conveniently, the Archon of all councils appears, someone Kalia knows personally, who also just happens to be nearby because it’s Cupid’s Week. Even better, Kalia’s mother was best friends with his wife. And even better still, his daughter just happens to be the oracle. Within two sentences, she sees that Caelus is Cupid reborn, and everyone believes Kalia.
Right after that, Dorian is accused and stripped of his title.
And right after that, Caelus is offered the position of High Priest to.... himself? Does he worship himself? Everyone knows Cupid isn’t “up there” anymore. So why are they still worshipping him exactly? And of course, Kalia is restored as High Priestess as well. It's all just too convenient. And ALL this happens in one short chapter.

Then the dragging part starts. Their happy ending. At that point, I wanted the story to be finished.

Toward the end, Caelus mentions Ashanti leaving the temple weeks prior to look for answers she couldn’t find there. Okay... But then we’re told he often caught her gaze, noticing flickers of guilt and fear, an unease in her eyes, and that’s it. Absolutely nothing happens with this information.
The second loose thread is the oracle mentioning that Caelus’ divinity is diminished but not erased. Does that mean he could become a god again? What would that mean for Kalia? Once again, nothing happens with this information.

This is the first book in a series, but it felt like a standalone. The loose threads inserted at the end didn't feel organic to me.

Unfortunately, this book just wasn’t for me. But I do hope my thoughts can be valuable for other readers and for the author as well, and I wish them the best of luck in their writing journey.

Short review:
12/10 would recommend!!! This was the most romantic novella I’ve ever read.
It’s based on Valentine’s Day and the god who inspired the holiday, Cupid, and a high priestess, Kalia. It’s delicious and satisfying.
Let me tell you: it is steamyyyy. I loved the plot, the characters, and the spice!

Long review:
Amazing book, period, no notes!! (jk I have tons of notes.) It didn’t take long for me to realize I was going to love this book. A few minutes into reading, I just knew it was one of the good ones. I finished it recently and it’s easily one of my favorites this year, and it is 1000% my favorite Valentine’s Day novella.

The pretty prose, perfect diction, and lyrical writing… just so beautiful. It’s poetic and full of adoration, and I couldn’t get enough. And the dynamic between Cupid and Kalia? Forbidden, devoted, and tense in all the best ways. You can feel the pull between them from the very beginning.

I loved the FMC. She was the perfect mix of discouraged and insecure, and then magnetic and ruthless. And when I say she shines, I mean shines. This woman is accused of everything under the sun: soiling herself, breaking sacred vows, being something she’s not. She still stands there with her spine straight. The scene where she’s found in bed with Cupid, who literally sacrificed his godhood to save her, had me feral. The humiliation, the shackles, the temple people and even her ex trying to tear her down… and she still didn’t bend. That whole sequence had my heart in my throat. The devotion between them, the tension, the way they choose each other even when it costs everything, that’s the kind of romance I’ll think about for months. Kalia came out the winner in this book, as did the fallen god. As did I, as the reader.

The ending had me absolutely screaming. It’s the perfect mix of relief, longing, and that delicious “we’re not done yet” feeling. I CANNOT wait for the sequel. I will definitely be one of the first to grab it once it comes out. Kiara Rae is officially an auto-buy author for me. It’s wild that this is their debut story; you’d think they were seasoned authors. This is officially my Roman Empire for the year

*Advanced copy of the book was provided to me by the authors in exchange for an honest review, but these opinions are wholly, entirely mine all mine*

by Kiara Rae
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tropes:

* Forbidden Love
* Fate-Bound Souls
* Enemies to Lovers
* Shadow Daddy
* Touch Her and Die
* He Falls First
A Temple of Sin and Salvation is an electrifying masterpiece of romantic fantasy that absolutely took my breath away! Set within the sacred and shimmering walls of Cupid’s temple, the story follows Kalia, the High Priestess of Love, whose own heart has long since run cold despite her divine duties. When the fallen God of Ruin, Caelus, emerges from the shadows, the atmosphere shifts into something deliciously dark and dangerous. Their chemistry is instantaneous and incendiary, proving that some loves are powerful enough to unmake the entire world.
The character work here is nothing short of divine. Kalia is such a compelling character—strong and devoted, yet aching for a choice of her own—while Caelus is the ultimate "shadow daddy" with a heart-wrenching past and eyes you simply can't turn away from. Their journey from mutual wariness to a soul-shattering, forbidden bond is a total emotional rollercoaster. I loved seeing how the temple itself reacted to their presence, adding a layer of sentient magic that made the setting feel alive and integral to their romance.
Kiara Rae have truly outdone themselves with the lore and world-building in this 2026 release. The tension between worship and desire is handled with such grace and heat, keeping me glued to the pages until the very last word. If you’re a fan of Roman mythology reimagined with a dark, spicy twist and a "burn down the world for her" hero, this book is an absolute must-read. It’s a beautiful, high-stakes story of faith, healing, and choosing love over destiny that will definitely stay with me for a while!

10/10 Would recommend this book to family and friends

There are spoilers in this review and I think this is one you want to go into blindly…

I finished A Temple of Sin and Salvation and I genuinely still don’t know how to feel about it.

This was one of those books that I absolutely flew through because the concept had me hooked from the start.

Give me gods. Give me immortals. Give me forbidden love with a power imbalance and I am already sat.

The world building was good, very descriptive… you had to really concentrate to keep up.
The emotional tension was definitely there because I felt a lot while reading this.

But once I got to the end I just kind of sat there like…

Did I like this?

The story started to feel a bit repetitive at times and I found myself wanting more depth from the characters. I really liked Caelus and but man he he through a lot… but I never felt fully connected to Kalia, which made some of the bigger emotional moments fall a little flat for me even though I was invested in the outcome.

I’m glad they got their happily ever after but I’m not sure I loved how they got there. After everything Caelus endured at the hands of the gods, losing his immortality felt less like a romantic sacrifice and more like another punishment. The mortal loving a god dynamic carries so much built in heartbreak and sacrifice and I really wanted that to matter more in the end. Making Kalia immortal was right there as an option and I kept wishing the story had gone that route instead.

Instead of feeling hopeful, I just felt kind of sad for him.

Overall this was a quick read with a really interesting premise that had me feeling a lot of things, but I was left wanting more from the characters and not fully satisfied with how it all came together.

Heartbreak has a way of opening doors we never intended to knock on.

Kalia, a high priestess of Cupid’s Temple, is reeling from a devastating betrayal by the man she was meant to marry. In her grief, she turns to prayer, seeking solace from the God of Love—but it is not Cupid who answers. Instead, her plea is heard by Caelus, the fallen God of Ruin.

Their connection is instant, intense, and utterly forbidden.

Set in Roman times—when there was a god for every aspect of human existence—A Temple of Sin and Salvation is a fast-paced, dual-POV novella with a subtle sprinkling of spice. Despite its shorter length, the story delivers vivid scenes and well-rounded characters, capturing both divine temptation and very human vulnerability.

What stood out most for me was the thematic undercurrent running beneath the mythology. The story reflects a compelling parallel between the ancient belief in the sanctity and permanence of love and marriage, and the modern shift toward increasingly fleeting, transactional relationships. That contrast added an unexpected layer of depth and made the story feel quietly relevant.

As someone who naturally gravitates toward mythology-based stories, I thoroughly enjoyed this read. The authors do an admirable job of crafting crisp, evocative moments and emotional beats that linger—especially impressive within the confines of a novella.

My only real critique lies with the ending, which felt a little too rushed and could have benefitted from more substance and breathing room. That said, this was still an engaging, thought-provoking read that left me wanting more time in this world.

This book broke my heart open in the most beautiful way.

I laughed, I cried (proper tears), and when I reached the final page I just sat there for a moment, holding my Kindle, wishing I could stay in this world a little longer. A Temple of Sin and Salvation isn’t just a story you read — it’s a story you feel, slowly and deeply, until it settles somewhere in your chest.

There is such tenderness in the way this book is written. Every emotion feels intentional. Every interaction carries weight. The romance is soft and aching, layered with longing and restraint, and it unfolds in a way that feels earned rather than rushed. It’s the kind of connection that grows quietly, then suddenly you realise you’re completely invested.

The myth-inspired elements are woven in so naturally — never overpowering the story, but enriching it. The world feels intimate and atmospheric, like you’re standing just behind the characters, watching their choices shape them. There’s a beautiful balance here between myth, emotion, and humanity.

What moved me most is the heart behind this book. You can feel the care, the love, and the intention in every chapter. For a debut, this is genuinely impressive — confident, emotionally intelligent, and deeply sincere. It feels like the beginning of something special.

I already know I’ll be thinking about this story for a long time, and I cannot wait to see what these two sisters create next. If this is where they start, I’ll be following their work closely from here on out.

✨ If you love myth-inspired fantasy, emotional depth, tender romance, and stories that leave a lasting imprint — this one is not to be missed.

“If you are truly sin, then let me be your salvation.”

WOW - this book! Given that this is a novella, I did not expect the level of depth that is found within this short story. This book is filled with rich history, epic love, action, thought-provoking lore, and hidden messages. I read it easily in one sitting (with the provided playlist, I might add. Highly recommend this reading path for aesthetics!), and I enjoyed every page.

I love how the Roman history was portrayed in this book, especially the focus on Cupid lore. The perspective shown through the storytelling was unique and beautiful. It made me question my own beliefs about Cupid and Valentine’s Day, and there is a rebellious feeling to the story that resonated with me.

The love story is epic, filled with yearning, confusion, devastation, satisfaction, and absolute devotion. There is plenty of open door spice 🌶️, and lovers of steamy scenes will not be disappointed. I won’t say too much for fear of spoiling the story, but it’s really well done.

“I love you in every form, in every failure, in every truth you tried to bury. I love the light you were and the darkness you became.”

The ending is PERFECT! The story felt completely wrapped up and the message to the reader was clear. This book should be added to everyone’s Valentines Day reading list, especially those who enjoy unconventional love stories.

Thank you for sharing an ARC with me, Kiara & Rae! I can’t wait to see what you come up with next.

A Temple of Sin and Salvation is a quick, spicy Roman mythology–inspired love story that wastes no time getting its hooks into you.

Kalia is the High Priestess of Cupid’s temple, Caelus is a fallen God, and when Kalia calls on the divine, he is the one who answers. From that moment on, everything shifts, not just for them, but for the fate of both the mortal and divine realms.

This may be a short novella, but it absolutely packs a punch. There is love, betrayal, heartbreak, destiny, and high emotional stakes, all woven into a fast-paced story that never feels rushed. Everything collides in a way that kept me fully engaged from start to finish.

One of the things I loved most was the way the authors reimagined the Gods, especially Cupid. There is something human, raw, and emotionally grounded in their portrayal, which made the story feel more intimate and impactful, even while dealing with beings we often place on unreachable pedestals.

The ending really worked for me. It felt powerful, intentional, and emotionally satisfying, and it added a fresh twist that made this feel like a perfect read for the Valentine’s season.

If you are looking for a quick but deliciously impactful story with spice, emotion, and mythology woven together, do not miss this one.

I received this book as an ARC, however this review reflects my honest thoughts and feelings, shared voluntarily.

This book has a really interesting concept, and I love the natural tension created by the main characters being a high priestess and a fallen god. The romance was cute, the spice was well written and didn't feel excessive, and overall this book just felt like a cute short romance. I like the way the author describes environments as well, it creates some really vivid pictures that fit really well with the theme of the story. I could practically smell incense the whole time I was reading.

My only complaint when it comes to this story is that it feels almost too fast, especially right at the beginning. I feel like I didn't get to know the characters at all before being thrown into the main plot, however, I've been reading a lot of longer books lately which I'm sure is throwing me off with this. Given that this is a shorter book, it's understandable that things move a bit faster than what I may be used to, so that's not necessarily a criticism and more likely a reflection on my preferences as a reader.

I finished this book in about 4 and a half hours, and it left me wanting more. I want to know more about the world and the backstories of the characters, and I think it reflects well on a story to leave readers wanting more. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone who likes cute romance, a little bit of spice, and forbidden love.

I got the wonderful chance to read this as an ARC.
First and foremost, I love books that start with a playlist. They are great and allow the reader to get a wonderful feel for what they are going to be going into before they even read the first true page of the novel. Also, maps are always wonderful to have.

This novel is a masterpiece! Many novels are written using one of the major Gods as their title piece. You could go and find plenty that feature Hades, Zeus, and Poseidon. Even such as Athena, Artemis, and Aphrodite. Though this one is truly new and refreshing and features Cupid.

I used their Greek names, but this novel uses the Roman names for the Gods. When the other Gods do make a minor appearance, the true frontrunner is Cupid, or rather Caelus.

I truly do love Caelus as a character. The story is built on the relationship between Caelus, now God of Ruin, and High Priestess of Love, Kalia. The novel is truly wonderful. I love the development of the characters. The journey that comes from the love between the two.

The spice level is probably 3. I don't normally rate spice, so I'm not the best at it. Though it is not all the novel is, there are spicy scenes, however. The book offers love, betrayal, and Gods.

Thank you Kiara Rae for the gifted ARC in exchange of an honest review!

TLDR: This book should’ve been longer! I’ve been edged and left wanting for more!

Kiara wove such a vivid tapestry of Roman mythology in a retelling I haven’t read before that making it novella-short is doing it a disservice. She took a usually overlooked God—Cupid—and gave him a profound backstory and evolutions, some of which made me think of Jesus (I’m not even a Christian I swear). In a world where true love is commonly ignored in place of superficial and ephemeral sexual encounters, the God in charge of ensuring love’s destiny came true, dared to love as we all should—with trust, sacrifice and real connection.

Having waxed rhapsodic, the characters seemed stockish; I wish Kalia as High Priestess would’ve been given more color to instead of just being a betrayed, virginal paragon of piety. Give me more world building! What is UP with the pantheon of gods in this AU? Where’s Venus in all of this!

At risk of sounding a bit maudlin, this truly inspired me to love, to exercise our power of choice and defy in the name of love! Also, Dorian SUCKS. Don’t be confused btw… this is SPICY! 🌶️

Great for fans of Neon Gods, Touched by Darkness and other romantic mythical retellings.

I am honored that I got to read the beta version of this story and entirely impressed at the quality at this early stage!

Decades ago I was a classics major, and I have a love for Roman and Greek mythology. I absolutely loved this fantasy retelling of Cupid’s story through the lens of one of his priestesses. It’s not the sappy love story one might expect of a cherubic Cupid shooting candy heart arrows. This is a brutally emotional story of a fallen God and a woman who stumbled into something she didn’t even ask for.

I’m not sure if it’s a slow burn as much as it’s a complicated fight against the burn. It was divine, in more ways than one!

I saved more quotes from this book than possibly any other this year - which is saying something especially since it’s a novella. There’s so much good stuff packed into such a tight narrative, with glorious world building, intense interpersonal relationship (not just with the romance), and the absolute gold standard for emotional impact.

The layered imagery and foreshadowing made this book fascinating to read. I will definitely be re-reading different iterations if they let me, and getting a copy to keep on my shelf too!

OMG, what a story this is. I finished it 2 days ago and I still can't stop thinking about it!

If you're looking for a new fantasy book for Valentine's day, this is it!

This Cupid retelling is an emotional novella that packs a punch straight to the heart. The world building and characters are vivid and superbly written. You could feel what the atmosphere would be like in these temple halls surrounded by devotion and pure faith in love.

The writing flows together nicely and makes this awesome Roman Mythology book an easy read.

The love that was on the pages between the two main characters are so well written they feel tangible! They are drawn together like moths to a flame and create a love for the ages. The sex scenes were spicy and will leave you wanting a cold shower or some time alone.😉

I mean come on, when he says things like " You are mine to unmake little Dove" how can you resist. I swear I melted on the spot!

I absolutely loved this book and can't wait to read more from the fantastic sister duo Kiara Rae!

✨ARC Review✨

“My devotion is yours. My vow is yours. My life is yours.”

✨ Romantasy novella
✨ Roman gods & mythology
✨ Fallen god x priestess
✨ Forbidden devotion
✨ High spice

This is a fast, emotionally intense romantasy novella rooted in Roman mythology, where devotion, faith, and desire are tangled together in ways that hurt as much as they heal.

Kalia has been shaped by obligation her entire life, trained to worship love even as her own belief in it has fractured. When Caelus appears, everything she understands about faith, loyalty, and sacrifice begins to unravel.

“A god has answered me. But this is no ordinary god. The darkness in his presence leaves no doubt. This is a fallen god.”

The emotional arc is heavy despite the novella length. Kalia’s internal conflict between devotion and desire is raw and consuming, and Caelus carries his own weight of ruin and longing. Their connection isn’t just forbidden, it’s devastating.

“If love has doomed me, I want nothing of it.”

The Roman mythological elements add richness, grounding the story in something ancient and inevitable, while the romance leans hard into intensity and sacrifice rather than comfort.

“Dreams are the only place mortals dare to face truth.”

This is a short but powerful story that prioritises emotion, chemistry, and consequence over breadth.

“Maybe he doesn’t burn for me the way I burn for him.”

Chaos, vibes, and opinions are all my own ✨ please give credit if you share.

For lovers of mythology, forbidden romance and spicy novellas.
Thank you Kiara Rae for an eARC.
This is the perfect read for the month of love and a debut you won't soon forget. Well thought out characters, conflicts that make you feel things, good pacing, and a beautifully described setting. If you are looking for a low-commitment book this month, it is the first standalone in an interconnected series.

Because this is what love is, I realize. Not devotion. Not desire. But ruin willingly chosen.

I really enjoyed this story and take on Cupid. Right from the start I was drawn in by how beautifully the author describes the world she has created and the characters we follow along with. I love how this story built on Roman Mythology and turned it into a unforgettable love story.
Kalia, our heartbroken FMC, shows her undying devotion by praying to cupid everyday. What she does not expect is to summon a fallen god, our MMC Caelus, and bond with him. Their threads become intertwined and unbreakable! Their story takes off from there where you will discover their secrets, their desires, and experience first hand what ultimate sacrifice Caelus is willing to pay at the end!

"You gave me back what even the stars couldn't-choice."

I need to own a physical copy of this! I think this would be the perfect read with the upcoming
holiday!!!
